When you are poor and struggling with a child without a car, you do whatever it takes to make it. She had no other option but to pick up her baby....blood in the backseat or abandon her at daycare. She did not have money for Uber/Lyft. She is barely making it. She does not have money or dental insurance to fix her teeth. She does not even have a washer/dryer. Hope all judgmental people are on their knees thanking God for all their resources and financial blessings.

Where was it illustrated that she was poor? She’s a single mother with a college degree. Just because she work at McDonald’s doesn’t mean she was making a little amount of money. She obviously could make it because she had her own place and was paying her rent. I don’t see anywhere in her testimony where her being “poor” came about

I have never seen a less productive cross examination of a witness. And the reason is because she is telling the absolute truth and is a prosecution's dream witness. All the defense attorney did was to highlight how credible this woman is. This is as close to a slam dunk as we will ever see in the courtroom.

Yes Maria Howard did a great job, some people on here don’t realize she just reconnected with him a couple week prior to this happening, he probably was stalking her too for a place to eat, sleep, chill out, his sister was probably tired of him too livin off her as he didn’t want to work, a bum! He was using several woman @ that, Maria had no clue, he was like a night shark stalking woman for money when she would go to sleep, I’m sure it’s not his first time, the judge said it best, I think She put up a fight, from the front seat to the back seat trying to get out, I think he was going to rob her but she saw his face while fighting so he killed her, poor girl had 30 dollars in the bank and now a life in jail for you the monster and you got nothin, he had no clue his car was on camera, how stupid are you cameras are all over everywhere! Maria sealed the deal as he was no longer able to use the story he fell asleep at a party and someone stole his car, he left from her house, this is the reason the defense could not put on a case, this busted his alibi “his made up story” He thought he was off scott free without a clue and they were already lookin for him, Great job Maria! Maria’s letter in the glove box was also key to finding all the evidence!

When she was asked why or how she knew he hadn’t spend the night she said because the blankets on her side of the bed were still neat and not like slept in. I dont blame her for not acting out of the ordinary. She obviously knew something wasn't right but she still had to take care of her responsibilities (work, rent, picking up her child etc.) She was literally minding her business because it had nothing to do with her. Also when an individual doesn't pose a threat to you or your child on an everyday basis, the last thing you would expect is that they have murdered someone in the car, whether or not there was blood in it. She's not stupid she kept questioning him throughout the two days and was expecting him to give her an answer. I'm sure if she thought at any point he posed a threat to her or their daughter she would have left or called the police. It must have been shocking to her when she saw the news and finally put two and two together. That's something difficult and shocking for someone to learn and accept. For all she knows he hit an animal, or got into a fight, or something happened with a friend that he didn't want to tell her or involve her. But I'm most certain she didn't think he murdered someone! For all you people that said "oh I would have called the police" you probably wouldn't know what to do until you had some answers! For all you know she was scared and acted calm to protect her and her child.
Respect to Maria for having to go through that ordeal. Must have been so scary! I'm glad her and her daughter are safe!

Totally credible. Hardworking woman, single mom to her child, didn’t have him living with her even though they were dating, he didn’t even sleep in her bed. You don’t see women like this often. I don’t blame her at all for riding in the car to get to work when she was already late, or for picking up her child in it. You don’t take your time finding another way when your child is in day care. If you don’t pick your child up when expected, or before hours are over there are serious consequences. The fact she lived out her normal routine and didn’t lose her cool with him probably saved her life!

If they did nothing it’ll open up opportunity for Rowland to file for an appeal for ineffective defense, which can result in a mistrial and retrial, a waste of tax payers money and a burden for the victim’s parents to go through the painful process again.

Or focus on the fact that she’s doing her best to make sure he gets convicted for murdering an innocent woman! Or focus on the fact she’s likely doing her best to get up in front of the world to speak truth on crime someone she loved committed while knowing petty people online are going to judge her and insult her while she’s on the stand trying to do the right thing! So instead of judging this woman how about having empathy for her or acknowledging the courage it’s taken her to get in front of the world knowing the criticism she’s going to be facing but choosing to do the right thing regardless of that! The world we live in seems to lack empathy.

@@rullmourn1142 Maria did not go to the police "as quick as she could." The cops went to her on April 3rd and took her in for questioning. At that time, she stated she did not know about the blood in the car. Then on April 6th, when they questioned her again, she stated she was too tired the first time they spoke to her to remember. Too tired to remember?
She saw the blood in his car and questioned Nate "why is blood in your car?" Then later on, at 8pm when she forgot her daughter at daycare, she picked her daughter up and put her in the same car she knew had blood in it. Maria also texted Nate with regard to her daughters shoes having blood on them. On March 29th or 30th, she said she saw on the news about the missing girl and a pic of Nate's car, even told his brother "that is Nate's car."
Nate was arrested on March 29th. Maria didn't think it was necessary to contact the police with regard to witnessing him cleaning up blood in his car? She waited till they came to her?
