I get music from Epidemic Sound, here's a referral link: www.epidemicso...
I should note that my hdzero cam that I used in this video is messed up and wouldn’t stay in focus and that’s why it looks blurry. Usually hdzero is more crisp but I was tired of messing with it.
@grimripperrr thank you bro. I thought you were going blind or just bull shitting 🤣
I'm a teen learning to fly fpv, and honestly over time analog has been really cool to see how most video feeds from everything were back in the day. Since the time I remember watching TV, its always been HD. I hated the video at first but now I find it as another cool way to experience the world.
I do get captivated by the absolute wizardry that's going on in these HD systems, as I gaze at a crystal clear sunrise. But I need to tinker. Analog is way more tinker friendly.
I get it. Its hard to watch stuff pre-2010, before HD broadcasts. But I love the gritty feel of that analog video link.
Analog is just so simple and easy to use. Works amazing on any quad for any purpose. Analog is Fpv.
I personally find digital easier to set up.......
“Analogue is fpv” man that shit hits hard
@@gmivisualsjason3729 yeah digital is great too and if its easier thats great! just have fun flying!
It's damn cheap that's all
@@Michelsen3K lol yeah and for whoops flies way better
I started with digital, and eventually switched all my kwads over to analog. More confidence in the link, and significantly cheaper!
DJI has a more reliable link then analog but the variable latency makes it really sketchy to fly sometimes.
@@Nastee_FPV Unless you are flying long range beyond 20km, DJI have much better penetration then analog. Try go 700 meter and then behind a building on analog ...
@@KainniaK Naw, I’ll still roll with analog any day. DJI is strictly for my wings now. Variable latency = not reliable imo
@@Nastee_FPV But how often do you hit a cable you did not see on analog?
@@KainniaK never lol
Analog is GOAT.
Analog for the win!
Looks like even xjet agrees. The analog looks way better than hdzero
@@Smagsfpvhdz is just temu analog
@@rainsquadfpv LMFAO. jackpot
Been flying analog since 2018. Started flying Walksnail at the beginning of the year - there is no going back.
amen
analog for life 🫡
I'm exclusive analog because it works fine and I can't afford to go digital. Besides, I already have all this analog crap.
Ya me too

Analog looks so retro and cool
the affordability, ease of use, low latency, and heritage makes analog a no brainer for me. I love HDZero but until its more affordable analog will always have its place
1.6w analog with vas antennas and 04x is pretty good.
Nice video Grim . I still like flying analog with my Tinywhoops 🤘🏻🚀
I feel like analog out performed the hdzero behind the building imo. That analog is crispy too 😮
Yes there's still break up but I find the rainbow sparkles annoying AF. Maybe feel OK flying but it disturbs me more just watching the DVR.
Well @Grim Ripper, you;ve said the unthinkable now! Congrats on being the first person I've ever seen do a "fair" comparison, i.e. in PAL mode. Most people set their stuff to NTSC because yada yada yada latency, but of course as we all know, NTSC stands for "Never Twice the Same Colour". Then they compare that to digital and rave about the quality. I suspect in an aples-to-apples comparison there is less difference thatn anyone wants to admit, its just a matter of chosing your style of breakup.
To be honest being in PAL wasn’t intentional, it was just what the camera was set to and I really had no idea what the difference was, which is why I switched it in the goggles because I was getting frame studdering. So I guess it was a happy accident
@@grimripperrr Bob Ross would be proud 🥲
Just the analog cameras we have today are a massive step forward compared to what we had ten years ago.
I love that everyone was looking for stock of digital parts .. I'm over here buying up old analog gear ⚙️ for the win
Colours on analog are so much natural than HDZero. HDZero looks more like a cartoon 😂
With the best Gear analog look still Amazing
I'm new to fpv. And I continue to be amazed with analog
Analog never dies! Never!
Nice Vid, Bro!
Analog Baby!!!!
im flyin analog
Analog to Digital (ADC) or Digital to Analog Conversion (DAC) is always going to cause a slight delay because it has to go through a process (Filtering, Sampling, Quantizing, Encoding, Streaming) between transmitter and receiver and vice versa
3:08 That "whip antenna" that is better than your other "omni" antenna might be because it is the closest thing to an omni (360 deg is impossible technically) and your other antenna was much more directional. There are a million factors though, and RF is weird AF and a rabbit hole with no end.
Edit: It looks like a sleeve dipole which is actually very good, it's just in the FPV world we tend to love these shiny engineered antennas in big plastic cases with a big price tag.
I had to put a whip antenna on a Sub250g build with DJI O3 recently to get the weight down… damn thing is better than the one that comes with the air unit and it’s half in the frame
@@GarethDix Awesome
Analog is still KING and that will not change anytime soon
Awesome video and sick flying bro!! Keep the videos coming!
Analog rules!
Analog has less latency on a normal analog goggle. I'm not sure how the Dji goggles effect that. For me I always have both goggles and setups when I go out and fly, there are areas that I know how to read through the breakup to keep my rig up whereas on digital, it would have knocked me out. I've been flying since 2015 so maybe its that I'm used to it, but I also seem to forget that the video is lower quality after a few min under the goggle, and only switch to my HD goggles do I notice it. I think it has its uses and I don't ever see not using it when in certain scenarios. Other than that, keep up the great flying, love this spot you got.
I started an analog and have done it for quite some time but the type of flying that I do in Bandos deep in the trees and some distance away HD will always be the way for me now can see so much more and confident with it not just glitching out and losing video
I'm running 8 quads now of different sizes and half are analog, half are walksnail, but honestly I love both. Never really decided on one or the other so I just left them as is. Havent tried HDZero yet though, I might one day.
That analog was looking good, what cam you running Grim?
Love analog, it reminds me when I'd take my pops big ol VHS camera to make videos with my friends That Analog Lyf
The longer HDZero is out, the less I want to upgrade to it. I'd like DJI for penetration when I find places to need it & when I'm "gud" enough. But for the past 3 years & the next couple, I see no reason to upgrade to anything. Anal Log for the forseeable future for this guy.
I still use analog. The trick is tbs or rushfpv VTXS, and foxeer toothless nano, or caddx baby ratel cameras. Those are my 2 main cameras. Some stuff I have the caddx ant v2, but I want the baby ratel in everything. The luminier edition baby ratel is dope
love the retro funk + 4:3 !
quality content
Same range with similar breakup.
That was really interesting,thank you.
RushFPV Solo Tank is very close to hdzero quality. It's what is holding me from switching to digital.
What analog vtx vrx and cam are you using? Your analog looks great👍🏻
Amazing spot! Awesome rippage!
Love my analog, DJI is great and all but analog just feels great, and thats the most important
Im jamming Primus way too loud to hear you but I still took the time to this comment
Honestly the breakup with analog is far more flyable than the breakup from hdzero ... It terms of level of breakup, they are similar but analog is far more flyable when it gets bad than hdzero. I flew analog for years (7-8 years) .. Switched to hdzero and flew that for a couple of years and have since moved on to DJI o3... I'm not going back now.
I flew analog all rampage this year despite having 3 digital quads with me lol. You really cant beat it for bashing still
I love my analog quad when it's not alot of concrete or a shit ton of trees but as much as I hate dji as a company nothing compares to the trust I have with my dji system on my freestyle quads....the penetration and range reliability make it to where I can fully trust my shit to take those spicy chances.....my analog always seems to break up at worst moment during a dive or a gap and I end up climbing something to get it back.....also never broken a go pro from losing signal on my digital quad but I have lost 2 on my analog....but I will aways have at least 1 analog quad....I fly analog on elrrs 1 watt 250 hz and fly my digital on 1watt 500hz
And I fly with mad mushroom and crosshair extreme on rapid fire for analog before anyone comments about that lol....I'm also in florida where everything is saturated with water so it doesn't help
i started with analoge so i cant hate on it bc thats when i started to love it so much but digital is just a better experience
I understood that in analog I strain my eyes much more, I asked my eye doctor who confirmed what he said, I believe that the best system to strain my eyes less is the digital one from DJI in its latest versions, what do you think?
Analog is still better than hdzero IMO. I've been flying 11 years and I still think analog is more consistent than hdzero for sure!!
Down with the Digital Propaganda!!!!🤣😂🤣 I couldn't agree more @Grim Ripper! Hey man, thanks for the real world unbiased content! Also extremely valuable content. The amount of money ths information can put back in one's pocket is immense! That was pretty great analog footage, but it even can get better believe it or not.. try Trappys new TBS UNIFY Pro32 V2 (gold one, 3 watt) and the foxeer T Rex Mini on your 5 inch total cost about $99 bucks and you'll have the most amazing analog picture ever
I fly analog, hdz, and Walksnail. Everything has its purpose. In racing hdz is king. The image quality and latency are better than analog. Big downside is the cost... and the new eco vtx is crap.
Walksnail is the Digital price to performance King and way easier to use than dji (fuck that registration bs).
Analog is king if u are on a budget. And with a decent cam it reminds me of my childhood and VHS.
Yuppp
u cannot see with anolog after flying dji end of, and for HDZERO it looks like a fogged up dji lense and the breakup is unflyable imo
The lens is bad on this camera, and I couldn’t keep it in focus. Or I think the camera body threads are stripped. Idk but that specific camera is bad either way.
Love me some new tech!
Analog is really good! But the HDZero goggles are weird with it... I sold mine because of that. The 'glitches' are poorly handled
Yes
Nice. if you have a tbs fusion to borrow from a friend I would try this. The breakup especially with hdzero goggle is quite a bit smoother still than the weird black bars you get on rapidfire. I much prefer the fusion module for these goggles
Yep that's how I would see it too. Try a non diversity receiver, there should be less latency.
I will only go to digital for LR but $$$
Analog using HDZ goggles though.. I get it and started with HDZ so you've already bought into the ecosystem and it's a big boon that it has HDMI IN/OUT as well the ability to host Analog as well. Just saying and I've wanted to buy into some Analog gear as well just to have and be part of what once was. only a few hours from you up on NE Ohio so maybe one day I'll make it down to CBus and away from the rural areas. Cheers!
Whats your analog setup? Foxeer t-rex / PAL?
Which analog module and goggles are you using? Bensonk mentioned that it doesn't look like a fusion module.
ANALOG!!! I'm broke. Can't afford digital. And to be honest I'm happy with analog
I have come back into FPV after a few years off, all my analog gear still works. Comparing it to my mates new DJI gear the difference is insane, but after 30 seconds in the goggles with analog it makes no difference. Can you honestly say you notice the difference in the middle of a trick? I don't notice that, I'm too focussed on flying.
Just my opinion but the analog looked 100 times better than do you really like hdzero or only fly it and a whip antenna because bot says so? Serious question
I don't enjoy analog flying. I don't apologize for it - I like digital flying!
So your saying you like latency
have you tried raising your cam angle? i flew like this angle too for the longest time until I tried a higher angle and now I fly way better
Is that the foxeer module?
Its a Fact that Analog video has less latency then digital an your radio link is going to be slower then your video! Analogs latency is at 6ms an the radio i use is at 11ms so typically you would never out fly your video link!
With that camera focus, your hdzero has the same detail as analog lol
Short answer: yes. Long answer: yes, b'y!
If you're a videographer, mount a GoPro. If you can't fly with analog, you're the problem, see?
I still fly analog. I like the look
I want HD zero.... But I got no problem with my reliable old analog.
My stuffs all analog still, it's cheaper when I break it and I can't see shit anyway. But I should try digital. Any recommendations? Hdzero, walksnail, dji, caddx whatever?
It depends who you ask on what video system to pick,I use HDZero, but I did use DJI for a bit, and the video quality was clear and you can navigate through structures better, but you sacrifice being able to fly as fast in my opinion, some people say they don't notice the latency, but if you fly DJI for a few months then fly HDZero for a few months, you might notice it. I flew walksnail once on someone else's quad but It wasn't the ideal experience.
@@grimripperrr Thanks, leaning towards hdzero at this point but either way it's $$$. Got to see what stuffs the most durable next cause I'm definitely going to break it. Fly, break shit, fix shit, repeat lol
@@grimripperrr imo the advantage of Walksnail is in the goggles. If you go with DJI you must stick with DJI. Some Walksnail goggles can be extended with analog receiver for small toothpicks, for example.
@@Schlapahoe I’m not gonna persuade anyone either way because the only way to know is to use it. I have 3 sets of goggles for this very reason.
I liked when he said he's "believed the digital propaganda for too long", lol... Only reason there is more latency on analog for him is that he isn't using analog goggles... digital goggles have to add extra latency because they first add an extra processing step to convert the analog on top of its normal digital stuff, think that actually uses the same processor so it may make that work harder too which could slow it down (but thats just a guess), analog goggles don't have the extra hdzero digital signal processing, i am currently switching from my hdo2 goggles to goggles X and there is definitely added latency comparing the 2! Was going to sell the hdo2 but don't think i am now... Just incase i get into racing. I know the hdzero goggles are definitely the most comfy though! plus analog has 1.6-10w now, 2.5w is pretty common now, almost every body makes them. its just so many people use digital now thats made analog cost alot more now too which sux. But even my tiny 3inch toothpick has a 1.6w whoop vtx on it.... Though those are hard to find, I've been trying to find more like it for my 400mw whoops. Wish there was more selection of whoop vtxs! Even walksnail has 2.5w, 4k, onboard recording..... HDzero is just no where good enough yet! And seem to be getting further behind, imo
Great video mate. What camera did You used? It looks crisp AF.
Foxeer Falkor, I’ve had it laying around for a while
As you probably know, Foxeer T Rex is awesome. It is the best analog cam i have ever flown. I think is ever better then some older hdzero cams. Nice to try. BTW DVR on hdzero gogles does excellent job.
analog has a vibe (to me its not 80s like people (and this video) say)
Remember that one time?
I like analog because it's cheap light weight and easy to bind.
The only time analog looks decent is when you're close by and there's no obstacles. Digital looks better as soon as either of those aren't true...well it look better all the time but the difference is even greater. I flew analog for my first 8 years in FPV and digital for the next 3. Never going back.
been flyin 4 1/2+yrs, I fly v1 dji and vista after like 8 months analog.. I think analog dvr is better. I personally don't like the way HDZ does their break up.. I'd definitely go back to analog before HDZ, but that's just my opinion
I also still fly my whoops in analog
Use coral tpu module to ai upscale analog before showing in headset
One of your filing cabinets is missing a knob. Should really fix that.
No offense, but I really do have a problem with shitty onboard dvr. Compared to a lossless dvr you see a more realistic example of what analog looks like. Mine work fine
yes. end of the video
I fly analog only I think as long as you got a good camera not much difference
signal critical
damn, thats an important signal..
so what happend with the rx ? at the end?
What power are you running the analog vtx at?
if you turn on WDR or hdr on you analog camera your latency will be WAY better.
Eastland or Northland? I have had to do a doubletake on some analog setups. Where it looks good enough that I have to think about if it's digital or not.
Eastland, it’s empty basically
😎
in cincy? where?
I can definitely see “scraggle” and easier to fly around bushes and trees
You mean there's something better than analog? ;) You need low latency, high TVL cameras for that good analog experience.
How would analog have more latency? I love analog. ❤️ great vid as usual
HDZero has lower latency than Analog.
@@grimripperrr true, but have you seen by how much? pretty sure it's not perceptable by any human brain :)
@@grimripperrr That's dependent of the camera I think? Pretty sure analog actually has lower latency, by like a literal millisecond or two.
edit: HDzero 90 First pixel response is 2.9 vs 2 for Analog. Whole image time is 14 for HDzero vs 18 for Analog. That's with the 90 camera though, so if you fly that exclusively then it would be less latency, but definitely not something you could actually feel.
sorry if i missed it in the video, what vtx and antenna are you using on the analog quad?
What analog camera did you use?
Sorry to disagree, but the random stutters and black bars of analog was annoying to watch. I fly proximity only so the stuttering black bars of analog are just a few sparks on HDzero. I can't go back to analog, not even for my whoops.
Analog gang
