I live in San Diego. I’m looking to BUY. a small piece of property to put my tiny house on. From San Diego all the way up to Oceanside, California. It doesn’t have to be very big at all, but I want to own the property.

I really think it’s time to move tiny homes in the Bay Area into open areas as tiny villages. The cost of living here is horrible.

Thank you for pointing out some of these locations in California. I would love to find something affordable there. But in the meantime I'm here in Las Vegas and would love something like that here.
At the tiny house festival last year in del Mar I talked briefly with the owner of Boxbl And he mentioned they were considering buying an old mobile home park and converting it since it had all of the existing infrastructure already laid out. I don't know if that's ever going to be an option but could be.

We love the folks at Boxabl! Whatever it takes to bring affordability back to the housing market is crucial.

Jesus, California makes it extremely cost prohibitive to have a tiny home. DMV costs are off the charts here when compared to other states. Then you have Sacramento requiring the tiny to be in a backyard on foundation...so plumbed into that foundation (pouring foundation is thousands)...which mean the tiny house must be sold when/if the home is sold. San Jose isn't much better. This is not even considering the permitting process. Ask any developer, this is often the most time-consuming part of their process in California, and the source of their biggest delays in building.
I would love to see cost breakdowns here.
Then you have communities where parking RVs is now illegal between the hours of 2 AM to 6 AM. Yep, Berkeley did this right before the pandemic in early 2020. So much for Berkeley being progressive. They treat their homeless like criminals and/or vermin to be chased away, and that is not an exaggeration. It is horrifying what they do to these individuals, often without any warning. Throwing away their tents, clothing, prescription meds. Even the police are powerless to step in and stop it. When law enforcement asks if people can have time to collect a few belongings, they are told to "stand back". No exaggeration.
Then there is how the Greater LA basic handles their homeless, porting them all over the country down to skid row. They've been doing that since I first moved there in 1997. Horrible...
