I have been missing you guys. The colour of the cams/rockers tell me that this engine has been serviced well. They would be much darker if not. I like these in depth videos as many people on line are covering the easier aspects of vehicle servicing only. Looking forward to the continuation of this job. Looks like you need more lifts.
the way i love r32,even till today is still myfirst option when i buy my first car
A bit too much with a 3.2 V6 for a first car. Your first car should not be this powerful, but for a second car… 100% yes
My first car was a 2.8 VR6 now I have the 3.2. There's no rule for what a first car must be @@danielfl.9347
Does the replacement timing chain kit come with some "VW" branded antidepressants? It should do.
no happy pill ... just pain around wallet area
LOL 😄
Coming up on 100k miles on mine...dreading the timing chain, My mechanic isn't looking forward to it either!!
That is always the way when you're gonna do a service if an old car :(
What is bad is the price. What is good is that this car will not ask a service for a looong long time :)
How can customers bring vehicles in for work in such a state, at least have an engine bay wash
Long term project , bought it cheap
Amazing content, please keep posting videos. I know it's hard when your working flat out. But we love it.
I used a single mass clutch on my Jetta it came in a conversion kit half the price as the VW/ All this work and parts will far exceed the value of car
very poor design to have to do all this work to replace the timing chain
So glad you guys are back. Always enjoy watching your videos 😊
I pull the ft bumper and whole front radiator assembly when pulling engine I think it saves time due to making everything easier to get to
I'm so glad there are people left willing to pay for keeping these cars in service. You can't buy one new.. For perspective, My neighbour just replaced his car. 2 years old. Lost half a years salary on it. You are doing way better than my neighbour. And this is a way cooler car.
How many miles does this dinger has on the clock?
It’s not that hard to pull the front in service mode.
It’s what we call “internal surface rust”
Complexity of Vdub. 😂😂 Mad love for you passion guys.
Už minule som sa chcel opýtať že v akom jazyku nadávaš :D po tomto videu už viem :D
v rodnom
I respect you for your honest and hard work
man ist der schlecht gepflegt. dem Besitzer gehört sofort das Auto weggenommen
What was the problem 😊
Biggest issue with this and it's a VAG issue in general is they put the timing chains in a bullshit spot for any 6 Cylinder or bigger engine and it makes it a big money job, I think if maintained well though the car will do big mileage the issue is many don't.
The VR6 timing chain looks like a bicycle chain, compared to a Honda K20 engine, which has a much stronger multi-plate timing chain.
Thats a 4 cylinder 2 litre.. this is a 6 cylinder 3.2.. so maybe that's why it needs to be different.. also the k20 also needs changing at some point the chain guides also wear and chain will stretch aswell
It has two chains that’s why k20 has one long chain and a inline 6/vr6 is much more naturally balanced than inline 4
@@jamesdean514The VR6 chain is under more load than the K20 chain too. The VR6's bicycle chain has to operate 24 valves, but the Honda's much stronger and more advanced design chain only has to operate 16 vaves haha 😊
Vtec Yo. 4 cylinder na Fwd is weak.
How often should the timing chain be replaced, how many thousand km?
Chiming in to see if the DMF bolts get replaced ?
No , even gearbox bolts were not tight or wheels not put on because it’s not in the video 😂
Glad to see you guys still going strong 👍🏼
Such great expertise in any VAG issue... well documented..
I need some assistance, but as i'm in Belgium and it's my daily i could not (timely) afford to bring it fo you guys
Is anybody else's name not showing correct in the comments today? Great vid by the way.
Nice to see u guys back. Greetings all the way from South Africa.
well done ,,, big bill heading towards the customer , but the cars still worth decent cash so overall ,, not too bad. Is it not at the point where it would be easier to undo the exhaust and lift the engine out ,,, you worked hard to avoid it ,,, but there does come a point.
Bucket list car for me, im afraid i will get priced out of one by the time i have enough money to buy one
The inevitability of mission creep. Lot of work there. 😮
Kind of a strange question here😂 how are those floor tiles holding up with all the oil etc, dies it get under the floor tiles on the floor?
Glad y’all back. Missed the content💯👊🏿
Funny fact.. I am German and do watch your videos in English and Slovakian since I speak the Czech language 😅😅😅 dobra prace jsem vděčný za každý video
That looks like an expensive bill coming up
looks like a lot of work
it was :D
All of this is why I drive a Fiat Panda, it takes me six hours to replace the timing belt and water pump, and three of those hours is spent searching for a 10mm socket.
ps: there's even enough room to get a torque wrench on the belt tensioner on my Panda - unheard of in my experience.
I love the Panda! What version have you got?
@@aukanmeister It's called a Panda "MyLife", it's one of the last Panda 169 models, it is a pleasure to own 😊.
Does regulator oil changes keep chain and guides in good conditions
Great content !
Have been missing you mates ! Keep up the great work !
Waiting for it😅. Loving it 😊 you started posting 😍.
Now I remember why I love this channel! You guys are VW gurus
Great content and presentation in all of your videos.
As an owner of one I’m terrified now I’m at 180k, I checked the offset in VCDS it was -1kw so I thought it was fine and these cars didn’t fail but damn😭😭
Its all About the oil changes !
Another great informative video and background music 😊 good to have you guys back 👍🏽
Any new hoodies and shirts coming out ?
Thanks ! Check Our website can order them NOW
Nice to see you guy's back online
Great to see you back and prosperous. ;)
Glad your back nice new garage 👍
dobermans are the best dogs
When i have take my intake manifold i didnt lose/remove front end, just remove back engine mount that goes to the bridge and loose a bit other 2 engine mounts and tilt engine a bit, that gives me enough space to remove intake manifold.
Next time
Two days to change a timing chain?
VAG don't do things by half's.
Was on ramp for 5 days 🥲 no parts
Interesting content as always, keep it up
Nightmare job
Sooooooo happy to see you back.
What’s the damage ££?
Happy you're back
How many miles/km on this car? Had to had this repair performed on my 2013 CC 3.6 with only 71k miles ☹️. I got timing correlation codes 😢 and took care of the issue immediately. It was a very expensive repair but I wasn’t going to junk my CC! They performed an amazing job and now the engine works very well! The only problem was that the mechanic failed to put back one of the sway bar bolts and it broke! It didn’t bother me much because it was squeaky and I was planning to replace it anyways, but I didn’t appreciate that the mechanic said he didn’t have to remove the sway bar bolts to change the chain, but in your video it’s very clear you have to do that in order to remove the subframe so you can access the chains from the bottom of the car. Thanks for this video!
62 k this is
@@VAGTechnic Wow! 72k seemed very low to me but my mechanic said he has seen chains fail at much lower mileage! Crazy! I miss the 2.0T’s timing belt! 😅
What a complicated engine all that wrk for a timing chain na il stick to my k20
I had a civic type r and agree it was a absolutely weapon of a car.. but the 3.2 v6 is just on another level.. instant low down grunt.. feels immensely quick amazing sound and I've owned for 8 years with zero issues.. built quality is excellent.. I would compared it to the type r.. the R32 feels superior in every department
Terrific video and channel, would you mind giving a rough cost to do this job please?
check the second video
@@VAGTechnic saw it after I posted my comment. Very good price, I have a mk4 r32 I’ve emailed you about regarding similar job. Thanks
That's not VR6 engine. The VR6 name or title was dropped by VW after the MK3 golf and is only ever relevant to the 12v engines. The MK4 and MK5 engines with 24v were just called V6, as indicated by the badge on the engine cover and some tailgates.
Correct
all normal people refer to this as a VR6, it is more in reference to the one cylinder head, narrow angle V6, never mind what the badge says!
Actually, the VW self-study program (SSP) 360, which covers the 3.2 and 3.6 FSI engines, calls them VR, VR6 and V6. I looked at the 2008 US Passat brochure and they call the six cylinder engine option “3.6 VR6”. But fast forward 2013 and that option is called “V6” in the US CC brochure.
Test
Nice bmw 1290
nice
a lot of expense for an old car hope it’s worth it🤔
not a single repair or any car is worth ... youll never see the money again ... EVER
3.6 better than 3.2?
Yes !
Repair will cost more than car value.
yes, but when you love them just cant let it die :D
Sometimes it does, but it is still worth it as the car will be reliable for years to come after the repair.
Where r u lost

Hi Guys,
Glad that you are back! Always watch your videos with a lot of interest.
Many times I knowtest, after a big diagnosis and teardown of an engine, that the car is, due to take away the subframe, is stuck on the lift. Especially now, when it is getting harder and harder to gain parts and with the chance of parts that are in backorder, that the car stay stuck on the lift for a few days or more. You guys ever thought about buying an forklift so you can take of the car somehow and putt it outside? In that way to make space for an new project so the lift isn’t blocked?
Kind regards from Amsterdam
Hi, we just refit the subframe and push it out
Service mode for a VR6 = remove/move the front valance. Otherwise the intake will be a nightmare to remove & re-install. 😂 In my opinion after many years of owning one, for this job you can add a new clutch & dual mass flywheel, oil seals, water pump, pulleys, crack pipe if it wasn't replaced, themostat, thermostat sensor, engine mounts, serpentine belt with adjuster, remove sump clean it, oil sensor, oil cooler, all gaskets there as well, irridium spark plugs, coils, fuel injectors, the PCV system & coolant flush. Lets call it a major service. Good thing is you can do it every 250k km if you don't drive it like you stole it. The engine will be able to do 1 000 000km if you maintain it properly. I have 195 000km on mine and runs like a dream. The electronics are another issue altogether I will not talk about. 😂. A great video to evaluate your chains empirically via VAGCOM is to check chain timing values, live. IanG has an inciteful video regarding this if you own a VR5/6. PS Replacing the timing chain is a serviceable item on the VR5/6 due to stretch & plastic guides. Also the valve timing if you have a later model (2003 & newer) Apart from that, the internals are good.
now you tell me ? :D
@@VAGTechnicLol. You need extended/long length M12 bolts if I remember correctly. Patiently awaiting your next video to seen the carnage of the guides. Great work BTW & greetings from Auckland & congratulations on the shop upgrades.
There was a serious lack of excitement normally seen in your videos. Watching it, now I know why! I think I’ll stick working on the RS7 rather than working on the R32! Enough money in parts to buy something else. Also a good time to do carbon cleaning. Good thing we love these cars!
April , cold , tired 😀 much better now
@@VAGTechnic you guys never seem to get a break unless you refer to when you shut the shop for the floors and then you worked even harder!!!
