Hi is the semi manual the transmission or just the gear box? I'm thinking of installing the rsx automatic gear box to my Honda civic automatic.
I have a 2005 acura rsx and I wish I knew how to drive the semi manual mode 😢
just go do it? lol
I had no CLUE the RSX had a feature like this for a manual mode. I might actually go with the RSX over the sport now, from a daily perspective.
I rather just have a semi manual cuz i can still be fast and cool while shifting and chill during auto
it’s slower than auto
No straight pipe no fun
do u just shift or need to release the gas and then shift or?
In 90% of shiftable automatic cars your not supposed to let of the gas when shifting and it can sometimes cause hard shifts or slow shifts if you do.
Not to be a dick but how do you not know you can shift into any gear in a manual
Doesn’t even know about his own car or really anything the engine in that car is meant to be in the revs😭
I mean when it’s your first car or two you wanna learn and stuff, you just don’t start life by knowing everything
This was dumb. Just buy a manual next time. The +/- on an automatic is meant for inclement weather and road conditions. It’s not meant to be driven like that all the time.
if you do it right now would it damage the car in any way though
wait im confused so what happens if i drive like with the manual option
@@anxi9675 don’t listen to that guy😭 you can drive with it in manual mode all you want. A car shouldn’t have 5 gears for you to choose from JUST for weather lol
It’s sequential sport shift mode, it’s literally made to be used the way he’s using it.
idiot, you’re thinking of the 2 gear tiptropic ones used for towing
What an amateur!! SMH 😂
This dude is shifting as if he’s heading down the quarter mile in a big block, calm down buddy😂😂
So how does my vtech keep messing up
It's probably the vtec pressure valve that needs to be replaced.
Your solenoid took a shit
VTEC don't kick in until like 7300 RPMs I could imagine holding this thing in every automatic gear until 8K RPM considering VTEC kicks in in at 7 300 RPM on this does that mean to hold it till 8K like isn't that the way it was design Factory did tune it to have the horsepower to kick in 7300 RPM that's very high so do another video holding it through the gears but see the automatic do some VTEC
@@hondakid9170 the base model rsx gets vtech at around 2200, its more of an "economy" engine (based off what I read, but my 02 type s is k24 swapped so idk.
@@hondakid9170 honestly if you were anywhere near me I'd offer a race (friendly race ofc) just to see how the k24 swapped type s does against an si
@@hondakid9170 thats what Im saying, just a friendly race for shits and giggles, also itd probably be closer than you think, Im still not perfect w manual
@@hondakid9170 02, picked it up a week ago, but only got to drive it the past 2 days
It doesn't fully engage until 4500 and the redline is at 6800.
What's the point of it..I don't understand the point of it when you have automatic as well
it gives you options. I personally like both and this is a nice example to have a mix of both especially if you're younger. my parents didnt want me to get a manual bc they were scared of the hills in our area so this give you a nice feeling.
There’s possible to install paddle shifters for it?
I gots a nice k24A swapped rsx, when I first got it I didn’t even know how to drive manual lmao.. & it was a base but the motor was basically cursed so I took the opportunity to spice it up. Best decision ever
I have a K20a in my 04 automatic. Im having a problem finding a proper ECU. I was told that there is no ECU available for a base model to read a type r engine. I was alos told the car would forever have issues because of the base with a K20a in it Which ECU did you buy and does yours have problems. Thanks in advance.
@@MrCurtwood I’m pretty sure you can use the ecu that you have if you send it in to get k pro installed. Im assuming you’re talking about an rsx. But I don’t remember if there’s a type r base map to upload but more likely there is. If you get better aftermarket mounts and the right map uploaded, etc I’m sure everything would be fine. Definitely need k pro
Hey what car u get that k24A engine from? Tsx? And hows that goin for u so far? Change the transmission as well? I have a 06 base automatic looking to do that same swap!
@@818valleroks same here
@@hondakid9170 it’s just passion/skill based. Just like anything else 🤷🏽♂️
Have enough air fresheners?
1:11 You can start in 2nd if you want in a manual. It's just not very practical. 3rd would technically be possible but again, why burn the clutch and go slow.
Depends on the car. I have a 2002 cavalier. 1st gear is designed for 1-5 mph or idling on hills. 2nd gear is very easy to start in. And 3rd is easy if you're on flat ground and can get the RPMS up.
@@masterv2041 Unless you’re stuck in snow or something, I still wouldn’t use 2nd gear because of the “lower torque” in starting gear. That car doesn’t have THAT much power, and 1st gear should be very manageable in those kinds of situations. And in no reason, should anyone be starting any kind of manual transmission vehicle off in 3rd gear. That’s unnecessary clutch wear and tear. I guarantee you that diesel trucks and high torque engine cars start off in 2nd, and they are totally fine. 3rd is just a no no.
How many gears in semi manual.? Is it 6 gears too.?
Automanual = win
Also = fun!
Moneyshifting is when you downshift into the wrong gear. Eg: if your in 3rd gear and you have to come to a stop on a 30 roll and you just downshift then that would be considered a “moneyshift” you can’t moneyshift in an automatic/CVT.
okay so i have a auto rsx and i use the manual mode sometimes and when i am approaching a light i am usually in 3rd gear around 35 mph is it okay if i down shift to 1st or is that “money shifting”? i want to know if i am damaging my trans
@@Jr-rr4sr same
CVT’s are trash your better off getting a manual rsx if you want to drive manual. It may be hard but it’s better than having to buy a new car or even swapping to a manual transmission.
Chris Carrera RSX’s were also sold with manual transmissions
@@hondakid9170 lol then how do I have a 05 rsx base with a 5 speed manual FROM FAXTORY
@@hondakid9170 my 02 RSX type s is a 6 speed (granted the type s only came in manual), the base model you could get a 5 speed manual.
@@hondakid9170 if I'm correct why did you say the base *only* came in manual lmao
@@hondakid9170 because OP said the RSX was a CVT, you were saying the RSX's are only offering traditional automatics, not CVT's. Everyone interpreted it as you saying the RSX is only available in Automatic and not manual lol.
I have the same car but everytime I go to move the gear selector over to this mode the car doesn’t do it and just stays in regular automatic mode. Anyone know how to fix this
make sure your cable Isn't seized on the little H fork under the gearbox, also check the gear position sensor behind the driver wheel (big black box) they can also cause the semi auto to stop working.
@@hondakid9170 I had it do it on mine. (seized up) also make sure the cable isn't stretched as mine did that also.
Get higher in the rpms to get a boost from VTEC
The k20a3 that the automatic, base rsx's have doesn't have the "power" type vtec. It's an economical version that engages at 2,200 rpm.
@@hondakid9170 But the only true "kick" sound that comes from the k20a3 is the sound of the stronger push rods ingaging I believe since the k20a3 has 2 lobe internals, not the traditional 3 lobe cams that practically every motor that has the "power" v tec that i talked about in my previous comment. Correct me if I'm wrong on the push rod sound.
@@hondakid9170 damn, for a 17 year old boy, im doing a bang up job paying attention to this stuff. Just shows my true passion for cars and the honda brand!!!
On my 02 type s I can only shift up to 4th gear at a dead stop. Locked out of 5th and 6th until I’m moving
I just bought an 02 and I can go into 5th/6th while at a stand still..
Nice man. Now time for me to go try it on mine! I have a 2005 RSX.
Thanks
Alright dumb question, I’m curious if you have to downshift, I’m sure you can downshift for engine braking when stoping without rev matching, but can you just go to a stop from 5th gear without downshifting? Also I’ve seen a lot of hate on the autos, I’m buying a 2005 base model auto rsx and I was wondering if you would recommend the car/ if you can get good power. Also one last think I swear, at 80k miles are there any services relating to the auto that you would recommend, like new auto tranny fluid
Chris Carrera Thanks a lot for the reply! I wish I could have found a type s or a manual but unfortunately where I live in Florida I couldn’t find anything, though I plan to work on this car a lot and I have a bunch of modifications I’d like to do to the suspension alone so hopefully at some point I can start working on a k24 swap to manual!
@@StinkygooberTM i would suggest doing one thing at a time, im manual swapping my acura rsx-s right now and its costing me a shit tonne of money and a lot of time not driving
I’ll sell you my 2006 rsx automatic 45xxx miles if your still on the market
Late to this but hope you're enjoying the car regardless of auto or manual. Yes autos get a lot of hate but it still can be fun to drive. For me, it's my daily so auto is more for practicality but when I feel playful with the car, the semi-manual is still fun.
@@StinkygooberTM how's the swap going? I just picked up a k24 swap type s and I love it.
A manual you can be in any gear you want. It's all mechanical. There's a reverse lockout on 6 speeds.
Anthony Gentili how you do that ?
How would you do that ?
If you ride the clutch enough in a manual dont matter what gear I lost all gears beside 4th at once drove it home 5 miles in traffic
If you ride the clutch. You wear the clutch not your gears
Amazing 😉 video !!
Gracias Tio!!
Wouu that is amazing vídeo!! Congratulations Son !👋🏻🙏
