I was that dumb kid who tried opening a store security tag with the wire cutters and ruined my new leatherman birthday present 20+ years ago. Bravo on making them replaceable. 🎉
I have one and really enjoy it. The sides of the pliers have female threaded holes where you can screw in cleaning rods or whatever and the MUT will act as a handle. One side of the pliers can be accessed while the MUT is closed. Very clever and innovative on Leathermans part.
Been carrying mine since January 2012, at work, at home, everywhere. The first thing that broke was the closing clip. Not a problem. Never fixed it. Then the wire cutter blades, that got replaced. Many times. Still works great. It's now a nice shade of "old grey".
@tacticalappalachian4259 ... I was lucky enough to carry an LMT Defenfer for about 10 years here in the UK, and the MUT was absolutely perfect for basic cleaning, clearing (most!) stoppages and fitting the Otis bits... Now I'm back to being a normal (unarmed) worker, I do miss using it for its intended purposes... Stay safe.
I EDC the Skeletool. Wingman was great before then but there were too many parts I never used on it...the Skeletool is just perfect. Pliers, screwdriver and knife. That's all I need. Maaaaaaybe the punch would've come in handy that one time I needed a rigid wire or something to push out an object through a tiny hole. The rest of the stuff is just way too gimmicky. Why on earth would you need a carbon scraper out in the field? Do it properly before/after...I mean not even on a 3gun/PCC international competition do they shoot enough to warrant the use of it there and then, just do it when you get home.
The tool is geared toward the AR rifle platform. Punch for quick disassembly bronze scraper for carbon buildup removal when cleaning and female threaded holes in plier sides for cleaning rod attachment.
I have an og patent pending and a newer one that is just a knife and a couple screw drivers, it’s got that back button so ya can flick it open like a switch, small blade but it’s in the shape of a dirk but only sharpened on one side, lol beats knife laws and is legal good defensive knife but they ain’t survival knives they emergency tool knives
I've had one of these for 15 years. Got it while I was in the Army. Everything still works. Has never failed. Can't recommend it enough.
What a testiment to how tough these tools truly are, thanks for sharing!

I’ve carried mine in the pocket for 14 years it is the only item I never leave home without
14 years! makes me all that much more confident in mine.. you don’t realize how much you use a multitool until you start carrying one.

There’s a lot more to it than it’s appearance gives off, certainly innovative like you said.
I own so many Leatherman’s. The MUT, the ARC, and the garage 005 are the three that I edc the most.
Very nice, I’m actually not familiar with the garage.. I will have to check it out!

That’s awesome brother, glad to see it’s getting put to the good use it deserves!

Different strokes for different folks for sure… just used the carbon scraper twice last week on a bore vac for a howitzer barrel.
