I wish one day I could invite you to Iran and give you a tour of our country, that unlike what people of the world think has lots of green, and show you the beauty of it. With love, a fan from Caspian sea.
Unfortunately Caspian Sea does not count as a sea so Kazakhstan is the largest land locked country it should be Mongolia This is not meant to antagonize or make anyone upset
The reason one tree has a more developed root system is because there are three trees in one pot. One dominant tree will take over most of the resources, so it’s better not to plant three trees in a single pot.
Hi Summer Rayne, I use an air can to blow off soil from my more delicate leaf plants! Don't have to get them wet and it blows excess soil right off of the leaves! :)
I have plant pachira 16 years in clay pot midium pot healthy plant and is not big is like a bonsai but when pachira in soil land the pachira bigger 40 feet long I saw in my friend garden and she give me a seed I put in my clay pot now 16 years after is a live and healthy thanks Miss Summer for your educational info about plant.
Personally for all tthe trouble, I would have dumped out all the old soil, washed the pot and started out fresh with a good mixture including pumice for better airation.
My money tree grew these foot long roots through the bottom of a bottom watering pot. It was put in the pot like a month ago... It also has been throwing out new leaves like crazy. And it has a 7 leaf frond.
I just repotted 5 plants yesterday because the soil was rock hard. Was terrified because I damaged one root stuck to a ball of hard earth. This is so timely.
Am really glad showing thin video, It explains a lot to me I lost many plants because I ignored the roots and thought that watering is fine Thanks a lot
It's just so weird how much attention that tree gets in the West. In the Philippines, it's a trash plant that's super common. They usually come as gifts all twirled up together with a ribbon. They grow way too quickly in a tropical climate and it gets too lanky for people. Some plant it in the ground and it grows even faster, and people don't want to keep pruning (with machetes) so most just throw them away. I've seen some in the streets that broke their pots and rooted in cracks in the pavement.
I completely flood all of my plants in the sink/tub 😅 Which is a major chore; which is probably why I can’t exceed 200 😖 They’re mostly hoya, so at least I don’t have to do it too too often.
mine only has 3 leaves left. ive had it for years and it started dying when i moved. i took it out of the pot and soaked its roots in water i found there was a rubber band around them so i snipped it off and repotted it. lets see if it survives..
I watch your plant explanation in your video with interest. You are talking about uneven watering, where the plants develop unevenly. You replace part of the existing potting soil. Now you are using a closed pot, without a drainage hole in the bottom. I myself try to create a kind of semi-hydroponic culture in such pots in the closed plant pot. For example, by filling a (small) terracotta inner pot upside down on the bottom of the large pot, around it with hydro grain, something of a saucer or carrot cloth over the hydro grain so that the soil will not settle between the hydro grain. In this way I create a drainage and water buffer for the plant. This way I can water the plant more generously with larger ones in between. The excess water drains underground into the buffer. The roots can grow to the water along the sides. Roots in water usually go well, roots in continuously moist soil can suffocate and rot. The soil can now dry up until the next watering time. Sometimes I create a water fill point so that I can water the plants from below. The plant roots will then grow more naturally down to the water (buffer). I have not continued studying for this, nor am I very good at getting and keeping my plants in the best condition. It is often more careful neglect of my plants, with still reasonable results. In addition, I have made it a sport / hobby to propagate my plants through various usual or more experimental methods. Usually with varying results. Nowadays I frequently watch your videos about plant care, also many other videos from others. I sometimes get inspiration from it, I also find it relaxing and just fun to (be able to) share experiences about plants. I like to see it grow and bloom in and around the house. I often fill my windowsills with my cuttings and plants, even in the smallest corners, in the living room, bedroom, hobby room, shower and toilet, and outside under a shelter in the summer. I then dispose of many plants to other enthusiasts to create space. I only have a small number of plant species that are resistant to irregular care, are easy to propagate and recover after a lesser period. I wish you the best of luck with your inspiring plant videos. Regards, Marcel.
I don’t see the problem. I have a huge aquatica here. With two leaves. ... two leaves! So went and checked the braided plant only to find all except one of the barks were dead. So now I’ve one very weird looking plant with two leaves.
I save round plastic chritsmas cookie boxes and water absolutely all of my 40+ plants in them every time they are dry and let them sit in water for a good while until it feels heavy again. So take that, peat! You ain't messing with me!!!
I have a small money tree and it seems that one of my branches has become soft when I squeeze it, what does that indicate? Does that mean that branch is dying and I need to remove that branch and repot it?
hmm kinda Intresting. My Moneytree was arround 1 m when i got him back 4 years ago. This spring he starts with 2,5 m hight. He stands in my living room, east window (full hight window), growing like hell. the top of the plant alrady stoped on my room cailing. and he is big, bushy and dark green xD

I'm glad yours isn't well braided either. I have no idea how to rebraid mine after changing its soil and I basically just tied the upper parts together LOL. The videos on how to do it are useless to me.
When you get that dry-soil problem (water wont absorb and the root remains dry), the solution is to use water that is hot: it absorbs straight into the heart of the root.

I took mine outside today. Knocked the soil off AND...there was a rubber band around the roots! Total heartbreak. REALLY? Couldn't the grower use something biodegradable? I guess when buying ANY plant from Walmart take that plant apart the first week you have it. Poor plant!
Thanks for sharing this. Sad that they do this to these living things. All about money. It gives me more reason to repot now and check the roots. I have one dead trunk in the braid.
Good choice-money tree- because mine is recovering from pest damage from last year, getting new growth now but it is not near to impeccable yet. I will take a look at the roots again but doesn't it bother a plant to be uprooted? Thanks.
@@Piecesoftheshadow Wasn't fun. Used a solution of warm water, 3 or so drops of liquid dish detergent and some drops of baby oil. Shake while it is warm and use later. It was sad but I sprayed the heck out of the bugs and plant... and cut off a lot of affected leaves. It looked pretty bare but it was summer. I put it outside in indirect sunlight and it got new tiny leaves. I sprayed it again and removed more leaves which the bugs wrecked, as needed. I also washed the plant with the shower head in the tub. It's coming back now with a plant light inside, but slowly. There are lots of good videos about that. Mine had spider mites. Try more Summer Rayne videos 'Plant one on me' or Planting Mindfully, Miss Orchid Girl but there are so many which are good on pest control. I didn't want to use poisons because of my pets.
yeah its matter. idk english well but I try my best . there are more soil in big pots. when there is more soil they keeps more water. little plants drinks little water. keeping more water cause root damage rotting.
Thanks for another great video! I have a question though: What do you do when the dried out soil seems to be one solid block in which the root ball seems to be cemented? I got a plant from a store where this is the case, and I need to change the soil, but it does not seem possible without destroying the roots...
Hey Summer, Do you think you would have time to give us a updated house plant tour now that you are spending time in two places and how it has changed what you have in your apt compared what it use to be? Thanks love ya videos
i put three pachira cuttings in water. it's been two months, no roots at all, but since the first week, some kind of white crystal like scales have covered the part in water. no such thing on the mother plant that's in soil. anyone know what it is?

I thought the Ti plant was a money tree. How many money trees are there or am I mistaken? My Ti plant is hopeless and I paid a lot for it. The leaves are always turning brown, even when they grow in before opening. Some videos say not enough water, some say too much. I can't win. It gets lots of light and humidity. I water it well when dry. Help
I have a dead trunk (1 of 5 unbraided) in my 3 foot high plant. It is doing really well. Should I take it out or am I okay to leave it there? I am scared to damage the roots doing it and it will lose some of the character of the plant.
@@Jays81305girl Thanks for explaining. I also have one dead trunk. I have noticed that since this has occurred that the leaves are dropping and curling a bit. A will repot it and remove/unbraid that trunk then. Do you recommend anything else when unbraiding and repotting? Mine is about 4 foot tall. Cheers ☺️

Peat free alternatives would be a good item, no one should be using peat these days, as it’s extraction release methane & we need it sequestered.
