Sure… Most trades in the NFL end up being somewhat equitable… But the trade machine in the NFL is a fickle beast-and there have been more than a few instances in which it has giveth-and subsequently taketh in a MAJOR way.
With the offseason in full swing, we have decided to take a look back to the turn of the millennium and peg the 10 WORST trades that NFL teams have made.

@@nicktaylor2657yes, only because Seattle has arguably the most explosive offense. Dk MetCalf, Tyler Lockett and JSN at wr, Noah fant at te, with Kenneth Walker at rb with a young offensive line. As long as the young offensive line is average, geno has so many targets to boost his stats

I would also say that the Trey Lance trade was a very bad trade as he is probably gonna be traded for a 2nd while the 49ers gave 3 first round picks.

@@DemeilJacobs Yeah but still was alot and nobody knows how Trey Lance will play. The fact that Brock Purdy is probably going to be the starter over a guy who was drafted number 3. They had the Antonio Brown pick on here and they only traded a 2nd and a 4th.

You're off by a year on the Bears. Nagy was in KC when the Bears drafted Trubisky. Nagy came in the 2018 season, the year after.

I think bringing up the Wilson trade is way too early, it’s literally only been one year and he has a better situation with a massive upgrade of a head coach in Sean Payton. Also, as a Patriots fan really looking back on that Randy Moss trade, they got quite the steal and then some. Too bad they couldn’t win a Super Bowl with Moss though
Not to mention the injuries. denver was one of the teams with a ridiculous amount of players on IR and russ was also tied for leading the league in getting sacked he couldn't get the ball off to save his life without getting put on the turf the team has since went out and signed two line men to fill out the o line and defense was like top 5 I believe almost all year till the last couple weeks of being torn down from constant three and outs by offense its a completely flipped leadership in coaching and if it's more of the same its just showing denver isn't the place to be at the moment for football but go broncos.
@@daystarfighter I’m also one to think of the fact that maybe Denver may not be the right fit for Wilson, especially if things don’t improve much. No matter how good somebody is, fit is something that still matters and doesn’t always get talked about as often as it should in many situations.
@lakerskid2013 well with sean payton now and good run game being installed and more variety to the play book if there was a coach to mold to russ type of game I think sean is a great fit so we'll certainly see but yeah Hackett was in over his head hoping for good things to come its been a drag since SB 50
@@daystarfighter Denver at least has a better future than New England does. I would say at this point half of the league’s teams have better futures than the Patriots especially if they can’t get their QB situation figured out. Mac Jones is definitely at a make or break year but at least they have Bailey Zappe that’s shown flashes
Honestly when the Russell Wilson trade happened I did not think the broncos were a Super Bowl contender, but at the same time I didn’t think they would be that bad, but at the same time we all thought Seattle was gonna be this bad team when it turns out they win the trade by a landslide, even though it is still new Wilson does have time to not make the trade look as bad as it did the first year.

You can't say the Broncos lost the deal after one season. Until the players involved retire , you still have to let it play out no matter how lopsided it seems in JUST one year.

@@BamBamSam12 The Broncos haven't had a good QB since Manning retired. There's a difference between an upgrade at the position and thinking you've won/lost the trade.
still, russell basically ruined their season. big salary cap hit and the hawks got a lot of young talent. russ needs to be 2x mvp caliber to make it up
@Bob Jeff That's fair, but I still think the head coaching switch is going to make a world of difference. The team would constantly be behind the 8 ball when it came to plays being called , time management was brutal, etc. Payton is experienced to where none of the small mistakes would hurt the team. I think they said the Broncos were a bottom 5 team when it came to snapping the ball with less than 3 seconds. (Mostly due to botched play calling by the coaching staff). I don't think he'll be as bad as he was last year.
That RGIII trade could have ended totally differently if Washington didn't ruin RGIII!

I know this is just a technical thing, but Matt Nagy wasn't with the Bears when they made the Trubisky deal. He was actually with the Chiefs that year and was all in on them taking Mahomes (he actually slipped Mahomes some inside info to help him ace his KC interview). It doesn't excuse his failures as a head coach but that particular decision wasn't on him.
Please do my idea: 5 teams that year that were Super Bowl favorites but didn’t make it and 5 teams that weren’t Super Bowl favorites but ended up making it such as 2023 bills and 2023 eagles!

We can’t forget about the Cowboys trading their 2000 and 2001 1st draft picks for Joey Galloway.
And him immediately tearing his ACL, sucking for the rest of his Cowboys career, and then playing good again for Tampa Bay.
The real issue was shanahan put him out in that playoff game with a torn acl and he injured it way further and essentially ended his career. Had they not played him then he would have been fine
He did more damage to the surrounding areas, but once the acl has torn apart or ruptured, it can’t be made worse. It’s gone. The fact that it was his third acl reconstruction to the same knee is why he never regained his form.

Also I would add about the RG3 trade that for all the picks WASH gave up to the LA Rams they never made the post season while Jeff Fisher was there. At least WASH went to the postseason once. Fisher wasted the picks and talent he drafted.

A good honorable mentioned would be the Jets fleecing the Seahawks with the Jamal Adams trade

Some of these trades were so obviously one sided even at the time. De Hop for one Arizona should of had to throw in a 2runder just to clear up the cap for a RB that was passed his prime!!!!! Texans were ready to start making their way up the NFL latter it's a shame I'll never understand Bill O'Brian's thought process
I don't understand how some of these trades went down when it was so obviously a bad move. They paid these GMs and everyone else millions of dollars so this doesn't happen and I can't get 40k a year job!!!!!! I can't be the only one em I!!!
Champ Bailey wouldn't have made much more difference in Washington than Portis did.
The majority of the team around either guy would have still sucked. Was Bailey better? yes. But not that much better that it's one of the worst trades.
