Donald is easily one of the greatest and most versatile artists of our generation. A true genius mind that still fails to get as much appreciation as he should.
Donald Glover is without a doubt a human tsunami of creativity. I’d lose my mind if the Star Wars franchise actually made a stand alone Lando Calrissian film. Would love to see an episode on Will Poulter. He’s genuinely a fascinating actor whose career is going from strength to strength. The dude grinds away and he’s definitely one of the actors who will pave his own road ahead.

Keep it up man and best of luck for your future. Hope your talent gets recognised by billions around the world
This video summarizes why Donald Glover is my favorite artist of all time because he's mastered so many mediums and never settled on fitting into a "box". Plus, besides J. Cole, he's like the only black "rapper" of his generation that graduated from college, showing that you don't have to completely drop everything in your life to pursue a career in the arts/entertainment if you have the talent, work ethic, and at the right place at the right time. This was a fantastic video, Dodford!!
Donald is a creative mastermind and what I think will add to his legacy even more is the fact, that Atlanta introduced us to three actors who in 30 years we will look back at as legends in zazie, Bryan Thyree and Lakeith (even though he was more known at the time).
as an aspiring filmmaker myself, this might just be the best production, writing and research for a youtube video i’ve ever seen. cultivating and inspiring from the first second. thank you youtube for recommending this to me!
I had never heard of Donald Glover till my high school English teacher had us do a class discussion/analysis of “This is America”, but the man’s like an actual genius
I didn't expect to get so inspired by his thought process. The idea that you can do anything you want to. It's so simple yet mind-blowing. Thanks for making this video. Great storytelling and editing 🤍
A genuinely inspirational story for anyone that has ever felt like they don't belong. He and Tyler the Creator really embody the same unrelenting creativity to me, I see a lot of parallels between them. I'd love to see them work together. No matter the field of the project, you just know it would be breathtaking. Something that has stayed with me ever since Camp released is the outro to That Power. "I told you something. It was just for you and you told everybody. So I learned to cut out the middle man, make it all for everybody, always. Everybody can't turn around and tell everybody. Everybody already knows - I told them."
Its crazy honestly. Alot of people in the entertainment industry eventually try to branch out to some form of music but most of it just sucks. Gambino is genuinely an amazing artist who i listen to on rotation. He can do anything. Writing, music, acting, ... Its insane.
i will always be such a huge fan of Donald Glover. he's incredible. i listened to his music as a teen (i still do as an adult. it's nostalgic now honestly), really enjoyed Community, and i'm a HUGE fan of the show Atlanta. so sad it came to an end, but the ending was perfect. this video was so amazing! i'm definitely going to be looking into more of his work.
I completely forgot this was the same person. I would see him doing standup and thought it was weird seeing someone so similar, in Star wars or The Community. I completely forgot he did music too. Its crazy to think that one person can do all of this in one lifetime.
This video didn’t feel like it was 16 minutes long, it felt like almost an hour! But not in a bad way! Your video hooked me and was so entertaining it felt wayyy longer than it was. Also the editing and script were top notch!
Dude this video is absolutely insane; the editing and the background music - it all ties together really well like an awesome documentary! respect for that ‘cause this is such a good video
the world always tells us to stick to one thing or we'll fail and it creates so much anxiety. Donald's story is truly inspiring because sometimes you really gotta let go and do something you love, believe in yourself and take that risk. sticking to something you don't even enjoy doesn't get you very far.. and thank you for making this video. it is well put together, packed with information but not too long
Wow. Another insane entry of the Dodford Docuseries! Seriously loved how you used what would be traditionally seen as an intro as your outro there at the end. Keep it up 🙌
Interestingly, the guy who directed the music video for This is America, Hiro Murai, also directed most of the episodes for Atlanta. And he had never directed a show before that. Not only that, but he went on to direct The Bear, which has a very similar style as Atlanta. There is definitely a good story there.

I love Donald Glover and genuinely think that he’s one of the most talented individuals to ever live. I first saw him on community during its original run and his portrayal of Troy Barnes made the show one of my favorites to this day. However, I watched the first season of Atlanta recently and while I do think it’s a fantastic show and I really enjoyed the first season, I don’t think that it is one of the most influential shows of the century.
I been listening to gambino since middle school and I ALWAYS loved his art and style. I wouldn’t consider him slept on and more of a self made man that you don’t really see on billboards because he chooses to bring art and not top 10 hits for his numbere
Impeccable production on this video. Not just packed with information, but with countless visual and audio references to make it all so easy to absorb - especially with how focused each beat of the script was. And on top of that, the pacing, music and inflection took it beyond information - it become a real story. World-class work.
Childish Gambino was the first rapper whose mixtapes I listened to on DatPiff. He was the first rapper I ever bought a CD of, the first time I ever showed NEW music to my friends, and the first rapper I memorized every single word on an album to. Donald has the most memorable stand up I’ve ever seen- because he is the most memorable person I’ve ever seen.
For a video that has such a HIGH quality, I was expecting this channel to have at least 100k subs but I was surprised that it's just reaching 40k. What an well crafted video, with Donald being one of my favorites artist & all, it was obvious I was going to click on it because I'm inspired by his creativity. Keep up the good work. This will have 1million views soon enough!👍🏽

I'll never forget the morning "This is America" dropped, was around 8am in the UK and must have watched it at least 10 times right there and then. Was blown away.
Community first aired exactly at the same time I was feeling uninspired by my job and went back to college. It was a small class full of other people around the same age who went back to school for various reasons. One of the guys in my class told us about this new show called Community and insisted we all watch it. "It's us! It's us!" Hahaha that show was so brilliant and we all loved it. Still one of my favorite shows ever and Troy's meltdown over meeting Levar Burton is still one of my favorite episodes of anything ever 😂
I hate to say it but not really I’ve never heard of him or watched anything. He’s ever done until just now. I’m so glad that my life does not revolve around television, Twitter, and UA-cam that I literally just use it as passing by. He’s very gifted.
The quality of this (as well as your other videos) is crazy good, incredibly well done! The editing, storytelling, pacing, music, just everything is perfect. Keep going man, I'm rooting for you and waiting to see your channel grow!

His song Feels like Summer is one of my favorite songs of all time, sound is soothing and calm makes me wanna cry for some reason. He's truly man of many talents, I will watch Atlanta fo sho

This will have 1million views soon enough!👍🏽
donald glover is the epitome of pure talent mixed with absolute genius, it’s hard to believe he can do so many things and yet be so good at every single one of them
Most slept on UA-camr right now
SO true.
Appreciate that Jake :)
The best all around performer of our generation by far. Everything he touches is golden, excited to see what paths he forges for himself in the future
i’ve never seen such a well done comprehensive timeline on donald glover, then was shocked to see you were at 1m views at least! this is a work of art about another work of art and i just adore it
I'll never forget the morning "This is America" dropped, was around 8am in the UK and must have watched it at least 10 times right there and then. Was blown away.
What a video. Wow!!! As the self-proclaimed #1 fan of DG, this truly spoke to me. You absolutely crushed it. Well done!!!
"no one´s gonna outdo you being you" gotta be the hardest and most real line I ever heard in my life
That was exceptional! I am fascinated by Donalds story, but I think I may be more amazed by the level at which you executed the story! Great work haha
Criminally underrated! Fantastic video I seriously strive for this type of quality later down the line! Well done!
I found you through his Corridor Crew video essay and it's been so great seeing you grow in popularity in real time
How is EVERY video you do so good. The edits the research and execution are all incredible
I remember watching Guava Island without being really familiar with Donald's career and I was so impressed by this short film. His song Feels like Summer is one of my favorite songs of all time, sound is soothing and calm makes me wanna cry for some reason. He's truly man of many talents, I will watch Atlanta fo sho
listening to childish gambino for the first time then finding out it was him was a real full circle moment for me
I came here with no expectations but you blew my mind. I feel like i just watched a Netflix documentary cause what you made is soooo good.
You just gained a subscriber.
This is one of the most inspiring things I’ve watched in forever thank you for telling this story
