Song: “On The Trail” By Tigerblood Jewel
Our VRF Grab Bags (GB) videos are compiled from content from our cameras as Mods and fans spot something neat while watching our cameras. In the GB you will, of course, find a variety of TRAIN content, special trains, maintenance, steam, diesels, interesting rail cars, cool paint schemes and more. You will also find fun people, city events, boats, planes, cars (sometimes going wild) and nature. Thank you for taking the time to sit back and enjoy these highlight reels that we call "Grab Bags"!
The car at 4:30 hit the leading edge of the curb. Those sparks were due to the curb ripping something up under the car like the oil pan, or maybe the suspension.
Thanks--I wondered if maybe the muffler fell off (been there, done that--not fun!) but your explanation makes more sense.
As a still-learning newbie, I had to look up "picking the switch" to find out what had happened--it was bad news, but I'm glad that the train got stopped without further damage. Godzilla was amazing, the bolide in Arvada was beautiful, and that was a totally rockin' ending--thanks for another great one!
That person in Austell was lucky.
Good to see the Steam Railway at Paradise are switching Freight cars on the Interchange for their Freight Customers (01:30)
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in multiple locations, especially the Heritage Units, CSX military train in Cumberland, Maryland, and so much more, @Virtual Railfan, thank you very much and have a wonderful weekend.
10:45 They just panicked and literally forgot how to drive. That is scary.
With only seconds to spare they were so busy wanting to save their car that a few moments and they would have lost their life. They didn't even THINK to get out of the car and save themself. This time they were very lucky. And next time?
Natural selection failed this time.
Sad to see Western Maryland engine now CSX, love 1309 and the support engines for it, a wonderful train ride. Thanks for your videos, they fill an empty spot in my life.
27:02 Wow, what a catch! Strayed a long way from its home base in central Wyoming.
I've never even seen one of those before, and I live next door to Wyoming!
Every year we have a new crop of young drivers that have to learn so much more than they know from Driver’s Ed. And every year we have another crop of old drivers that need to give it up but won’t do it.
I don't understand what you are saying. Once the older drivers are gone, the roads will be unsafe for all drivers. Cars are safe, so that means that people need to be safe behind the wheel.
I was coming up fast on this car in a passing lane location. As I was getting ready to pass him, he cuts me off. I pass him on the right and I had plenty of time to pass him safely. The teacher was saying something to him and pointing at me. Was he telling him that I'm a bad driver because I was going the speed limit and didn't want to wait for him or was he telling him that he should have stayed over there. Btw, I was in a semi with a 53' trailer. He was going so slow that I passed him very quickly and I had over 50' of room behind me. He was so close to me when he cut me off that I would have had to slam on my brakes before I hit him.
I was always taught if you can't keep up with traffic, let them around you. I'd always find a place I could slow down and get them around so they could be on their way.
Part of the issue, especially for older folks who grew up when the car was still a ‘new’ thing, is that it’s just HARD to quit. You were raised with this thing and lived your whole life using it, but now you can’t anymore. Happened to my grandma, my mom had to take the keys away to stop her from driving.
It's the same in other countries too. Few people remember that its a privilege to be allowed to drive a killing machine around on open roads, it not a right! This is especially true with the ever increasing numbers of them.
@@roccolawson6703the older drivers are the most dangerous drivers. So no the roads will be much safer. In fact after the age of 80 it should be revoked because your handling and reflexes are about 10x slower. Not to mention stuff like untreated dementia and Alzheimer’s making elders drive on the wrong side of the road.
Great to see a fellow Aussie on the channel 🦘
One of the best grab bags I've seen.
Awesome grab bag! I also caught that military train at Martinsburg!
22:52 impressive stop!!!!
Super great video, especially the emptying out of the Motor Pool, LOL. Great job Virtual Railfan!!!
Very great catches especially the Western Maryland.
great cloud-spotting!!!
Great catches and thank you for the ending! God Bless America!
From the mouths of infants… small boy watching two intermodals passing in opposite directions: "Daddy, why don't they just leave them where they were instead of swapping them over?"
That's interesting seeing an open platform passenger car with a door to other passenger cars
Nice video and catch on the Leslie RS3L horn on BNSF GE unit!🛤🚂
I vote yes on the outgoing music. 🎸 👍🏻
Awesome grab bag great catches
What are 3 Orange County CA metrolink commuter train cars doing in Missouri? BTW those are the old ones that are being phased out. They are not safe in crashes...
They are being refurbish and repainted by amtrak im sure amtrak going make sure those passenger car will be safe before returning them to metrolink
Not necessarily Orange County...Metrolink also runs in LA County FYI.
It's lucky that those bridges (like at Fort Madison) have enough space to accommodate the double stacks. If not, double stacks would be unworkable.
The guy who got out of the car at Austell was probably admonishing that driver for being so careless and dangerous.
Or checking to see if the driver was okay, or both.
Meteor = awesome
Godzira in Georgia run for the train!
0:08 CSX 1852 (again at 2:08)

2:22 private car on the rear of the California Zephyr. I saw this one myself in Denver back in 2016. I like the Friends Of The 261 sign
3:57 NS high-top hoppers! Before these started appearing in grab bags, I thought the last of extended capacity hopper like these were retired in the 90s
4:29 car damages itself on the crossing!
5:32 13-unit power move
6:29 train derails! the lead truck of lead loco CSX 5211 comes off the tracks on a switch (I thought it was the autorack)
8:20 private cars on the Lake Shore Limited! The New York Central observation car is back where it originally worked!
8:55 Amtrak 145 trailing on the Lake Shore Limited that has the private cars, just the two clips are out of order (same train again at 16:50)
10:07 this car is stopped over the white line before the crossing started, then rolls forward onto the tracks and gets stuck! Manages to back free before the train gets too close!
12:22 two locomotives, "do not hump" automated inspection boxcar, and one well car with two containers!
12:46 four large transformers and Reading & Northern hoppers. the tanker also has ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ on it
13:29 black, fiery exhaust coming from the lead P42 on the California Zephyr. The blue private car from earlier is also on this train
15:50 RJ Corman tunnel motors! These were built for the Rio Grande and Southern Pacific with modified radiator compartments to run better in long tunnels.

20:17 NS 1070 leading solo
20:27 BNSF 5452 leading solo with two tail DPUs
22:00 completely missed the gate, stopped on the crosswalk, and just decide to continue crossing
22:36 Reading & Northern hoppers which I believe are ex-Canada Grain
22:50 LA Metrolink cars on the Southwest Chief, heading to be refurbished in Wisconsin
25:18 three geeps in front of a GEVO
25:39 BNSF 4355 has an RS3L horn
26:34 UP 1989 as DPU
27:02 Bighorn Divide & Wyoming RR loco
27:22 Cascades trains pass each other. One is horizon cars, the other is a Talgo
27:54 wow, both MOW and military machines on one train!
10:34 Guy got honked at for starting to go, which made him stop dead on the tracks, then the green light went away. Quite a few things going on here, but definitely the green light was too short. Honker also just gave up on him and straight up left.
Too impatient to wait for the train. Then, when they get it, it's "There wasn't enough warning!"
WTH in Austell, GA? Why aren't traffic lights synced with crossing signals? Traffic signal turns green while crossing lights are flashing!
You're right. That's odd. Everywhere I have lived, lights automatically changed when a train was coming near.
They seem to be synced, which is why the green was given within about 5 seconds of activation...
Wow, Metrolink cars in LaPlata! I don't know what I'd do if I saw them in Florida or New York.
Whoopee - Western Maryland.
1:23 Dats me!!
👋👏
As dumb as that situation was, the traffic pattern there is very poor. The light should not have turned green as the gate is already going down. That should happen before the crossing activates.
He/she should have ignored the person honking the horn and kept going. The car horn spooked him and he stopped to see what was going on. Still, not a bright driver.
@@lelandnanny967 They panicked and then became indecisive; not very good timing.
Those flashing lights mean something 🤔?
A gate arm comes down on top of the car 🚗?
2 car lengths to the track and you STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND WHATS GOING ON 🤔😮😫???
Tourists. Boing!!
12:25 what a statement csx
Hi Virtual Railfan & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Virtual Railfan & Friends Randy
Gee, was that a case of they almost missed the station in La Plata?
Really powerful of United States - very long military train 🇺🇸✊
25:25 Never seen a horn manifold that high, interesting
12:28, Huh! Only one container car?!
Wondering if wwot saw it and why it’s so short for 2 locomotives.
Wow, how often do you see a wig-wag of ANY vintage???
The train at the end of the video I caught it going through the village I live in
The car broke something important and it was dragging the ground
What song was that during the military train? Wow.
We are here to watch trains. Skipping to another train shot half way threw a train is contrary to the very idea of watching trains.
i almost had to change my underwear at that Austell near disaster
That clik bait picture of the car on the track starts st the 10:10 mark.
16:00 What is the triangular box on top of the R J Corman cabs?
It appears to be some kind of fan
I guess the guy in the white pickup couldn't believe his eyes that anyone could be THAT dumb at a crossing, so he had to walk up to the car to see for himself.
20:30, was that a no-grainer on the K line?
A good chance they were Frac sand cars headed back to Illinois or Wisconsin
I learned something from Joe Peach today. BNSF has more than one geometry car. I have seen 2 or maybe more. But one of them has more solar panels than the other.
Please lose the music near the end.
whats the news on the RJ Corman SD40Ts
I Hope RJC Could See The 3 RJ Corman SD40Ts
Is that SIMON at 7:49 getting off at La Plata?
Yes!
That must have been a transportation battalion on the final train
It's a Pull man Pull .😅 I'm so funny sometimes
Local's telling the brain dead driver that they need to learn how to drive and not get killed by a train .
I hate when I click on a baited titled and then can't find the incident. Be nice if you would bookmark it, or something. 👎👎
Go around and just take random footage of random things and slap it all together and upload it to UA-cam. Then come up with some totally misleading title and a thumbnail that gets people to think that it might be worth watching. This is one of those. I won't be back.
Lovely grab bag. One born every minute? Seems like every 5 seconds.....
0:58 thunder
Please tell the operator in Chahalis WA to stop messing up the videos by panning. The video from there is awful. Please stop!
Probably insurance scam
im first!
No
@@gtavstepfordcounty1733 he is
Silly VRF, those lights mean PARK HERE but nobody listens to them.
Wow, that driver was having a total Joe Biden moment.
I get as mad as Hades when the clips are sped up and cut away when the cam is zooming and out. Wait till cam has stopped zooming in and out before going to next clip. AND NO MORE SPED UP VIDEOS.😡😡😡😡
You know if you had better equipment you wouldn't have to pause your grab bags videos so people can read the names that are on the side of the cars when you do that it's 10 times worse smdh
Well, aren't you an ungrateful sonofagun!!😮😮🤨🤬
