Stump Pulling

- This is how the brothers Grove pull stumps. I skipped the boring part of cutting off most of the branches and saved the best for the camera.
Specs on the truck: 1999 Ram 2500, diesel, 6-speed, 4" straight pipe, Quadzilla Adrenaline (PL2 for this demonstration). First attempt, 3rd gear, low-range. - Розваги
I don't care where this is, that is the most beautiful truck i've seen
Finally, someone who knows how to pull out a stump.
FINALLY! after wating 10 videos on this, someone does it right!
@ffjsb That is a recovery strap, and they are designed for shock loads. Also, the bigger the strap, the stronger the slingshot effect before the breaking point. All your other points are valid.
wow, first vid I've seen today with a good hook up.
Sick nice truck!
I especially like the evil laugh
Fuck yeah that was badass
Anyone know of a video where they load a big tree stump on a truck? Have yet to find one
@ffjsb I was willing to take the risk of something breaking to save my yard from wheel spin damage by doing it slowly like you mentioned. I had to drive on that part of my yard for a few months until I got it paved.
Nice!
finally some one with some balls to just rip that shit right out !!
niiiiice ....
Boy howdy wasn't that some feat! I could have yanked that out with my Schwinn. Try doing it without cutting all the roots first. People will believe anything!
The drive train IS shock loaded before it starts slipping. And that doesn't look like a half inch chain to me, kinda looks like a strap. Just sayin'.
unexpected.
diesel power!
Deleware, of course
I'm not sure there was much danger of breaking hard parts on my truck. Breaking the strap or having the stump jump out of the ground quickly causing body damage is another story.
Jajajaj i know.. Good job
Not much of a root ball, my viburnum had more of a ball than that. Also, the roots have been cut all around the stump, you can see it in the video before the "pull". Kinda looks like they "planted" that stump for the pull. Nice truck though.
There was no cutting of the roots. The reason I chose to pull the stump with the truck was to avoid cutting any roots or trying to dig it out. The tree was dead however, and all the roots broke from the stump and stayed in the ground.
James Grove Jr well you did it right! thanks for the video - and great looking truck.
I could have done that with my Honda Civic - if I had one.
I prefer not to tear my equipment up. Drive trains are NOT designed to be shock loaded, neither are chains. Any decent stump can easily be taken out by a rather small track hoe with NO damage to equipment or potential risk of injury. I prefer to work smart.
Yeah, i'd rather break a thousand dollar part than spin tires on my grass. Good thing you didn;t tear up the grass, becuase that would look awful next to the huge hole in your yard. Good thinking.
that would of really hurt if that stump did,t give way
Too fast he risked to destroy his pickup
You really didn't have to go that fast...
A traction engine could've done about a dozen or those with less fuss & danger.
For all you scrubs talking about shock loading the strap and pulling slack out.. most pro comp straps are rated for well over 100,000 lbs, your truck cannot fuck it up.
Well when you put irrelevant things into the conversation, what do you expect?? Heck, you could've said 1" cable, it's still not part of the vid. You did say "WE'RE on dirt here". Just exactly which one in the video is you?
BTW, you may not break a 1/2" chain with a pickup, but sooner or later you're going to break the pickup.
10000 veiws 2 likes??
dodge bro.
Ha, don't own a truck. But this is not about power of a Dodge or any other truck. The tree root is shallow. The root has been cut all around. Not a tap root. It is basically a pretty small tree. I see nothing here to brag about. I could most likely pull the same tree trunk out with a garden tractor or even a car. A truck does not make the man who he is.
If a ford pulled that stump the stump would have won
sad to see that you guys think that we are all stupid, thumbs down
