The initial release, available in stores later this month, is Hidden Barn Small Batch, composed of just seven barrels distilled by Master Distiller Royce Neeley and expertly blended by Master Blender Jackie Zykan.
Together with their partners, Nate Winegar and Matt Dankner of Colorado’s 5280 Whiskey Society, Neeley and Zykan are embracing the spirit of “doing things the hard way” with their first series release - putting process and quality above all else.
Hidden Barn Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey’s first series is comprised of distillate produced at the Neeley Family Distillery. In the spirit of doing things the hard way, Master Distiller Royce Neeley touches every step of the process from grain to aging, personally hand-collecting wild Kentucky yeast, carefully monitoring a 5-day fermentation using traditional cypress fermenters, and personally distilling and hand-cutting the double pot distillation.
The Whiskey Made the Hard Way series was fermented using wild yeast and is double pot distilled. It was collected at 127 proof, and entered the barrel at 110 proof. The seven barrels represent some of the first lots to mature under the watchful eye of Neeley. To maintain the integrity and viscosity of the liquid, the bourbon is screened for sediment and sees no additional filtration.
Hidden Barn Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Batch #001 is presented at an undiluted batch proof of 53% ABV and offered at a suggested retail price of $74.99. The initial offering will be available in Kentucky, Colorado, Florida and California, with more distribution expected before the end of the year.

4 yr. old whiskey at 53% abv., are you sure the 'spice' isn't maybe a little ethanol burn? Hard pass at $75; too much good stuff out there for less. I wish them good luck though.
Being someone who loves butterscotch and really enjoys spirits of french lick, im interested. Ive had plenty of younger whiskies i enjoyed. Young doesnt bug me as long its done well and they are straightforward about it. Its a new company give them time.
watched it live and enjoyed the review. appreciate your palate cheers bud!🥃
I'm surprised they put out a release already. Great review Jason, appreciate your passion and research. Cheers 🇺🇸🥃
Awesome video - couldn't wait to watch this one. We'll be on the lookout for this whiskey!
Nice I’ll definitely keep an eye out for these releases. BTW That shirt is awesome. Probiotics is a must for anyone that enjoys alcohol 🤙Cheers man🥃
Sounds extremely interesting, I’ll have to wait a while I guess to see it in Va. Real solid review, thanks.
Thanks Jason..Anything Jackie has a influence in I'm going to try.....Cheers brother...
Just got a bottle of batch #2. Love it. Assertive, sweet, grainy and just damn good!
Man I can twin to try this. love your work Jason. Awesome channel.
Thank u for this review buddy. This is an exciting brand to follow to see what is to come as well.
Jason C- "that guy waving his hands around" 😆
Thanks for the review, love the channel. I'll look forward to trying this in three years since I'm in NC, 😆
Lol. Fair.
Great info about the bedonia; I had no clue. Thx!
Great review, love the proof point
Where can I get that shirt? Anyone know?
So in six weeks, do you believe she impacted the grain and yeast that led to a 4+ year whiskey? Her palate may have picked the several barrels that led to the small batch. Someone else deserves credit for grain selection and yeast.
Exactly. It’s a Neeley product. U can find those in a lot of places and for cheaper
Well she blended it. But neeley deserves the credit for curating the yeast and the distillation.
@@TheMashandDrum 💯
Yeah, you like Neeley products, you’ll love this
Great t-shirt!!! Where did you get it? Great review as always.

Great and honest review thanks Jason. Sounds good for it’s age but I’ll skip it.
75 bucks for a 4-5 yr whiskey? Yikes!
I mean blantons is that at a lower proof
Great story about the black barns.
I like that dark side of the Glencairn t-shirt!
Where can I get one?
Looks like several people have the same question.

Thanks for the link!🥃 Cheers
Love to hear from you Woodford master collection 2022!
Until Jason does his review you can go watch mine on my channel for the Woodford batch proof 2022
That shirt tho.
I'm confused, was Jackie involved in creating this batch? Whilst at OF?
is it officially out or just a press thing now?
It's out in the states I mentioned
I get pizza dough and cornbread mixed together on batch 2. As weird as it sounds I still like it
Cool shirt. Where did you get it?

I can get behind this
It's sold out at the distillery, so it was obviously very well-received. I tried their bourbon and rye.... they were both excellent.
Jason I hate you’re reviews brother you do such a great job that my wallet takes a Hugeee!!! Hit bro keep doing what you doing my friend 😂🥃❤️
Where can we get that t shirt?

@@TheMashandDrum Thanks. Ordered. Hope you get an affiliate fee. Thanks and keep up the great work.
I'm in ❤️
Same thing I said on Cams page. It’s a white labeled small batch Neeley family product. Got it. Can’t hate her for wanting to cash in on her name. Time will tell if she’s on Nancy level
I’ve got the single barrel if you’d like a sample to review. Let me know!
Man I should have kept my Jackie Zycan Old forester .Got it At Walmart!!😕
I am ALL IN on this. wild yeast strains? gimme that terroir!
Its not scary for her at all. She just married into the Brown family, so now she has the personal financial freedom to do something risky on her own. I think its awesome and I bet she helps turn this Hidden Barn into a real gem!
Boom. She’s no dummy. Married in that family for that freedom. It could become a Barrell in time. But she better start to REALLY blend and stop with these little small batch same family blends
Is it Jackie Zycan and “her team”….or is Jackie on the Neely Team? I think it’s the later. They were doing this well before her, to call it her team after a month just seems off.
Well let's put it this way...neeley family deserves the credit for the distillation and curating the yeast, cutting it and barreling it, Jackie Zykan blended it. So really it's Jackie and the neeleys
Appreciate the review, but young whiskey isn't worth the coin, no matter who "blended" it. Too much good stuff on the market to drink inferior whiskey. But, a lot of new drinkers will probably buy it because older age-stated stuff is damn near all allocated and unavailable to the casual drinker these days.
Young doesnt mean bad. It definitely matters who blended it
Was this purchased by yourself or were you given a media sample? If it was a media sample its kinda hard to take this review seriously. If it was anyone else it would have been reviewed more negatively, but cant bite the hand that feeds you.
This was a media sample. Like I said....I like it because it's different. But most folks would probably find this less appealing based on the grain forwardness. I'm always honest no matter where I get samples or bottles from. I've given plenty of negative reviews on free samples.
Half the reviews on youtube are media samples. If its good its good. Cam on drums and drams didnt have a media sample and he said all the same stuff jason did. Chill out
@@LeatherDaddy97 chill out? Opinions aren't welcome? It's a comment section that I'm pretty sure Jason is ok with people leaving their opinions. You seem to get upset with people if they have a differing view. Take a bit of your advice, and chill bro; enjoy the commentary.
@@pickleeater3102 he didnt give an opinion. He said "you gave it a good review solely so they will work with you" opinions are welcome, but dont be a dick. Theres enough of that in the world. Has nothing to do with differing views. Not to mention, what you said would apply to my comments as well
Sounds too young and weird for me. I will just buy another Calumet 16.
Mr Fancy
I want a bottle so bad
Awesome video. I love OF and have been a fan for five years ish. Can’t wait to see what they do next. But I’m so excited to try this brand, and single barrel picks when they come out. Thanks for the reviews!
Why you gotta talk about my aunt Bedonya?
I have one too!!! Lol
I have a feeling nobody will be able to get this unless you want to pay 350 for a bottle.
I don't care how well respected the Blender is.... but you can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit. Tater salad maybe. I'm not playing 75 bucks for a grainy 4-5 year old unproven liquor.
