  • Some footage before and after the retirement, where Michael lost his 8th title to the first Ferrari engine failure in half a decade.
Sorry for the aspect ratio but because the source footage had variable aspect ratio, I couldn't make it work correctly when I made the video so it's a little "boxed"

I was 4 years old and I still remember to this day watching Michael from my tv walking out of the car while my father next to me was trying to explain to me that Shumi lost at that moment the championship to Alonso. It is one of my oldest memories.

This was the moment that decided the Championship at the penultimate round of the 2006 season.
Before this; Schumacher had crashed out in Australia and had a mechanical retirement in Hungary. Alonso crashed out in Hungary and had a mechanical retirement in Italy. Japan 06 brought the unwanted DNF count to 3-2 in Schumacher’s favour.
Coming into this race Alonso and Schumacher were tied on points (116-116), with the German leading the title race on the countback ruling (more wins in the season (7-6)).

Not the full picture, Alonso had a DNF in Hungary because his wheel nut detached, he didn't crash. So Alonso had 2 DNFs from mechanical failures where Schumacher had 1 DNF from a crash, 1 DNF from a racing incident, and 1 DNF from a mechanical issue.

I remember while watching an F1 race as a little kid (probably between 2004 & 2006), I decided to make a little michael schumacher poster, then a couple minutes later I saw a Ferrari broken down on grass. I'm pretty sure it was Schumacher, I then felt disappointed & binned the poster, as I've never seen that poster again 😄. Since around that time (03 - 06) I've been a fan. This era was fantastic.

What could’ve been😢!!! He would’ve won this race to extend a lead from a tie before the race, then absolutely fought for a last to first in Brazil, or wouldn’t even need to cause no engine blowup so Felipe would’ve stopped Fernando and schumi probably would’ve won without nando winning back

Alonso was lucky concerning Michael's DNF, but also in regards to the other Ferrari. Massa was forced to pit early for his first stop because of a slow puncture, allowing Fernando to jump him for 2nd at that stage, without incidents the race would’ve finished MSC, MAS, ALO in that order, and Schumacher takes a 4 point lead to Brazil. I'm not complaining that Alonso has two titles still!

@@emilekaram6094 2008, 2021 and I would personally add 2017 weren't very deserved by Lewis. In 2008 due to singapore gate, 2021 was fully deserved by Max Verstappen (Lewis made him DNF in Silverstone while he won that race, and in that season Max made zero mistakes). 2017, Vettel was the driver of the season, but in the final part of the season Ferrari didn't had reliability. Anyway, if you want to call me "salty lewis hater"... well, I literally love Lewis person and some of his drives made me more and more appassionate of this sport, like I love Michael. But, in 2021 and in 2008, Lewis didn't deserve very well the wdc. It's my opinion, don't blame me pls

@@mattiaturrisi2632 2008 he was robbed the win in Spa, so don't whine to much about Singapore plz. Lewis got a 25 secs penalty that should have been 5 or 10 at most, and still it was a joke and lie of a penalty cause he gave back the place to Kimi when he cut the chicane. Alonso did something similar in 2005 in Japan and Charles Whiting gave him a penalty but then cancelled it because Alonso gave the position back to the other driver( I think it was Webber). So Hamilton must be the Spa winner, so he still wins the title by 1 or 2 pts if we cancel Singapore. And in 1998 despite Schumi doing some miracles with the Ferrari but the Mclaren wasn't that much quicker and Mika did less mistakes. For me Mika deserves 1998 more truly. And 2003 Kimi and 2006 stays to Alonso IMO.
