How to pour a concrete boat ramp

  • In this video I give some tips on pouring concrete at a pitch like for a boat launch or a driveway on a hill. We will pour the concrete at a low slump so it does not flow back down the hill as you screed the concrete. The power screed does not work well for these applications because it vibrates the concrete down the slope.

Thanks. I learned several things from this video. I'm planning a concrete road on my mountain property (I'm a concrete rookie), with a good slope, and you touched on a couple good tips: bigger rocks as the base, pour it extra thick (3-4 slump), don't vibrate it, broom it early for a grippier texture, get a groove in earlier rather than later. Good stuff!

Why do you not employ rebar mesh as well as straight rods. Regards. Robin.

There was a pad in the water that we poured up to that pad. So wew didnt go in the water much.

For deep grooves in the steep ramps we just use a garden rake

Bondo, have you seen the video on UA-cam where they poured the ramp and then pushed it out into the water with a dozer?
