It was exactly 20 years ago today (12 Jan 2004) that me and my dad embarked at Southampton on the QM2 for her maiden voyage. I remember there being fabulous fire works at sail away and at each port we were treated like royalty - what an amazing experience. Dad is no longer with us and the QM2 has left me with such wonderful memories to look back on. Creating memories is what it is all about……thanks for the lovely vlogs. Niki x
Thanks for sharing. I’m glad you have that memory.
Oh wow that is such lovely memories! ❤
The sail away is great. Even better from the midtown terminal
@@scottmacmillan9707 I wish she still sailed from Manhattan. But the views from Pier 12 in Brooklyn are spectacular. So there's that.
Great video, looking forward to the next episode 😊
Cunard should build another Ocean Liner to replace the Queen Mary 2 in order to maintain future transatlantic crossings with a British flavour and tradition. I recommend the ship be named "Queen Freddie Mercury."
I’ll let you tell Cunard that🤣🤣
They should build 2.
She was on my Bucket List since I saw the first pictures of QM2!
In the meantime we have sailed several times on her, 5 or 6 Transatlantics and 2 caribbean sailings.
She is an absolute pleasure to travel with and in 2025 will be the next voyage, since we are "fully booked" with other ships for 2024.
Oh wow you are making us very jealous, we’ve been on her 4 times. It’s a fabulous ship.
I’ve been saving this series so I can binge watch as it’s also in my bucket list. It didn’t disappoint guys! Looks fantastic already. Happy 21st Birthday Paulie Morgan 🤣
Oh glad you enjoyed it! 😍
I sailed from Southampton to Brooklyn in mid December. We hit 2 major storms, 1 had 6m waves the other 9m waves. QM2 sailed through them with ease. Such an elegant, beautiful ship. I thoroughly enjoyed my crossing.
Oh wow! Yes she handles rough Seas well!
BRILLIANT sailaway video! Great work Paulie Morgan thank you!
Thanks Penelope, my talents are finally getting recognised 🤣🤣
You never disappoint bringing wonderful memories to us. My DH was born in Bristol to an RAF veteran and Canadian war bride. In 1951, at the age of 2, he emigrated to Canada with his Mum on the original Queen Mary to meet-up with his Dad in Saskatchewan. In October, 2004, I arranged a surprise 55th birthday cruise on QM2 for a 14-day Mediterranean cruise out of Southampton. Two weeks before our cruise, originally booking a verandah cabin, we were upgraded gratis to Queen's Grill. Suffice it to say, it was a cruise we will never forget. Truly memorable!
Oh wow bet that was amazing! 😍
In Nov 2016, 5140 was our cabin on our first-ever cruise. Nothing like breaking your cruise teeth on the Queen Mary 2!! We were just about to leave for a 2-month stay in Spain when an e-mail came with a good price. We decided to just abandon our return flight (it was in the days when flights were ridiculously low), and booked our return journey on her. Loved that sheltered cabin, we could sit outside, even during inclement weather, and enjoy being close to the water! Hubby still talks of that trip and would like to do it again, if we can coordinate it as a part of our other travels.
Oh brilliant, vaguely remember those days of cheap flights!, lol! 🤣 The sheltered balcony does work well. We loved being close to the water too!
Glad to see the daily program is still available, I love to mark off what we want to do the next day.
Yes we do too!
Thankyou so much for this. Loved my two trips on the QM2 in 2022 and 2023- I did the TA westbound to NYC for my 50th birthday in 2022 and last August sailed round the Norwegian Fjords on her. Bringing back wonderful memories of my happy place. I can’t wait to sail on her again- currently planning another trip hopefully this year or next year. We want to do the TA but Eastbound like you both have done. Sail🚢🛳
Your welcome! Hopefully you will get back on board!
I did Southampton - New York - Southampton in September, in a cabin a few doors down from where you stayed... Absolutely wonderful experience. 5th time for me on QM2 and don't tire of it in the slightest... Got off in Southampton after 2 weeks of relaxation and peace and quiet.
Oh really! Yes all those days at sea, very chilled when we arrived in Southampton too!
That sky for sailaway is stunning How sweet of Dan to send a cake. Looks delish. Do hope Paulie shared it eventually 😁Great video. Was sad to see this one end.
Thanks Claire! Great surprise from Dan, Paul did share a piece! Next episode coming soon! x
I did my bucket list crossing on her Dec 15th-22nd, and your video made me smile. I live in the US, but flew to the UK and crossed back. It was wonderful, vand I plan to do it again!
Oh glad it made you smile! We hope to do it again one day!
My goodness,❤ Thank you for showing us the spectacular views of my hometown. Really beautiful views and weather, must have been those beautiful September. Skies. 😂
It was the best sail away! Thanks for watching!
SO excited to see you back on Cunard cause that means that -I- get to see the QM2 again too and I LOVELOVELOVE that glorious ship and I love seeing you guys enjoy her! It's my absolute dream to sail on her on that crossing one day. Thanks for sharing this with us and happy birthday Paulie Morgan!!!! ❤
Thanks it was great to be back onboard! Hope you get to cruise on her one day. Thanks for the birthday wishes too!
There's something about the observation deck shots of the QM2 just matter-of-factly crossing the middle of the ocean that's so bold and powerful. I love seeing her in her element.
Yes love that too!
Thank you, Paul and Carole for a fabulous video. Thank you for your advice and tips. It's 5 yrs since we were on QM2. Nice to be updated. We are planning a voyage soon. The internet charge was a pain, probably still is.
Thanks so much for watching! Actually we found their Internet plans are better than they used to be - we have some information here paulandcarolelovetotravel.com/cunard-cruises-wifi-packages-how-much-do-they-cost/
Super vlog and showing some fantastic views of NYC! I noticed Horlicks was available at the drinks station ... perfect for a comforting night time drink.🚢
Thanks! Yes Horlicks takes us back to our childhood!
I did a transatlantic crossing 8 times; 3 times on a destroyer, 2 times on a frigate and 3 times in a submarine when I was in the Navy. Never had the privilege to have an enclosed balcony regrettably. LOL
Oh wow fair play!
Thank you for your service sir.
Love QM2! I have done two transatlantic crossings (UK>NYC) and it is the most magical experience. Would love to see the sail in/out in the daytime.
Hope Paul enjoyed his Birthday voyage.
It is! A perfect birthday cruise!
I just wanted you to know my wife and I love watching your adventures. We were planning a trip to Medjugorje by flight via Heathrow but after watching this, we are convinced to travel QM2 to Hamburg and return same. Thank you!
Oh thanks so much appreciate that! ☺️
I love watching you guys , I really enjoy listening to the way you interact with each other.
Thanks Thomas, that's great to hear!
Having spent a summer cruising out of New York to Bermuda, I too can agree that it was the most picturesque sail away I ever got to experience.
That's one of the itineraries I did when I worked for Celebrity as a nurse in the 90's. You never get tired of it! Which ship were you on?
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravelCelebrity Horizon & her sister ship Celebrity Zenith.
Snap, I was on Horizon too!
Yes such a great itinerary, Bermuda was so much fun!
Great first vlog and into to the transatlantic cruise, we are watching this series closely as you know one of us is keen to give it a try.
It’s a great way to get home from NY
Brings back happy memories of QM2 and our transatlantic crossings
Oh that's good to hear! 😃
Looks amazing. I wanted to do that route, but wasn't confident about sailing the Atlantic, so decided to "cheat" by doing the Marella fly cruise to New York last summer. Hope to try a Cunard cruise next year, and nice to see great buffet choice.
QM2 is the best ship to pick if you are worried about movement, such a sturdy bird!
❤❤if you are calling her a “bird”. You darn well better be thinking of a swan 😂
I was in the U S Navy on board ship for 3-1/2 years and sailed into and out of many ports but the one that I remember the most was going through the straights of Gibraltar at sunset with
Europe on one side and Africa on the other and the sunlight brilliant on the Rock. May of 1969
Oh great memories!
I loved this video! You guys are so much fun to watch. You certainly laugh together a lot. I would love to sail the QM2 but too fancy for me. I'd be relegated to our cabin I'm afraid. 🤣
Lol thanks so much! ☺️
Dang now gonna have to do round trip because the sail into NY is too early to appreciate all the cool views. Boy oh boy that 360 camera is bonkers❤❤
It is quite spectacular, sorry that we’ve cost you more cruise money 🤣🤣
Thank you so much for posting this great vlog, both myself and my husband think it is excellent. We are going on QM2 to do the transatlantic, and then visiting Canada on her before coming back to NYC and back again to Southampton! We have booked a similar cabin to yours, one of the sheltered ones, so it has been especially useful to see what you thought of it. We both look forward to the next instalment of your voyage!
Glad you enjoyed it! Oh that is a fabulous cruise, is it 28 nights?
Yes! it is 28 nights and we're so looking forward to it.
I started watching this channel when they started their Queen Mary 2 crossing. I subscribed when Paulie said. "Tottenham Hotspur are now officially the greatest team in the world." LOL.
Sadly this is no longer the case but I still love them unconditionally 😊
Would love to do this sail but getting home from Southampton wouldn’t be easy for me (age and increasing infirmity). I have sailed out of Sydney a couple of times but think I agree with Paul about the sail out of New York being better. What fabulous views. Very impressed by the buffet choices. I have done a cruise on the Queen Victoria in steerage class but would love to pend my pennies on Queens Grill. Looking forward to part 2.
Oh thank you! Yes that is a long flight, so understand that. Thanks for watching!
Thoroughly enjoyed your fab video. We are doing a return trip TA with a trip up to Canada included on QM2 this summer so will be doing two sail in and sail always into New York. I love the ship and love the sheltered cabins. What a lovely surprise to find birthday treats.
Oh wow Brigitte that all sounds amazing, can’t deny we are a little bit jealous 😊
Hard to believe that my husband suggested it. I almost had to drag him onto the ship last August when we went to Norway on QM2. He was determined he’d hate a cruise. Two cocktails in the Chart Room and he’d fallen in love with cruising. He’ll be suggesting a World cruise next!!
Thanks!
Dear Paul & Carole - many many thanks for your very helpful videos on the Queen Mary 2. I have recently returned from the Literature Festival at Sea from Southampton on QM2 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Your helpful and clear advice really helped me to make the most of the cruise. Thanks again. Sending you best wishes for your future travels.
Thank you! 😍
Oh that is so good to hear! Glad we have been helpful and thanks so much for the generous super thanks, very much appreciated! 😍
I love you guys. As a Kiwi I love your sense of humor, so refreshing.
Thanks so much! 😃
Sailing into Venice at sunrise has been the best for me
Venice sail ins/ sail aways are definitely very special, it won’t belong before they will be a thing of the past 😞
It's a real treat for us to watch your vlog...you are such a wonderful-couple and the camera/commentary is always entertaining...thx again to both of you ...we have now officially subscribed to your Chanel...
Oh thanks so much for your lovely comment and subscribing! 😀
How fun, I was born and raised in Brooklyn.😮 Now I live in Vegas. Come and see us, after the Super Bowl 😊 Happy travels!
Thanks! We were in Vegas last April, celebrating my sisters 60th birthday, we had a fabulous time!
Sydney is still my tops sail in/away port. Vancouver second. San Francisco, New York. And I worked on ships for a decade. But hey, whatever floats your ship.
So many great ports! Haven't done San Francisco yet, on the to do list!
Yeah, sailing out of NY is pretty iconic! 😊
It is! We loved it!
Thanks for the great videos guys! Hoping to someday meet you on a cruise.
You're welcome! Hopefully one day!
Interested to hear you view on the best sailaway, I have now done Sydney Australia, New York and Aukland along with many others and still think Sydney the best. Nice to see QM2, looking forward to the next programme.
Can understand why Sydney was fabulous! Need to tick Auckland off the list too!
Looks amazing and the weather looks fab too
Weather was great in New York, got a bit mixed through the cruise. We loved our 7 days at sea!
Contemplating our thoughts while watching the football is a tradition
That means swearing at the TV when things almost inevitably goes wrong 🤣🤣
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel Exactly
After doing the Norwegian Fjords on P& O last year we have booked a Mediterranean cruise on P &O again can't wait, this time for 13 nights
Excellent, do let us know how you get on!
Sailed Southampton to New York in July 2023 and it was absolutely fantastic. Looking at booking again soon.
Can understand why, such a great cruise!
I’m booked on Queen Victoria out of Southampton to Canary Islands in November this year. Been on quite a few in my life but never with Cunard. How’s the dress code and ambiance compare with other cruise lines eg Carnival, NCL etc?
We’ve done Carnival but not not NCL. Cunard is definitely different but in a good way. We’ve got a post on our website all about Cunard dress codes. If you fancy check in it out.
Great episode guys👍
Thanks so much Stryker Maguire! 😀
Loved your Vlog. The Queen Mary II Transatlantic Cruise is a highlight for me. Your Vlog brought back many memories. Loved the Planetarium ! When was your cruise ? Though I am from Pennsylvania I used to live in Milton Keynes.
Goid to hear we bought back great memories. We cruised in August 2023 😃
Very informative and helpful video 😊
Thanks!
Picking favorite sail away is much like picking favorite cruise, I couldn't pick.
Lol it is hard!
A belated Happy 21st Birthday, Paul! 🤘🥳
Thank you! ☺️
Right then! What a lovely ship❤
It is a fabulous ship! 😃
Fantastic watch love the birthday cake
Cheers Shaun, the cake was delicious 😋
Silly question about that time change, does the clocks follow UK time or US time? The reason why I'm curious is we're sailing to the UK from NYC too but the Sunday morning of ours the UK goes clocks back while the US does it after we're already in the UK the following weekend.
It starts in US time then as you sail through the time zones it changes. When you arrive in the UK you are on UK time.
Right then! Yes it is on my bucket list❤
Has to be done!
Oh gosh. This has us thinking of doing this!!
We are sure once you’ve seen the whole series you will be able to make an informed choice. 😉
Hi Paul and Carole. Me and my husband are due to sail on the Queen Elizabeth ex Sydney for a 13 night cruise on January 22 2025. We have watched a number of your vids on Cunard and we were wondering which Cunard ship you found to be the best. Kind regards Ann
My favourite is Queen Elizabeth because I love the garden lounge area, though QV is fabulous, so is QM2! Would happily cruise on them all again!
@ thanks!😊
I am really interested in this trip of yours. Cunard sounds great🎉
Thanks, Cunard are a great cruise line!
How different the cloud formation is over manhattan from the Look Out.
Brilliant video guys, looking forward to the rest of the cruise 😊 xx
Thank you!
I would love to do an Atlantic sailing. What date did you go? In your opinion, when are the waters the calmest?
August, it was great Seas!
Thank you Paul and Carole throughly enjoyed your vlog as always. 😊😊
Thanks Yvonne! 😃
I love your shows. Did you find the room abit dated? And the balcony looked like it could have a face lift? Is the ship looking abit tired?
Thanks so much! The ship has recently been into dry dock and had a lot of paint work done. The cabins do look dated but functional and the beds are so comfortable!
Hi Carole & Paul,
Very interested in your transatlantic cruise ,all looks good so far ,😊
Thanks, yes fabulous so far!
You could go right to your cabinet? Or did you board late?
We boarded about 1pm and the cabins were ready 😃
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel Nice
Enjoy your videos but don’t think I would spend the extra to have a balcony cabin on a transatlantic crossing because you don’t see a lot if anything at all. Keep the good work up though 🍻👍
Understand that. We would happily do outside or inside next time!
Just finished watching another vlog on the TA are there two QM2😂 your experience seems so different
LOL everyone take is different!
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel
True but by and large your reviews have been consistent regarding the service and food except for the maiden And if you had not been so surprised by the weakness, it would not have bothered you so much
Thanks Brigid!
😁😁😁 Enjoy! Bon voyage 🙋
Thank you!
Subscribed! You two are more fun than a barrel of monkeys! We're booked on QM2 in August/Sept 30 nights British Isles from New York. We've read some negative reviews (even since the Oct refit) but your videos assure us that we have nothing to worry about. Have you sailed Celebrity? We're considering Beyond in April. I'll check your other videos. Thank you for sharing 🛳
Lol thanks! 😆 Glad you have found them helpful! We have been on Celebrity Beyond you canfind our videos here ua-cam.com/play/PL_6zC3nwhe71Xy8fjTbh8RiuNuH6Lz2hZ.html&si=d_jaZktwYxq4Nfm-
I love watching your cruises. It's my dream to win the lottery so I can go on a cruise x. Happy belated birthday xx
Thanks Janice, we’ve got our fingers crossed for you 🤞🤞
Darn tooting it should be, yes you can there faster by plane, but where's the fun in that.👋💕🇦🇺
And the added bonus of no jet lag 😊😊
Hello Paul and Carole Good Morning lovely sailaway from New York i will have to be content with a sail up Sydney Harbour on Queen Elizabeth on the 22nd for 10 days up to Queensland cant wait.
A Sydney sail in is very special too! Have a great cruise 😊
The transatlantic Adventure on Cunard's Queen Mary is indeed on our bucket list but we are so afraid of contacting Covid-19. Aren't you both concerned about this world wide deadly disease? Thank you for your video's.
We were concerned but there comes a time where you have to decide what you won’t to to do with the rest of your life, we chose to cruise
Hi loved this video ❤ are the prices for drinks in $ USA or pounds?
Can not wait for part 2 😊🥂
Thanks so much! All drinks are in dollars. You can check all the prices here paulandcarolelovetotravel.com/cunard-drinks-prices-and-packages/
you left out allllllllllllllllll right then lol . great video as usual 😍
Right Then! Sorry about that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel LOL love it
We were on QM2 last year. A great ocean liner but not user friendly as a cruise ship. Rooms and bathrooms very dated. Recent dry dock has not improved them at all. Cunard need to spend some monies.
The cabins are dated for sure!
At the top of my bucket list
Good fellow diving straight into the cake
Lol! 🤣
Fuhgeddaboudit goes way further back than the Sopranos!!
Lol bet it does! 🤣
Hi there, just wondering if they acknowledge the Titanic at all?
You will have to wait and see LOL! 🤣
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel lol ok we're going to the UK this year and doing a transatlantic crossing in November 2024.
@@andrewdishington5941 Oh fabulous, you are in for a treat!
Bathroom? Amenities? I wish I could go on that trip.

$75 a day for a 6 day cruise i would of said 7 but i realized you only had 6 days of the cruise left it works out $450 absolutely ridiculous prices! don't blame you for choosing the pay as you go option.
It is expensive!
@@PaulandCaroleLovetoTravel I know lol
Is there no longer a Queen Elizabeth, or the queen Anne??
Yes Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary, and Queen Victoria, Queen Anne launches in may.
Since your room key/internet issue was resolved so quickly, would you describe Cunard as "moreamazing"? 😊
Most definitely, they are top notch for customer service 😊😊
Great video . Very nice cake, and the cream on top was the two bottles of thatchers. You are very spoiled, paul, lol.
Life doesn’t get better than birthday cake and thatchers gold 😊😊
It's hard to believe that Glasgow and Clydebank used to be the center of the world's shipbuilding builiding ships like the QEII while many countries in Europe supported the transformation of their shipbuilding yards like France, and Finland and Germany the UK government of the late 70s and early 80s decided that they should go to the wall to be replaced by shopping centers. Sad facts. A bucket list cruise shiip you've done twice 😂
That is sad facts! Lol the transatlantic cruising home from New York part is the bucket list as never done that before, actually we have cruised on QM2 three times! 🤣
$65 for the uber jesus that's obscene.
We didn't think it was to bad for a nearly a 30 minute ride!
