The combination of trains and Motorsport on this Channel is mouthwatering. When I grow up, I want to be Mike Downie.
Sorry, you can only ever be Jimmy Fremgen, the only one that ever was or will be. Mike and others like him can me mentors and role models, but only to a point - beyond which you have to go your own way.
This Dakar Rally series is the best! Loving every minute. You are such a comfortable interviewer!
This longer video was awesome .. the lil short ones leave you wanting much more info lol what an amazing adventure ! Thanks for taking us along !😊
I really have little interest at all in Motorsports…and yet, you manage to make all of this fun to watch, Mike! That’s probably the best compliment I can give your channel…
Wow! Thanks so much! I promise I will always do my best to make every video interesting ;)
What an amazing experience. Love that you had access to a driver to get his perspective on what was going on.
You find the coolest thing to highlight, this is so cool! Fun as well.
“Where did you learn all this?” Him “On my PlayStation” 😂😂😂
Mike, you are such a great story teller and interviewer! I can't believe you don't have 7M subs!
Dude these are crazy. You're living every racing fans dreams.
That looks like it was a really cool race to watch....lucky you!
You are a great story teller, videographer, and a fine ambassador for 🇨🇦. Cheers, and safe travels. 🍁🤙
Thank you kindly!
This is the earliest I've ever gotten to see one of your uploads!
I love watching cars race sometimes but saw nothing like this before!!!
Another awesome adventure! Stay safe Mike!
The Force is strong with that boy!! LOL I've always wanted to drive a rally car like that!!✌🐢
Great series like always!!! Can't wait for whats next week!
I guessed RIGHT!! I knew it was the Rally you was heading to!!!
Makes me want to go so badly!!! Awesome video
I don't know when it was live, but on epic games, for a brief moment, Dakar 2 the rally was free. For a free game, absolutely amazing detail that's helped me understand how a couple of things work like navigation, seeing just how massive some of these dunes they're taking, and seeing just how robust the suspension is. Chonky tires propelling you up to speeds of 160-200+ kph (depending on the vehicle) and so on. It's honestly an insane game, with some minor hiccups, but when it was free, it was definitely a worthwhile pick up.
Great vlog again.❤️🇨🇦🐕
Really awesome to see and learn about
This is fascinating. I’m not into motorsports (4 legged horsepower is more my thing) but am familiar with this race. Loved the behind the scenes. And hey, you can’t beat a baby camel shot. :)
That was really cool :D Loved seeing it!
nice to see my both favorit youtubers, downie and marcus in the same videos
Wow….I had no idea! Incredible.
Not my favorite but I've learned to watch anyway because you make it so fun. Thanks again.
Awesome! Having a long night but glad I caught this early!
Morning!
No, I'm not jealous....no, I'm not. That darn Downie...I think I'm jealous! lol Cool stuff Mike!! Until next week!
Hahaha! I feel ya! If I hadn’t been there myself, I would feel exactly like you right now. I’m just glad I could share as much of it with you as I could.
@@DownieLive- Mike, I was in Saudi Arabia on the American Plan in 1990/91 for Operation Desert Storm. One interesting take-away I brought back was even though Saudi Araba has the world's largest sand desert, they must import sand for concrete as their sand has rolled around for so long that it is now little ball bearings and won't make good cement / concrete.
Wow that was pretty fun to watch. It almost reminds of NASCAR racing but in the desert.
Ha! True!
Спасибо за возможность посмотреть Дакар - ралли изнутри твоими глазами!!!!!
Great video man and concept please keep It up love to see how your situation progresses!
Looks like a lot of fun!
LOVE this video... I'm a huge Dakar fan
Great video but gosh i want more! Great you got the voice of recent Dakar in it with Toby!
What an awesome invite by Red Bull.
Hope someday you participate to Dakar Mike, you have great fanbase and i'm one of them for sure, also i hope you make a video for Ottawa, i love anything through your camera, good luck Mike, can't wait for what's next 🙏🙏🙏🏆🏆🏆
Just awesome to watch
Makes my day when you upload! Always fantastic quality and great insights.
Fascinating!
The Quick Look was fun but I want the long in depth look!
MOAR MOAR MOARRRRRR!!!!!
I hope there are more videos from dakar, this was awesome
Hey hey thanks for the upload .... Come explore Florida...
Woah, what is this racing? I have never even heard of this. I cannot wait to see it!
It's called Rally Raid this is the premiere race, the Dakar Rally, takes 2 weeks and many thousand miles.
how does this have only 53k views? This is so sick. Also you have a great personality man, excited to see you hit 1M subs. Super underrated channel
Thanks Dom!
I guess no one cares about the Dakar Rally? 🤷🏼♂️
@@DownieLive well it'll catch on eventually. Hyped on your latest content tho man, Red Bull sending you to these events and such. Your style of journalism is comforting!
Such fun!
Very cool! The teamwork and focus is awesome. Schooled by Playstation.
I’m only 4 mins in and I love this guys personality 🤣
Welcome to the channel Sam!
Awesome to see you and Swedish Marcus Dubois
I LOVE the Dakar! There is NOTHING else in ALL of sports that compares!
Tell me more!!!!!
You would enjoy a WRC round. I've gone to Wales Rally GB and have a couple of them on my list of places to go now after that.
Mike - I love your content man. You honestly seem like such a genuinely nice and optimistic guy. I really like your positive energy and video format. Keep it up amigo!
I appreciate that!
very cool video downie!!!!
I really enjoyed your F1 content and any new content dealing with motor racing is a great content for me,, thank you!! =)
It’s my pleasure! 😊
Super cool 😎
Thanks!
I get to watch THIS before work with breakfast? I know it’s gonna be a good day Fuck yea
That was cool, Mike.
"Did you see my snacks?"
Those carbon fiber shovels are actually more practical than people may think, a lot of back country skiers or people just in the back country in deep snow that has an avalanche potential these carbon shovels are almost a must, but yea I expect to see a lot more stuff like that made out of carbon cause why not? When they get the production cost of carbon materials down everything will be made out of carbon. Lol
Makes me want to go so badly!!!
Another great one man!! Well done 🚀
Merci Lucas! It was so fun doing this with you!
Loved the mobile fuel station, those pumps are so tiny
Come on another episode of Dakar 😮
Fun to watch. I am too claustrophobic to ride in that little "cockpit" for an extended period of time.
Just got done watching ‘Sand Job’ in Amazon prime what are the odds!!
That was sick
Great video Mike. Any plans in upgrading your camera with stabilization 😁
Great interview/conversations with Seth. He's a real character. You showed us where he is staying during the race but you didn't show us where you are staying. I don't think it was one of the tents.
P.S. You're cool too. I find all of your trips/adventures interesting.
What an amazing place to be.
i think u might've used the desert driving clip where the guy gets stuck in the last episode too.
Awesome
Marcus Dubois in the car with you. Interesting.
So many questions, firstly, did you meet Harry Metcalfe? Why is this not a longer video? Wish this was the first installment of a five part series :(
Everyone hit the like button now now
Yo have a great day! ❤
You too, Ronak!
I love Off Road
👍
The track could change at any moment.
💯👌🏽
For a minute, I thought you were somewhere like Niger or Mauritania..But now the countries on the way to Senegal are too conflicted..
They use Toyotas as crew cars for a very good reason.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

F1 Drivers: To succeed in racing you have to follow the racing line at the track to have the best time
Dakar Drivers: What track?
remind me how saudi arabia treats journalists
Grand tour did it with cheaply modified cars.
And now you know why most people in those races unless they are in a Truck are about 5' 4" to 5' 8"
Although your videos are amazing, I miss the more down-to-earth videos from Vancouver and BC.
I understand... I think for that exact reason, you're going to appreciate this weekend's video.
you share get around
Saudi Arabia is like working with IRL badguys. They chop up journalists.....
And why not Downie?? All of that dust in the air is dust in the wind cause all we are is dust, or ocean in the wind. Oh. that was written by Kanas!
I miss when the Paris-Dakar rally ACTUALLY ended up in Dakar (and started at least in Europe). Was an ardent fan for many years, but due to the safety issues eventually they ended up in South America for a few years, and just couldn't get into that, I missed the Sahara too much. Glad to see they're at least back on the African continent, but I long for it returning to a multicountry affair again.
I didn't know there was any race in the world that included so many different types of vehicles, each racing against their own type I assume. I'm guessing the race originated in the Sahara, given its name. I guess you need to be careful critiquing a driver's snack reserves. Looking forward to next week and I hope UA-cam sends me a notification, unlike this time.
Bro do train videos if you want views! Sorry for being blunt but thats how your algo works!
I’ve been doing this for 7 years, I’m very aware how the algorithm works. I’m trying to enjoy life and not just sit on trains looking at life through a window.
Life is passing you by. Get out there and enjoy it 😉
early comment
Sand Job?!?!?!?
😂 basically, right?! What interesting timing for these 2 to come out.
I'm not one to normally comment especially negative but... The shake is your video footage make it nearly unwatchable!
Bunch of people all simping for Islam.
More like simping for desert racing!
@@DownieLive In a country with few rights for women. Undeniably a cool race-- can it only prosper taking SA money?
It would be incredibly nice if, just for a change......and on a channel known for travel, motorsports and trains......people could just enjoy the topic at hand and seeing something that is seldom seen, without forcing their politics onto the subject. This video wasnt ABOUT politics. It doesnt NEED to be about politics. Your attitude is a very large part of the problem you know. You arent saving any women in Saudi Arabia from anything by abusing a motor sport enthusiast travel vlogger for taking a golden opportunity offered to him and sharing that opportunity with the rest of us. Youve also missed a few opportunities to shut up and learn by having an agenda. Personally I find it educational to see the culture and environment in nations very different to my own. It doesnt mean I condone their choices, but I do respect their right to make them.......and I try to understand why they are the way they are. You might like to try that one day, you might learn to better direct your outrage.
@@heatherrowles9930 How exactly is pointing out some apparently very uncomfortable facts abusive?
@@mgratk bahahahaha......of course your behaviour is abusive, you dont really understand how language works, do you? Mike Downie hasnt extolled the virtues of Arabic culture in his video. This is his channel, he decides the topic, in this case it is the Dakar Rally. Not the social culture of the country the race happens to be in. You are abusing Mike's hospitality by trying to spruik your (very poorly understood by you) social crusade. This isnt a political channel.
