Last week, Death Stranding finally received a new gameplay trailer, confirming its PS4 release date for November 8th, 2019. In this video, I take in in-depth look at the trailer, analyzing the scenes and connecting them to the previous trailers we've seen. I try my best to explain what I think is going on and that you'll be doing, both in terms of story and gameplay. I hope you'll enjoy the video!

Very detail analysis from so low info trailers. Good. We 're speculating but I know Kojima don't freeze the frame slow mo on a new character reveal for no reason. That EMILY is from or inspired from an old SERIAL about a women that had an accident and have been body part replaced with rebotics so she can hear like superman. so I imagine she can hear the monsters coming from away.
And if those shadows detect the breath of human then that is why babies are kept in bubbles. I imagine all babies are already dead. That explains big whales dying because they breath two so all of the mamifaire are subject to extinction. That is why babies can reveal the dead standing. They are pure hope of a future. I am shure there will be some breath taking long shot like the children of men movie. And Kojima in this game is far away from any snake stealth mission. Konami wouldn't approve such layers of imagination. I really support him and hope there will be a lot of deep beyond countries meanings in an after life Weard environment. Best director ever please let him finalize every scene hah !

Around 4:59 it’s actually the early 2000s. The uniform and gear is actually based off delta force in IRAQ around 2000 to 2004 IIRC.

The BT are 4th dimension creatures ...a 3D object cast a 2D shadow so a 4D object would cast a 3D shadow ...plus them being 4D creatures would account for the ability to move through time
The 4d object casting a 3d shadow is an awesome concept. And makes sense in the game too.
It's a stupid concept and makes no sense. A 2d object also casts a 2d shadow. It's just bollocks. Not only that, physicists presume the fourth dimension is time, not space.
I was already hyped for the game but now im even more hyped. This is the best try to explain the game I have seen so far.

I've been wondering if there is a biblical influence to the game. There's the apocalyptic theme, but also the fact that Cliff leads 4 skeletal warriors. It reminds me of the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse, with Cliff seemingly representing Satan.
There is Egyptan imagery with Higgs character, being the gold mask and the lion goop monster. But I think you could be onto something with biblical influence. There is "Hades" and the "Limbo," plus the original conception of the universe. Sam does say "first there was a bang, that all life came from," relating to Genesis "Let there be light, and the universe took shape." Then the second bang happens and Death Stranding occurs. Idk a lot of stuff to speculate with, I just can't wait lol

What is going on? I was just watching this channel a few hours ago (reviews on RDR2 and GOW), then I started watching videos from other channels about Death Stranding and now you upload this. You see, I don't believe in coincidences. I believe everything happens for a reason. Here in this case, I think Robin sensed that I started watching other channels for info on Death Stranding, so he uploaded his own Death Stranding video to lure me back to this channel. 😆

So probably the voidout seems to be connected to how the human gets eaten by the Beached Things. If a man is eaten while he’s still alive it will produce a void out and if he’s already dead by other causes it won’t...
This theory makes sense also because of the part in the other trailer, when Sam is speaking to the other man via audio: “if one of those things eats you, sure you’ll be back but it will trigger a voidout all over the place!” (or something like that)... How do you reach or get stuck in Hades then?

Did these creatures come BECAUSE humans discovered a cure, a solution to death or what is after it?
Did they alter like that the time as WE humans know it, so in the sense of AGING, and those creatures appeared as a collateral effect? A “divine” punishment? Could those creatures be God itself in this universe?
If God has any similarities with us, it’s probably not surprising that a hand is its signature shape. Hand of God.
Hands are the part of our body that started our cognitive evolution, and it’s the first part we look of ourselves, we know we are able to experiment the world by the sense of touch before any other, and when we think about connections with another person, we immediately think about touching her or his hand.
Whenever I see those shadows connected to strings, I immediately think about umbilical cords of course because of the baby. Hades in the Greek mythology is inhabited by the shadows of the dead, and some heroes of that mythology in various occasions are able to communicate with those shadows. Could Cliff be the God of Hades?
I've a feeling the BBs are from the Oil/Tar Limbo. The reason they're kept in those "Ensure lid is tight" containers is because they will begin to vanish back into Purgatory if given the chance, like Sam's BB from the first trailer.

The more we learn about Death Stranding, the more it seems like Metal Gear: Survive was Konami's attempt to steal Kojima's idea. Survival focus? Check. Strange dimensional rift/creature invasion? Check.
Makes Survive look even more insulting by comparison.

5:01 To be honest, Cliff and his squad's battle dress, gear, and weapons (most notably the helmet mounted NV goggles and M4 carbine) are indicative of a far more modern era than they are Vietnam. Possibly even being meant to indicate that they are from a near future time. What's more, regarding the soldiers making up the squad Cliff leads, each time we see them, their uniforms, gear, and weapons change in accordance with a certain era. First being WW2 in the 2016 trailer, WW1 when Cliff gets to his feet in the newest trailer (after seemingly skinny dipping in the oil), then finally into modern gear alongside Cliff (with those creepy glowing red eyes). My point being that I don't think they are the same 4 entities each time...
Great point! I hadn't thought about the change in uniform that Cliff has in each scene. Seem's likely we'll be seeing various strands of different eras.

Also, yea I agree about seeing different eras. One thing that makes me think there will be different, defined eras was actually shown way, way back in the trailer featuring Guillermo del Toro and Mads. As Guillermo is scurrying up to the side of the bridge, some military hardware is shown off, with everything coming directly from the WW2 era. For instance, from what I can tell (I may be misidentifying these, if so then someone please correct me) two P-51 Mustangs fly overhead. Moments later a corrupted (?) M4 Sherman tank leads a platoon of skeleton soldiers armed with M1 Garands and outfitted with other United States specific, WW2 era uniforms and hardware. Then, in the tunnel, Cliff's squad pops up. These guys are also in WW2 gear with most carrying M1 Garands as well. Dude on the far right has something different tho, possibly a M1 or M2 carbine (again, someone correct me). Judging from the Spades on their helmets, these guys might have been part of the 506th as well.
But, in this newest trailer, Sam is seen running through some WW1 style trenches and taking cover behind a corrupted WW1 era British Mk1 tank. Then, Cliff pops up again, this time fronting a WW1 era equipped squad. Finally Cliff has his cig with the red eye squad, all with modern equipment that matches his own.
It ain't much to go on but, each time soldiers are shown (Skelton soldiers at least), they all seem to conform to a single era. You don't see a WW1 guy next to a WW2 guy. So, I'm thinking that we'll be popping through the different eras in different locations. But, with the lack of concrete info presently, I could definitely be wrong about this. Lol...

I am fairly sure Mads stated during an interview some time ago that his character is in fact not a villain, he could still have contributed to the state of the world via an experiment gone wrong, but I don't think he is characteristically "evil".

I give you an A for effort and interesting theories but this is Hideo Kojima we are talking about here. Remember the ad campaign for MGS2? You never even saw Raiden until the game was out. I'm not going to set any expectations until the game is out.
Lmao how ya feelin about ol' kojima now. " hey, look at that amazon delivery guy, it's raining on him and he's old....hmmm I got a great idea for a game". Imho kojima is a pompous ass. And DS is maube a good movie but a snoozefest of a game.
I still think this game can fail easily. It is a risky game that tries to make a lot of new things. And there is A LOT of money on it. There are a lot of misteries here, and we d better hope they are worth to see and that we can understand what this is all about.

What if death stranding is the beginning of a series in which ludens is the protagonist, like some scifi Lovecraftian story and death stranding is like an origin story for ludens who is actually just Sam or Die-hardman who later become ludens.

That's what I like with Hideo Kojima games trailers. They show just enough for give us a chance to analyse all of that but without showing all the game and keep the mystery.

I just hope this will be less of an open world in which each transportation mission is a "quest" where you go back and forward through the same big map, but more of a linear progression game where each such mission progresses the story forward and has Sam explore different sceneries and towns/hubs each time.
It'd be disappointing for Kojima to pull another Phantom Pain and have the story progression missions locked behind a bunch of filler tedious and repetitive side quests. and even then, the story progression missions weren't that different from any other side mission and it was disappointing that they'd take place in locations you could have already explored since it was an open world.

i like the songs you've used in the video , as fellow person who as been researching about this game since dec 2017 , you've talked about some stuff i havent found yet , its interesting you mention the world of death stranding , the land almost like its the bottom of the ocean except the water has been removed , now i notice that the grass in the world is actually moving as if there's still water around , but its just not visible to us , even in the older trailers ! here's 1 example : 19:04 , hmm .also i know the gold is important in this game , cause fragile has this gold bracelet on her left hand , norman's dreamcatcher has gold in the middle , some weird stuff on the ground looks good , higg's mask , etc ....i heard somewhere that gold is actually cause by neutron stars colliding ? maybe that has something to do with this , but i know you get gold stuff for getting special or deluxe edition of the game not sure which one , so seeing as gold is important , why is kojima giving off gold items to people who purchases a special edition ? weird , i hope we can figure alot more cause i cant wait for this game!

Tbh up until watching this I was always curious yet lacked an overwhelming amount of excitement for DS, but after hearing your thoughts in this video I can say that I’m really hyped now. I believe that an event called death stranding occurs, this releases monsters called as BTs. Cliff devices a way to combat BTs by using the power of Hades to resurrect dead soldiers, and also the use of the baby. But, this frequent travel to the other realm corrupts his soldiers and also himself, converting many soldiers into BTs themselves. Also, the other four soldiers are cliff's previous death bodies that he is controlling. When you die, the babies become a new body for you to inhabit ( the dead bodies floating at the surface are probably Sam's previous bodies). You can see the broken cords connecting cliff to his four soldiers( same cords that are used to connect Sam and cliff to the babies). That's why babies are used, firstly to sense BTs and secondly to become a body to inhabit when you die
Mads being bound in hades is interesting.
Take note that he is often associated with the color red in these trailers.
The suits and wrist cuffs that seem to identify the health of the wearer turns red the more injured they are.
Mads is always seen with red lighting.
So perhaps he is quite literally on the brink of death, or is literally "undead" since he might be bound to hades.

I don't think the 5 figures in the sky are cliff and his skeleton soldiers. I think they are one of two things. I believe it's either they are some type of boss figures yet to be revealed, which is the least likely in my opinion.
The second and crazier yet more likely idea in my mind is that the five figures floating in the air are the characters you have encountered in game. They would be Madds character Cliff, Guillermo Del Toro's character (don't remember the name of his character in the game (DRN)), Troy Baker's character (DRN), the one guy that shoots the other guy as he is taken by the black goo which I think was in the second trailer (DRN), and either Lea Seadux's character (DRN) or Sam's (Norman Reeduses characters) mother/president. I think they are all dead and part of the death stranding at this point based on certain outcomes of certain events in the game. I think this scene is after everything has gone to shit.
In the shot there with the 5 BT figures Sam is naked. The other time we see him naked is on a beach holding a dead baby and crying. Now he is probably crying bc I the baby is dead but Sam is also having his reaction to the goo things in the area. There are probably multiple endings in this game and this is the worst outcome of the game where all your friends/acquaintance NPCs have been taken/killed and are in the death stranding.
I love and hate speculating about Death Stranding bc I am so pumped for this game. No matter what I am thinking will happen in this game I know Hideo Kojima (we shall rename him Dr. Hideo Kojima for being the game surgeon his is lol) will surpass all my expectations especially bc he wants to hit it big being his own studio's first game. I just cant wait for this game. I want to fake an illness and write them a letter and hope they let me play it early like what happened for those terminally ill borderlands 2 and 3 fans lol. (not really but you get my excitement... nearly uncontainable and I would never do that lol)
Cliff is the grandpa, Sam is the father, Fragile is the daughter, the guy with the golden mask is the son, the lady in the red dress is the mother. Feels like a story about fractured family.
Question has anyone found out what it says on the back of whatever Cliff is holding that you can see briefly from the babies POV? 3:34 on this vid
Excellent video. Thanks. FYI: The yellow dudes who attack Sam carry packages labelled "Ceramic" and "Resin". Likely that these are resources needed to make things or that different settlements need Sam to deliver these things to get reconnected.
How could you suggest combat could be a step back cuz the new engine? Trust if Kojima made it then it will be good. I think it will feel very similar to MGS5 controls.
After the E3 trailer I had came to the conclusion that Death Stranding had a current political underlying tone. America was destroyed, fragmented and divided. A civilization that the current president wanted to save but Sam Porter couldn't give two twinkies for. Sam Porter was tasked to reconnect with the "past" which shows somehow as spirits trapped in previous horrific deaths. These spirits cannot let go of their past and so are stuck in this purgatory. The theme of the game is about letting go and reconnecting. You must die so you can let go and then reconnect to life again. Life and Death. I think the game is about our current political environment. To fix America we need to find our roots again. We are the lost souls in purgatory.
And the old saying, you can't make an omelette without breaking an egg. Cliff likely believes that and set to destroy so it can be rebuilt.
My guess is that Mads Mikkelsen's character is a prior special forces soldier from the early 2000s judging by his gear, and is bound to the realm of Hades through a hatred for mankind, and can thus navigate it freely where for other characters it is a hostile environment. That or he's some sort of amalgamate, humanoid spirit of war. He's experienced the worst humanity has to offer, and would rather see it destroyed than have it continue. This at least makes sense to me if he is supposed to be an antagonist where the protagonists' goal is to bring humanity back from the brink. Maybe he caused the events in the game or is just leveraging them or is a byproduct of them. Maybe the extinction and supernatural events are allegories for all the damage humans have done, reflected back at us, and Cliff is the damage humans have inflicted on themselves.
Have you noticed the eyes of the ludens space figure has the same eyes as “the joy/ aka “the boss” from metal gear solid 3- and the same eyes as Sam Porter Bridges in death stranding? And the boss was the first one in space on a secret mission in the 60’s, that went wrong on the way back.
Mama "gives birth" to the BB's, duh! lol Probably something to do with bringing back souls of aborted babies from Purgatory, hence the ability to be a bridge between here and there. Well done on the video
7:15 I think the reason he wants to kill himself if to stop an explosion from happening. When the giant sucks his body in, it causes one. Maybe he wasn't worried about going to hades, maybe he was trying to save his friends/cargo from certain death.
Well imo shooting was stellar in previous Decima games Like Horizon zero down and Killzone shadow fall, but yeah both games don't have a good melee combat which it seems to be much better and diverse here

The golden necklace that Higgs wears when he kidnaps Amelie is the same one Amelie wears in one of the Death Stranding posters that shares notes with Low Roar’s “Give me an answer”
Yeah I also noticed this and was curious about the significance of the necklace.
Well *Gold* is a reoccuring theme in Death Stranding, and it possibly can either manipulate or communicate to BTs.
Higgs' Golden mask allows him to directly summon or communicate BTs/The dimension of Hades, and in the Japanese Trailer we can see golden hands sprout out of the ground like flowers.

It's amazing how deep your videos are and you can clearly see that you put much effort in them. Though the long durations of the videos can scare me of, it is worth watching them when I do find time to watch them! Keep it up!
i keep wondering why no one is talking about how the necklace worn by that woman is also worn by 2 other people. atleast i havent seen anyone talking about it yet. this is an amazing production though. i feel the bloodborne vibe here as well with the nightmare realms and all. im pretty hype now though i will beware of cosmos.
The guys attacking Sam aren't "From ceramic" they're called mules and they carry resources on their back. The one you reference here is carrying a pack containing ceramic plates

What if Mama is the pregnant woman on the photo it would explain why she is called Mama other than her connection to the other side. And even if the woman's face in the photo is blurred she appears to look very similar to her.

I would say that screen blinks unisono with babies eyes because they are players eyes, maybe quite literally. The baby is a literal connection so its view is players view or its player himself.
