    First of all, thanks for the beautiful video, I'm the owner of a Boxster 2.7 from 2005. It has great historical value because it brings together in a small jewel the top mechanics and technology of the Porsche 911 from the 90s as well as having saved the house of Stuttgart from bankruptcy. 6-cylinder naturally aspirated mid-engine and rear-wheel drive, what more could you want? Having the fortune of driving a 986 boxster is a unique privilege, considering that internal combustion engines will be out of production in a few years..

    I own a early produced Boxster 986 2.5 in the launch configuration, arctic grey with boxster red extended leather interior. Full of great option like M30 sport chassis, manual gearbox, hardtop, LSD, 17" wheels. I drive this car for more than 10 years now and I will keep it as long as I can, what a pure analogue driving experience. This model is very important in Porsche modern history and deserve beautiful video like this one. Congratulations.

    After I crashed my heavily modded, widebody 2ZZ swapped Gen 3 MR2 Spyder, I knew the void could be filled by another lightweight mid-engine machine...
    Thus shortly after I bought my first porsche; an 02, 3.2 liter, 6 speed, 986 Porsche Boxster S. Wasted no time modding... nearly half a decade later it's got a Fabpeed exhaust, CAI, catless headers, IPD Plenum/TB, Numeric shifter, Bilstein performance struts, H&R lowering springs,18×10in BBS Sport Classic rims in silver, a polyurethane GT3 front bumper, side skirts, modified GT3 rear bumper ( had a hard top) etc...
    Sounds vicious; absolute masterpiece of a machine to drive. Everything happens for a reason! 😂

    That’s awesome , what a great history! 👌🏼
    I’ve had mine since new in 1999, and enjoy it as much now as I did on day one!
    Touch wood still drives like it just came off the showroom floor.
    67,000 km 2.5 Base , Silver with red full leather interior, and a few tasteful upgrades 😊
    Keep on enjoying ur car brother they are fast becoming a timeless classic .

    Great story. I also own the the first Porsche I drove. I became obsessed with Porsche, like many, with Hot Wheels cars. Around 5yo. After becoming enthusiastic about them my dad's own enthusiasm grew. He always wanted one but couldn't get one. His dad wanted one but never got one. We would go to dealerships and explore for hours. We would get a lottery ticket on the way home and keep an eye out for a duffle bag of cash on the side of the road. When I was 15 yo he told me to meet him outside to pick me up for the weekend. My parents were divorced by then so this was a normal occurrence. He turned to the corner in a seemingly brand new 996 Cabrio in Guards red. The same spec we'd dream about. The first words out of my mouth were, "Did you rent this for the day." He said, "Nope! I bought it yesterday." We had talked about renting one someday but it was a far off idea, he has never been a very wealthy man. The car he just got rid off was a 1989 Dodge Dynasty, P.O.S edition. Little did I know he'd been saving for years to get a down payment. I'll never forget that morning. We just drove and drove and drove. After 4 hours we went to his house and stared at it all evening. Just to get up and go drive again. I finally had a safe space to just bond with my father. Something our relationship desperately needed. A dream come true. In April, he signed it over too me for my 35th birthday. It needs a lot of work but I'm getting it back on the road in spring. We haven't been on the best terms for years and we haven't had a good drive in almost 10 years. I'm so excited to call him in May and say, "Meet me outside, I'm coming to pick you up for the weekend."

    This is such a well put video. Congratulations. It hurts me that you put those things on the roof of the car. Being a convertible is 50% of what this car is about. Even accordingly the spirit of the video you show in the VHS. You see some cars with cargo on their top as an example of what the Boxster is not... I don't want so sound negative. Your video is among the best I ever saw on UA-cam, the story is great and compelling. But why carry stuff on the roof of a Boxster?!

    • @996Roadtrip
      @996Roadtrip  Рік тому +3

      It shouldn’t hurt you at all. This is the roof rack system directly from Porsche so they intended the Boxster to be used this way. In fact it’s one of the best features of the car. It’s truly a multipurpose sports car… oh and the rack can even stay on with the top down 👌🏼👌🏼
