Not entirely certain where this stupid narrative came that she somehow gotten fifth place, but Riley Gaines was one of the best female swimmers in the nation. She lost the championship to a man, you don’t do that coming in fifth.
@@JoshuaKirtley In some competitions, yes. The national championship race in which she tied with the MAN who goes by the name Lia, did give a trophy for 5th. Although they tied, the NCAA official said "Lia" would get to have the trophy. Riley however has numerous other ones for winning events and still holds an SEC record in one event. Your weak attempt at an insult isn't actually an insult.
@@jonathanshumpert9549 actually they both got their trophies/medals. They weren't expecting there to be a tie, so they only had one to give out on the day. She got her trophy later, which could've happened to any two people who tied. So that doesn't really hold up.

For the people that don't follow college sports, the event she was referencing was a video she made showing all of her awards, and she went to school at Kentucky which is an SEC school, the Southeastern Conference has always been known as one of the toughest conferences in Collegiate Sports, THEY DONT GIVE OUT PARTICIPATION TROPHIES!

The original video was also great, where she was showing all of her trophies, she has NCAA trophies she has SEC trophies she even has non-athletic Awards for academic achievement, and it's not like she went to Southeastern Sheboygan Community College, she was a Kentucky Wildcat, they have one of the best sports programs in the country and they don't give out participation trophies neither does the SEC
She has team awards and individual awards in the sec. We have teenagers that are better swimmers. She didn't lose because she's a girl she lost because she wasn't good enough to win.

Olbermann has been irrelevant for many, many years and honestly, he has always been a crappy sports reporter. This young lady here though? Extremely relevant, smart , tough and wonderful. Kudos to the SEC for stepping up and getting this young woman a new trophy. Love it.

Absolutely, all the years of training all of the times leaving the house at 4:00 in the morning because you have to go to a meet, and everybody knows the SEC does not get participation trophies, they're one of the toughest conferences in collegiate athletics, to even play in the SEC is impressive, let alone to excel.
