I know the Cowboys literally got an entire draft for a Running back, but he was a damn good running back, and lots of teams just didn't value draft picks at all back then, which is why the Ricky Williams trade happened. I know all of these things happened, and the Hopkins trade was worse. The Hopkins trade was worse because even if David Johnson completely balls out, and Hopkins somehow falls off, the Cardinals literally only lost a 2nd round pick, it is actually impossible for them to lose the trade
"The Smartest Guys in the Room" is the name of the documentary about Enron, the same infamous oil company that once had its name on the stadium where now disgraced MLB team plays.
Don’t forget about walkers years in the USFL he was by far the best player in the USFL rushing for 5,562 yards in the 3 years that the league lasted he also has the most rushing yards by a running back in a season with his last season to that resulted in 2,411 yards. He still had 13,787 rushing yards in his career playing pro football for both USFL and NFL. People forget them stats he had in the USFL or never even knew about them because they don’t know about the league but still the man was a beast and is the greatest college running back of all time.
Hey, in regards to the Hopkins trade, maybe there's something we don't know about. Everyone thought the steelers got absolutely fleeced for AB with only a 3rd round pick but then he never even played a down for the raiders
How about HoFer and greatest WR of his generation, Steve Largent, being traded by the Oilers to the Seahawks for an 8th round draft pick. The man retired holding the NFL records for catches, yards, touchdowns, and many more.
Jerry Jones was NOT the GM back in 1990 and had NOTHING to do with the Herschel Walker trade. That was 100% Jimmy Johnson. It was also that trade which eventually caused Jones to get jealous of Johnson, as Johnson was cited for the team's success. Due to this deflating Jerry's ego, he had to let Jimmy go. Notice how the team had one more SB season under Switzer with a roster entirely built by Johnson... and then quickly fell apart and has yet to get close since.

Interesting note on the 49ers moving up to draft Rice. The Patriots were looking in need of OLine help more than anything else, but since most of the top OLs in the draft had been taken (5 in the first 12 picks), they believed they could trade their #16 pick and still get their target late in the 1st round... which they did. They already had pro bowlers in Irving Fryar and Stanley Morgan at WR, and were not even considering Rice. So, listing them here is a bit unfair. However, the 49ers got word that the Cowboys were planning on drafting Rice at #17 and made the moves to steal him away... knowing that an offense featuring pro bowlers RB Tony Dorsett, WR Tony Hill, TE Doug Cosbie would only become more dangerous with Rice as the #2 WR. They wound up 11th best in the league that year as is, but might have been top 5 with Rice. Coupled with a potential top 10 defense. Plus, a look into the future could have seen the Cowboys with Herschel Walker at RB, Rice and Michael Irvin at WR in 1988... with Aikman coming in 1989. Keep that core together until the OLine is built (they already had Tuinei, Newton, and Gogan -who would become an all pro with the Raiders-). Where the Cowboys messed up was drafting DT Kevin Brooks, rather than Andre Reed (who would go on to have a HoF career in Buffalo after getting drafted in the 4th round).
I'll raise you an ancient but disastrous trade: the 1958 trade of HOF QB Bobby Layne from the Lions to the Steelers. First of all, you KNOW the trade is bad when Wikipedia doesn't even list what a HOF is traded for. Secondly, this was in a season when the Lions were coming off a CHAMPIONSHIP! Yeah, the Lions have won those before, just, in the pre-Superbowl era. Finally, the Lions franchise has NEVER recovered from this trade, having won playoff game and 0 chips since. Also as a Browns fan (go ahead, laugh), What about the trade where we sent the pick that was Julio Jones for a package of picks, that never really became anything? Because seriously, that one stings to this day.
Ricky Williams is the most lopsided trade in NFL history considering the value of all the picks exchanged. And to only move up 7 spots at that. But the craziest part is Williams was probably by far the best player involved in that trade directly despite the staggering number of picks going back to Washington. Lavarr Arrington could've been a great player they netted from it, but injuries shortened his career. The rest of the picks; straight garbage. Of course WAS did package picks and move up to take Champ Bailey, but the team was uncompetitive during that stretch and shipped him out for a running back too a few years later. The Saints would also later trade Williams to Miami for a 1st round pick that became Charles Grant. Grant was a key defensive player for the Saints in the 2000s and helped them win the SB in 2009. They lost the deal, but still came out smelling better than both the Skins and the Dolphins.
Don't forget that BOB probably also pissed off his franchise, Pro-Bowl QB - aka one of the only players who was in the conversation with Hopkins for "Best Player on the Team" (maybe JJ Watt if he didn't keep getting injured), also also known as.... Hopkins' college teammate and friend. Great move, O'Brien. I get happier and happier he ditched PSU for that job.
As a Titans fan, I'm glad that the Texans just gave us the AFC South. But as we saw in January, we don't need to be at home to ruin people's legacy. Then again, the Texans do that to themselves more than out team does, so there is an argument there.
For the cardinals it kinda makes sense. Larry Fitzgerald is getting old so they need a new wide receiver to replace him once he retires. The cardinals also have a young running back for the future so tradeing David Johnson to the Texans for DeAndre Hopkins kinda helps both teams
Can you talk about the Clowney trade just last season too. I am a huge Texans fan but have been calling for O’Brian to get fired ever since the first year of our QB drama. We kept drafting WR’s when we clearly needed O line guys, and we were signing all these shot QB’s while good ol Bill would say “he’s my guy” about every one of them. Now instead of just firing O’Brian I think I will start lobbying for a new owner who will get a proper GM and get things back in line. I mean really, what did bill catch Bob doing where bob can’t fire bill?
No, the worst trade was the Paul Warfield trade. Miami and their new coach Don Shula needed a great Wide Receiver to sell the play action passes plays that Czonka, Morris, and Kiick were a part of. So in 1970 they gave the Browns the 3rd overall pick for their All-Pro WR who was a key part of 3 NFL championship teams. The Browns would use that pick on Mike Phipps. Warfield would become a cornerstone of the Dolphins of the 70s. Mike Phipps became as big a draft bust as JaMarcus Russell. Except Russell made a bad team worse for a little while. The Browns have not been the same since Warfield left.
In fairness, the Patriots in 1985 did not have a very solid team, so even with Jerry Rice on their team, it would not have made a difference. We are talking a team that is 8 years away from drafting Drew Bledsoe, 14 years from drafting Tom Brady, and 15 years from hiring Bill Belichick. Who's going to throw him the ball while he waits for any of those men to come to New England?
I feel bad for David Johnson. I went to High School with him, great guy, and now he's always going to be the guy that got traded for DeAndre Hopkins lmao

The Packers once sent 2 first rounders, 2 second rounders, and a third rounder to the Rams for John Hadl
When he was 34 years old
You forgot to mention Farve won a super bowl lol
Sad browns fan noises
Laughing from Bungles fans who have one team to look down at.
love the outkast reference lol
Bruh how you gonna just throw in that dog barking when you were talking about Vick 😂😂
For the cardinals it kinda makes sense. Larry Fitzgerald is getting old so they need a new wide receiver to replace him once he retires. The cardinals also have a young running back for the future so tradeing David Johnson to the Texans for DeAndre Hopkins kinda helps both teams
Love this!
That Favre interception for the Falcons wasn’t even his fault lol
Can you talk about the Clowney trade just last season too. I am a huge Texans fan but have been calling for O’Brian to get fired ever since the first year of our QB drama. We kept drafting WR’s when we clearly needed O line guys, and we were signing all these shot QB’s while good ol Bill would say “he’s my guy” about every one of them. Now instead of just firing O’Brian I think I will start lobbying for a new owner who will get a proper GM and get things back in line. I mean really, what did bill catch Bob doing where bob can’t fire bill?
Since everything else is cancelled, I might as well watch the Manscaped 690
Can you do a video ranking the best and worst college football traditions
The even sadder part about the Ditka trade was that Washington got all those draft picks and did nothing with them
Dude I’m so glad the hawks signed Bruce Irvin! I know it has nothing to do with this, but still!
The Family for Toilet Paper trade is starting to make a lot more sense in today's world.
Nobody including the Falcons could've predicted what Brett Farve was gonna be
The Rice and Favre trades made sence at the time.
Chiefs trade two 1sts and a 3rd to move up for MVPat. Horrible trade, if you are a Bills fan.
McCoy for Alonso was a gem as a bills fan. Those teams started all of this.
Watson is trying to get out of Houston
In fairness, the Patriots in 1985 did not have a very solid team, so even with Jerry Rice on their team, it would not have made a difference. We are talking a team that is 8 years away from drafting Drew Bledsoe, 14 years from drafting Tom Brady, and 15 years from hiring Bill Belichick. Who's going to throw him the ball while he waits for any of those men to come to New England?
I feel bad for David Johnson. I went to High School with him, great guy, and now he's always going to be the guy that got traded for DeAndre Hopkins lmao
