While recording this performance at Shepperton Studios, the movie "Alien" was being filmed in the studio next door. The cast and crew of the Alien movie wandered over to watch the legendary band The Who performing that day. They loved the laser show at the end of Won't Get Fooled Again and they borrowed the laser equipment and used it in the movie. So if you haven't seen Alien, or the next time you watch it be sure to watch for the lasers from The Who in the movie.
Great reaction Elok! So glad you love British music and especially the Who playing live (who were amazing when I saw them live in 69 & 71) All the Best Fred (London England)
Ok, more Rock trivia. This drummer Keith Moon or Moonie as he was called was another British Rock drummer madman who liked his drink also. He was friends with John Bonham of LED ZEPPELIN. When the two of these guys got together, who knows what they would do! Well first they would get piss drunk and act like two star Rock drummers. So anything goes. Wearing full Nazi uniforms and being outrageous? Check. Destroying anything in their path? Check. It goes on and on with those two. Fun loving guys that’s all. Till the car ends up in the pool or they raid a large Jewish event that just happens to be in the same hotel while they are walking around in full Gestapo uniforms. Keith Moon was one of the only people who could match Bonzo’s madness. There are photographs of them doing this! Published photographs! They were nuts. Both sounded great though. I never said they weren’t professionals. They both took great pride in their jobs.
Hi, I'm so glad you got to see The Who at their very best here. The drummer is, as you say, Keith Moon (who is actually distantly related to me, which is kinda scary lol), and he really did, literally, march to the beat of his own drum. This is one of their very best songs ever in my opinion. They also had two great "concept" albums, Tommy and Quadruphenia. A concept album is one in which the songs form a narrative of some sort (a sort of stage musical or opera), or just songs that have a common theme). The Who tend towards songs that describe life in the gritty streets of London, as in Quadruphenia. Tommy is more about a certain Christian religious revival that was happening in the UK in the late 1960's, and warning of the dangers of letting one person become a sort of God-like leader of such a movement. All the best to you! Also wanted to add that Pete Townshend was one of the first adopters of synthesizer technology as a "normal" part of the performance of a song; previously (with a few exceptions of course) most bands tended to use the synth as a bit of a goofy novelty because of the goofy sounds one could make with it. The intro was actually originally programmed into one of the very first sequencers on the market.
I just noticed at the very end Townsend is watching just exactly where Daltrey is slinging that microphone to decide which side of him he wants to be on.
I really appreciate your passion for Rock! That you come half a century after and halfway around the world from where this music arose in Britain amazes me when I see how well you understand it, Elok. You've quickly comprehended the genius of this music.
Elok Hsu, Masterful Reaction to one of the Greatest Rock N Roll Bands Ever....... Great to see your Reactions, and Great to see you experiencing many of the Greatest Musicians through many different Decades........... Damn Long haired Hippies😎🤘
Great to see you hitting some Who Elok and glad you enjoyed. I'd love you to check out one of theirs that isn't done by every reactor. I Don't Even Know Myself at the Isle Of White festival in 70, great performance!
Greetings from the UK. Well done young lady. Info up front, no interruptions in the video, and great analysis to finish. Best wishes to you and your family.
Hi Elok, The Who were a Great band and RIP Kieth Moon and John Entwistle. John was one of the Best Bass Players and Kieth Moon was as Pete Townshend once said, "I don't like his style of Drumming but it works for us", another great song is "Love, Reign o'er me" an epic song
Roger Daltrey said in his autobiography that he started swinging his microphone in 1965 because he was bored just standing at the mike while singing. To this day, he still swings that mike!
Yes, both Keith and Jonh set the standard for what a great rhythm section should sound like in rock in that era. There are no ones who have lived up to that after them so far. But they paid a hard price for that
Great reaçtion to The Who thanks for posting, I can suggest Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Tale of the Giant Stone Eater It's from the Tomorrow Belongs to Me release. Thank you.

Elok, thanks for reacting to this. I've been a Who fan for over 40 years and I've met every member of the band except for Keith Moon. I've never been prouder of the band than I was when they performed at the Concert For New York City at Madison Square Garden just a few weeks after the atrocity of the 9/11 terrorist attack. Would love to see you react to The Who performing "Behind Blue Eyes" at the Concert for New York City.
Awesome band. thought the 60's & 70s UK rock bands ruled the world many copied but never surpassed. You can imitated British music, but you'll never come up with anything to touch it. Keep on Rock'in everyone 😀 🎸 🎤
At last you got to The Who Elok !Your comments about them are spot on Anyone who had the privelege of sseing them live in their heyday were priveleged indeed They were the loudest and the baddest band in the world without equal Everything a great rock band should be they were it At that time Keith Moon and still is in my opinion the greatest rock drummer of all time !Without a doubt one of the greatest rock bands of all time ! Thanks for that Elok Youve made my day !🙏💕
As a live act I don't think anyone one could touch them. Guitarist Pete wrote 98% of their songs and they have a depth that's lacking in other rock songs. You're right about Roger swinging that mic, I saw them in '81 and he put out an overhead light 20 feet above the stage with it. They have a collection of early singles called "Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy" which are descriptions of the 4 band members, Roger, Keith, John and Pete respectively. Their album "Who's Next" that this song is from is a classic must-own for any rock fan. Most fans like "Quadrophenia" next although I prefer "The Who by Numbers". "Who Are You" was their last one with Keith Moon, it's good too as is "Tommy".
I don't like how Keith did the drums at the end of the organ solo, but what the hell. It's the WHO! I love your reaction, you have so much to say! You did your homework, young lady. I met John Entwhistle, served him dinner, and got his autograph. You are cool and funny, keep it up! Love from America.
Now that was a nice reaction. That was era of so many good bands from britain and we could stay there for this one if you like: Dire Straits - Sultans Of Swing (Alchemy Live). You really are cool rock n roll girl! ;)
Pure rock & roll? You got that right! Also, you put out a bunch superlatives and . . . well . . . um . . . I agree with everything you said. Speaking of superlatives, that was the best reaction ever to Won't Get Fooled Again. You are awesome!
These guys were into anarchy rock. Kieth Moon, did not live to be 28, dying of a heroin overdose. Also, you should watch their song, Magic Bus. I have been in Indonesia and Bali in my earlier incarnation. I hope you have a wonderful time bringing old music to the audiences of the present time. Thank You.
Keith Moon died at age 32 of an overdose of barbiturates he was prescribed to get over his alcoholism and withdrawals. He had about 28 undisolved barbiturate pills in his stomach during his death.
Hello elok again. Great keyboard action on we won't get fooled. My favourite who song is behind blue eyes. Also quodrophenia was the best film about the mods and rockers fighting on the South Coast of England. The who did the soundtrack and were the no 1 band for the mods in the mid 6os. Cheers from London josh.
You just witnessed one of the most energetic bands of all time.. not only one of the greatest of all time but they also had one of the all time Greatest Drummers of all time R.I.P Keith Moon.
What makes this special too are three more things. Rogers yell, and Pete's knee slide which are iconic, and the fact that this was one of the very first laser light shows. Did you know that these guys were always arguing and falling out? Yes, true, but they all realised that The Who was bigger than any of their own personal differences. The objective of each member of the band was to out perform all the other members of the band. That is why Keith literally attacks the drums and has almost constant drum fills. That is why John (nicknamed The Ox and Thunderfingers) developed his own unique playing style and rings in those harmonic triplets all the way up and down the scale. See his hand pass from top to bottom and bottom to top of the guitar neck? Listen, and you can hear them. In fact you can access a video on You Tube where only Johns bass playing is recorded for the songs in this session. That too is amazing. It is also the reason why his bass amplifiers are maxed out. And that's why the performances were so spectacular. Each performance is a competition between these four. Can you imagine that? Four magnificent musicians competing each time to give the performance that upstages all the others. Brilliant. Other The Who classics: My Generation, Baba O'Reily, Substitute, Pinball Wizard (Tommy Rock Opera). For Pinball Wizard look to the Elton John sung video here on You Tube. Elton sings, but the music is by The Who. Roger does not sing (but there are versions of the song where he does). He's Tommy, the Pinball Wizard. Elton is The Champ. You love The Who Elok. Me too. Always did, always will. I think your assessment is correct. They are the greatest rock group there has ever been, and this song is the greatest rock song there has ever been too. I am a big Jimi Hendrix fan too, so could not leave here without recommending that you take a look at Jimi Hendrix videos too Elok. You will be AMAZED at what he achieved with guitar. Most guitarists are satisfied to play a guitar the standard way. Not Jimi. He played a reversed strat strung for left hand playing (which meant all the strings were reversed too). Jimi could play guitar with his teeth, behind his back, over his head, and between his legs effortlessly. And, despite playing left handed, he could also play right handed too. Considered by most of the worlds top guitarists to be GUITAR GOD. Changed the face of guitar music. Definitely worth your while looking him up on You Tube. Look to Hey Joe Monterey, Lulu Show Cream Tribute, and Johnny B Goode, Berkeley. Once you have seen Jimi perform you will realise why he is considered to be the greatest guitarist that ever lived. Yes.....I saw him live more than once. I miss him tremendously.
Thanks for the heart Elok. Yes, if you want to know more about Hendrix ask. I was right in the middle of all this music in the 60's, and am now a little old. But I love that you can appreciate, like me, just how good the music was back then. The Jimi Hendrix Experience I last saw at The Victoria and Albert Hall in February 1969. I had seen them many times before, and had seen Jimi when he first gigged in the UK with Cream at Regents Polytechnic in London. Eric Clapton had always thought that Howlin' Wolf's song Killing Floor was too difficult, but that day Jimi wiped the floor with everyone, including Clapton. He just roared through the song. All the usual stuff.....playing with the teeth, behind the back, between the legs, crouching down and humping the guitar on stage. Ha, ha! Even today I still say WOW!! Ginger Baker, the drummer of Cream did not know what the heck was happening, Jack Bruce said WOW, and Eric Clapton stood with his mouth open......he had never seen anything like it. Neither had I!! I think that there are recordings of Jimi performing this on You Tube, and it was a warm up song at most gigs. I loved Jimi and the lads, Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass. This trio was really a one of a kind, with its own sound, never to be seen or heard again in my lifetime so far. When Jimi died I actually wept. The greatest musical loss of an entire generation. He was a genius. Totally irreplaceable. It was a magical time. People ask why the music was so good then. Fundamentally The Beatles raised the standard. The objective of most groups was to at best match The Beatles standard, or to preferably surpass it. But there were so many genres about - rock, pop, motown etc and about 95% of the music was superb. These days we appear to have gone the other way with about 5% being superb and the other 95% rubbish. In those days too an instrument was not a fashion accessory. A musician had to be capable of playing whatever instrument they had, and to play it well. Creating music too was not a synthesiser deck and a push button exercise. Music technology was still in its infancy. You had to be creative and make music. You had to come up with ideas and experiment with sound. Try Norman Greenbaum, Spirit in the Sky. Who would have thought that a distorted amplifier sound could have been used in such a remarkable song. This is just one of many examples. That is why there are so many wonderful sounds in that time. Musicians were highly creative, original, and loved to experiment with sound. They also shared their riffs, sounds, and experience with others to enable them to create and become artists in their own right. I note your liking of The Who. A wonderful group, they were with The Experience at the Monterey Pop Festival. Jimi set fire to his guitar on stage, broke it up and threw it into the audience. Frank Zappa collected all the parts, re-built the guitar, and now Dweezil Zappa, owns it. It was not the first time he had done that. The other time he set fire to his guitar on stage he swung it over his head on fire and nearly set fire to the stage curtains! How do i know? I was there! Try this one too: Steppenwolf, Born to Be Wild. They also wrote Magic Carpet Ride. Another good song. Drummers? Keith Moon of The Who was probably in a group of four best in the world including: Ginger Baker (Cream), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix Experience) and Keith himself. John Entwistle was probably in a group of only three of the best bassists in the world, and in my opinion was the greatest. Watch carefully in Don't Get Fooled Again. See how John comes from the bottom to the top of the guitar with his hand filtering in harmonic triplets right up the scale of the guitar? His style of playing too was unique. Roger Daltrey actually swung the microphone at one time and hit a member of the audience who had been verbally abusing him in the head. The Who also used to smash up all their kit at the end of gigs too, many thousands of dollars worth of equipment, and were banned from many hotels because of Keith (Looney Mooneys) Moon's antics wrecking hotel rooms. ASTONISHING! The Who, now that is a real rock band.
At one time, The Who had the official World record of the loudest Rock band. Again England doesn’t play fair. That is one of THE CLASSIC screams in all of Hard Rock. Rodger Daltrey at full power.
Great reaction Elok, thank you so much for doing this song. It was fun to experience this song again through you. Your responses were outstanding. As you learned, you have now just seen one of the top rock bands of all time. All 4 were characters, . Roger and Pete were such a great writing team. That was very funny about how it’s amazing that Roger hasn’t killed someone yet with the microphone. Lol. I never thought of that but I agree! Glad you enjoyed.
The Who lead singer Roger Daltrey and lead guitar Pete Townsend. Led Zeppelin has Robert Plant and Jimmy Paige. The Rolling Stones has Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Some of the finest all from the UK.
Great to see you finally checking out The Who (or as Roger Daltrey would say: the 'orrible 'oo)! Pete Townshend was such an innovator, exploring the possibilities of guitar feedback before the experimentation of Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix, creator of the "windmill" guitar strum, the first rocker to smash up his guitar onstage, and a writer who was not going to be limited by the traditional three minute pop song format. Also, his aggression displayed here was not an act, as he was known to physically assault people who got up onstage while he was playing. He whacked the political activist Abbie Hoffman with his Gibson SG when Hoffman tried to interrupt The Who's set at Woodstock, and he kicked an off-duty New York City policeman in the testicles when he jumped onstage to warn the crowd that the building next door was on fire! This performance rocks, but Moon the Loon is on a leash, as he is drumming to a click track since the band is using a backing tape to produce the distinctive keyboard parts recorded by Townshend on his ARP synthesiser. If you check out footage of the band's performances at Woodstock in 1969 and the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970, you will be able to watch (and hear) Moon unfettered. Fun video Elok! 🤘
That was said better than I could have said it! What separates The Who from the pack is the live performances, they sound better live than in studio! Raw power in its purest form, now that’s Rock n Roll, Have you ever watched The Kids are Alright, the greatest rockumentary ever, on The Who, I’ve seen it a thousand times and every time feels like the first, Great Reaction!
Thanks again for the genuine and heartfelt reactions. Many of us felt the same when these bands and these songs and these performances were current; I truly feel we were lucky to be young like you when this groundbreaking music was first making the music scene. Please permit me to recommend another band from that era with a unique twist. The band is Chicago (originally called Chicago Transit Authority) and I recommend the song “25 or 6 to 4” and the video from Live at Tanglewood. Please try it I am certain you will enjoy it, otherwise we might just fight! ;)
Great review. They were great live. It's a shame that Keith had declined a little by this time - perhaps if he'd lived, he would have got fit again, but it was never to be.
I enjoy your reactions because you take the time to research information, and then take the time to write a solid review. If you care to hear the isolated bass of John Entwistle it can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/80dsyo2Ox-0/v-deo.html
I’m glad you loved the song and video, but I hope you understand the lyrics. The song is about ignorance and why people vote for people over and over again thinking a positive change will come because of promises that will never EVER be kept.
Baba O'Riley, Who Are You, Behind Blue Eyes, Join Together, Love Reign Oer Me.. the list goes on and on and on..
You are a very wise young woman. Thank you x
i love this song from the who!
Who ?
I saw them in Portland Oregon in 78. Great show.
I saw The WHO in 1981 in Boulder Colorado USA.....Phenominal Live, Super Fun and High Energy Rock N Roll Concert🎸🎸🎸.... 🎸🎸🎸
You young lady are just too cool!
So if you haven't seen Alien, or the next time you watch it be sure to watch for the lasers from The Who in the movie.
that scream and then the slide is one of the most iconic moments in rock history
So true!!
That scream and slide made me steal my dads old guitar and learn. Rocks defining moment.
Great reaction Elok! So glad you love British music and especially the Who playing live (who were amazing when I saw them live in 69 & 71) All the Best Fred (London England)
Yep this was music for my generation back in high school at this time19 70s I’m 67 now
Es la chica " Súper poderosa" simplemente la mejor ❤️🩹. Gracias Elok!!!
Confirmed proof....greatest group ever.....mic drop.
If anyone doesn't like Elok Hsu, we must fight!!!!! #baby claps!!!
You can see why they are at the top of favorite band list of mine )

Same shit.
You should hear The Who's album "Who's next". One of the most important rock albums ever.
You are a sixties rocker ! Great job !
Elok Perfect review to 1 of the best bands ever!
I knew you'd flip when Pete landed that knee slide at the end. Now listen to Love Reign Over Me.
Great reaction Elok. I enjoyed this video and your reaction to it. Thank you.

I saw them in 1980. I never saw a more enthusiastic crowd. The Who did 5 encores. I met John Entwhistle once.
"Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss" are often said to be the best rock and roll lyrics of all time.

R.I.P Keith Moon.
And The Bass player of the millennium
You are right Elok Hsu it is epic and timeless. They sure don’t write ‘em like that anymore ! ✌️
10:01…the feeling when you chose this awesome song and band Elok! Great job as usual!
The amount of triplets Moon plays in this song is amazing for it's time

I was at that concert where they were recorded as the loudest band at Charlton Athletic in1976 ! Amazing band
También Deep Purple tuvo ese récord!!!😅
If you look closely you can see Pete's finger bleeding from his trademark windmill motion guitar playing ❤
It hapenened to him in a cincert that I was at in Tacoma at the end of the show and they had to take him to hospital.
I didn't see it. At what point was this?
In my humble opinion, John Entwistle is the greatest bassist rock has ever seen.
Thank you, this is the greatest rockband ever, please do more
The Who lead singer Roger Daltrey and lead guitar Pete Townsend.
I watched that video for the first time in the movie 'The Kids Are Alright' and actually that was my favorite part :)
I was thinking the same thing. So glad the lighting and cameras captured that moment for all time!!!
Fabulous track, give the album it came from a listen, ‘Whos next’ its phenomenal
I love your reactions!
I see your from Indonesia
I hope they have rock concerts there
Cos you love the music so much
Try Chicago...25 or 6 to 4....at Tanglewood
I second that!
It's said Keith Moon did not play the drums, he attacks them.
Should try Down By the River or Going Home by Neil Young live or again live Cinnamon Girl from Neil Young!!!!
Simply referred to as The Scream, 10:00 is one of the most iconic moments in rock history.
Please try it I am certain you will enjoy it, otherwise we might just fight! ;)
That is a great suggestion!
Hi Elok. How about London Calling by the Clash, or Pretty Vacant by the Sex Pistols? Two great songs that defined Punk Rock in the late 70s.
Hi from the UK and thank you for a very enjoyable review Elok.
Great review. They were great live. It's a shame that Keith had declined a little by this time - perhaps if he'd lived, he would have got fit again, but it was never to be.
Still are great live
The Who were a PHENOMENAL live band..
Another request. Right up your street Elok. STEPPENWOLF: BORN TO BE WILD. Check it out. Anthem of a generation.
Them
Yes.. music today..zzzzzz
