    I am totally jealous with how well ALL of these work! I haven’t colored for a while. All of those negative emotions came back immediately when I had to sharpen pencils to color yesterday. No wonder I don’t color very often because of my sharpening frustrations!

      awww I'm sorry to hear that sharpening is frustrating for you! I actually find it quite relaxing (but I'm an odd duck haha!). I hope you are able to find a sharpener that suits you and you are able to enjoy coloring. By the way, even though I have a vast selection of sharpeners I tend to just use my M and R sharpener the most (probably the cheapest of the lot haha). I have heard great things about the Dahle 133 but they are a bit hard to get for a reasonable price in Australia so I haven't tried it but it might be worth looking at. Happy coloring x

    Glad I could help... cause I wished someone told me back then! THE BIG SEARCH FOR A BETTER SHARPENER... they where all perfect! ( I only used and still use "made in germany" harded stainless steel blades.)

    Thank you
    I have probably 20+ sharpeners, and still have not found a favorite...lol
    Give Millie hugs, hope she keeps popping in.

      ooh 20 sharpeners, I'm in awe! I hope you find your fave one day! Milly has spent the morning with me in the coloring cave in her cubby house so she's getting better. Stay safe. Happy coloring x

    LOL,, I love your beautiful fluffy kitty! Great reviews on the sharpeners too. I threw out my Prismacolor sharpener when it fell apart. Broke a lot of pencils in it too. Thought it must have been me being rough with it, but I didn't have the same problems with other sharpeners.

      The Prismacolor sharpeners are tricky ...the trick is to turn the sharpener not the natural instinct of turning the pencil. I much prefer my M and R, it's not tricky at all haha! Milly is adorable, she's sitting on the keyboard now ....helping lol. Happy coloring x

    i use the Dahle 133 (there is also the Dahle 155, but this leaves marks on your pencils, the Dahle 133 doesn't) and never experienced breakage. The Dahle works the same like the Derwent sharpener you showed in your video and even the the softest of pencils don't break. I tossed out all the normal sharpeners, because i won't use them anymore. ^^

      Thanks for sharing! I've tried to buy that sharpener here in Australia before but the prices were beyond my budget :(. Hopefully I'll be able to find a reasonably priced one soon so I can give it a test! Thank you for sharing your experience and the information on the better model for coloring pencils. Stay safe. Happy coloring x

    Very interesting video. Loved seeing all the different sharpeners. I used to like my T’Gaal sharpener but it just doesn’t work as well as others. So I’m going to order the K’Zool sharpener and try that. It looks really nice. Thank you for the comparison video.

    • @coloringqueen
      @coloringqueen  4 роки тому

      You are welcome! Remember the K'zool has a far smaller container for shavings than the T'Gaal so you will need to empty it often. Stay safe. Happy coloring x

    I adore my Ipoint Orbit sharpener. Im so glad someone finally talked about them! The battery operated one is easier on your colored pencils. But i also have the ac plug to wall one. I adore them both. Highly recommend

      @coloringqueen  4 роки тому

      I've been using my ipoint more lately since I uploaded the video. I really like it plus you can get quite a lot of shavings in that container. One day I'd like to buy the ac plug one as I'm not sure how long my repair work will last haha. Still works fine though for now! Stay safe. Happy coloring x

      @@coloringqueen I found my first ac adapter one at Sams Club. Then husbands cat chewed the cord. Thank goodness shes over that. Now i have two ac cords and got a new sharpener to go with lol. I contacted the company and they wouldn't send me just the cord.
      But the battery one I have says on the package it can be plugged in too. But I dont see a way how. Lol
      Tuank you! Have a great August!

    Just a little tip for all the pencil sharpener-reviewers : try turning the sharpener instead of the pencil... just give it a try! After a while ... no more chipping! wow... and longer lasting blades!
    now, just give it an overall re-thinking; the sharpeners cone hole is build centric with the blade always in place. knowing that, now it is clear logic to most of us that a pencil sharpener (handheld) should sharpen the pencil and not the other way around: the pencil is forced to sharpen against the blade by rubbing. Imagine the torsion on that pencil and the blade...?
    in other words: we go to the butcher for salami-slices: Well if the knife is in motion , he can rub the salami on his slicing-machine against it: he will have perfect slices of salami!! when his big round circular knife on his slicing machine is "not in motion" it can't be cutting for in order "too cut you need motion". Know the butcher can try to rub the hole salami against the still knife and it wil slice but it will all end up with an unhappy butcher, customer, machine knife and the biggest looser is the Salami PENCIL

    I have the T'gaal and Derwent Super Point sharpeners and like them. I use the T'gaal for my Prismas, Polychromas and Artezas and the Derwent for my Crayolas, Guang Hui, Tombow, and Marco Raffines. I usually have my T'gaal at a 2-3 not to long not to short the close doesn't work great with mine too and I've had it about a year.

    • @coloringqueen
      @coloringqueen  4 роки тому

      Thanks for sharing! The T'gaal doesn't seem to close well after a period of time. It doesn't worry me as I don't take mine with me in my handbag for example. Stay safe. Happy coloring x

    This was super helpful! I've just went ahead and purchased the T'gaal sharpener!
    My current sharpener is a cheap little metal one that gives a real long point, but I find that the long point causes a lot of my coloured pencils to break. So hopefully I'll have more success with this sharpener!

    • @coloringqueen
      @coloringqueen  3 роки тому +1

      You are welcome Cyan! With the cheap sharpener that you have ....I am not sure how you hold your pencil but if you hold it on it's side the point should not break. When it has worn down a bit from the first lot of color that you are laying down then the point should be worn enough that you can color with the pencil in the vertical position, so you may find that cheap sharpener could still be useful for your pencils. The T'gaal is great because you can really control that point length and find something that feels comfortable for you. Happy coloring x

    I enjoyed this demo. I find my Faber Castell Albrecht Durer sharpen better in my Prismacolor sharpener than they do in the Faber Castell one.

    • @coloringqueen
      @coloringqueen  4 роки тому +1

      That's interesting to know! I was surprised how well other brands sharpened in different branded sharpeners but I guess most pencils are roughly the same barrel and diameter so it makes sense. I was thinking aloud haha! I realized after that I hadn't tested a Faber Castell one at all so I'll have to find one and see how it goes with my Prismacolors ha ha. Stay safe. Happy coloring x

    Couldnt watch all of this video especially after your pencils were sharp. I have the 3 sided M & R but my favourite is the grey Faber Castel pencil sharpener that has 3 holes.❤❤❤

    My favourite sharpeners are the Dahle 133 and M+R "bullet", followed closely by the KUM 4-in-1. I use the first two on "fatter" barrels (eg FC Polychromos) and harder lead pencils (eg Crayola and Tombow Irojiten) while thinner (eg LYRA Polycolor) and soft lead pencils (eg Prismacolor) work better with the KUM. And I am not impressed with the Prismacolor sharpener.

      Thanks for your feedback Peggy. I've been trying to get my hands on a Dahle 133 but I'll probably have to wait until the mail gets back to "normal". It seems to have a lot of fans! Stay safe. Happy coloring x

    Love the Bruynzeel sharpener - i don't need any other! Also blades from KUM fit

      It's a great sharpener and so heavy for such a small item. Thank you for letting me know the Kum blades fit (might be easier for me to get here in Australia). Stay safe. Happy coloring x

    If you switch hands turning the sharpener has a much more natural feeling

    It's been my experience with sharpeners, that if the shaving receptacle gets over full, pencil points start breaking.

    • @coloringqueen
      @coloringqueen  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, I empty mine regularly and give it a little brush out as well from time to time. You've reminded me that I really need to replace the blades in my M and R sharpener! Stay safe. Happy coloring x

    T'GAAL would be a perfect sharpener if it didn't have one significant defect. Well, I already had 3 T'GAALs and each of them stopped working after no longer than 2 months. I find it hard to believe in the stories of ones that have been used for years.

    • @coloringqueen
      @coloringqueen  4 роки тому

      I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you returned them as it may be a defective batch. I actually bought my T'gaal according to Amazon in 2016 ...so it's lasted me pretty well (although I use my M and R far more). I hope you find a sharpener that is long lasting and suits your needs. Stay safe. Happy coloring x

    That's a good variety of sharpeners. I have the round one and love the point it gives. Also have a little electric one that works nice. I liked the tombow fish one. 😄

      It's a little sharpener collection! It's amazing how many I've accumulated over time! The Tombow one is the cutest though (wish I had bought 2 as they are so hard to get here haha) Stay safe. Happy coloring x
