  • Naval fleets globally deploy a diverse range of ships, each tailored for specific roles and missions. Over the years, the designations and roles of these maritime powerhouses have evolved, reflecting changes in naval warfare and technology. This evolution has introduced complexity and blurred classifications, adding a layer of intricacy to the ever-evolving world of naval vessels.
In this video, we explore the main types of modern naval vessels - cruisers, destroyers, frigates, and corvettes - shedding light on their unique characteristics.

Each country with a Navy may have different classifications for the weight class/armament. So, there is no specific "class". Thank you for sharing this video.

I don't think any type can offer realistic defense against swarm hypersonic missile attacks.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Addressing swarm hypersonic missile threats is crucial. Check out our video on high-energy laser weapons - it explores their potential in countering these challenges: shorturl.at/rvIV3

I'm more confused at end of film my understanding is three types of battle ships as opposed to merchant ships first aircraft carriers obviously carry aircraft and or helicopters and drones second battleship same as carrier but no air arm like galleon's of sailing ship day and a coastal speedboat no air arm and doesn't go into blue water oceans /// have I got it

Thanks for your comment! In the context of warships, you're correct. Aircraft carriers carry aircraft, battleships are heavily armed but lack an air arm, and coastal speedboats operate without an air arm and are designed for nearshore waters. However, naval classifications can vary.
In the context of the US Navy, warship classifications are based on size. Aircraft carriers are the largest, followed by cruisers with varying gun sizes. Destroyers and frigates are smaller, armed with guns. Littoral combat ships are an even smaller class of surface vessels intended for operations in the littoral zone (close to shore) by the US Navy.
It's important to note that this is an oversimplification of a complex system. Follow our channel as we plan on creating more videos on various different classification systems of different nations :)

@@defencecentral thank you for your help on this so size especially of the ship and size of guns carried on the ship presumably size must be related to battle zones and Thier proximity to the coast /// I properly need to understand the different types of battle zones I've haw far and possibly how deep the body of water is from the coast to fully appreciate the appropriatness of each ship in those zones // wow good for the grey matter in my brain
