I disagree about it not being useful! I've been experimenting with different builds and I've gotten in some great matches with nearly maxed out super jump (I have the "hide super jump position" but everything else is fast super jump).
Sub Power Up makes jumping to Squid Beakons faster. Meaning if someon else has all Sub Power Up, and you have all Quick Super Jump, when you jump to their Beakon, you go zoomies
So yeah... having a "balance" is good when using gear abilities but the real reason you don't stack a bunch of pure's of the same ability is Nintendo intentionally nerfs it by giving you diminishing returns as you have more of the same ability applied. there is a whole bunch of information on this online but that is the gist of it. Would be really cool tho if the game just let you stack the same ability with the gains stacking how you'd expect them to

This gets more noticeable the more you stack an ability. The last three subs of Quick Super Jump in this build shaves less than a tenth of a second combined, and are basically useless. BUT... it is really funny. I have the same build and run it often. :)

Now that you mention it, I've never actually thought about mixing the two sets together. I'm 90% confident that putting them together would have an effect, but I don't know if at a certain point the jump speed would stop rising. I'll need to test it sometime if I run into someone with pure sub up!
I had a ton of quick super jump in splatoon 2. Unfortunately the gear I used is super expensive at grizzco and the shoes just don’t exist anymore. So I can’t have my snazzy comfy gear anymore. Kinda funny seeing all this easy to get gear being so exclusive now.
About booyahing when super jumping, I found out that happens because you press the down button _just_ before opening the map. If you quickly open the map first before the down button you don't booyah.

Another thing that helps is playing Salmon Run. After you get all of your main rewards for a shift, you get a bunch of random pieces of gear. You can exchange them for chunks, and I pretty much have an endless supply of them to make these stacked gear sets.
I apologize if somebody else did this type of challenge before me. I just had the idea to try this out since I did it in Splatoon 2 a long time ago, and QSJ is my favourite abilities. If I ever try some kind of specific challenge in the future because I saw someone else doing it, I'll 100% shout out whoever came up with it.

In all reality, qsj is actually the best ability in the game. You only need 1 sub of it and you can escape so many situations. Every weapon used it.
QSJ is so good that even in places you’re not allowed to use Sub Abilities, it’s worth running as a Main.
