    thank you for this - i just repotted my money tree for the first time (my gf got it for me in February). I had one stem that was soft, but still growing little leaves, so I took out the electrical tape holding it together and put it in the old pot (that I washed with soap and water just in case it is in fact, root rot), and put the remaining plant into a new pot! I have gentle strings that are just acting as supports now instead of tight elastics cutting into the trunks. It is about 16" tall at the highest leaves, and 8" from bottom of the trunks to the top. I hope that with better soil (and a little less water on my end ((oops!)), that it will continue to flourish. I'm subscribing to keep growing my plant knowledge

    Question: my money Tree is growing but as I refreshed the dirt, I noticed 2 stalks are squishy and falling apart. Would it hurt the rest of the stalks if I removed the damaged ones?

    • @toriamousseau
      @toriamousseau Рік тому +6

      Saw your comment, and wanted to say that taking out the squishy stalks would be the best thing! They're rotting and wouldn't want the rest of the trunks to rot, the soil might be too heavy or might need to be left to dry for a bit longer than it has been. These trees seem to prefer being a bit root bound than in a biiig pot. They also seem to like to dry out about halfway. Should be able to shimy the bad trunks out as the roots have usually rotted off at that point. Wishing you the best of luck!

    • @AnnasViolets
      @AnnasViolets  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Paola, I would recommend repotting it only in spring, and in summer, if the weather is not very hot. In autumn it usually drops some leaves and the growth in slower, and in winter the growth almost stops.

    I think I’m experiencing root rot. The leaves were pale green and some fell off. I inspected the bottom stems and they were wet and a light brownish color. The roots looked brown I trimmed them back and repotted in new soil. Should I water right away or let it dry out first? Any suggestions??

    • @AnnasViolets
      @AnnasViolets  Рік тому +3

      Hi Christina. A big pot may cause root rot, and the leaves may fall off because of root rot. If it happens in winter, maybe everything is fine, as sometimes these trees lose some leaves in winter, but then grow new ones very fast in spring.
