Kind of unrelated. The Star Trek Online game has an Enterprise F at 1000m or 3,280ft.
Theres the ridiculous size of Voth Fortress ships
I don't know shit about Star Trek.
put them nest to an eldar craftworld and see who is bigger!
Me: "I'm not a Star Trek nerd."
Me: Stops the video to examine every diagram of the ships.
Star Trek: Convincing semi-fictional science
Star Wars: No science at all
Star wars science is valid.. The society is 1000s of years more advanced than startrek. Hyper drivers travel inside subspace is plausible.
@@gordendavis3585 meh..Star Wars tech has sidearms that fire death rays, except the bolts fired from these ray guns are so slow that most people can dodge them easily, even casually. Also, they seem to have an internal program that makes them hit nowhere near where they are aimed. Come on, how advanced can Star Wars tech be if their weapons are less useful than a gun-powder revolver? Also, they build moon-sized, planet destroying space stations, and they they put some kind of weird ignition point right near the surface, where one stray bolt of energy hits it, and..kaboom! the entire death star blows up. Star Trek tech was designed for adult audiences. The science is not real, but always plausible. Star Wars tech was aimed at guys the age of Annakin when we first meet him. Impressive as hell if you're about 6, but stupid to think about as an adult.

Star Wars... a long long time ago, yet somehow, in the future.
"Voyager has the ability to land on the surface of a planet, which sets it apart from other Federation ships"
Enterprise D - "Hold my beer"
Just had a flashback in my head ,😂
It's a bit generous to call that "landing."
Without sounding like a traitor to the Enterprise. I LOVE Voyager!!!
I mean, it did "land" sooooooo.
Same with the Vengeance and JJEnterprise? 😂
Federation: we don't build battle ships
Borg: we are the Borg, surrende-
Federation: BUILD BATTLESHIPS NOW!!
The New Jersey was a dreadnought. The Borg toasted her.
To be fair even then their ships maintain a multipurpose role. Yes they are as heavily armed as they can get but they still carry science's labs and such.
And of course with the borg you either give it all you have or die in an instant.
But definately still don't call them battleships... Then it's not as bad.
Another example of battleship: USS Vengeance
Not so much the Federation arguing for battleships as it was Sisko and no one argues with Sisko and lives so he got his battleship and since he designed it of course it was made to bitchslap anything that got in his way.
USS Voyager could theoretically land squarely in a small park that's near my appartment. I could have a Federation ship in my own neighbourhood!
Do you so happen to live in L.A.? If you do according to "Future's End" Voyager supposedly did at least do a flyby of your house back in the 90s.
@Dominic Ankai your house must be massive
Theoretically, sure I got you, wink wink nod say no more....

The Defiant class wasn't the only warship, just the only warship pre-Dominion War, During and after the Dominion War there were many warships designed and produced. Some examples are: Akira class, Sovereign class, Prometheus Class, and more. The Prometheus class was so powerful that in a Voyager episode (I don't remember which one) the Romulans captured it while it was on a testing cruise. It had a skeleton crew, otherwise they couldn't have captured it, but if the Romulans, who had very powerful warships anyway, wanted it's tech and firepower, then they know it was powerful. In order to capture and escort it back to Romulan space, they sent three D'deridex class warships, which are powerful enough to 1v1 a Galaxy class, and made Picard try and avoid confrontation at all costs with them in Next Generation (mostly). To recapture the Prometheus, Starfleet sent two Defiant class vessels and one Akira. Keep in mind that this is in the middle of the Dominion war, so Starfleet wouldn't send three of their most powerful ships to take it back unless it were important and very dangerous. One thing that made the Prometheus so powerful was that it had state of the art torpedoes, phasers, shielding, and could split itself into 3 pieces that could work together and each had significant firepower on their own. They were each basically a mini deployable warship. Sorry about the rambling, but I'm just trying to prove that Starfleet had more than one kind of warship.
Star Trek is my first love, so I appreciated this vid. Also love Star Wars, so I'm onboard with your channel. Thanks!
Missing ones:
USS reliant
USS excelsior
NX 01 Enterprise
For non federation lists:
Klingon/romulan ships
Dominion/cardassian/breen ships
Borg ships
Star Wars is making Star Trek how awesome is that!!!
Flathead Gg244 the reliant is in there
The Nova Class ships are missing. For example the USS Equinox or the retrofitted model USS Rhode Island. Incredible ship that could be considered a successor to the Defiant class ship if they were to be fitted as one. (Approximately same size, but faster)
For a star wars channel your trek videos are entertaining and engaging. Really nice job. If have no interest in star wars but love these videos. Some of the best trek videos about :)
How dare you, the original Enterprise is a beauty. She is a master class in ship design, that thing is beautiful from every angle.
thereign it's only a liked design because it's iconic.
@@devmin_dot_exe6551 Nope, It's just beautiful, the Enterprise D is iconic too, and it's not a beautiful ship.
It's a bit of an ugly goose. Too elementary in its geometry without any compound curves. But amazing for the time and for all time now.
You tell 'em, thereign. The original Connie is the best looking starship in the entire franchise, viewed from any angle. All of the others are variations and copies, some looking pretty decent, but not one of the remakes and variations all look good from any angle. In fact, some of them from certain angles look butt-ugly. That's not just my opinion, but I'm sticking by it.
Nah, I have to go with the refit from the TOS movies.
The JJ-Prise, however is the WORST. There isn't a single angle from which that monstrosity looks good.
Do the borg vessels (spheres, unimatrix one, cube, probes and pyramids).
and Voth Fortress ships
IIRC the cubes are 1 km squared per side. So for comparison, its not as long as a Imperial class SD but much more massive.
Plasmacore V The cubes are 13*13*13Km.
ah we're both wrong. They're 3040m x 3040m x 3040 m.
Clearly we need a video on this! It gets my vote! I'd like to see some of the other species ships too, Klingon etc & the aerodynamics of some of them, especially the Borg cubes!
Only a sith deals in absolutes!!
Wait isn't that an absolute?
UltraBrick studios finally someone who agrees
It all about midichlorians, ya?
no, it's a logic paradox!
I keep asking that myself
UltraBrick studios Yea, just like when an evolutionist says to me, "There are no absolutes, so I can believe what I want and you can believe what you want."
Well done. I enjoyed geeking out on this video, been a Star Trek fan since the sixties!
who needs battleships when your science exploration vessels have enough firepower to level a planet? it's like taking GreenPeace's Rainbow Warrior and giving it 5-inch 62-caliber Mk 45 cannons and some nuclear torpedos...
And they still get messed up by smaller more primitive ships.
It depends. Before the Dominion war, Starfleet's vessels couldn't compete with Dominion or Borg vessels, and sometimes even smaller, more primitive vessels.
I think as much as they could orbital bomb a planet they had a prime directive and guessing would not look good on the federation being conqourers lol
having star trek and star wars aspects together made me laugh xD.
Wesley Currier this is why they should be kept away from each other!

"These go to 11" Love it! Thank you for an informative video, ready for part II.
I liked this video. I gave a great size comparison to real things we see. Great job.
The Enterprise E is also a warship, built for the same reason as the Defiant: Borg and the Dominion.
midgetydeath But it was firstly build to face the Borg. That was the main idea of it.
Sovereign Class was first "true battleship" dedicated to combat Borg.
Defiant, Akira, Steamrunner, etc (to name just few) were attack frigs and fire support.
@@61881N5
If we want to be even more technical I'd call the E a fast battleship. As yes it's combat ready but it's also pretty fast depending on which statistic for its warp you go for.
USS Entreprise with her Disc front & twin exotic energy engine pods trailing on her rear , is one of the iconic ship in the SciFi movie genre ... May All Be Well & Prosper! 🖖♥️🌷🕯

Jaycewan Thomas I have the mind to like star Trex but I found it boring after 30 episodes

because the Enterprise is 90% weak points and looks stupid.
Seriously though, they may be both sci fi, but they are vastly diffrent genres. The whole writing philosophy is diffrent.
"Enterprise is 90% weak points "
Except she isn't. If you bothered to investigate, you'd know that along with the why the designs are a certain way.
Plus, people that live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks.
"looks stupid."
Or you can't appreciate a good design when the hull isn't covered in greebles.
"Seriously though, they may be both sci fi, but they are vastly diffrent genres. The whole writing philosophy is different."
I can only partially agree with that. Star Wars isn't science fiction, it's science fantasy.
Both really cool and really nerdy. I like it.
Great work-play. Thanks.
Note: The Olympic class hospital ship derived from one of the original Enterprise concepts. Its now much later appearance as hospital ship can be appreciated as a tribute to the concept work of the early '60's. :)
Then in the mirror universe, the I.S.S. Enterprise is the most evil ship in the fleet. No one compares to it.
According to a few sources, warp 8 is around 1000 times the speed of light. That ship goes 3 times that fast. So it gives something like that :
1000 time the speed of light = Warp 8
3000 time the speed of light = Warp 9.90
8500 time the speed of light = Warp 9.99
Save yourself the trouble there are Cochranes for each warp factor which allows measuring of how fast a ship is moving.
Kaynos I always assumed that warp speed correlated with light speed. Like warp 6 was 6 x the speed of light.
@@8698gil it's an exponential scale.
unknown user I didn’t say I was right. I happen to suck at math and anything technical. Just showing my ignorance.
@@8698gil I may be wrong, but I think warp 1 is equivalent to lightspeed. But from there its an exponential scale as stated above. It wouldn't make much sense for warp 5 be lightspeed x5. Think about it. Vulcan is 16 lightyears away. That mean light has to travel for 16 years to reach that far. With warp 5 it would still take 8 years... And Vulcan is in the neighbourhood.

Staw Waz - lol. Cool video, thanks so much for posting this. Good job.
The Federation "Prometheus" from Voyager was pretty awesome. A lot of Federation ships that didn't get much attention but pulled cameos in the series, and were pretty awesome.
if you know the story of the real USS enterprise (CVN-6), you'll be surpriseed to find out it's much more awesome than that of the movies. She's the most decorated ship of the US navy.
Heaven's Shepherd
Yes, it was full of bloodshed! The Lucky E, one moment you're the last carrier in the Pacific, the next moment you're being replaced and scrapped.
MiguelPmpM it's not her fate that made her a legend, it was what she had accomplished, like you said, she once had became the last carrier in the Pacific theater, but has keep the US Pacific Fleet afloat for months. She became the greatest threat to the Japanese Army and Fleet despite having very serious damages, her amazing crew has kept her surviving that she was dubbed the "Grey Ghost". It was Enterprise vs the Empire of Japan. It was sad though that the US navy had to scrap her.... 😢😢😢😢
Yeah, for a couple months the Pacific fleet was down to just one carrier, the Enterprise after losing 4 carriers (Lexington, Yorktown, Wasp and Hornet) and the USS Langley (kind of a carrier) in the first 11 months of the war. I think the Essex entered the Pacific in January or February of 1943. So at the beginning of 1943 it was just the Grey Ghost. But by August of 1945 there were 97 carriers in the Pacific fleet if you count the escort and light carriers. And that doesn't include the Brits or the Australians who had a sizable fleet of carriers as well!
20 of the US carriers were fleet carriers and 77 were light or escort carriers. The US had 725 destroyers... Amazing!
And don't forget CVN-63 and the planned supercarrier that hasn't yet been built that both share its name!
recently bought 1/350th merit kit of enterprise CV-6 to go with Tamiya's enterprise CVN-65 kit and polar lights TOS enterprise and Refit enterprise all in 1/350th. TOS enterprise is 34 inches long Refit is 36 inches long carrier CVN-65 is 38 inches long and WWII Yorktown class enterprise is about 27 inches long.
USS Prometheus is in my opinion the most bad ass ship. About the size of an intrepid but could split into multi vector assault mode splinting into 3 separate vessels that could all attack at the same time.
and the best part is after it accidentally did so, one more word & then there was no more need for any tactical input from 2 clueless holograms who couldn't even figure out how to use thrusters or impulse drive! Can't steer the ship or turn on coms but they can defeat an entire enemy fleet!
The Prometheus was an impressive vessel, but it was still a prototype. And it also had some pretty pathetic shields. One shot from a D'Eridex lowered it 20%.
What happens if one of the vector piece of it is damaged?
Remember how Enterprise-D could split? Remember how they stopped doing it because it made absolutely no goddamn sense?
In reality, especially with a ship as large as the heavy cruisers, you have support craft. Fighters, supply vessels, runabouts like shuttles, etc. That's how you "multi vector" assault.
Or just run with 3 Defiant-class escorts.
Awesome video. One tiny ting you forgot. The Prometheus and nebula classes. They both have a large presence in Star Trek (especially the Nebula class)
fascinating, stumbled on this by accident , got yourself a sub
You forgot the Excelsior and Miranda-classes. Both workhorse starships that still saw extensive use in the 24th century despite being nearly a century old.

5:04 "You know what else is approximately that size~"
With that tone I was expecting a dirty euphemism, but the actual reference was probably even funnier xD
Now, consider these sizes and volumes of the ships' hulls and compare them to their crew complements. You'll find star ships are very sparsely populated for their size and available floor-space, even with exceptionally generous crew quarters taken into account.
You guys should do the Star Wars invasion of the Star Trek universe.
For example
Federation, Borg, Klingon or alll vs Empire, Republic, or Separatists or alll.
Also would like to add in Andromeda, loaded with Nova Bombs and their nemesis the Mhgog and their world ship...just including everybody
Who wouldn't shell out 20 bucks to see Vader single-handedly take out an entire Borg cube armed with nothing but his lightsaber? Just imagine the deep cyborg-vs-cyborg subtext! I'm in!
the United Federation of Planets would probably first try to discuss peaceful relations, until they are attacked, the Federation would win the war because they have photon torpedoes, transphasic torpedoes (maybe, 1 can destroy a Borg Cube), and phasers, which are more powerful than blasters (comparing hand phasers to blasters), and a greater quantity of vessels.
and transporters....just beam a torpedo onto the enemy ship ...since they can't get rid of it ....bye bye

I like both Star Trek (for the science fiction) and Star Wars (for the science fantasy), they are both good universes. I don't like the reboot (JJ Abrams) of Star Trek or the 3 prequels of Star Wars. The ships and tech of both, are just as good as one and other.
I like both franchises as well, and it is kinda funny. I'm not a fan of the JJ Trek because I felt like it went too deeply into Science fantasy, and the SW prequels dipped a little more into Science fiction (midichlorians).
ggsimmonds1 - Liking both and not liking JJ Trek is quite common among my peer group. Midichlorians, what a plot bodge that is! It makes the Force seem other than super natural, if you know what I mean.
I'm big on both universes as well. I did like the SW prequels though, but not TFA because it is a blatant remake of the original ANH. JJTrek is good sci fi ... but it's terrible Trek. If you're able to watch it and ignore everything Trek about it, it's somewhat entertaining (until you get to the part about a black hole being a means of A) Time Travel, B) Faster than warp travel, *and* C) a massive destructive force all in one.)
Comparing the ships technical specifications. Star Trek had better computing power, holodecks, sensors, shields, weapons guidance. Star Wars had droids & faster ships.
AvangionQ Where did you get shields from? I don’t see any real superiority considering that those things go down from so much as getting hit with a rock.
Star Wars also has superior medical tech. Look up bacta.

You spelled techno babble wrong.
Zach Jones wow
So true. I love Star Wars for the lore and whole "galactic civil war" plot, but I loved Star Trek first and will always love it just a bit more. The serie's plot is further explained because it is a show lasting for years, character's development is apparent rather than just mysteriously thrown at you through the new movie (like star wars), and the technology is explainable through present day theory. The only thing that I dont like is the serious lack of realistic violence and how it portrays everything as being jolly when in reality things like the holocaust the Cardassians bring about in DS9 would be very dark and subversive.
No it doesn't. Let me know when the Federation can build a moon sized space station that can fly from one side of the Galaxy to the other within a few days and then convert a planet into an expanding asteroid field. Hell, even a fringe organization (First Order) can build what's basically a Dyson Sphere; you know the thing that Picard and company were in utter awe over the sight of?

Originating from the borg threat response program like the defiant, came the Norway, Akira, Sabre, Yeager and Steamrunner classes, and I think the Defiant had a bigger brother too. They were manufactured after the outbreak of the Dominion war, as they gradually phased out their older and more peaceful starships.
