Paco Pena´s music never fails to move me, sometimes to tears. I can´t really fathom why; it bypasses my thoughts to touch me straight in the heart. Maybe I was a ´zigane´ in a former life, what do I know. A track from his ´Misa Flamenca´ I put on the list of what I´d like to be played at my funeral. Saw him live once, in Amsterdam; hope he´ll be back one day, even old and stiff he´s my hero.

I met and spoke with Paco on numerous ocassions - usually after a concert at the back of the stage in London. I still have with me a large framed coloured photograph from the 1980s of Paco playing the guitar signed and autographed specially to me. It hangs proudly in my home office.

I met Paco at Queen Elizabeth hall concert in London at around 1970. I knew a guitarist who played in his group. I bought a guitar off Paco 😇👍

The very first LP I bought of Paco in 1977 called " La Guitarra Flamenca " has this song called Leyenda ( Legend ) on it.
My all time favourite also on that LP is Serranas. Same time structure and Seguiriyas has the same structure. Serranas takes me to somewhere very personal with the first chords. Peteneras is a very close second. Many thanks for posting this. Paco doesn't play them often and I've seen him play many times, always wishing to hear him play Serranas above anything ! I urge anyone interested in Flamenco to try and find this LP !

Paco Peña ha sido, siempre, en mi casa materna todo un referente de la pureza en guitarra flamenca. Eso sí, sus discos venían en lengua inglesa.
