From New Line Cinema comes the explosive new cinematic adventure “Mortal Kombat,” inspired by the blockbuster video game franchise, which most recently enjoyed the most successful video game launch in its history, Mortal Kombat 11. The film is helmed by award-winning Australian commercial filmmaker Simon McQuoid, marking his feature directorial debut, and produced by James Wan (“The Conjuring” universe films, “Aquaman,”), Todd Garner (“Into the Storm,” “Tag”), McQuoid and E. Bennett Walsh (“Men in Black: International,” “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”).
In “Mortal Kombat,” MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage-or why Outworld's Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family's safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark. Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang, Kung Lao and rogue mercenary Kano, as he prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high stakes battle for the universe. But will Cole be pushed hard enough to unlock his arcana-the immense power from within his soul-in time to save not only his family, but to stop Outworld once and for all?

McQuoid directed from a screenplay by Greg Russo and Dave Callaham (“Wonder Woman 1984”), from a story by Oren Uziel (“Mortal Kombat: Rebirth”) and Russo, based on the videogame created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Victoria Palmeri, Michael Clear, Jeremy Stein and Larry Kasanoff served as executive producers.

Hiroyuki Sanada is simply awesome. He elevates the quality of the whole film every time he is on the screen. I always feel he does not get enough credit for how great an actor he is (think of Twilight Samurai, Wolverine, Wu-Ji, The Railway Man, 47 Ronin and on and on)
Dont forget that he was that Yakuza boss Hawkeye was fighting in Avengers Endgame

I love Hiroyuki Sanada. He is an amazing actor and I really REALLY hope they use him more than in just 15-20 minutes of the sequel. He deserves that and Scorpion was easily one of the best in this film. 💛
And while I also love how they focused more on his skills as opposed to his powers, I would like to see more fire as well. Just saying.

Just saw the movie, it was released today in the UAE. EPIC!!!! Thank you THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone involved. The franchise is finally in good hands. This was a gift to us fans and so much better than what we got before. Shoutout to the amazing cast, especially the surprises such as Kung Lao, he was amazing and what an intro; I got CHILLLLS!!

@@radek4634 As a standalone movie, yes it's far from perfect. But as a first in hopefully a trilogy, I see a lot of potential when it hopefully succeeds and they can have a bigger budget to play with. This movie obviously suffers from a less than optimal budget and I think they got it mostly right as it could've been muuuch worse if it was in the wrong hands. So ya, I stand by what I said, it's much better imo than previous efforts and while it has it's flaws (cole wasn't really a great idea) it's still an insanely fun movie and I know I'll be watching it over and over again.

I love Saibot and i really want to see him too, but honestly I think Joe Taslim is perfect as Sub-Zero he brought amazing energy to this character and I don't want another actor for Sub-Zero. But in the sequel Joe probably will become Saibot and they will choose someone else for Kuai Liang 😢

Either way, I’m excited about this.

I’ve always been a huge Kung Lao fan. I have a feeling Max Huang will do great. He sounds very passionate about this movie.

It was too good of a deal and probably a reason they had to delay the movie
If anyone got HBO Max when the Snyder Cut came out, they would of had a good deal with three big movies coming out, that’s probably why they delayed the MK movie to April 23
Interestingly, MK11 came out on April 23rd, 2019. I wonder if it is just a coincidence that the game and movie are being released on the same date or could something else be coming for the game.
I’m waiting about another week to make sure I can watch mk multiple times

@@salmaanzhang3001 same here, I signed up on the 19th so that I can get all three movies in one subscription but I guess HBO knew people would cancel their subscription after that so they delayed it one week so that we have to pay for another month
