I have a metal Dahle from the 1950's. It was my great-grandmother's. She was a teacher, it stood in her desk dor the students to use. I might need to replace the helix, but it still works well. 😊 It's very heavy and sturdy. The exacto is way to big for me. I have a round brass sharpener with a big and a small hole. It works perfectly, even for my Faber-Castell jumbo graphite pencils. Also I love sharpening by hand, I love the sound, the feel and if the pencils have nice wood, the smell.
I am cracking up here, I always hand my knife back to my darling hubby to close! I have severe hand disability, among others. That give and take and the giggles with your darling is why I love watching you and Steve. As disabled moms, we depend on our husbands and children so much, and the joy you two share with us proves that a Godly home filled with Joy and Love can conquer everything, even scary sharpening knives!
WOW, YOU ARE A GREAT TEACHER! Thank you for teaching how to take apart, clean, graphite stuff. I deeply appreciate your camera angles for teaching + clear audio. 🩵🩷💚
The Exacto's loudness was a lot less screechy than the other sharpener. I noticed that the higher pitched sharpening was a little tougher on my ears as well.
I love my Kum 4 in 1 but now I love my dahle 133 more, lol.I put the handle of my dahle facing off the edge of my desk when I sharpen my pencils. I have run over 100 pencils through the dahle and it still works great. So glad Rose is doing better, my Maltese Louis Vuitton is sitting next to me right now.
I found that clamping the Dahle 133 to the edge of my coloring table I don't have to worry about hitting my fingers on the table top since it is out over the edge. If attaching it to the table is an issue you could probably add a wooden block to the bottom to raise the height and not have to worry about clearance.
Another vote for the Dahle 133. I've had one since 2016 and it's still going strong. Every few months I un a graphite pencil in there. That's it. Never had trouble with pencils of any size, shape, or brand. Yes, it's plastic but still durable. Not cheap or flimsy by any means. I like that it is light and small (I can carry it in a handbag if I need to).
Your son is so creative! His stone additions to the Kum pencil sharpeners is genius and I think is a great business idea! Also, I think it is so sweet that you want a pencil sharpener that does not disturb little Rose. You're such a protective Mama and it's adorable! ❤
So I bought the XActo. My old one slowly died after a year, so slowly I didn’t realize what was happening. So I was very surprised at the power this one had and how sharp everything was. Part of the problem with the old was that one side of the point was all wood up to the tip. Not anymore. Plus if I ever breakdown and buy square pencils this sharpener will take care of them. It’s fast and has a low vibration sound rather than reaching a high ear scratching note. Wonderful choice. Thanks.
I have a few Kums, My friend gifted me a Dahle 133. I would love to have several Kums with decorative stones! They would make a nice gift for friends and pretty to collect!
With the Dahle 133 you can remove the blade frim the back easily ...it twists out & in. Run a graphite pencil thru it occaionally to help clean blade. I love mine....very little lead breakage if any with it.
This came at the perfect moment for me, cause TODAY I asked my husband to give me money to buy a sharpener, but that I needed to do some research first to know what to buy. I you came out with this video!!! Thank u so much! U save me lots of trouble! 😅
My favourite is Koh-I-Noor 9095/11 - it is not electric but very gently for crayons. Very good quality sharpener, good price and it's vice has rubber and leaves no traces on the decorative part of the crayons.
I like the Dahle133 it is very sturdy for being made of plastic, and you can order replacement helix when it stops working well. I also have a rechargeable sharpener by Jarlink and it can hold pencils up to 12mm including round, triangular, and square style pencils. Replacement helix are available.
You always do the best most informative reviews/comparisons. Love them. Very very helpful and fun. Thank you. Im getting the Xacto!!! I did see where ppl said the shavings container could slip out easy. So one person wrapped a rubber band around whole thing and just slide up to pull out and empty.
Over the past 10+years, I have accumulated various sharpeners. There are only a few I keep. In no order of preference, are my little KUM and also a gold round M&R. These two, I still keep and have a number of spare blades for both. I also have a couple T'Gaals. Those were the first ones to have various settings. Those need tossed when blades go bad. My most recent acquisition is a Dahle 133 desktop, and I just purchased my 2nd. (The first lasted 5 years.) So this is my sharpener stash. BTW, I used to save pencil shavings in a super giant jar. I no longer do this. I need all the space...lol.
Thank you very much for both of you ! Extraordinary review. I am going to buy X-acto pencil sharpener ! It is really worth to buy it ! Love the way you look after Rose 😍
Thank you Jennifer for such a thorough review. I have several manual sharpeners and they are pretty good for me, however they take a long time to sharpen especially when you have to sharpen a whole set, so I was glad that you talked about a couple of electric ones. Let us know if you still love and use Exacto sharpener on all of your pencils after ..... say ..... 3 months?
I don’t know if you looked I got a Jarlink,it’s a recheargeable very solid, it takes pencils 6” to 12” size and it’s very fast, not any noisier than what you tried. It is now a prime day deal if you can still get it before midnight your time. I have it since Christmas and I love it. I also have another rechargeable Trunium, it’s a little smaller and I think more gentle on Prismacolors. Also very fast and not too loud. I see it’s also a prime day deal, maybe you can still check it out. They are both strong built,as I said I didn’t have breakage problems. I couldnt do the cranking, would be too tiring for me
I use the three hole M & R pencil sharper and it is the best for expensive pencils as one of the three holes is just to sharpen the lead, one to sharpen the wood and the third does both. You can get them on Amazon and they work for my lumps and lightfast among other expensive pencils. The blades are German steel and replaceable. Not to mention Rose would not be upset as it is a hand sharpener, it can go wherever you go and the shavings are worth collecting. Much love & *virtual hugs* from Australia xxx
I have a swordfish hand crank pencil sharpener and I love it. I've had it for 3 years and it still working fine and you can get replacement helix blades for it if you need to. I just tried a huge graphite pencil in there and the mouth fit it and it doesn't leave marks
Thank-you for the review. I would think that is why the Dahle 133 comes with a attachment to put on the end of a desk. So that when you are sharpening your hand doesn't touch the desk. The other X-actor has a dull sound not so high pitched as the one you were using. As for Rose (cutie 💓) I really don't think anyone likes sitting listening to a lot ... 500 pencils being sharpened by a electric pencil sharpener. I can relate to how Rose feels! 😅
You convinced me to buy the X-acto. I found it for 27.99 at Office Max. I am going to keep some cheap graphite pencils handy when I sharpen my Prismacolor and Castle. The instructions say not to use soft waxy pencils or chalk because it can clog. The excellent thing I found is that you can take X-acto apart and even purchase new cutters and X-acto tells you how to take it apart to replace. Not many other companies do that. I will continue to use my Kum for my pastels and watercolor pencils because I save the shavings.
Great program, Jennifer! I can recommend the Uni-KH20 hand crank sharpener as a high quality but affordable option, on Amazon. It’s a lot like the Dahl, but taller like the Carl, and I think it’s smoother than the Dahl, no teeth bites top. I was turning into a sharpening nerd with the Uni until I bought the square Brutfuners and found out they don’t fit in the Uni! Oh no! I have the all grey 133; could it be taller than the black and white 133? Someone else wondered the same. Your “Rose test” with noise helps your audience who also have pets, and it’s just plain cute to see your adorable dog getting treats. Haha.
Carl makes a custom cc2000 that takes care of those short comings. No bitey marks, and even has adjustable tip geometry. Made of steel, and very similar to the angel 5.
Speaking of the DAHLE 133, I have used on at least 400 pencils thus far - including sharpening 2 120 sets in a row - with no issues with the plastic, so hopefully it will hold up for you as well.
I´m so glad I came across this video, because I am looking for a pencil sharpener. My old one leaves bitemarks. I HATE that. And T gaal is difficult to find here in Sweden. But there are lots of KUMs and Dahles to choose from :) Thanks for testing out these ones. 🤩
I have the Exacto one at a store with an Amazing price, my pencils had a Long point. Gave to my daughter.. I bought on Amazon the Even Bigger teacher Exacto pug in one. I Love how fast it is and Long points. My son showed me how to sharpen square pencils slightly turn the pencil left and pull out. Perfect points, I do use a regular pencil to clean the blades. I Could sharpen a bunch colored pencils before I had to clean.I did All my sets, and he helped..I Appreciate You teaching us so Very much!🙏🙏🙏🤟😊
My favorite is the KUM that sharpens with 2 holes that you said you thought was for graphites. I have the Tihoo, the Dahle but I like the KUM the best.
Suggest case pocket knife and mill file. For sharpening pencils The file allows attitude with type of point needed. Also fairly quiet so your animal won't mind. Probably not practical for church. X acto looks great for large batch pointing of pencils. I owned a Panasonic for several years. It gave great service but large pencils would not do. Your kume will eventually get dull. Pocket knife can be resharpened and the file wire brushed to clean. Draghtsmen used to use pocket knife and file for years and is simple to clean and maintain. There is no perfect pencil sharpener. It's what you can afford and what's available. Canned air a great idea! Thank you for thorough review.😊
Personally i love the vertical adjustable point length Afmat electric sharpener. Clean fast and by being vertical it puts absolutely zero pressure on the precious cores. I like a really long point as it encourages a lighter touch
I have the X-Acto School Pro. I have moderate forearm tendonitis and sharpening too many pencils in a row causes fatigue, then pain. Also, while it is noisy, it sure doesn't have that ear-damaging high-pitched screech that your other electric one does. So I love the X-Acto for the most part. The only caveats are that: 1. The machine WILL balk, (as you experienced when you had a pencil in the wrong size hole) if you try to force the pencil in. Apparently it's engineered to sense when someone is trying to use unnecessary force, like a child might. A nice safety feature, although the first time it happened I was afraid I'd broken it, lol. 2. The bin does pop open if you don't hold it shut, meaning you need two hands to sharpen the pencil. Kind of annoying, but not a deal-breaker. I fixed that issue by tying a grippy red-and-white roller-skate shoelace into a loop around the bottom half. When I want to empty it, I just slip it up and off. You could use a big elastic or something, but I like the decorative effect, since the machine itself is kind of bland. I'm thinking about gluing some Swarovki crystals, the flat kind, on it to add some pizazz :)
I agree with the high pitch!! And I just ordered the Xacto, and seen in the reviews where someone wrapped a rubber band around the bin… but your idea is sooo good!!! Ima do that! Cause I too, would think be so cute and decorate with different color bows as i want ☺️ great idea! Thanks!!!
I have an ipoint electric sharpener, I have an old RSI ganglion that flares up so I don't like manual sharpeners either. It's not high pitched, doesn't bother my cat and it didn't bother my beautiful late cavalier. I only need one hand for it if it's on a flat surface. I don't know how easily available the are outside Australia, though. They are very cheap here and come with several replacement blades.
I have the Dahle 133 an I'll sacrifice the height over the the Helix with the metal one that leaves bit mark's on my pencils. It's even more portable because it's lighter an compact so I can just toss it in my coloring bag. 🦋🌻🤍💛🫂 But it was a great video TFS Sweetie 🥰😘
@@daelite69 yeppers ❣️🥰❤️ I actually purchased a Dollar Tree electric sharpener that uses 2 double AA batteries an I have yet to replace the batteries on it since I purchased it. An I use Both sharpeners when I need to scharpen just a odd pencil that doesn't fit into the battery operated sharpener I just use the Dahle 133.
Interesting video. That Xacto is a beast, as I'm sure Rose would agree. Thank you for mentioning using canned air to clean the helical blade. I would've never thought of that, but it's brilliant! 👍🙂
Thanks for testing these! The Exacto electric 6 hole sharpener was the first sharpener I bought, before watching any reviews. Then I heard that the electric sharpeners were a NO-NO, so I quit using it and bought others. Hooray, I am going back to using the Exacto and keeping my rechargable Afmat for traveling, along with a collection of little KUM sharpeners. My husband has some from college (he graduated in 1980). He used them to sharpen pencils for engineering drawings and they still work. PS. I love the stones on the sharpeners! They are beautiful, the stones add weight, but I love the feel of heavier, high quality products and those are QUALITY!
I have a Helix metal desktop sharpener. They're available in red, black and blue. Quite a big hole and definitely no bite marks. Five different point sharpness options. It cost 9 pounds from a stationery store in Gibraltar hand it's absolutely fabulous. So fabulous, I went back to the shop later to get a second one 🙂
I bought the "Muji Manual Pencil sharpener W55 x H103 x D106mm Made in Japan White" - it is less than $15 on Amazon. It works like the Dahl/Carl, a bit taller thank the Dahl I think and also creates a really great point - but does take off a good deal of material. It was recommended in a book I read on Botanical Art. I highly recommend it. I ordered some Kum from your link - I can't find mine. I love Rose! I'm glad she's doing better! I have 2 little Havanese that keep me company - Lily Rose & Teddy ❤❤ The X-Acto Pencil Sharpener, SchoolPro - was very impressive - I would invest in that if I used my pencils more. I enjoy using the Muji - it's kind of relaxing and satisfying for me. lol. We artists are kind of unique. I was thinking of that as I spent an hour watching a video about pencil sharpeners!!! LOVED IT. THANK YOU.
Very informative. The Exacto, was a different tone than the battery powered. It was deeper. The hand crank, maybe have your boys could build a block of 2x4 to raise it up an be a grippe material on bottom (flex seal paint) and a strap over the top of Velcro? 🐾🐶hi miss Rose.
Ok, I just ordered the Dahle 133. The electric is too big. I looked for the little Kum 2 hole but could not find currently. I do not want grip marks on my pencils. The Dahle 133 seems to be a very good choice. I am also going to order the other Carl-cc model as it also does not leave grip marks unlike the Carl-angel
Hello Jennifer, thanks for all you do, I'm currently using the Ipoint evolution and the Ipoint orbit. Both are battery powered. I'd like your thoughts on them. Thanks in advance.
Little pup is not bothered by the exacto sharpener quite as much do to the tone being lower having less of a high pitched almost metallic sound when running like the other one and I'm sure the shorter sharpening time may help alittle as well. And I would definitely encourage your son to give advertising/selling his homemade stone sharpeners. Great video. Guess Im alittle late viewing but glad to find it .
I have one that looks just like your Office World one except for different colors called Afmat I got on Amazon. So far I really like it. Does my watercolor pencils well including my Albrecht Durer standard, not Magnus, which are just a little fatter than a regular pencil although they don't look it they don't fit a regular pencil sharpener.
I'm also on the hunt for a good sharpener. So far, my favorite is the Prismacolor sharpener but I think your little Kum looks like a winner. I need something that will do the Stabilo Woody pencils and they are quite thick.
My D133 is not reliable. It's like your Carl. Sometimes it works great and I can sharpen a lot of pencils but other times I just need one pencil sharpened and it won't do it. I love it but it's not my favorite anymore and I've had it less than a year. I also have the Xacto one and LOVE it. I haven't had it for a year though so we'll see if I still love it in another six months or so. I use it all the time. It stays on my desk of course :) The only thing is the shaving form a mountain and you do need to shake it so the mountain will fall. Otherwise it affects the sharpening of the pencils because the shaving are interfering with it. The container does pop out. Sometimes I have to use two hands. One to hold the pencil and the other the storage part. It's not all the time but often enough. I think with the loudness, the xacto doesn't have the high pitch sound as the other one. And I do love my kum :)
I have such a hard time using manual pencil sharpeners any more. My fingers are too arthritic. I need an electric one. But my last one started braking my cores. Thanks for sharing!
Out of curiosity, why didn’t you pull out the front of the Dahle? The button on the top on the side facing away from you releases the front that slides out to hold the pencil better.
Hi! The sharpeners with the stones on top are so beautiful!... From what i could hear the gold topped sharpener is much higher pitched than the xacto. Perhaps Rose was more sensitive to the high pitched sound. A really good review. Thanks very much!
I totally agree with this! I sat here listening to this video through my headset. When she started the first electric pencil sharpener, it was like blowing a whistle in my ear. Needless to say, I cringed! That high pitch is probably what is irritating her.
have you tried the swordfish multipoint electric sharpener? For its $100 price tag, It should check every box on your list and then some 😬I'm so frustrated replacing the $30 ones i might just get it
Witch kum sharpener do you use ?coast a lot of sharpening from the pencils, I would like to try it, I have the dahle 133, and the tenwin electric sharpener , and also different hand sharpeners Tgaal, fc and prismacolor
I have had lots of pencils shapers . but now I have Prisma ,Luminance and Polychomos I need a decent one, Dahle 133 Pencil Sharpener broke. like you I have the bullet kum. Still searching thank you for this video
Hi Jen…….I save my pencils shaving from my color pencils……..I’m a mixed medium artist….….I have my own art studio in my home. I use the saving’s in my art work. I put my saving’s in some mix medium paste and then smear them through a stencil……..All the color’s mix together. …..It’s a fun way to use them….I’m working in one of my favorite coloring books……Hanna Lynn……I just got 5 new set’s of pencils…….Judy D…
My electric sharpener just broke and your video gave me things to to think about I love my Kym to keep in my purse. I would love to buy a Kum with a stone on it like your son makes. Does he sell them? If so, IM me price and any other info. Thanks! Rome Smith
Good even as art youtuber who have tried over 30 sharpeners to find the a sharpen that works for me, my fave the xacto ks. it is a crank with adjust size feed, wall mounted and double helix blade. the only check it does check is portability because it is wall mounted but for portability and all other requirement you have i use M & R double hole brass, with this like your kum i need to take a small bag for shavings, there is also faber castell double hole, this comes with a canister. thank you
This was a fun video to watch! Of the electric sharpeners you compared, the OfficeWorld one had a higher pitch sound than the X-Acto sharpener. Perhaps the pitch rather than the loudness of the noise is what disturbs Rose. Another thing: as you found out, hexagonal pencils comforably fit triangular holes. Think of hexagons as triangles with the points cut shorter so you end up with six sides.
I had the Dahle 133 and it broke shortly after buying it (a little bar inside the top of it disconnected and I cannot find a way to repair it). I still have the Dahle 155 and it bites the pencils bad and I mean bad (does anyone want it?). I bought the Carl Angel-5 on a recommendation and I love it. Very faint bite marks on the pencil and it's a very sturdy pencil sharpener. I still have my Kum and do love it but I'm short on patience so my Carl gets most of the use.
Thank you for the review. Re the long point sharpener by Kum. It's the same exact sharpener as Blackwing sells but cheaper if it doesn't have the Blackwing name. I don't like using the cover to collect shavings so have removed it. I sharpen over a cup.
He should definitely make & sell those. They're beautiful!!!
I agree
I have a metal Dahle from the 1950's. It was my great-grandmother's. She was a teacher, it stood in her desk dor the students to use. I might need to replace the helix, but it still works well. 😊 It's very heavy and sturdy.
The exacto is way to big for me. I have a round brass sharpener with a big and a small hole. It works perfectly, even for my Faber-Castell jumbo graphite pencils.

You are so kind. I love this comment. ❤️❤️❤️
Oh my goodness! How original! Yessssssssssss! He should do them to sell! He'd make a fortune! 🤩💜👍🏻
I sooooo want one or 5 of thos sharpeners!
Indeed!
As a rock collector and an artist I would absolutely treasure one of these sharpeners!
WOW, YOU ARE A GREAT TEACHER! Thank you for teaching how to take apart, clean, graphite stuff. I deeply appreciate your camera angles for teaching + clear audio. 🩵🩷💚
Wow, thank you!
The Exacto's loudness was a lot less screechy than the other sharpener. I noticed that the higher pitched sharpening was a little tougher on my ears as well.
And that is likely the dog's main complaint.
YES, I would love a pink stone Kum pencil sharpener! Your son has a great idea!!!
I love my Kum 4 in 1 but now I love my dahle 133 more, lol.I put the handle of my dahle facing off the edge of my desk when I sharpen my pencils. Yes exactly it needs to be mounted so your hand or fingers clear the table.
Metal body would be nice

Btw, is sooooo nice when a son/daughter do something thoughtful for us moms! 🥰🥰🥰 Those sharpeners came out beautiful! 🥰❤️
Coloring companion. So sweet 😊

The Exacto might be as loud as the other, but the sound isn't as high-pitched - the other one has a more annoying, piercing sound (at least to me)
Agree!!! Much prefer the sound
Agree, lower sound, not high pitched...prolly more hurting of the ears for dogo
Agree.
This came at the perfect moment for me, cause TODAY I asked my husband to give me money to buy a sharpener, but that I needed to do some research first to know what to buy. I you came out with this video!!! Thank u so much! U save me lots of trouble! 😅

Can you get ear protectors for rose?I think the vibrations hurt her ears not just the loudness.
Yes, yes, yes! Gemmed pencil sharpeners would be cool!
Carter does great work.
Your son has a great talent with making your sharpeners look awesome! Yes, I'd love one like that! Hi Rose!
My Tuscan Red always…always is the shortest pencil in my set, from trying to sharpen it! I like the Xacto sharpener, in my cart now!

I have the same xacto school pro you have I sharpened 100 color pencils. It was really really full. And I like it
I have a swordfish hand crank pencil sharpener and I love it. I've had it for 3 years and it still working fine and you can get replacement helix blades for it if you need to. I just tried a huge graphite pencil in there and the mouth fit it and it doesn't leave marks

I have the dahle and tegals and jarlink. I think the sound has a higher pitch that may hurt Rosie’s ears.
The Dahl works like Carl but doesn’t bite! Love the Dahl!
I have the Faber Castell triple holed sharpener with shaving canisters at each end. So portable

Speaking of the DAHLE 133, I have used on at least 400 pencils thus far - including sharpening 2 120 sets in a row - with no issues with the plastic, so hopefully it will hold up for you as well.
I want one of those beautiful sharpeners your son makes! How can I buy one?
I Could sharpen a bunch colored pencils before I had to clean.I did All my sets, and he helped..I Appreciate You teaching us so Very much!🙏🙏🙏🤟😊
Love the gems on the Kum! Where can I order some?!? Thanks for all you do!
My favorite is the KUM that sharpens with 2 holes that you said you thought was for graphites. I have the Tihoo, the Dahle but I like the KUM the best.
Suggest case pocket knife and mill file. For sharpening pencils
The file allows attitude with type of point needed.
The only caveats are that:
How did the dahle 133 do on the prismacolor pencils? I’m going to be buying a new sharpener one that has pencil saver action but on a small budget.
Same, I love my Dahle 133. I use it for every pencil from budget to Luminance & Lightfast. It’s never failed me.
I love that you are still using those small hand sharpeners from the 80s. That makes me so happy.
Hello Jennifer, the Xacto is not good for Prismacolor ???
Yes keep encouraging him to sell those beautiful sharpeners .
LOVED IT. THANK YOU.
Also, you can buy replacement blades for the Kum pencil sharpener.
Yes! Please make the stone top sharpeners!! There're beautiful.
Have tried far less than you, but Carl is my favorite too. By far. Kum and Aspara when mobile. Thanks.
I have that same Exacto model and I like it a lot. Lift the trash bin out carefully because it likes to drop shavings everywhere if you do it quickly.
got my dahle 133 some days ago and really love it 🙂
Hello Jennifer, thanks for all you do, I'm currently using the Ipoint evolution and the Ipoint orbit. Both are battery powered. I'd like your thoughts on them. Thanks in advance.
Is there a video about the 520 brutfuner pencils aswell?
Its the shaving bin I have this one and it can sharpen prismas color and I love it
I'm also on the hunt for a good sharpener.
It stays on my desk of course :)
The only thing is the shaving form a mountain and you do need to shake it so the mountain will fall.
Wow.... love those crystal sharpeners!!! 😍
If you attach the Dahle 133 to the desk then your hand doesn't hit the desk when turning the crank
Thank you for the demonstration of sharpeners.
have you tried the swordfish multipoint electric sharpener? For its $100 price tag, It should check every box on your list and then some 😬I'm so frustrated replacing the $30 ones i might just get it
Love those gem stone sharpeners you're very lucky
I also have one like the Exacto not sure if the brand right now but I never use it because it has to be plugged up across the room.
Any updated on the sharpeners which is your current favorite
Witch kum sharpener do you use ?coast a lot of sharpening from the pencils, I would like to try it, I have the dahle 133, and the tenwin electric sharpener , and also different hand sharpeners Tgaal, fc and prismacolor
No answer
I have had lots of pencils shapers . but now I have Prisma ,Luminance and Polychomos I need a decent one, Dahle 133 Pencil Sharpener broke. like you I have the bullet kum. Still searching thank you for this video
Yes, nag him about the pencil sharpeners. I love 'em! 😊😊
Great review Jennifer.. what are your thoughts on the swordfish sharpener .. as a lot of ppl recommend these tysmfs 🥰
My electric sharpener just broke and your video gave me things to to think about I love my Kym to keep in my purse. I would love to buy a Kum with a stone on it like your son makes. Does he sell them? If so, IM me price and any other info. Thanks! Rome Smith
My favorite hand held sharpener is the Scholar one with the little green catch basin. I think that has a German blade on it.
I would love to have one of your sons gem sharpeners! They are beautiful! 😀
I wonder if you can paint the teeth on “The Carl” with something like puffy paint or a rubbery substance to keep it from biting the pencils.
Where can I find or do about the blades in case they need to be replaced for the Kum sharpener?
I had the Dahle 133 and it broke shortly after buying it (a little bar inside the top of it disconnected and I cannot find a way to repair it). I still have the Dahle 155 and it bites the pencils bad and I mean bad (does anyone want it?). I bought the Carl Angel-5 on a recommendation and I love it. Very faint bite marks on the pencil and it's a very sturdy pencil sharpener. I still have my Kum and do love it but I'm short on patience so my Carl gets most of the use.
I have the Carl-CC and love it! Doesn’t bite the pencils. It’s bigger, though, and heavier as well.
I like the KUM but after using MrPen I like it better. I still use the KUM for my Brutfuner pencils.
Home Depot Round Pencils with Pro-Sharp Sharpener 15-Pack drill bit is available on Amazon. They don't sell just a drill bit, though.
Oh my god your son is SO SWEET!!!! I’d love a gem on my pencil sharpener
The exact is a lower pitch too I think.
Thank you for the review.
Re the long point sharpener by Kum. It's the same exact sharpener as Blackwing sells but cheaper if it doesn't have the Blackwing name. I don't like using the cover to collect shavings so have removed it. I sharpen over a cup.
You should definitely make pencil sharpener stones, I don't know the right word but oh those are beautiful and he really needs to make them.
