I'm booked to sail next September (23) from Southampton to NY after spending two weeks in England. SO far away, but then I have SO much planning to do, it'll keep me busy. I originally booked an inside, but I just can't. I need a balcony. I'll be calling tomorrow to change it. I've sailed in insides on other ships/lines, and I know there isn't a lot to see on a crossing until the very end, but I also really enjoy the alone time just relaxing out there and the light in the room. I'm imagining room service breakfast on my couch, looking out the balcony, or if I'm super lucky, maybe even sitting out there. I am so excited for this entire trip, and thank you so much for the work you've put into sharing this vlog. The two of you are adorable! Carole, your "innit Pauley?" just makes me smile every time you say it!
Nice one, folks. We sailed on this Ocean Liner a few years ago- a December crossing from Southampton to New-York. We loved it. I rank the Queen E number one, Queen Mary 2 comes a close second and the Queen Victoria in third place. Victoria has the same layout as the Queen E, but it just seemed more majestic. On the downside, for whatever reason, both the Queen E and Victoria have fixed shower-heads and at six feet four, it forced me to bow while taking a shower… 😀 Take care. Michel and Judy.
We need to cruise on Queen Victoria would be good to see how it compares. Also the Queen Anne coming soon! We loved our time on QE feels more familiar as we have now had 14 nights on board. Loved QM2 once we stopped getting lost lol and are back in board in September so looking forward to that. Interesting about the shower, though being shorter no issues for us lol!
I'll be going on my very first cruise next summer (2024) for my daughter's wedding onboard the Queen Mary 2. We'll be cruising to Norway. I'm so excited, I can't wait. Your vlogs are so funny and informative.❤
Delighted you made it on board. Our very first cruise was on the QM2 around the Caribbean. At the time she was only 1 year old and we fell in love with her even though we too got lost on a number of occasions. I can’t explain why but we always found the longer voyages with Cunard quite different from the short taster ones and this view is held by our friends too. It’s been a number of years from when we last sailed on the only ocean liner at sea and it’s a tad disappointed that the dress code is slipping as that was part of what made the voyages with Cunard so appealing. When you get to sail on the Queen Victoria you will find the layout of the ship almost the same as the Queen Elizabeth. But what I am most looking forward to is your vlog on the maiden voyage the Cunard’s latest addition to their fleet. By the way Higgledy Piggledy are the opening words of a nursery rhyme.
We are back on QM2 for 7 nights in September but would love to do a longer Voyage one day too. We loved our 10 night cruise on QE. The Queen Anne Voyages are out in May so hoping to get on the maiden!
Another great video you two, looks like you had a great time! Nice to know it wasn’t just us that found the layout baffling, and we’ve learnt a valuable fact; higgledy piggledy is in the dictionary :)
I'm going in December and intend to keep in mind that odd numbered staterooms are starboard side and even ones are port. The blue zigzag on the carpet is on the outside of the ship, and the numbers run from lowest at the bow (fore) and highest at the stern (aft). As for the amenities, I'm memorizing where they are in relation to my cabins. I'll see how well I do when I get onboard. But yes, there's always cider.
Brilliant vlog/video, you have convinced my wife and I to take our first cruise. I haven't been on a ship since RMS WINDSOR CASTLE Cape Town to Southampton 1976. I think you have convinced us to have a go, Cunard Queen Victoria Canary Islands. Thank you for interesting and Informative set of videos. I think we have seen them all now we look forward to the rest of the series on QM2.
Just returned from our third Queen Elizabeth cruise post lockdown. Fantastic, have been converted to Grills though. Princess Grill is super. Didn't feel the need to go to Queen's Grill for the extra cost. Lovely to see QM2. Sailed around the world on her in 2016. (Stateroom 11007) Felt that we got to know her after 4 months on board. Lots to do and plenty of places to go for longer voyages compared to Elizabeth and Victoria. Managed the heavy seas well too. Looking forward to the next vlogs.
So lovely watching you on the QM2. We loved the food at lunch time in the Corinthia Lounge and the entertainment, Shakespeare one evening and a Celtic folk duo from Nova Scotia another, such variety. The Commodore Club is our favourite venue for pre-dinner cocktails. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Thanks Angela! Cunard do entertainment really well. Loved the Commodore Club on QM2 very classy space with great lighting. Even though the one on QE is bigger it was always so dark so much preferred this one!
Paul is such a hoot!! I love sav blanc too so I’m glad you always order one! We were on the QM2 in 2006 and 2008 so it’s been a while, looks like they need to sweep the decks a little!
I’m going backwards and watching ep 1 - will have to remember that hotel if I sail out of Southhampton again. I can’t ever find my cabin. I have to look at the map every time I get off the elevator. Glad Reception could give you your key!
LOVED your Vlog - I'm doing the same in Jan 24 but on Queen Victoria as a little treat to myself but then in Oct 2024 I'm booked on the Queen Mary 2 for a double Transatlantic crossing for my 60th. I cannot wait as I know it will be exquisite (both). THANKS x
Hi guy's fab vlog.. You always make my day watching you both.. Love people with a great sense of humour.. Right then!!Paulie and Carole, see on the next vlog.. Bye for now.. Xx 😊
Not been on Elizabeth…but thought it would be the same as Mary 2…interesting on your take on both ships…when we were on Mary ..hubby had to wear a jacket in most venues…chart room, golden lion , dining rooms in the evenings….try a Singapore Sling cocktail in any bar in the evening…they are lush…gin based but can’t reAlly taste it. Also don’t forget to do afternoon tea in the ‘queens room’ (I think)…it’s an experience….loving the vlogs guys x
We were due to be on QM2 last year but sadly Covid put pay to our week in New York and TA crossing on this beautiful ship. Hopefully in the future we will. So glad to see you sailing again. PS. Don’t ever stop calling Paul _Paulie_ I think it’s adorable, just like the both of you 😘😘
Paul and Carol would you please give the cost of your trips in your vlogs. It makes it easier to decide on future cruises having this information. It also helps to know if you are invited by the cruise line as this inevitable makes a difference to how to evaluate the review. It is always good to know if you are paying your own way or not. When other vloggers are on the same cruise it always looks as if you all may be on a freebie! Nothing wrong with being on a complimentary trip as long as you let your viewers know. I love your down to earth reviews keep up the good work but clarity in this area is important.
If we are invited on a trip by any company we will always put Ad on all our social posts and it will explain this in the description of the video related to these trips. Out of 53 cruises we have only been invited on 3 so far, Sail Croatia, Avalon River Cruise and our trip to Japan which series will be out next after our Queen Anne Vlogs have finished. However, regardless of being invited or not on any future trips, our vlogs wouldn't be any different they would always reflect the truth.
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel Many thanks for the swift reply. It is good to hear you are doing things right, not all do. @marielco No problem! Yes sadly lots of bloggers don't they just put #hosted or #invited hidden in the hashtags or in tiny print where they should have Ad on them.
Another wonderful embarkation day vlog. We can’t wait to do Cunard and are looking at maybe an Atlantic crossing in 2023. So Paul brings a tape measure on the ship - that’s commitment to getting the facts right! 😝 We can’t wait to see more.
The QM2 ball room floor is actually the largest ballroom floor at sea and the Queens room seating area is larger than that of the Queen Elizabeth. The fact you can look down on the ballrooms of the Elizabeth & Victoria from one level up and at standing position might give the impression they are larger.
Thanks! We have booked our first transatlantic New York to Southampton 18th August 2023. Not sure which way you wanted to do it but would be fun to meet! 😃
First time I’ve watched one of your vlogs. They are thoroughly entertaining and the QM2 is spectacular! Completely different from NCL, RCL etc. so elegant. Can’t wait to watch more of your vlogs! ~Inge 😺
Thanks for another superb video Paul and Carole - Queen Mary 2 really is a stunning ship! Totally agree on the layout and finding our way around, it definitely takes some getting used to. We had no idea that higgledy-piggledy was in the dictionary though 😁 Did you ever get to the bottom of where your cabin cards were when you arrived and/or how they magically turned up after you'd been down to the desk?
Thanks! We suspect as we had an email the day before they were busy sorting all the new keys out. They were on their way we must have just missed them!
I just rebooked my sailing on QM2 for 2023 (4th time lucky I hope!) to do a back to back Southampton - New York - Southampton. Was supposed to do it for my 40th in 2020, and we all know how that ended up! I did your videos the wrong way round, not sure why, but thoroughly enjoyed seeing you enjoying the QM2. She is a wonderful ship and having sailed on her 6 times, I can't wait to get back onboard. I have also booked deck 11, a little further forward, but I don't mind rough seas. Hope you do more Cunard to come and hopefully a Transatlantic crossing, they are amazing if you like being at sea! Thank you for sharing your experience 😃
Oh, when are you going? I just booked the Wine and Food festival in September of 23. Just one way though, planning about 12 days in the UK prior, then sailing back to the states and catching a plane in NY back to my home in WY.

Amazing vlog as ever guys. Cunard looks way too posh for me but you can't deny it's all so refined and pretty and has a lot of charm. And the food looked amazing! I'd definitely get lost I reckon though hehe
Excellent vlog just reminded us of what we’ve been missing! On QV in August scenic cruising to The Sound of Mull then back on our favourite QM2 in November hoping to see Northern Lights if not 12 days of exquisite luxury in Princess Grill and on the ship in general.

The whole experience gives us access to the Grills Lounge too anytime of day even a more civilised afternoon tea experience!! It’s a must do. We love being pampered but do not need a butter which is the added experience in Queens Grill! Marilyn & Andrew
Question for both of you: (I'm curious) ....are you two ALWAYS so pleasant, cheerful, and with an awesome outlook? Or do you have moments where you say, "We can't do a video right now - I'm in a bad mood".
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel I understand that. I've watched a few more of your videos (although I've no intention of taking up cruising) simply because I enjoy watching you two! Thanks Robert, that's great to hear, glad you enjoy our videos! Gary is great, we have met a few times and he was one of the inspirations for starting our channel!
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel I've done two voyages on QM2 (combined total of 19 nights). It does take a few days to get your bearings, because the ship is so large. My first trip was a 7 day Transatlantic, which was wonderful. I spent the first 3 or 4 days exploring the ship - it takes that long! There are wonderful displays of Cunard's history on decks 2 and 3 forward - I spent hours there. My second trip was a 12 day Caribbean sailing ex-New York. It made such a difference having already known my way around. Even on the day of embarkation, knowing exactly where the lifts were to my deck, and the numbering system for the cabins. I love Cunard. I had also booked two more voyages which were cancelled in the Covid shut-down. So I have cruise credits I can't wait to use!
@@johnphelanbrisbane It is a fabulous ship, we spent a lot of time reading about the history on the walls of deck 2 and 3. We are excited about being back on board in September and our first transatlantic next August!
Our cruise vlogs come out every Sunday and extra videos out on Thursdays. No not really all main venues are accessible, so many so never felt there wasn't enough! Think the Grill classes have their own dining and lounge areas.
I wish there was another ocean liner in service that did regular transatlantic crossings. QM2 is pretty much sold out for this summer for all her crossings and I was only able to get one way on her on my trip to Europe, forcing me to fly there....which I detest.
OK we are very keen to go transatlantic on Queen Mary 2. Question would you do 14nights or just go 7nights and fly one way. its time to face the great ATLANTIC ocean. I want to do 14nights going both ways, and "him indoorrs" wants to do 7nights one way as he might get bored. Your guidance will be much appreciated. Keep up the fab funny videos, we love what you two do.
Been across the pond three times two P&O one from America to England on The wonderful Independence of the seas loved it all three times - your husband will not be bored and I am really envious of your trip.
How do you get your COVID test the day before the trip. We arrived on a Celebrity Silhouette and will be leaving on the QM II in two weeks. Really enjoyed your vlogs.
We were tested at the port for our Cunard cruise before it all went postal. We have used the company that our cruise line recommended for our current TUI cruise it was Chronomics. What are Cunard now recommending for your cruise?
Thanks! There were vegetarian options on the menu didn't see Vegan. However if you speak to the Maitre'd then we would presume they would accommodate your needs.
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel I’m a bit confused with Covid testing before boarding. I need a negative test from the day before boarding but you said in your video that you did a test just before boarding ? Thank you for your help ;-)
It is changing all the time. The testing centre in Southampton is going and a lot of companies are now using home testing, so you will get directions from the company or travel agent you booked with.
@@tifan1980 hiya! My cruise is the week before yours and I have had it confirmed that we need certificate proof of a negative test the day before. I have went with Randox per Cunard recommendation, they deliver it to your house and then you take the test one day before embarkation, scan the result, upload it to their app and then you get a certificate within 3 hours 😊
Watching Pacific Explorer transit Sydney Harbour she entered the heads at 9.30 tugs with water cannon greeted her wonderful sight I cried Wil be on board in July.
Oh how wonderful I would of cried too! So good to see cruising has come back for you too. We have been looking at cruises to Sydney and some ships dock in White Bay, is that very central?
Paul and Carole White Bay is a berth located under the Harbour Bridge and only can accommodate midsize ship ships like p&o Azura Britannia are too tall to fit. Have a look at Princess they have good Australian itineraries also dock at OPT opposite the Opera House handy to the city. Sydney is very big but great transport.
Ok thanks, this was Azamara Quest so that makes sense! If it was docked under the bridge would you still be able to see the New Year's Fireworks from there?
The fireworks extend all of Sydney Harbour they have barges with fireworks positioned all along the harbour also on buildings it's a great sight all set to music at 9pm and the big show at midnight.
All food is included, but they provide menus so you can choose from a wide range of offerings. (There are no prices on the menus, of course.) For drinks, you either pay on credit (via your cruise card) or you can buy a daily drinks package, in which case it's all you can drink!!
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel It’s ok now. Titanic anniversary just passed, now we have historical empathy and sympathy that includes the Queen Mary role.
Two of the suites [deck 10, "Queen Mary" and "Queen Elizabeth" suites have key card access from the scenic elevators that run from deck 7 to 11. Grills guests have their reserved tables, use of a dedicated bar, an interior 'concierge lounge' and a small deck on deck 11 with hot tub. The rest of the pubic spaces are open to all passengers.

Lol! We are mostly up beat and have a positive outlook, but there are times when we do take a pause! 😃
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel I understand that. I've watched a few more of your videos (although I've no intention of taking up cruising) simply because I enjoy watching you two! You guys are awesome, IMO. Keep up doing these great videos! I like watching you guys, as well as a guy named Gary Bambridge, who also has a UA-cam channel! lol
Thanks Robert, that's great to hear, glad you enjoy our videos! Gary is great, we have met a few times and he was one of the inspirations for starting our channel!
Love you both. Paul was like” Am I up? “ in the last part of the video. Hilarious love it.
Thanks Michael! 😃
Really enjoyed that, QM2 looks stunning.
It is a beauty, we take you on a tour in episode 2 of the venues and it was full of surprises! Thanks so much for watching! 😍
Love the Carinthia lounge. But still can’t get my head/bearings around ship.
It is confusing! We sort of got it by day 4! 🤣 Back on in September so hopefully will suss it completely then! 😬
Another great vlog, when's the next one? You're both so refreshing. Are there many area's you can't go to if you're in a Britannia cabin?
Our cruise vlogs come out every Sunday and extra videos out on Thursdays. No not really all main venues are accessible, so many so never felt there wasn't enough! Think the Grill classes have their own dining and lounge areas.
A great introduction to QM and looking forward to your next vlog 👍
Thanks so much! 😀
Ooh How Fun! A Fantasy vacation come to life! Just Enjoy everything 🚢🚢🚢🚢🚢
Thank you! ☺️
We saw you on the Regal last year, and Valiant in March, didn't get chance to say hi, just think you will appear on our next cruise.
Oh really LOL! 😂😂 Well hopefully next time we can have a chat! 😁
I wish there was another ocean liner in service that did regular transatlantic crossings. QM2 is pretty much sold out for this summer for all her crossings and I was only able to get one way on her on my trip to Europe, forcing me to fly there....which I detest.
Yes that would be good! Other ships do transatlantic but all repositioning cruises. Agree cruising is for more civilised than flying! 😃
My cruise on QM2 in Aug is still on sale.. return TA.
I can't wait to see this 😍
😍
OK we are very keen to go transatlantic on Queen Mary 2. Question would you do 14nights or just go 7nights and fly one way. its time to face the great ATLANTIC ocean. I want to do 14nights going both ways, and "him indoorrs" wants to do 7nights one way as he might get bored. Your guidance will be much appreciated. Keep up the fab funny videos, we love what you two do.
We have chosen to fly out, spend 7 nights in New York then cruise home. Depends how much time you want to spend in New York!
This was very helpful. TY! We are planning our first sail in Aug and had so many questions you answered here. Are there options for vegans?
Thanks! There were vegetarian options on the menu didn't see Vegan. However if you speak to the Maitre'd then we would presume they would accommodate your needs.
Hi both,
Enjoyed your first day on QM2, another nice aft is on Aurora P&O, !
Looking forward to next video.😊
Thanks! We have just been looking at Aurora Nothern Lights as Pauls Dad can only go from Southampton and it is sadly crazy prices!
Oh that's a shame , lovely ship.
It is as we loved Oceana so know we would love Aurora!
Great video, loved it! We are due back on QM2 in July and cannot wait. Do you use a GoPro for all your videos on QM2?
Thanks so much! We do use a Go Pro Hero black 7. Looking to upgrade or change as finding it's not performing so well in low lighting
Thank you ! Great video. My turn on the 29th May. I can't wait !!!
Thanks for watching! Have a great cruise, very jealous we are not back on QM2 until September!
Thanks for the info Kelly!
Notice the high glass walls along outer deck, carnival had another man overboard again, last month a woman. those walls are needed on carnival
Sadly no walls will stop any one with intention. 😪
Always look forward to your videos. Thank you so much. 😊
Thanks so much for watching! 😍
Oh so if we were docked there on the ship sounds like a very good view?
Love higglety piggility lol 😆
I’m seriously considering this ship …. It’s beautiful 😍
It is higglety piggilty lol! We were so lost! It is an amazing ship!
Really enjoyed seeing your first night on the QM2.........so looking forrward to the next vlog x
Oh great to hear! 😍
Lovely vlog. Thank you
Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for another good vlog.x
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Which terminal does QM2 dock at?
It varies, we left Mayflower but returned to Ocean Terminal....
My cruise that I’m going on with QM2 on 22/05 is also leaving from Mayflower if that helps 😊
I don’t dance because of a bad leg. Would I feel awkward traveling solo? Can you ask for a sharing table for dinner?
Shouldn't do as lots of passengers do. Yes you can ask for a sharing table
Paul needs his pint first 😂 great vlog
Lol always! 😃
can you try the barge canal cruises in France
We did those many years ago, unfortunately before we were vlogging!
Aaw what date were u on we were on the 15th doing the transatlantic for 4 weeks luvly ship xx
We got off as you got on! We would of loved to stay on and done another 4 weeks too! 😍
I spent 17 nights on QM2 and still managed to get lost right up until the last day.🤣🤣🤣
Lol it is so confusing! 🤣🤣
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel Did you find deck 3 1/2 ???
Lol we think that was the art gallery, definitely a funny layout! 🤣
Another fantastic vlog, love your videos, insight and humour… looking forward to the next one 🤩
Thanks so much for watching Sarah! 😃
Is this cruise all inclusive? Seems like you are having to buy drinks and Food?
Food was all included. We paid for drinks 😃
All food is included, but they provide menus so you can choose from a wide range of offerings. (There are no prices on the menus, of course.) For drinks, you either pay on credit (via your cruise card) or you can buy a daily drinks package, in which case it's all you can drink!!
Right then
LOL cheers!
Where's the cabin tour?
Will be out on Thursday 😃
Queen Mary gets my Titanic Agent Orange acting up😮💨
Oh....is that good or bad
..
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel It’s ok now. Titanic anniversary just passed, now we have historical empathy and sympathy that includes the Queen Mary role.
Excellent vlog as always the ship looks lovely. It may be higgledy-piggledy but I have full faith in Pauly organisation Morgan to finger it out.
Thanks Kevin! Organisation is his middle name LOL! 🤣🤣🤣
there’s no key card access required for the other classes ?
Two of the suites [deck 10, "Queen Mary" and "Queen Elizabeth" suites have key card access from the scenic elevators that run from deck 7 to 11. Grills guests have their reserved tables, use of a dedicated bar, an interior 'concierge lounge' and a small deck on deck 11 with hot tub. The rest of the pubic spaces are open to all passengers.
fun x
Ot was a fun cruise! We are back on QM2 next week and can't wait!
You would never believe that ship was built in 2003!
No it is still a beauty!
On Cunard it is state room not a cabin
They do call them staterooms as it is the nautical name for a cabin. Reality is they are the same lol!
What are Y'all talking about? Is the ship hilly? That makes no sense.
Lol obviously not, you can't completely walk one end of a deck to the other!
Paulie. Yuk! Just call him Paul. It puts me off watching.
Just dont call PAULIE late for dinner!!!!!!!
I have been calling him Paulie for 27 years and am not going to stop now! 😂😂😂
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel totally agree.. Paulie is your pet name for Paul and shouldn't stop.. Xx
Thanks Pearly! 😍
Oi Louise! It’s not for you to tell another adult how to address her husband. You don’t like it, *don’t* watch!
I realise your name is rhyming slang now. Lunt by name…
