Our VRF Grab Bags (GB) videos are compiled from content from our cameras as Mods and fans spot something neat while watching our cameras. In the GB you will, of course, find a variety of TRAIN content, special trains, maintenance, steam, diesels, interesting rail cars, cool paint schemes and more. You will also find fun people, city events, boats, planes, cars (sometimes going wild) and nature. Thank you for taking the time to sit back and enjoy these highlight reels that we call "Grab Bags"! - Розваги
"And here, we see a rare video of an Autorack giving birth to a pick-up, so magical!" 😆😁
Absolutely lovely, Andy!!
@@ThePhilmaywalt Thanks! I saw that and couldn't resist.
Sad part is it will go to a body shop and sold as a new truck 😢
Keep the grab bags coming VR ❤
Take my like, this is amazing
Watching the gentleman changing the wheelset was astounding!! Great catches, as always...thanks for your hard work!
Interesting to see one man doing the change. Usually there about 4 sidewalk superintendants just watching.
@@williamlavelle7786 The "support crew" are off the the clock at home tucked up in bed.(1:23am)Legendary minion tho.Under an hour solo.
13:07 - "Would the American on the train tracks please leave the train tracks." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love it when the railroaders themselves wave at the cams!!
"The little green engine that could". One guy and one remote doing the wheel set change. 👌👌 Always love seeing the old steamer.
I liked Santa Fe Jct. (01:49) with the two Trains curving round whilst passing over & under.
The Wheel-set Change at Burlington was good too. I always feel those Railroad Utility Trucks are the versatile Heroes of Railroad Maintenance Work.
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in multiple locations, especially the Heritage Units and so much more, I like them, they're awesome, @Virtual Railfan, thank you very much and have a nice day.
9:20 Looks like something the A-Team would make to go after bad guys.
Replacing the truck at Burlington, yep, one guy. dang dude got'er done
Very cool seeing three Florida Gulf & Atlantic SD70's @0:34 (rebuilt; in the "spirit" of the original Auto-Train, i.e. WHITE paint in the livery). Awesome ORIGINAL (and weather-beaten) Southern Pacific SD4 @1:37👍👍
Thanks for the shot of the Milwaukee Road grainer.
Loved the changing of wheels, amazing
Right, usually there's about three or four other guys just standing around watching one person work, amazing for one dude.
Wow! I never knew that the wheel sets " free floated " on it own axel. I knew that the whole Truck Assembly would come right off. That I do know... Nice lesson.
The ending piece was nicely put together. Music was perfect. Went looking for it later, found it under Roy Edwin Williams in Apple Music. Love it .
It's listed in the info under this video if you click "More"
Love skilled people
Interesting how that it takes longer to setup to change a wheel than to actually change the wheel 😉👍
If you are going to do this as safely as possible, then yes as it would be foolhardy to do otherwise.
Plus, it's only one worker. He's controlling the crane with a remote. Quite impressive! 👍
As with so many things, prep is what makes it or breaks it.
Good stuff. Thanks.
The changing of the wheels was fantastic
*Awesome Catches*
I was watching this as I was railfanning today what an amazing video
Amazing amtrak trains
Outstanding video thank you very much
0:32, Oh wow! That's new!
Truck said "I almost made it out."

18:05 percy will be heading to the US’s largest railroad museum, the Illinois Railroad Museum for 2 weekends
I was wondering who that was. I’m not familiar with all the characters. Why wouldn’t they truck it there?
Amazing footage of that wheel/truck change. One guy!
Switch panel cars are cool.
8:15 Fantastic four-minute sequence at Fairpoint, NY!!
Percy got kidnapped!!
19:14 That reminds me a little bit to the UFO encounter on the road scene at Close Encounters of the Third Kind!😅
This was an especially great Grab Bag--I absolutely LOVED that ending!! The steam-train footage, the Duane-Eddy-type music, and the sepia-tones combined into something that was completely magical. It was also super-cool to see that wheelset replacement, and Percy is adorable. But what was up with the window guards on that engine in Flag? Do they have to travel through a slum or something?
Hi Virtual Railfan & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Virtual Railfan & Friends Randy
I saw that 1072 lashup irl at Marion Ohio!!!
Those window screens mean the engine was down on FXE trackage in Mexico. I know this bc I've seen some just like them.
Thanks for info. I thought maybe it came out of Port of Los Angles, (rough neighborhood ) Or moved things that go BOOM for D of Defence.
@@richarderickson8840 Good guess, but FXE has a bunch of those and I’ve seen them down where I live.
Thanks!! I just asked about them in my comment above, but now your explanation solves the mystery.
@@donnaj9964 Yeah, I was confused when I saw them first too.
Good times during the runaround 😮
Power move to start the grab bag with! And I'm certain those red, white and blue locos are new ones for the Florida Gulf and Atlantic Railroad, which is the former CSX line from Baldwin FL to Pensacola FL via Tallahassee. Despite the CSX bowline 's close proximity, I don't currently get down that way much, but these will be something to look for the next time I do. 😁
Dang, they Sponge-Bobbed that last CSX SD40-2
Well, both of them after watching again.
Ns really showed up all their heritage unit
Amtrak 516!
Always a sad sight, crews confined behind wire mesh,.,,
That 4448 one number short of a certain Southern pacific daylight engine
That BNSF with the window guards goes into Ol Mejico...they routinely attack them down there.
At 24:13 how cool is that to be mugging for the VRF camera and be photo-bombed by a train, complete with horn salute?
Reference🔥🔥🔥
00:30 the FGAR is my hometown railroad and I am so hyped that we are finally gettting these sd70m locomotives
Me too! I am so excited!
@@JustinsRailfanning it’s been a few months since they were first revealed and I thought that it was just a photoshop and forgot abt it then I saw the pfp on this and instantly freaked out, I’m hoping to catch these in between Greenville and Lee
@@Junction_ShortsMe too I saw it back in May and then I was told they were coming along and I was just waiting for virtual Railfan to get a clip of them! 😅 Hopefully they’ll be running on the TA-East a lot so I can get them. I actually just got the Westbound heading back to Tallahassee about 1 hour ago!
@@JustinsRailfanning alright! What was powering it? I think it goes through Madison around 5:00-ish. That’s the closest it is it me
@@Junction_Shorts No it goes through Madison today at least at 11 AM and then returned at like 1:30 or so PM, it was 107 leader and 106 trailing, both SD70M-2s.
the blue bnsf gp38 is an ex conrail unit--there is one stored at rozet gillette wyoming
Thanks! I wondered about that livery.
Kool choice of song at the end, thought he had a 'gun'. Was that like a theater show type thing?
It’s interesting seeing DPUs on trains, since the FEC down here doesn’t do that
Love that night shot as the engine approaches.
The locomotive with the rock shields are telling you this locomotive has been to mexico
Is that 4822 a new heritage unit for NS? @4:14
Not heritage unit. Special paint. But new special scheme, yes.
@@Lnmwr It's very cool.
Where are the Red, White and Blue units going? that autorack had a little one..
At 20:27, is there nothing to do in Flagstaff at 2 in the morning except watch the work trains go through?
Was there a railfan out there?
@@jamesghiorzoe107 a whole bunch in the parking loy
@@musicman8942 okay, just noticed
So what's the story behind the window guards on the BNSF unit?
What’s your favorite train ever? mine is the war bonnet
10:38 Can anyone clear this doubt for me? Does the driver have information when this happens? When does the train separate?
the F.R.E.D. indicates a loss of air pressure when something like that happens. The engineer stops the train.
The crew on the head end knows something is wrong when the air goes down in emergency. The conductor has to walk the train to figure out what is wrong; after they make an emergency transmission to any opposing trains in case their train derailed and is fouling the other main; they call the dispatcher to let them know they are in emergency and where and get any protection needed to inspect the train. This crew got off "easy". For some reason the train just separated between those two covered hoppers. Could have been a weak coupler pin that got bounced at just the wrong time? Could have been a high/low coupling between the cars that slipped out and separated? Sometimes you never figure it out for sure. Anyway, all they had to do was re-couple, do an air test and resume their trip, after I'm assuming, the conductor inspected the rest of the train to make sure that was the only problem.
@@jamesmckenzie3532 thanks
@@paulw.woodring7304 thanks
@@paulw.woodring7304 Neat info--thanks!
What is the apparatus at the end of the NS business car(inspection car?). Looks like covering the coupler area. Is it to prevent unwanted coupling?
Surprised BNSF took long enough to install Getto guards
Wow 3 in 1 mishap!!!
Those windows that BNSF has, it protects them with FXE so that the window breaks
What’s up with the window guards on the loco in Flagstaff?
Probably a loco regularly assigned to one of the "high crime risk" locations.
Mexico
Explore the " Strasburg tour line"!! That would be sweet! Out of Paradise thru the whole journy.
We went 2 weeks ago and it was magical!!
Florida Gulf And Atlantic-a Pinsley railroad.
I think that’s the F-150 I ordered at 12:45
Guess they forget to set the emergency brake when they loaded it.
Hey nash i went to your live cam in Elkhart at the train museum it was fun i said hello nash on the cam
Music at back reminded me of the Mandalorian theme - but pretty sure he was not an engineer...
FGA has almost same livery as HŽ Cargo in Europe😂
… and now it makes total sense why air brakes work the opposite of how people might guess they would work! If the air was used to force the brake shoes on the wheels, what would stop a set of cars should an air hose separate?
Did a motor vehicle get claustrophobic?
What was that window guard for at Arizona? Was it to protect against sunlight and glare or was it for something else?
The window guard is used in Mexico
ロサンゼルス発シカゴ行きのアムトラックが8時間も遅れてたから何かと思ったら車両故障でしたか😅

Armed military ride freight trains in Mexico, probably where that unit it heading/coming from.

6:10 Just can't bring yourself to say it! 😄 Too funny. again, it's an opera window centerbeam. It has that name because of the oval openings in the car body. Just own your error and call it what it is.
First 5!
So, the window guards are defensives against thugs? Why not just provide firearms as well as thugs will think twice when confronted with a Armalite Rifle 15.
