  • Please check description for rules & credits!
    List is based on the following:
    -Refined mostly to protagonist ships
    -Refined to ships based on movies and shows (no video games)
    -Focuses on ships which were used in main plots
    -Speeds are only estimates and are by no means definitive of actual speeds
    -Does not include outside forces or modifications (this includes omnipotent beings, trans-warp conduits etc..)
    -Assumes physics & distances which are the same as our own universe
    -Gives maximum speed possible based on assumptions and estimates
    -Fastest (for this video) means from Point A to Point B.

    What about the star drive in the city of Atlantis (Stargate Atlantis) that transported the city/ship from the Pegasus galaxy to Earth instantaneously? THAT has got to be up on the list!

    • @gatebuffles
      @gatebuffles 7 років тому +4

      +Scott Westergren it wasnt instantaneously. they did use a wormhole drive in the last episode butnit was experiemental dangerous and power consuming. although if we were to list the ships with th strongest sheilds I would have to say Atlantis or other city ships would be near the top.

    • @commandershepard2490
      @commandershepard2490 7 років тому +2

      Ye but i'd say he is right! As you can see Tardis is at P1. That means the criterics to be high in the list are to be a spacevehicle and to make far distances in short time. So, Atlantis used a wormhole engine for the "jump"....how could it not be in the list? Not at the top but faster than thors ship.

    • @tesstickle7267

      Im surprised the Daedalus from Stargate also didn't make the list, as in terms of speed it outclasses everything in star trek and star wars. Same with the other Tauri ships that got fitted with Asgard tech. Really a lot of this list could just be stargate,

  • @StormsparkPegasus
    @StormsparkPegasus 7 років тому +8

    Very slight error on the Asgard ship from Stargate. "Thor's Chariot" was the name of the episode in which the ship was first shown, not the name of the ship itself. The ship's name was the Beliskner. It was also an older class of Asgard ship. There was a newer class, however the point of the new class was not to be faster, but to have more powerful weapons/shields, so it would probably still be at the same spot on the list.

  • @DangerousFat
    @DangerousFat 7 років тому +3

    The Delta Flyer from Star Trek Voyager attained infinite velocity, which means that it occupied all points in the entire universe simultaneously. Pretty sure nothing on the list is faster than that.

  • @Naekuh

    Stargate Atlantis city ship had a wormhole drive which could do galaxies in a single second at the end of the season. So id consider Atlantis in the top 3.

    I've seen a fan theory that said that the Kessel Run slingshots around a black hole, so "making it in 12 parsecs" would mean how close you got to the black hole.The faster the ship the closer you can get without being sucked in.

      Just An Everyday UA-camr Actually the way hyperspace works in Starwars is that solid objects in real space cast "mass shadows" into hyperspace that pull ships back into real space. That's why hyperspace can't go through nebulas and asteroid fields even though ships can go through those just fine in normal space. (They explain this in the Clone Wars show) It's also why you need to plot hyperspace jumps so that you don't go through any solid objects.

    Just to be a nerdy Mr. Picky; the Guild Highliners don't "move". They "fold space". This allows them to exist at more than one place at once. They then chose which location to collapse into. It's a similar (if less tongue in cheek) concept to the Heart Of Gold's "Infinite Improbability" drive.

The ship is able to travel the 900 Parsec between the Earth of 3000 and the border of the earth imperial system in 2 weeks. this are 3000 light years, which means it has an operational speed of 76250 C ;) And when they get an Alpha Order and make an alert start, they can be even faster :D

  • @mackenziebeeney3764

    USS Prometheus could go Warp 9.99, which is 7,913 c, not 43,000.
    43,000 would be like Warp 9.999, which is (effectively) impossible for a ship to go due to engine limitations and power requirements.
    Fitting TARDIS is first, it could be anywhere in the universe anytime, even before it left. Ultimate speed lol

    • @Tech_Planet
      @Tech_Planet  7 років тому +1

      Perhaps the TNG calculator I used was wrong :/ I wanted to stick to federation (& protagonist ships) but Borg definitely had some of the fastest drives. Heh, the TARDIS always wins. Thanks for the comment!

    • @ellesmerewildwood4858
      @ellesmerewildwood4858 7 років тому +2

      I don't remember where I read it or heard it but it was explained that warp 10 was unattainable because it was so fast you would be everywhere in the universe at the same time, so paradoxically, you would be unable to move because anywhere you wanted to go you would already be there.
      Or, at least it went something like that. I'm sure I'll be corrected. :o)

    • @mackenziebeeney3764
      @mackenziebeeney3764 7 років тому

      yeah, though you could get to warp 9.99999999999999999999999999999
      though a shuttle was able to navigate at warp 10, thought that required a hyper--evolved human/lizard person

    • @WakenerOne
      @WakenerOne 7 років тому

      It depends on when in Trek lore you look. When I was a kid, the Warp Factor cubed x c was how fast you were going. Then at some point Gene Roddenberry stepped in and said that nothing could exceed Warp 10--despite the fact that there were episodes of TOS which explicitly stated otherwise. So everything about warp speed got retconned.

    • @jordanbrancato7026
      @jordanbrancato7026 7 років тому +1

      Mackenzie Beeney going warp ten isn't impossible. also if someone were to look at Mr. Scotts transwarp drive and figure out what him did to it to make it not work we wouldn't need warp drive.

  • @watcherzero5256
    @watcherzero5256 7 років тому

    The thing people never seem to get with the Millenium Falcon is that because of the way Hyperspeed works in that universe where you have to make multiple jumps sometimes tangentially to get around massive objects or Nebula because you cant pass through them then distance, the parsec, becomes very important. Its not really how fast you travel but the shortest (and most dangerous) route you can take which might involve flying dangerously close to something or making a course correction far away from a star system/shipping lane where you might be stranded without any hope of rescue if your engine failed.

    SO in regards to the Kessel Run stuff, the run wasn't measured by distance traveled in Hyperspace. It was measured by its travel in normal space. The falcon's computer was complex and fast enough that it only needed to remain in normal space for a total of 12 parsecs of travel before jumping into the next leg of its journey. here's the link for it:
    starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kessel_Run

    Asgard hyperdrives were capable of insane speeds - but drawback was that beyond certain speeds it would in some time fry the field emmiters or the hyperdrive itself.
    their regular safe cruise speed was like 48 hours between Milky Way and Pegasus... (Daedalus could make it in same with ZPM attached)
    their flank speed when ALL energy 4 reactors produce is dumped to hyperdrive can send ships to make the journey in roughly 30 minutes. (From Thors chariot - and estimated offscreen time)

  • @devastated_studios

    I love it when Star Wars fans try to reinvent the wheel. In all three of the original trilogy they referred to the Falcon making the "jump to light speed". Solo also says "She'll make .5 past light speed." clearly this was not some great algorithm. This was George Lucas not doing his home work as the so called, "fastest ship in the Galaxy", would take four hours to get to Pluto from Earth. Star Wars fans like to go back and retroactively explain the many Lucas missteps in defense of the property, the fact is, Lucas didn't care about accuracy or science, he was making a fantasy.

    The UEN (United Earth Navy) Yamato (Space Battleship Yamato series). Utilizing the "Wave Motion Engine" the Yamato could "Warp Space;" essentially "Punching a hole" in the normal space/time continuum, creating its own wormhole. This allowed it to instantaneously traveling thousands of lightyears at a time. This allowed the Yamato and her crew to travel to the Greater Megellanic Cloud, over 21,000 light years away and back in less than 12 standard Earth months.

      Whether it did or not, the fact is that it went between multiple galaxies in a relatively short time frame. Meanwhile, any Federation ship (like the Prometheus) were on multi-year voyages to even cross one galaxy, such as Voyager who originally looked at a 70 year trip to get home. Andromeda would have done that between breakfast and lunch.

    Great compilation and great speed "facts". Millennium Falcon must have been able to travel way faster than zero point five past light speed because at the end of Empire we see the rebel fleet well outside of their home galaxy. When the Falcon detaches from the hospital ship she banks and heads towards the galaxy.
    Now I'm no astrophysicist but if one were far enough away to see one's galaxy one would have to be hundreds of thousands of light years out. Not only to travel outside of the galaxy to that point but then to travel back into it you'd have to be going pretty darn fast.
    Anyway mate, great video and I appreciate the amount of time that must have been needed for research.

    • @patricktaylor9939
      @patricktaylor9939 7 років тому +3

      Borg space is located in the delta quadrant and if they went back in time the Borg were very old yet they Thought like humans, no one really know when they went to a hive mind.
      Anyway with them (Borg) being primal they wouldn't have gotten the resources in time, I think, fyi I'm going off my own theory none of this is set in stone.
      Okay so now you also have to look at it from a military view, by taking earth they would have been in the beta quadrant. So now we have borg in Delta and Beta making it impossible to flee from them.
      Think of it like a pincer maneuver or Flanking maneuver. Whatever you want to call it.
      So by seeing that we can come up with a this theory: Yes go into time when they were young and slowly gain territory OR gain territory through a two prong attack which would be quicker.
      Again my theory not set in stone.

      Re: Space Battleship Yamato, the distance to/from the Sanza system in the LMC was given as 296 kly. The majority of those 11 months was spent getting nav fixes, sometimes fighting, and reparing the ship after fighting.
      Yamato's earlier warps were shorter and more frequent because the Earthlings were inexperienced wirh their brand-new alien tech and thus cautious. By the time of The New Voyage, Yamato could get directly to Iscandar within minutes... with Iscandar having moved from its normal region of space, so there was an unknown nav-fixing delay added.

    Yeah agree that the Raza from Dark Matter can essentially open a door to a different place, time, dimension, etc. But I think that this class of travel is essentially a tie for first place--Tardis and Raza. Tardis has the cool factor with form and function. Cool that the inside is actually a different dimension. and obviously is a super-cool interior. Better to visit Earth and pretty invulnerable. Raza's advantage is that it is an actual space ship.

    You forgot a ship in this list of TOP 10 FASTEST SCI-FI Spaceships video. I'm surprised that you didn't put Atlantis (Stargate) City-Ship as number 1 because you forgot about the Wormhole drive which allows Atlantis to travel between galaxies instantly. Infact, I would imagine that Atlantis could travel at virtually any distance (other side of Universe) if it was being powered by thousands of ZPM's or an Arcturus Reactor. It was in the experimental stage but Dr Zelenka managed to iron out the flaws at the end of the show which enabled Atlantis to pretty much 'teleport' via wormholes to other galaxies instantly (Pegasus to Milky Way).

    As much as I love that you put my favorite Star Trek ship on here. The Star Trek warp drive does not move the ship. It moves space around the ship. The ship stays still while going through warp. He also left out that there was a ship in the Star Trek universe that did hit warp 10, was only for a moment and wasn't the most stable or safest but it did and at warp 10 as I recall a moment is more than enough to reach anywhere in the universe. This ship was in an episode of Voyager, wish I could remember which one.
      But I don't believe he was counting the ships speed as much as he was counting how long the ship would take to get from point A to B. He includes several ships that use means that technically aren't the ships moving at said speed but the ship using methods to get from one point to another, like the White Star using hyper space, the ship moves no faster than if it was in normal space but in hyper space the distance is basically shortened making its travel much faster.

      JD Rock it wasn't 120 seconds it was an hour for them to get from earth to the Ida galaxy if it was 120 seconds they wouldn't have been able to eat the melting ice cream , like I said you have mistaken the time by quite a bit though I don't know where you are getting it from -perhaps from where it was said cross the galaxy in minutes ( I forget which episode ).
      Oh you might be thinking of when they blew up the sun to kill Apophis which was 4 million light years in a few seconds ( screen time) but was never stated if it was seconds or minutes so in that regard it would be correct , but not an Asgard ship since it was a goa,uld, Ha,tak,
      The only reason I know the speeds of the ships is we discussed this in length on the old star gate mmorpg forums
      Same with the Hammond when it beamed Eli to travel 20 light years would have taken less than a minute but Eli was able to watch hours of Daniel Jackson videos on the stargate, or as we like to call it -Speed of the plot .

    • @Oreoclan

      While the time he measured is indeed wrong, Thor's Biliskner class ship travels faster when it ISN'T towing another ship. Also, O'Niell and Daniel Jackson class ships are much faster than Biliskner class ships (as the former was developed to fight the Replicators and the later was designed after). Even when towing a ship, it could go about 1 million lightyears per hour.
      Though, likely the fastest ship in this universe is Atlantis. It can travel vast distances almost instantly using the Wormhole Drive. The only problem is the massive amount of energy needed to use it (and the super complex calculations). If you're looking for cruise speeds though, it's likely either an O'Niell class or an Ori Mothership.
      But, at one point, the Asgard delivered alternate universe Carter from Ida to Earth in about 30 minutes (no longer than an hour) with a Biliskner class ship. That puts them at about 73 billion times the speed of light.
      Moral of the story, Asgard have busted hyperdrives.

  • @greggg4011
    @greggg4011 7 років тому

    Being a Whovian since I was 5, I hate to say this, but the Heart of Glory is faster.
    The infinite probability drive takes about 3 seconds to initiate and about 3 seconds to arrive.
    In normal space the ship has a hyperdrive so fast that within seconds, the Heart of Glory and Vogon fleets traveled from Viltvodle to Vogsphere almost instantaneously.
    The TARDIS takes about 8 seconds to de-materialize to do it's anywhere in the universe transport...and for the first 3 seconds you can jump on it and hang on.
    When traveling in normal space, something I wasn't aware of till David Tennant (I still haven't seen the Patrick Troughtman episode establishing this), it pulled the Earth back from the Medusa Cascade to Sol in what seemed like a minute.
    Sorry Doctor. So long and thanks for all the Fish.
    All of this assumes the movie represents the cannon of the book. I've been meaning to read it and never got around to it.
    PS, Han claimed to have traveled from one side of the galaxy to the other. We can assume he did it in less than the previous 10 years because non cannon sources had him as an imperial officer who broke ranks to save Chewy. This would imply it is faster than Star Trek using Voyager as cannon. However, I just got a mind blowing eye opener error in Trek. Voyager was 75 years at warp 9 away from Earth in the Delta Quadrant...how does that work if Enterprise A traveled from Earth, to the planet of galactic peace, and then to the center of the galaxy, a distance 1/3 the amount Voyager needed to travel, at the lower warp scale w=ef^3, all in a few hours?
