This is also the reason people get bored of UT so quickly, they set the bar too high, too soon with the cards they release. I miss when it was actually exciting to pack an inform player. Now you can pack a 90 rated player who sells for 20K and performs like a 60 rated player because they don't have good playstyles.

You can't blame the players for buying FIFA points, it's like partially blaming gamblers for keeping casinos afloat. Just like casinos, EA are predatory and they prey on the addictability of the human mind, giving you small doses of dopamine, but not too much, to keep you coming back for more. And it's a 7+ age restricted game, so they're literally targetting children of 7+ yrs with gambling. You can't blame a 7 yr old who got hooked by EA's predatory money-grabbing tactics in an innocent looking football game for buying FIFA points. EA are the only problem here, not the players.

Now they pump out cards I dont even know, and with 50 different colors and designs :( Stimulates the new generations dopamine receptors, and they dont understand how its fucking the whole game up :/

Because it’s literally the best game mode. As a kid on fifa 07 I used to dream of something like ultimate team and I finally got that 2 years later. Try to imagine playing something so fun and engaging and never having that sort of fun again nearly 15 years later.. just because EA are greedy and just don’t engage with their community or listen. The game is awful anyone who disagrees clearly didn’t play fifa 09-17 and I genuinely feel bad for them. THEY were the football games we all loved playing back then.
What killed it for me was how easy it became to build insane teams. Everyone you meet has 94 rated cards of players that you've barely heard of. Makes no sense to have some random player from Atalanta or whatever being the same rating as the best players in the game. Having even one tots back then was a big deal. Plus it became a grind to get rewards just to stack up against everyone else, instead of being a fun experience building your team from scratch
It only went downhills from fifa 17. from promos once or twice a month to every Friday. They literally killed the meaning of having an icon in your team by involving promo icons every week. I remember everyone had gold cards in their teams til January. Now by November everyone had a full icon and promo team. I don’t even mention gameplay because this has been an issue forever, but in the past at least the finishing was kinda good, so you accepted it. Now I score more finesses from outside the box and dumb flick ups into powershots than clear 1vs1 with the gk. It’s sad what they did OUR childhood game.
Finishing is a joke this season, they made all gameplay decision around the new playstyles which was a bad decision. I agree with the cards, by November we were getting cards that you would usually see in February/march time
Having so many promos is cool imo cause it gives us a chance to try top tier cards and by futties you can try 99 rated cards which is kinda awesome. My problem with the ea is the DDA and scripted matches. Just give me a good consistent gameplay and remove the micro transactions or at least improve the pack weight and you will have a decent game.
The problems you're describing have been prominent since FIFA 22, which is actually where it all went downhill. FIFA 17 to FIFA 21 was peak; sure, the gameplay wasn't perfect, but the content and powercurve, as well as EA's effort in the game were amazing.

Yeah the players don’t feel responsiveness because everything is overly animated and that’s takes away the feeling that ur actually controlling them but rather just like triggering a quick cutscene
The UA-camrs are as big a reason for the downfall of FUT as the coin providers. They are essentially the reason trading and price ranges were introduced. If they didn't make FUT a literal profession, the game could have been fun for much longer than it was. When the market was open and coins were harder to come by, it added a whole extra dimension to the game.
The problem is that since FIFA 17 EA started making the game more enjoyable for themselves, instead of making it more enjoyable for the players. That killed it. Once UFL, Goals and Fifa2K come out, EA will struggle really bad

You're incorrect. Buying the game is no problem however buying fifa points is the reason the game is how it is. They make the majority of their revenue through fifa points so you can blame fifa point buyers not people who enjoy career node or pro clubs
As a PC player the only way I’ll even touch EA games is EA play. I grew up on their games and have watched each franchise they have get worse. A real shame for me as I truly love almost every sport so I almost always find myself going back to something made by EA or 2k. It’s tough. Buying packs through MTXs is definitely the biggest problem attached to these games. They shouldn’t even be yearly release let alone MTX prone.

Nice video. I started playing fifa back in 1998. I used to buy it on the release day every year. I got FUT Founder status and was hooked on ultimate team. I remember in the first couple years of FUT, my end team would have solid gold cards. Id work all season to built a team of gold cards: Kompany, thiago silva, luis suarez, Gareth Bale, etc. But when they started releasing weekly promos, I got turned off the game. Weekly informs became useless. Theyre releasing so much product and playing into people's FOMO. People grind the game just for the chance to open some packs. End up getting sbc fodder and get turned off the game.

You could also see who listed the player on the market before and then thy changed it. Below the player on the market it used to say who listed the player. They took that away approximately at the same time as they started with the price limits. All this was in the middle of fifa 15 or fifa 16 I belive.
Ended up quitting the game myself a week or so ago, but what got on my nerves at the end wasn't just how shitty ea is, but the player base. Out of 30 straight champ games, there wasn't a single player who didn't try to score from kick off; like running straight hoping the EA Ai gave them the goal. The people currently playing deserve the game they get, while those of us who want better are shafted. It's okay, there are other games to play. Just put 18hours into Dragons Dogma 2 and really enjoying it. :)

I'm probably never going to play anymore. I remember when I wished some player performed great in real life just to get an "inform" or "Man of the Match" (MOTM) card. Then came a few events... Now it's just completely random. There are so many events that every single player can have a legendary card, even if he doesn't play in real life. Cards with random stats and positions. How I hate this man, thats sad. And now women and men play together in WL, just ridiculous.
What makes the 12-17 era so good was the fact that you had to be creative with players. FIFA 12 you would see Liga MX silver teams that would slap your high rated gold teams and it would make you want to try those cards. Nowadays you play a game and you VVD in every defense, Mbappe in every attack, etc. Since everyone uses those busted cards, nobody wants to play a creative squad because you will just get absolutely blasted every game which is also not fun. Winning a game means too much in today’s fifa. So people just play with the same OP squads all year and abuse the same mechanics. It’s not about the love of the sport anymore, it’s about grinding to get the bigger better Mbappe card.
Just sad its going downhill like this. They barely care about modes like Career Mode and Pro Clubs. Even new modes like The Journey they stopped. And in FUT they ruined the gameplay big time and also we have no more fun mode to play for fun. Almost all modes has SBMM which makes it tiresome to play only competitive modes. And now with the whole store packs content the weight on the normal grind is just awful. So sad to see that EA is this bad...
Pro clubs hasn’t seen any major changes for so long and neither have other game modes, Ea only care about FUT because that’s what beings them in the most money. Unfortunately both Ea and the people that buy packs are to blame
We had the exact same bugs for the past 4-5 releases of fifa games in career mode. Nobody lost a single word about it and about how this point towards ea just copy pasting the game every year. One bad thing happens to FUT and everyone jumps on the barricade, absolutely pathetic.
A main reason why I wouldn’t touch FUT now is that they added women’s cards into packs. The entire point of the mode is to build a crazy squad of the worlds best players and the fact is that 90%+ of people playing haven’t heard of any of these players, plus the fact you get a 5’ 1” female striker rated the same as Harry Kane. It’s just a joke at this point.

Its very true. I’m an old-timer (have played fifa since 05). It just became shit. They need to focus on the offline game modes (career mode), fix the gameplay in UT and the stupid amounts of packs - otherwise it’ll become increasingly more boring.
Fifa's gameplay just kept getting worse and worse after 17. 17 was the last fifa where I actually bothered to play ultimate team. Since then I've only played the games for pro clubs and the best way to describe that is hell. Pro clubs has seen some of the absolute worst of fifa gameplay ever. Pro clubs went from being a game mode about creating your own Pro, playing with teammates and cementing yourself and your team as the best, to having to exploit broken tactics and metas in the game to win simply because you cannot play the game mode conventionally. Over the years I've noticed EA take away the control from the player and just rely on what they think should happen in the game. To make matters worse, the DDA or scripting has been one of the worst implementations I have ever witnessed in any game ever.
I kind of like the slower pace of fifa 24, my problem with fifa is that they put so many special card now that by november UT looks more like a fifa street match than a football match, that and the fact that it´s clearly over monetized, oh almost forgot, my other problem with fifa 24 is the glitchy gameplay, right pace, too much gitches
The number 1 killer of Ultimate Team was them adding female players. As soon as the women were added every single person i know that played Ultimate Team stopped.
I only ever played the league mode with the standard teams. Boy did I waste a lot of my time every year trying to get into league 1. That was actually a somewhat rewarding gameplay loop until they introduced bullshit like the timed shot when Ronaldo would score from 40m away. Or when the short corner kick with a header into the far post was the main way to score. But on FUT it must've been even worse. Btw. Geat video mate! Seing the old FIFAs made me quite nostalgic.
I mostly used to play career mode before fifa 13/14 but it got really stale for me, they weren’t really introducing many new features which was a shame. Appreciate it mate✌🏻
Everyone has been complaining about FUT, or FIFA in general, for years but end up buying it every year again. FIFA 18 was my last FIFA. I regained my sanity since I stopped played the newer games.
I agree with you. I have played every FIFA since 07, and I started playing FUT at FIFA 12, but I really got going on FIFA 13. I have always been a player that plays all aspects of the game, be pro clubs, fut or career mode. I played FIFA 23 for the entire cycle, but I felt fed up with EA's bullshit. With them pushing promos every week, you know that your team is going to be out of date in about 14 days, that just kills the game for me. And I did not buy EA FC 24, and seeing my friends stop playing around November-December, I feel like I made the right choice. FIFA is just dumb now, I get that they want to push it in to being a E-sports, and they have the E-sports part inside of FUT to make it so that players have to spend money to be able to compete. But thats just dumb, as a person who have competed in esports in games like CS, I can tell you that FIFA will never be seen as a good e-sport until they remove the pay-to-win aspect of the E-sport mode. If EA wanted to fix their game (they don't, since it is making them billions of dollars right now), they would: 1. Remove Rivals, and get back Seasons. 2. Remove price ranges, and add back trading. (There are better ways to stop real-world-trading) 3. Push Champions out of Ultimate Team, make it a seperate part of the game. 4. Stop releasing promos every week. 5. Bring back the arcadyness of the game. No one wants to play a game that wants to be like a badly run simulator.
The only E-sports fifa should have should be around Pro clubs Imo. It allows for less fifa moments that make people feel like they’ve been cheated. However like you say, they have done it with FUT so that they can make money from it.
The funny thing is it's still much better than the version we have here in Korea. Here even if you have a 90+ rated player, your opponent will have a 127 rated version of the same player.
For me the gameplay went from bad to unplayable since the PS5 versions . They just can;t get good gameplay on the PS5 and now the Ps 4 versions are also very bad. The game is just not enjoyable to play.
The price ranges and wager situation was because of the fifa youtubers pushing coin sellers constantly. I remember ksi making a video about price ranges and 99% of the comments stating "but its your fault" same with w2s burning his copy of fifa. I think thats mostly ignored these days, as coin sellers are still around, but not as prominent.

Great video. One major disagreement I have is I actually think adding price ranges was a good thing. Pre-price ranges fake coins were over inflating the price of everything. Unfortunately trading also had to be taken out to get rid of the coin selling. It really hasn’t been until the last 2-3 years that things got really bad. I really enjoyed 17-18 myself.
Ultimate Team is trash. They put all that effort into that P2W game mode. Built for single people, or children with their parents credit cards. Long Live Pro Clubs. Thank God this game mode is dying.

Yea, its the only game where I am so used to losing, I don't always play to win, but rather just to complete an objective or earn some coins. Losing 3-10 just feels normal to me. I don't have any 90+ rated players, I can't really trade to improve my team, so I'm basically stuck at losing most games.

Fifa 13 was probably the best ever. Sebastian giovinco for Juve was the ultimate left bumper + through ball glitch ever. His pace was unstoppable, not even a man mark could stop him from breaking the line and having 10+ yards for a break away.

I myself have never spent money on points, because in casino's the house always wins. The Fifa skill gap is a farce too because player experience is more enhanced by the juiced player, by that I mean the ones that puts their money into the game. The guys that doesn't put money into the game gets baited too from time; by wins against juiced players and a good pack from time to time. I agree with you 💯. Getting into FUT now is such a grind unless you're willing to spend several times what the game is worth for a squad you would actually pick, legends and all. I've bought one pack with the game for £10 worth of points since starting and refuse to buy more, making do with an 89-92 rated squad for most of the game, when others may have 93+ all around. End of season now and the grind becomes easier, now have a 98-99 rated squad all round with players I love. It is the consumer at fault as much as EA though as people need to vote with their wallets. Those that have deep pockets ruin it for those that don't and now everything is decided by shareholders, EA won't change unless people do. Reality sucks.

I remember growing up I only got every couple of games that came out with my last one being FIFA 08 possibly. Just got 24 on gamepass and I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would but I probably missed some of the glory years of Ultimate Team.
They neglected every mode outside of FUT. Then FUT made every player you received untradeable so if you were f2p and didn’t play FUT champs the game mode was just not fun anymore.

What killed it for me was how easy it became to build insane teams. Everyone you meet has 94 rated cards of players that you've barely heard of. Makes no sense to have some random player from Atalanta or whatever being the same rating as the best players in the game. Having even one tots back then was a big deal.
Plus it became a grind to get rewards just to stack up against everyone else, instead of being a fun experience building your team from scratch
To be fair it’s plenty of fun for new players cuze they get Tots every week and very good players in challenges

It only went downhills from fifa 17. from promos once or twice a month to every Friday. They literally killed the meaning of having an icon in your team by involving promo icons every week. I remember everyone had gold cards in their teams til January. Now by November everyone had a full icon and promo team.
I don’t even mention gameplay because this has been an issue forever, but in the past at least the finishing was kinda good, so you accepted it. Now I score more finesses from outside the box and dumb flick ups into powershots than clear 1vs1 with the gk. It’s sad what they did OUR childhood game.
Finishing is a joke this season, they made all gameplay decision around the new playstyles which was a bad decision. I agree with the cards, by November we were getting cards that you would usually see in February/march time
Having so many promos is cool imo cause it gives us a chance to try top tier cards and by futties you can try 99 rated cards which is kinda awesome. My problem with the ea is the DDA and scripted matches. Just give me a good consistent gameplay and remove the micro transactions or at least improve the pack weight and you will have a decent game.

The problems you're describing have been prominent since FIFA 22, which is actually where it all went downhill. FIFA 17 to FIFA 21 was peak; sure, the gameplay wasn't perfect, but the content and powercurve, as well as EA's effort in the game were amazing.

Yeah the players don’t feel responsiveness because everything is overly animated and that’s takes away the feeling that ur actually controlling them but rather just like triggering a quick cutscene
They have tried to make players feel and act more realistic which just doesn’t work and makes them feel worse than they felt back in fifa 14

The UA-camrs are as big a reason for the downfall of FUT as the coin providers. They are essentially the reason trading and price ranges were introduced. If they didn't make FUT a literal profession, the game could have been fun for much longer than it was. When the market was open and coins were harder to come by, it added a whole extra dimension to the game.
The problem is that since FIFA 17 EA started making the game more enjoyable for themselves, instead of making it more enjoyable for the players. That killed it. Once UFL, Goals and Fifa2K come out, EA will struggle really bad

fifa's 6 year stretch from 12-17 will always be my favorite video game of all time , so many hours i poured into that game

As a PC player the only way I’ll even touch EA games is EA play. I grew up on their games and have watched each franchise they have get worse. A real shame for me as I truly love almost every sport so I almost always find myself going back to something made by EA or 2k. It’s tough. Buying packs through MTXs is definitely the biggest problem attached to these games. They shouldn’t even be yearly release let alone MTX prone.

I got FUT Founder status and was hooked on ultimate team. I remember in the first couple years of FUT, my end team would have solid gold cards. Id work all season to built a team of gold cards:
Kompany, thiago silva, luis suarez, Gareth Bale, etc.
But when they started releasing weekly promos, I got turned off the game.
Weekly informs became useless. Theyre releasing so much product and playing into people's FOMO.
People grind the game just for the chance to open some packs. End up getting sbc fodder and get turned off the game.

You could also see who listed the player on the market before and then thy changed it. Below the player on the market it used to say who listed the player. They took that away approximately at the same time as they started with the price limits. All this was in the middle of fifa 15 or fifa 16 I belive.

Ended up quitting the game myself a week or so ago, but what got on my nerves at the end wasn't just how shitty ea is, but the player base. Out of 30 straight champ games, there wasn't a single player who didn't try to score from kick off; like running straight hoping the EA Ai gave them the goal. The people currently playing deserve the game they get, while those of us who want better are shafted. It's okay, there are other games to play. Just put 18hours into Dragons Dogma 2 and really enjoying it. :)

I'm probably never going to play anymore. I remember when I wished some player performed great in real life just to get an "inform" or "Man of the Match" (MOTM) card. Then came a few events... Now it's just completely random. There are so many events that every single player can have a legendary card, even if he doesn't play in real life. Cards with random stats and positions. How I hate this man, thats sad. And now women and men play together in WL, just ridiculous.
What makes the 12-17 era so good was the fact that you had to be creative with players.
FIFA 12 you would see Liga MX silver teams that would slap your high rated gold teams and it would make you want to try those cards.
Nowadays you play a game and you VVD in every defense, Mbappe in every attack, etc. Since everyone uses those busted cards, nobody wants to play a creative squad because you will just get absolutely blasted every game which is also not fun.
Winning a game means too much in today’s fifa. So people just play with the same OP squads all year and abuse the same mechanics. It’s not about the love of the sport anymore, it’s about grinding to get the bigger better Mbappe card.
Just sad its going downhill like this. They barely care about modes like Career Mode and Pro Clubs. Even new modes like The Journey they stopped. And in FUT they ruined the gameplay big time and also we have no more fun mode to play for fun. Almost all modes has SBMM which makes it tiresome to play only competitive modes. And now with the whole store packs content the weight on the normal grind is just awful. So sad to see that EA is this bad...
Pro clubs hasn’t seen any major changes for so long and neither have other game modes, Ea only care about FUT because that’s what beings them in the most money. Unfortunately both Ea and the people that buy packs are to blame
We had the exact same bugs for the past 4-5 releases of fifa games in career mode. Nobody lost a single word about it and about how this point towards ea just copy pasting the game every year. One bad thing happens to FUT and everyone jumps on the barricade, absolutely pathetic.
A main reason why I wouldn’t touch FUT now is that they added women’s cards into packs. The entire point of the mode is to build a crazy squad of the worlds best players and the fact is that 90%+ of people playing haven’t heard of any of these players, plus the fact you get a 5’ 1” female striker rated the same as Harry Kane. It’s just a joke at this point.

Its very true. I’m an old-timer (have played fifa since 05). It just became shit. They need to focus on the offline game modes (career mode), fix the gameplay in UT and the stupid amounts of packs - otherwise it’ll become increasingly more boring.
Fifa's gameplay just kept getting worse and worse after 17. 17 was the last fifa where I actually bothered to play ultimate team. Since then I've only played the games for pro clubs and the best way to describe that is hell. Pro clubs has seen some of the absolute worst of fifa gameplay ever.
Pro clubs went from being a game mode about creating your own Pro, playing with teammates and cementing yourself and your team as the best, to having to exploit broken tactics and metas in the game to win simply because you cannot play the game mode conventionally. Over the years I've noticed EA take away the control from the player and just rely on what they think should happen in the game. To make matters worse, the DDA or scripting has been one of the worst implementations I have ever witnessed in any game ever.
I kind of like the slower pace of fifa 24, my problem with fifa is that they put so many special card now that by november UT looks more like a fifa street match than a football match, that and the fact that it´s clearly over monetized, oh almost forgot, my other problem with fifa 24 is the glitchy gameplay, right pace, too much gitches
Ideally it should allow you to play anyway you like, some people prefer slower some faster gameplay, there should be a good balance between the 2
The number 1 killer of Ultimate Team was them adding female players. As soon as the women were added every single person i know that played Ultimate Team stopped.
For me what killed the run was custom tactics .. that whole dropback dont touch the defense counter meta is so boring to play against
I only ever played the league mode with the standard teams. Boy did I waste a lot of my time every year trying to get into league 1. That was actually a somewhat rewarding gameplay loop until they introduced bullshit like the timed shot when Ronaldo would score from 40m away. Or when the short corner kick with a header into the far post was the main way to score. But on FUT it must've been even worse.

Everyone has been complaining about FUT, or FIFA in general, for years but end up buying it every year again. FIFA 18 was my last FIFA. I regained my sanity since I stopped played the newer games.
I agree with you. I have played every FIFA since 07, and I started playing FUT at FIFA 12, but I really got going on FIFA 13. I have always been a player that plays all aspects of the game, be pro clubs, fut or career mode. I played FIFA 23 for the entire cycle, but I felt fed up with EA's bullshit. With them pushing promos every week, you know that your team is going to be out of date in about 14 days, that just kills the game for me. And I did not buy EA FC 24, and seeing my friends stop playing around November-December, I feel like I made the right choice.
FIFA is just dumb now, I get that they want to push it in to being a E-sports, and they have the E-sports part inside of FUT to make it so that players have to spend money to be able to compete. But thats just dumb, as a person who have competed in esports in games like CS, I can tell you that FIFA will never be seen as a good e-sport until they remove the pay-to-win aspect of the E-sport mode.
If EA wanted to fix their game (they don't, since it is making them billions of dollars right now), they would:
1. Remove Rivals, and get back Seasons.
2. Remove price ranges, and add back trading. (There are better ways to stop real-world-trading)
3. Push Champions out of Ultimate Team, make it a seperate part of the game.
4. Stop releasing promos every week.
5. Bring back the arcadyness of the game. No one wants to play a game that wants to be like a badly run simulator.
The only E-sports fifa should have should be around Pro clubs Imo. It allows for less fifa moments that make people feel like they’ve been cheated. However like you say, they have done it with FUT so that they can make money from it.

Pre-price ranges fake coins were over inflating the price of everything. Unfortunately trading also had to be taken out to get rid of the coin selling.

Yea, its the only game where I am so used to losing, I don't always play to win, but rather just to complete an objective or earn some coins. Losing 3-10 just feels normal to me. I don't have any 90+ rated players, I can't really trade to improve my team, so I'm basically stuck at losing most games.

In FIFA 15 I almost got to Division 1 with 4-3-1-2 French Team with Base gold cards. My last FIFA was 19.

Fifa 13 was probably the best ever. Sebastian giovinco for Juve was the ultimate left bumper + through ball glitch ever. His pace was unstoppable, not even a man mark could stop him from breaking the line and having 10+ yards for a break away.

I myself have never spent money on points, because in casino's the house always wins. The Fifa skill gap is a farce too because player experience is more enhanced by the juiced player, by that I mean the ones that puts their money into the game. The guys that doesn't put money into the game gets baited too from time; by wins against juiced players and a good pack from time to time. Getting into FUT now is such a grind unless you're willing to spend several times what the game is worth for a squad you would actually pick, legends and all. I've bought one pack with the game for £10 worth of points since starting and refuse to buy more, making do with an 89-92 rated squad for most of the game, when others may have 93+ all around. End of season now and the grind becomes easier, now have a 98-99 rated squad all round with players I love.
It is the consumer at fault as much as EA though as people need to vote with their wallets. Those that have deep pockets ruin it for those that don't and now everything is decided by shareholders, EA won't change unless people do. Reality sucks.

I remember growing up I only got every couple of games that came out with my last one being FIFA 08 possibly. Just got 24 on gamepass and I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would but I probably missed some of the glory years of Ultimate Team.
They neglected every mode outside of FUT. Then FUT made every player you received untradeable so if you were f2p and didn’t play FUT champs the game mode was just not fun anymore.
