Bikepacking the Anaxshat Passage (Summer 2023)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 жов 2024
- After being impassable due to closures from the 2020 Riverside fire, the key roads making this route possible reopened in 2023. Rob, Kwame, and I spent a weekend rediscovering the Anaxshat passage.
Thanks to Gabriel Amadeus for putting this route together.

I literally look for your new videos several times a week. It is like Christmas morning every time that you release one. You 2 are my favorite Bikepacking UA-camrs. Keep up the excellent work!!!
Hah, thank you so much Sean, really appreciate it. More videos coming soon!
I've missed your videos! Great to see you guys back in action. Hope there are more to come.
There definitely is!!! Thanks Corrine, hope you had an awesome summer in Alaska!!
@@pnwbikepacking I did! You guys need to get up here one of these summers!
Sick!! 🤙🏼🚵🏼 Man I’ve been missing you two!! Great video as always!!
Thanks Ken!
I’m glad you guys are back. UA-cam has been humorless without you.
Hah, thanks so much, Rob and I both appreciate the kind words and it makes me happy we can get a laugh out of people every now and then!
Crushed it. Another great episode. The bushwacking looked like fun/nightmare. It's always great to see you guys add another rider to the show. Keep up the good work.
Thanks dude! Yeah the bushwhacking was exactly that for me, a bit of fun, and a bit of a nightmare! Appreciate t he kind words!
Hey Chris, I watch virtually every significant bikepacking creator on UA-cam. I think you do the best job of storytelling, which is the most important part. I’m from Portland too and will have to do this ride once it’s cleaned up
There are some really good creators putting out quality bikepacking content, so this means a lot to me! I genuinely appreciate it! Hope we run into you sometime on a local bikepacking trip!
YAY. Happy to see ya'll didn't drop off the face of the Earth.
Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Cheers 🌞🚴♀️🖖
Thanks!! Yeah production has just been slow lately 😀. There are several more videos in queue!
wow an intact can of wine. thanks for showing the condition of CRT, hopefully it gets rescucitated sometime, I loved that little trail.
I know! Can you believe it! I was hanging out with Parker in the Grand Canyon a few weeks ago... and guess what... HE PUNCTURED HIS CAN OF WINE! Typical! Yeah the CRT is great, I heard they were doing some trail work on it... so maybe its in the process of getting resuscitated! When it does, ill go hit this route again!
Seeing a new upload this morning just made my whole week! Welcome back Chris! This was excellent... I always admire how Parker will suffer so well for our entertainment.
Also, the hardcut at 3:51 cracks me up so hard.
Woo! Thanks dude, yeah production slowed down a bit this summer... I was doing a lot of riding to prepare for the AZT but lost some of the motivation to make these videos... but, when I do make them, I love how the story comes together and I can relive watching Parker suffer!
Heading into the cold time of year... hope to see some more crazy cold fatbiking videos from you!
Another great one Chris and Parker! Love the riding and the natural humor of brothers giving each other grief. Cheers!
Thanks Doug! It's special when you can find friend like Parker!
@@pnwbikepacking , totally agree Chris. I have lifelong buddies that we give each other grief all day long on trips and laugh our rear ends off. Looking forward to you next videos.
Great to see you again fellows. Missed you
Thanks Scott!
You know! I have to say, it is a very small world, I have seen many examples of this in my life.
And I an occasionally get a golden opportunity to go short bicycle excursions in the pacific Northwest West. Which is where I live.
I hope to someday trip across you and travel companion.
You fellows seem like a couple genuine good guys.
Have fun!
Ellery.
14:33 is the stuff Northwest dreams are made of 😍
Totally agree! Single track along lakes with mountain views in perfect weather, it really doesn't get much better than that!
Love watching you guys adventure, laugh and beer! Best way to live life!
Thanks for watching!!
Best one yet boys...as.always I'm left breathless over the views and inspired to ride!!! Keep riding!!! Love the content
Love it when people get inspired to ride after watching a video! Thanks for watching!
Good to see you gents back on the bikes. Great fun and as always love Rob and your exchanges on the route.
Thank you as always!!!
Awesome video as always. Hoping that there's a bunch more coming from this summer :)
More to come!
I thought you'd gone forever Chris. Long time no see!
Hey Ed! I did a lot of bikepacking this summer, but not a very good job putting out videos! Hopefully I’ll get the next one out shortly! Thanks for continuing to watch!!
@pnwbikepacking glad you're still riding as much as before. Looking forward to more videos. Cheers
Totally awesome! Best yet. Thanks guys. Such a great pleasure to watch.
Thank you, that means a lot!!
We've missed you 😊
Thanks!! Hope to get the next 5 videos out much faster than this last one 🤣
Freakin me out Chris!! Kept searching your channel for new stuff so I watched the XWA 3 or 4 more times. Good to see you guys back! Thanks again for the amazing content. Keeps us inspired to adventure!
Hah Thanks Fred!
Man I missed you guys. Glad your back with another adventure
Thanks for watching Shayne!
Have been anxiously awaiting another video - thanks for making my Monday much better now.
Woo!!! Sorry it took so long!! Hope you enjoyed it!
Its talenme a bit to get online and watch, but I was excited when I got the notification of a new video. Now I get to watch!! Know its going to be great, even before watching. Thanks for sharing and taking us along for the ride.
Thanks for watching!!!
Welcome back guys! Looking forward to checking out this episode a little later on. Saw the upload and wanted to say "hey" hours before I actually watch it!
Thanks!!! Production got a little slow this summer, but I was doing a lot of bikepacking! Hope you enjoy the video!
Looks like great time!
It was! I even enjoyed the bushwacking 😁!
Man you all know how to have a good time. Glad to see you all back. 28 degrees here and headed out the door. Thanks for a great video and take care, Al
Thanks Al!!! Stay warm out there!
Awesome we where missing you guys so much. Glad Parker is preparing properly... you guys are awesome
Hah, thank you so much! More videos coming soon!
Thanks Chris!!
Thanks for watching David!
This looked like a sick trip!! I’m originally from Milwaukie, OR and loved watching y’all play in my old stomping grounds. Keep playing hard!!
Thanks! Hope to do this again in 2024 with a cleaned up Clackamas River Trail!
Y'all need to pack a saw. Thanks for the video, makes me homesick.
I was just wondering when I'd see another video from you guys! As usual it didn't disappoint! Looks like a great route, honestly I'll take some bushwhacking if there's fish, I don't mind at all. I bet the river is less pressured there if it's hard to reach. Should anyone do anything on a gravel bike though? ... Really? 😂
Hahahah. I agree with you about the bushwhacking, too bad I can never catch a !@#$ing fish! Also agree about the gravel bike... I love my hardtail so much!
This looks so fun, you are lucky to have friends like that.
I'd love to try all this but with ebikes. Either way seems like a blast.
Subbed...🍊🤙
Thank you!
@@pnwbikepacking no problem bud. I look forward to the next one. I have some Florida based riding content if you are interested..✌
I was starting to get anxious! Were you okay/alive!?
Your videos are always a highlight of my week! Thanks and keep up the amazing work!
Thank you!!! Rob and I were alive and well, just slowed down video production for a while! More videos coming soon!
More Kwame! You two are stealing the spotlight.
!!! More Kwame!!! Hoping we can get him out on another trip this winter!
Hey Chris!! So happy to see your video!! I am with everyone else.....we look forward to your videos and am super excited when you post new ones!! I have a question for you though.... I bikepack, bikeraft, hike, etc. and also am a (beginning) photographer. What system do you use? What is your go to lens? Do you shoot all your video with gopro or use the camera as well? Is there someplace to view your photos? OK I guess I had a few questions!! Anyway, nice job and looks like a great adventure! Tell Rob Hi from Dena and Ken at Highland Mountain Adventures and unlike my partner Ken, I do NOT enjoy seeing him suffer ;)!! Happy adventuring!
Hey Dena!! Thanks for continuing to watch our silly videos! ❤️ So 99% I take the following gear:
Primary Camera: Sony A7Siii
Lens: Sony 24-105 F4
Accessories: Extra Battery, Ulanzi Falcam Quick Release Backpack strap
Microphone: Rode VideoMicro ii
Tripod: Ulanzi Zero f38
Secondary Camera: Gopro 11
Tertiary Camera: Gopro 9
I only bring a third camera if going with Rob, then Rob takes one of them.
50% of the time I will carry a DJI Wireless Microphone (good for when Rob and I are sitting at camp talking)
5% of the time I take a Drone. (good for when I want to get frustrated, annoy other people, and waste time).
You'll notice that in almost every video I am carrying a backpack. That is because my preferred way to carry the Sony camera is on the shoulder strap with the quick release. If I carry it inside the backpack, it just is too much faffing with and I find I don't use it. There is a big weight penalty for carrying the big camera and a tripod, but for me it is worth it.
If I could ONLY take 1 camera, it would without a doubt be the Sony. It's a bit of a pig, but paired with the 24-105 lens, I have a lot of options to compose different shots at various focal lengths and play with depth of field. I also am able to take great quality pictures and video.
I don't really have a good spot to view photos... recently I have been lazy and haven't taken many pictures. I need to be more intentional about taking pictures 🙂.
Rob and I have been day dreaming of trips on Montana, hopefully in the next year or two we make it out your way and we'd love to connect! Hit me up a pnwbikepacking@gmail.com if you have anymore questions!

hey its my bud kwame!
What's up Kwame's buddy!!! We were stoked to have Kwame join us!
Nice one Chris and hopefully you didnt traumatize the new member of the team too much with your banter.
Yeah, we are an acquired taste 😁! I think he found it tolerable.
god so missed you guys where have you been ??????
Production slowed down a lot this summer, but I probably did more bikepacking this year than I ever have! I was trying to get into training mode for the Arizona Trail. I have a few more videos from the summer that I am working on! I'll try not to have that big of a lull again 😁
Great video! What are you guys running for tires?
I was probably running 2.4 Rekons in this video. That has has been my go to tire for a while! Rob was probably running specialized ground control in the front... not sure what in the rear. Not sure which tires Kwame was running.
Really? I'm the first view?
Gear and bicycle improvement suggestions;
1. Salsa anything cages mounted on your forks.
2. Carry folding wood cutting saws, cut that downfall out.
3. Change bicycle gearing to help the weak, poor and under muscled.
4. Lose the alcohol addiction, it damages the mind and body.
5. Obtain Salsa exp rubber anything straps for your gear securement needs.
6. Those Scary yellow jacket ground nests stories need effective reinforcement.
7.
Ellery, you always have the best comments. Thank you!
