Funny thing is I have the original RE4 for Gamecube I bought as a kid with my own money and only played the very beginning. It was scary at the time. I never got past the village part where the demo ends and never got around to playing it. I also have the first RE Remake on the Gamecube as well in mint condition. Gonna be playing the remake now.
Been play RE 4 every year since it came. I met my best friend when he saw me playing RE 4 on gamecube in my garage the year it came out and weve been best buds ever since. Resident Evil 4 Wii is the best port and a god tier Wii game for me its a must own on the console
I played this game for the first time 2 years ago and loved it. I just bought the remake today can't wait to play it. Also had no clue that re 4 is one of the highest rated games of all time.
Theres a reason people forgot 0 though. The inventory was a hassle, you had to backtrack just because of the inventory because the grapple gun, and the controls are a little wonky, especially on the gamecube, its better on the ps4. People disliked the game, it simply isnt very good overall. I PERSONALLY love the game but its got a number of problems that are understandable. Not as much as like re5 and 6 but i dont see a remake being worth it, nobody is asking as least we dont see it a lot.
When I was a kid I used to play a lot of re4 and at that time I had to take turns with my grandpa to use the tv, and he saw me playing this game, to him is called the blonde crazy dude that hates barrels and crates, just sharing a memory
Got it on day 1, I was 8 Years old. Watched my dad play resident evil my whole life, when this game came out its was mindblowing. Our favorite game ever, beat it probably 15 times.
Oh man that is awesome that you played this at 8 years old bro, I remember being 13 when it came out and wouldn't dare touch it until like 2 years later lol, I would watch my older brother play it instead
I love nearly all RE games but I'm also in the camp that loves RE5 and RE6 more than say.. RE4. Most of that is admittedly due to the amazing time I've had playing it with friends. The hate RE6 got at the time was simply too much. That said, RE2R is my fave so far. Also... Zero REALLY needs that remake.
I played the PS2 version for hundreds and hundreds of hours in my teens. Still going on PS4 and can’t wait for the remake. Something about RE4 is so replayable.
I love all of the Resident Evil games because all of them, even remakes of older games, are all special and unique from each other. No game is the same, but they still fit well amongst each other. I love the original Resident Evil 4, I will love and am immensely excited for the remake too.
Exactly!!!!! All the resident evil games I’ve played I enjoyed even 5 that was my least fav it’s still a good game ! I tried to play 0 and 1 remake but unfortunately I couldn’t stand the tank controls, fixed camera angles and the ink ribbon because I’m a guy that saves RE game every 10 minutes 😂😂😂😂😂 but I finished 2 remake, 3 remake, 4 remake (which is my fav), 5,6,7,8 and both revelations games and I’m currently in the middle of 4 original and I am REALLY enjoying it. I enjoyed all of the RE games so far even 6 that people hate I found it much much much more fun and slightly better than 5. Each resident evil game is unique, as much shit 3 remake gets, I LOVE IT but it’s wayyyy too short and nemesis dog phase is kinda stupid but 3 remake is awesome. I considered to play operation raccoon city but then I went back. What a wonderful franchise!!!!
I think it's great but I still prefer the classic style Resident Evils. Maybe the new version is better, but I haven't played it yet. Code Veronica is the one that needs to have a remake. It's one of the best games in the series, along with OG RE2 and RE3.
Take it from someone who childhood was RE4, I completed it over 20 times and it’s in my top 3 games of all time with Bioshock and Mario 64. The remake is better and it’s not even a debate
I was excited for this to come out, I was a diehard PS2 RE4 nerd growing up but now because I’m on my own with my kid I can’t afford it but I’m super excited for your review! I hope it doesn’t disappoint.
I have played this on every console it's ever been released on, including phone haha. And the remake is still able to find ways to scare the shit out of me. They outdid themselves. 😍
Enjoy the video. I too love this game, and I have only played it about three times (GC, Download PSN, and PS4). I do have my PS5 copy, just because every amazing game (that I have played)rereleased on an next gen system I end up having to get, this is one of them. I should mention that your Mass Effect backdrop is a game that when the first one came out (don't remember the year) I tried it and stopped only within an hour of gameplay, and I don't remember what was my problem. I ended up trying when they rereleased the trilogy, and holy shit I was so wrong...this has to be one of my favorite series ever! Thanks for sharing.
Even though I was too much of a chicken shit to complete the game back in the day I still consider it to be my first (and one of my personal favorite) RE games. I think the thing that appealed to me the most is the fact it was third person. The fixed camera angles in the first few games were what I hated the most as a kid because I could never see what I was aiming at. Although I have more appreciation for them as an adult. RE4 truly breathed new life into the series, and that's the thing I love about the games: that they are able to reinvent themselves so successfully. I still haven't gotten around to playing RE4 Remake, but I've heard nothing but good things fortunately
Never could get into this game as a kid on the PS2. I’m getting the remake tomorrow and hopefully this time I can get into it and see whats so great about it.
There’s so many aspects that can be improved in the OG RE 4!!! Does it need a remake? Nothing needs a remake really, but can it benefit from one? Most definitely!
Playing through this game for the first time myself. I'm at the maze garden in Salazar's Castle, and it has been fun for reasons I wasn't expecting. I find myself dying in 1-2 hits, which at first annoyed me greatly. It isn't that I'm playing bad, but you have so much information being thrown at you with the tank controls that I've died around 15 times. It has completely sapped the horror out of it for me, but now that I've given up being scared, I can reassess each death and get better. Instead of keeping the tension, it's turned into a trial and error style of playing that I'm enjoying. When an approach doesn't work, it's fun to just try things differently. I can see this having real replay value and paying dividends depending on how much time you invest in it which is something few games do. Most developers want that first playthrough to be where you get the most value, but this feels quite the opposite.
I haven’t stopped playing this game it was new. Across tons of consoles and modding in randomizer on PC. Safe to say it’s probably my favorite game ever
People like to forget RE4 was already ported like seven times before Skyrim was released once. RE4 isn't "another Skyrim", Skyrim is "another RE4". Live with it.
I intended to briefly play it before the remake coming out. My playthrough ended up lasting 11 hours within a few days. I figured I'd breeze right through it but that dynamic difficulty was no joke. Still a masterpiece.
Yes it was , also it was the first video game I ever played along with NFS most wanted and Gta san Andreas... My father installed all three of these games on my first ever computer with an ati graphic card lol How nostalgic 😊
I rank it higher than 4 cause it kinda tighten mechanics from 4 and really nailed the coop. I also kinda like it more cause people crapped on it more for seemingly hypocritical reasons. People always raved 4 was a masterpiece and best action horror ever, but 5 came along suddenly everyone like “it’s to action-y!” Or “he punches a boulder!” But like…. Leon throws suplexes and bullet holes a village? They had him run away from like a 3story tall robot? So it always bothered me re4 was harolded as this best thing ever when it set a precedent and people complained bout they expanding on it in 5. Idk maybe just me lol.
I remember playing the Wii version when I was in middle school 13 YRS ago!!! Haven’t played it since, I tried the demo and turned it off right after the Chainsaw Boi came out. HOWEVER, I’ve been addicted to watching “Hollow” play through the game and decided, you know what? I bought it, and it’s installing now lol
This is in my opinion the best Resident Evil game. Because it kept the survival horror while feeling more action based. I spent countless hours replaying the story and the mercenary mode.
its great, seeing it back then was a gameplay-focused japan jank due to its early TPS handedness, campy writing, b-rated action flick title that still does the fundamental of survival horror with resource management of the series that inspired bioshock and others. great like Sam Raimi's Spiderman 2.
I'm glad you've mentioned the controversy with RE6's action structure. Many fans begged for the same beloved characters that were fully experienced for going against these BOW companies and expect it to be scary. Yet, Capcom always given what was asked for, and even with the mediocre campaigns(campaign sound weird I know), the 2 player gun switching, dive backon the ground, roll out the way and shoot segment was what they needed forever. RE6 has some of the best 3rd person shooting handles ever(name some 3rd person shooters with controls that compete with RE6, they gonna be the best games you can possibly think of). It has many gimmick reasons on why it was a disappointment, but the gameplay was top notch. RE4 Remake is LIT btw(Chapter 5 Hardcore), but I accidentally play this as if it's RE6(lacking many of those skills, had to make it scary, right?). Playing this makes me want a Remake of 5 and 6 now, and CVX, and Outbreak, and Survivor, and Dead Aim, and Gaiden(okay I'll stop)...
I've played all RE, and beat the first when I was maybe 8 at the time when it came out. Good stuff, but I want an RE5 remake. I put way too much time into that game. The co-op was the best part and at the time was a big deal during that era. I even platinum trophy that game. A 4k remake with quality of life would be great. Idk if they will ever do Code Veronica, and they should. If they do they will probably change the entire game to follow the new style of game, which is fine, because you need it to continue the story of RE before you get to 5 and 6. They keep making them, I'll keep buying them.
Bro its not often someone gives the evil within its due respect. I love that game. Loved it enough that I even completed it on akumu mode for so I could get the platinum.
I’ve played this game on ps2, gamecube, Wii, and Xbox one and now series x for remake lmao. It’s a great game but i don’t think it’s the best game ever but personally i do like it more than the last of us which is unpopular opinion probably lol. I do not want 5 or 6 remake next. It needs to be code Veronica x then 0 or 1
People always talk this game up but I just don't care for the horror genre. Dead Space however does look appealing to me though. Fun fact this game was originally going to be more like the previous RE games but the remake of the original sold poorly prompting the changes to franchise. I only just learned of this.
Starts off strong but by the end of this game I was relieved for it to end, like seriously that last stretch after the Krauser fight was a draaaag!!! Just really hit me that I didn’t enjoy this direction that Resident Evil went with Resi4 and onwards with 5 ‘n 6.
@@fazelfarrokhi1998 RE4 og is always will be there for you. its not like they gonna take it form you. the remake is not meant to replace the og that btw is still legendary and icon of classic games. the remake is a whole new experience of your favorite game RE4. If you want to try it try it it's like a gift to the fans... otherwise you don't have to buy it
I love 4 and it is my favorite but I am way more excited for a potential RE5 remake. It was a fun game and I would love to see it with a modern fresh coat of paint.
You're right about Resident Evil 4 being released a bunch of times. But it's nowhere near as bad as skyrim. And it came out 7 years before skyrim. At least R.E. isn't claiming to "add" this or that with every new version, when in reality Skyrim is adding pretty much nothing gamechanging. And for the most part Resident Evil 4 has been released so you can play it on EVERY platform. Skyrim has been released to charge everybody over and over again.
The dialogue at 3:30..... I get it from a consumer point of view.... But you have to remember vendors are in the hole sometimes hundreds and hundreds of dollars to just be there to sell you games. Sometimes it's worth it to get it at market value because it's right there in person you can see the condition you can see the accuracy and it's worth it.. I personally don't charge over market when I tend to try to be 10 to 15% under but I'm more of a casual vendor I've ended at like 15 shows... But people who do that for a living don't bust their balls they're not trying to rip you off.... Buy a couple tables and realize they need to sell you $500 worth of games just to break even... Just something to consider.. random dude I'm currently subscribed to
Re-releases of Skyrim were inspired by RE4. Tbh, i am not against re-releases of games. I wish some games were re-released on 360. Persona or KOTOR for example. (or +R)
The only time your are going to experience a game for what it is will be the day that you play it because you feel like playing it, and not because you just want the "I played this game before" title". That's when you will know if a game is good or not.
I played the original RE4 the day before Resident Evil 4 remake came out so I could make an honest and accurate comparison between the two. I love both versions. I love the remake for its game play and fleshed out story. But I do miss the campiness and sassy attitude the original Leon had. "No thanks, bro"
I'm only up to the point of finding Luis at the lake. Is it any better than the original? I can't say it is so far, it just has some quality of life improvements.
Resident Evil 4 is a phenomenal game on its own merits but overrated as a Resident Evil game. By today's standards, it's an outdated and disjointed experience, and I'm glad the remake seems to be remedying most of the issues I've had with it over the years.
RE4R is unbelievably good. I honestly thought the original was overrated but enjoyable. The hype and reception of the remake is not overrated. I'm going on Chapter 4 now and this might now become my favorite RE game
Hownis the original overrated??? You probably played the game late asf, cant "think" something is overrated if you was late to the party and not a resident evil fan
I remember buying this on PS2 and was so disappointed about the fact that I couldn’t save the game on my memory-card at the time. For some reason this game couldn’t save on any third party memory cards.
Much like with Metroid Prime, it baffles me that the devs who made shooter games for GameCube just absolutely could not wrap their heads around using the C-stick for aiming control. I know it's kind of small and nubby, but it would have been fine.
It’s funny you mentioned the dead space remake because if I remember correctly, the original dead space took a little inspiration from resident evil 4.
Calling myself out here, I have never played the OG RE4, and by the time I got to it, third person shooters have already progressed further so it was hard for me to get into it with the dated control scheme, but I think I will try again while I wait to get the remake
Even at the time for me on ps2 I had same experience. Had fun and enjoyed it, but it’s far from my fav resi game though. Maybe top 5 but def not too 3 for me personally. Good game, played well, was fun, but just was missing a little charm I wanted from the other games.
I'm having real trouble with the Remake. Staggering is very inconsistent and the aiming feels horrible to control. I've tried messing with the sensitivity and acceleration/deceleration but I can't get it to feel right.
@@punishedhek7495 Great advice. I’ve been playing games a long time. I know what good shooting feels like, and this isn’t it. Feels much worse than RE2 Remake just a few years ago, and nowhere as snappy as the original RE4. But sure, reflexively defend a game that just released because you’re a man-child with no criticism for things you enjoy.
@@IfYouSeekCaveman these games are not for you, these games are made to feel realistic not snappy like fornite, that's why capcom never listen to dumb people like you and keep the game as is, I'm on chapter 6 have no problems or complaint, re2 remake pre perfect. These games are just not for you. Go play something else and leave these games to people that are gonna enjoy it
15.30 No, it's just inconvenient and a hassle. Okay sure, maybe it adds a bit of tension, but it's also unrealistic and clunky. Like, why would I, a functional human being, NOT be able to move my legs while holding a gun? RE6 fixed that, plus it showed the true colors of a franchise that was ALWAYS focused on cheesy action, but just never wanted to admit or fully commit to it.
Yh capcom have been doing so well with resident evil you have 7 then 2 remake both excellent and 3 which was still great but not as good as 2 and then you have village which is also amazing and now 4 remake keep going capcom
4 isn’t in my top 3 resi games. Was damn fun and pretty story, but getting it for ps2 after everyone raved bout it on GameCube I just didn’t see it. Still think 4 is a bit overrated honestly. Am gonna check out the remake though cause like said was solid game all around and they always deliver on a good game regardless. Now I do want a remake of Veronica. Really wanted that after 3remake but they skipped it to do 4. I’ll be sorely disappointed if they skip it again and go to remaking 5. Veronica definitely needs some love.
I would rather have the pros of both the original and the remake without any of the cons and than vastly improve upon that to make it have all horror all action and all campy potential at full potential

Resident Evil 4 was the first game I ever played when I was 18 years old. I'm a grandfather now, and I've been showing RE4 to my grandchildren every weekend since they were born. It is the greatest game of all time, and I love it more than my grandchildren.
@Mookie Stewart There are younger grandparents than that. It's not unheard of, you young kids just can't fanthom being a responsible adult with children at the age of 17. You kids will be living with mommy and daddy until you 42 😂😂😂
@@JohnDoe-zg6fn whats responsible about having kids at 17? Stop making it seem like having kids is something so trivial.
You earned a subscriber for your hot take on resident evil 5
I've played all RE, and beat the first when I was maybe 8 at the time when it came out. Good stuff, but I want an RE5 remake. I put way too much time into that game. The co-op was the best part and at the time was a big deal during that era. I even platinum trophy that game. A 4k remake with quality of life would be great. Idk if they will ever do Code Veronica, and they should. If they do they will probably change the entire game to follow the new style of game, which is fine, because you need it to continue the story of RE before you get to 5 and 6. They keep making them, I'll keep buying them.
I think code Veronica is one you’d love! It’s the cheesiest of the RE games imo.
And most annoying one too
Especially Steve Burnside and his Canadian accent.
Bro its not often someone gives the evil within its due respect. I love that game. Loved it enough that I even completed it on akumu mode for so I could get the platinum.
I have physical copies for GC, PS2, Wii edition, PS4, and Switch. Love the game.
You forgot Xbox 360 and Xbox one
@@armandomorales0921 almost as if he doesn't own those copies...
It needs to be code Veronica x then 0 or 1
I loved the last of us 1 but after 2 I’m not as nearly as big a fan as I once was so it’s okay
Yes, it is. Better than the Remake. Just wait till that Recency Bias wares off.
8:56 there’s definitely a disc there man.
Matt your gonna be blown away be re4make.
People always talk this game up but I just don't care for the horror genre. Dead Space however does look appealing to me though. Fun fact this game was originally going to be more like the previous RE games but the remake of the original sold poorly prompting the changes to franchise. I only just learned of this.
with silent hill 2 remake coming soon hopefully we bout to eat so so good
Its prety amazing. Exactly how you do a remake. I found the original not all that great but i do like the remake.
Starts off strong but by the end of this game I was relieved for it to end, like seriously that last stretch after the Krauser fight was a draaaag!!! Just really hit me that I didn’t enjoy this direction that Resident Evil went with Resi4 and onwards with 5 ‘n 6.
Yep it's I was talking bad about the game. But after playing it...I pull every word I said..damn good work Capcom
yes re4 og is great better than remake
@@fazelfarrokhi1998 RE4 og is always will be there for you. its not like they gonna take it form you. the remake is not meant to replace the og that btw is still legendary and icon of classic games. the remake is a whole new experience of your favorite game RE4. If you want to try it try it it's like a gift to the fans... otherwise you don't have to buy it
I’ve not been addicted to a game like this in a looong time.
I love 4 and it is my favorite but I am way more excited for a potential RE5 remake. It was a fun game and I would love to see it with a modern fresh coat of paint.
I remember being glued to this game till I beaten it. My gf at the time got zero attention from me.
Funny facts lord saddler is the voice of one of the first characters in Skyrim listen again and you can hear it
The dialogue at 3:30..... Just something to consider.. random dude I'm currently subscribed to
oh god the chainsaw controller lol
Revelations 2 is the best co op resident evil imo
Re-releases of Skyrim were inspired by RE4.
Tbh, i am not against re-releases of games. I wish some games were re-released on 360. Persona or KOTOR for example. (or +R)
Don’t forget the first Doom
The only time your are going to experience a game for what it is will be the day that you play it because you feel like playing it, and not because you just want the "I played this game before" title".
That's when you will know if a game is good or not.
I've wanted to make a review of this game since I started my channel but have no Idea what to say that hasn't been said yet lol
You forgot to mention the most important versions, the RE4 for PC! They had to port the game to PC twice. Plus the iPhone version
@@punishedhek7495 I was super late. I didn't play it until I could play it on PS4. There is something called an opinion btw
a culmination of the RE series, to a culmination of the RE remake series.
i allways had mixed feelings about re4 even back when i was a teen playing it for the first time on ps2 but nvm. downloaded the remake and had a blast
Is it 2004 again already?
It’s funny you mentioned the dead space remake because if I remember correctly, the original dead space took a little inspiration from resident evil 4.
Think he mentions that in review lol.
100k subs lets go!!
hello where did you buy the death otw hoodie pls
Calling myself out here, I have never played the OG RE4, and by the time I got to it, third person shooters have already progressed further so it was hard for me to get into it with the dated control scheme, but I think I will try again while I wait to get the remake
Even at the time for me on ps2 I had same experience. Had fun and enjoyed it, but it’s far from my fav resi game though. Maybe top 5 but def not too 3 for me personally. Good game, played well, was fun, but just was missing a little charm I wanted from the other games.
Sucks for you
I'm having real trouble with the Remake. Staggering is very inconsistent and the aiming feels horrible to control. I've tried messing with the sensitivity and acceleration/deceleration but I can't get it to feel right.
Not for you, aiming is perfect, realistic, it's a resident evil game, it's not supposed to feel like fornite.
Go play something else and leave these games to people that are gonna enjoy it
Would much rather have them remake Dino Crisis than RE5. And I LOVE RE5.
I agree all the games are enjoyable in some capacity even the bad ones
Yes. My favorite game of all time
Yh capcom have been doing so well with resident evil you have 7 then 2 remake both excellent and 3 which was still great but not as good as 2 and then you have village which is also amazing and now 4 remake keep going capcom
Started the remake today.
I didn't mind not moving when shooting but having to go in the inventory to change weapons was so annoying
Yes. Top 3 games of all time for me.
I would rather have the pros of both the original and the remake without any of the cons and than vastly improve upon that to make it have all horror all action and all campy potential at full potential
Resi 4 was on Gamecube 2005
PS2 2005 I own
Wii (2007) I own
PS3
PS4 I own
Xbox 360 i own

1:18 She looks neither angry nor terrified considering her outburst mere seconds earlier?
Along with full fun potential
Code Veronica needs a Remake!!!!
I am also am absolutist when it comes to survival horror lol
Resident Evil 4 was the first game I ever played when I was 18 years old. I'm a grandfather now, and I've been showing RE4 to my grandchildren every weekend since they were born. It is the greatest game of all time, and I love it more than my grandchildren.
Based
Youre a grandfather at 37 years old?
you're a grandfather at 36?? lol
It’s difficult to raise your own children at a young age especially if you’re not wealthy and have no support.
FYI, you’re not even considered an adult in most countries until you’re 18
