Best tactic: meanwhile gets battered by every decent team in the video
I'm playing a similar tactic in my United save as well. A few differences for you to consider:
-Switch the sides of the AP and Mez, with the Mez and IF on the same side they both try to occupy the same channel while the channel on the right side is often unoccupied as you also have a winger there. This has gotten the most out of Rashford for me.
-Let shaw play WB-S, he is very good at carrying and putting in good crosses and will provide the width on the left as rashford tucks in
-Retrain Ignacio or KMJ to play IFB on the right so your back three can be Ignacio, KMJ, Lisandro
This has given the best balance to the team in my save, top of the prem and in the semis of the CL although with different signings.

One thing I've learnt playing FM is this; put your team tactic on Very Defensive when facing opponents stronger than you and if you're not too sure on the strength of your squad.
Somehow, some bullshit was pulled out of nowhere for my team to win at times. And if I do lose, it isn't frustrating

Great videos so far!! You should probably invert Antony when you play him. Also, I believe the winger on the side of the (AT) mezcal’s should be on support because that role is so aggressive. While the winger next t the playmaker on attack since it is a less aggressive role.
I like the shape you’ve built with the back line so far and I definitely will copy your system.

You need to narrow your IFs. the players are too disconnected when you have a team that likes to pass. And you must press more. I think that would really improve your consistency
This was my tactic last year in my Frankfurt save, it won me the treble in the 3rd season
Hey Tom, wondering if you are interested in running an experiment comparing the performance of your team in FM23 immediately before uploading the save to FM24 and comparing it to your match data in FM24? I've noticed a big uptick in passing accuracy in particular for my team in FM24, even though team cohesion is still languishing at poor / average. This is driving my possession to new levels and I'm starting to boss the competition around more than i would have been expecting in FM23. There are a number of people saying that FM24 is too easy. Would be good to get some data behind this to verify if that's the case by using the same tactic and squad in an FM23 environment compared to FM24.

I'm hoping my Vertical Tika TIka 4-2-3-1 DM AM system keeps working when i get FM24. Currently Champions League/Premier League holders with Wrexham and top of the league with 7 games to go and in UCL QF's still, so a double double is possible, Literally not seen anyone use this system but it works really well. I play BPD's and WB's, a DLP and BWM in CDM and then a IF and IW with a SS behind a AF.
you should definitely continue with the career-type videos!
Maybe where i go wrong is that I try and design clean slate tactics, rather than going with the pre set ones. The pre set instructions make little sense to me.....but theyre obviously there for a reason.

actually it is it goes into more of a three back with 4 midfielders and 3 attackers
@@f1_skiddy149 That's how most 4-3-3's have played in FM for years, wingbacks going forward and halfback dropping into CB or one fullback staying defensive. Nothing special lol

Hey! Couldn't you make a video where you show everything you do when starting a new save, I mean go through it all. Some would think it's boring and a long video but for n00bs like me it would be interesting. And I mean all! Everything from evaluating the squad, setting up tactics, looking over the training-ground, going through the staff, coaches in training, scouting and scouts, etc, etc, etc... Like EVERYTHING someone should do BEFORE even pushing TAB for the first time and all the way until the first league game where you'd consider yourself Ready, Set, Go!
Haven't been playing for a while but remembering how I'd spend hours in the beginning going through so much but perhaps there's better way.
Also obviously a heavy emphasis on tactics and those things, for instance - Pro's vs Cons on setting up your own tactic vs downloading one (like a Knap-tactic) and so forth... Like a "How to start a new save-video" :)

How do you set Libero in a 4 man defence like how Tom has it? The only way I can do it is if I put the Libero in the middle position, but then it leaves a gap on either side of the defence.
It’s a change they made in FM24, you can do it in a back 4 now. You can’t on previous additions

I tried 433 for hours without any success. I switched for a 343 and it seems a lot better. Remember. Tactics depends on your players.
I don't think the target system really works. Some players are unhappy about their game time. And I proposed a target and they just got pissed off most of the time

Don't you ever use shouts and change instructions during the game? It's like you don't take the time to change things to improve the result but expect things to get better. When you're down, you ask players to increase intensity, put mentality in attacking maybe if you're dominant but can't score, make a few tweaks, ask for more (in shouts, it works well generally). When you're 2-3 goals ahead, you can lower the intensity to prevent injuries and reduce the fatigue, etc.
You're just subbing players and expecting things to be great.
And do you play with only 1 tactic? I'm frustrated the game only allows 3 at the same time because you have to prepare your team for several tactics (2 can even have the same formation but different roles and demands) so you can adjust to the opponent. The fact that Bayern just destroys you and you do nothing is weird. I get that you're not aiming for top1 in the group but losing 5-1... Ouch
Tom very much comes across as someone who puts the tactic in and then waits out the rest. I'm not sure if that's how he actually plays, but I don't get the impression he's constantly looking to make the tactic work. Bayern were attacking down the flanks and he could have "easily" adjusted that formation to make it harder for them.
