It’s a little ignorant to think that these are slow in standard form until you’ve driven one and driven one hard. For sure by todays standards where every other hatch has a somewhat boring 2.0 4 pot in them they ‘feel’ slow, but actually they just need to be worked really hard and love to rev to the redline. Just the same as other NA cars of the era such as the B7 RS4. There’s a reason these cars are flying up in value and that people choose to buy them over the Golf R and B9 turbo respectively, because the NA cars are so much more rewarding when you drive them how they should be driven. I’ve owned a Stage 2 Golf R, sold it for a MK5 R32 and have 10x more fun in it. They’re so effortless to drive when you want them to be (you can casually go up a hill in 6th because the power is so linear all the way through the rev range) and yet drop them down a couple of gears and they will pull all the way to 7,000+ and sound fantastic when doing so. Exhaust, manifold, filter and a remap will see 270bhp and lots of smiles. Drive a standard one around some B roads on your own, bet you end up loving it.
Never regret having the manual, had loads of fun in mines which I had on an 09 plate. Did think about getting the DSG but couldn’t be asked with all the hassle that came with it. Long live the mk5 r32 😁
Tengo un A3 8p 3.2 manual y ya de serie el cambio es súper corto de relación... Siempre me he preguntado,.. quien lo turba o pone compresor.. Qué cambio de marchas instalan? Porque con más potencia, debe quedar ridículo en desarrollos 😢 Buen video y felicidades al propietario de ese R32 👌😍
@@kanedavenport8419 I would love to turbo mine in the future but talking price I could sell and buy something almost brand new for the end cost. Especially as the value on these cars rise.
How much did all the work cost over a year? Not cheap I bet. Sounds very good not that a normal R32 doesn’t sound good. Brave to do this in a manual too! Good work!👍
The reason I don't want to turbo mine is that the DSG box r glass. Easily broken. I was looking for a super charger but you can't find any here in north America 😒 only turbos. My has full SuperSprint exhaust from Headers back & I love it
7:50 - DSG let u hit whatever gear u want. U need manual mode, and downshift is faster in DSG. Maybe new golfs has it, my MK5 GTI is clever, not as golf 8 (automaticly changing gears in manual mode :D)
Low key and packs a punch 👌🏾 If your considering boosting your 32 and wish to retain the OEM NA exhaust note then a superchargers your best bet but turbo's just in a different league and they still sound epic!!
I'm building a turbo 07K MK6 but I found a MK4 R32 sitting in a driveway and I'm seriously considering getting it but I would supercharge it just because I'm already doing a turbo car
Ive got a R32 Mk5 09 want to boost it. Would love to know the cost and some of to people who can do this build please ,,thanks. Gona look up stealth tunning for the the time being ✌🏻❤️🇬🇧
I've got an 07 mk5, I rang up a few companies they all said 10k-15k to supercharge/ turbo it, I didn't ask if it was a built engine as I was just shocked when they said the price.

Exactly my thought!
Couldn't have put it better myself 👏
We’ll said
100% buddy which is why I just purchased a Mk4 R32 a couple of days ago!
Nice sentimental

The king of all vw golfs 🔥🔥
Nice build! Personally I like my R32s slow and naturally aspirated! The sound is never quite the same with a snail which is a shame.
Its better if its on an external wastegate
@@tomcoxon3520 really? didnt know that, maybe i will consider turbo over supercharger when i build my r32 mk4
Slow 🤣
@@christianfriedrichs it’s not all about speed though.
@Lawrence Garikaiy let me rephrase: "Slow!?"
I drive an R32 myself, they ain't slow! 😉
Nice 👍 we use the 300sxe borg Warner on our mk5 as these engines make a ton of backpressure .
Love this build it’s not pimped out love sleepers
Low key fire this channel🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!!
*The amount of power this is running is crazy its definitely a sleeper* 🔥
A *Sleeper* that can *Wake me up* any day of the week!! 😄 👍
@@tredfxman yes sir 👏👏
Nice clean build 👌
Love that it looks close to stock from the outside. Great build!
Very clean 👌🏽
Very clean car. Boosted oem love that. Great work
Total build cost=?
Lovely, need to swap that cloth out for some buckets.
Classy build 👌great looking car too
That torque in.... i pressume standard gearbox OMgosh
Now this is a real sleeper .
Looks standard but ain’t

Thats an awesome setup and how much did it cost you to get it to that stage? I just love that sound and look of your car.

Sleeper? Thats a beast
Manual box on any car I buy. Any dsg box will give up before a manual. Ive just bought a manual r32 mk5, so pleased. Need a turbo 🤪
Interesting theres not been any suspension mods or brake upgrades. Fair play for building to how he wants, must have cost a fortune to turbo.
I own one and I inquired about supercharging/turboing it, you're talking 10k plus
@@kanedavenport8419 I assume you mean Pounds
@@thegreat0220 Yes, Sorry I should of stated
@@kanedavenport8419 this level of build would have been closer to 15-20k. a head spacer engine like I had will set you back £10k+

i still fancy a boosted dsg mk5, i owned a supoercharged mk3 vr6 and a supercharged mk4 r32. miss the vr6 motor!
Really awesome car
Would look good with my bros R30 TWO plate on it that’s potentially up for sale. Also in Cambridge
What a beauty
Doesn’t sound as good as the standard one

These turbo kits usually cost anywhere in the region of £10k-£15k
Then add cost of forged engine
Am sure that price includes forging between £10k-£15k
Total build cost =?

Golf R mk8 does not auto up shift in Nurburgring and probably not in race mode yet i don’t drive it in that mode.

Christ this guy loves his erms...
Erm pardon
Great looking car! Very clean.
Typical sound is gone.
I thought this. I saw one out on the road earlier today that sounded amazing. This one is very muted in comparison. Even more sleeper though! 👍🏻
The blue hoses got to go
Wish he would elaborate more on the difference between turbo and supercharged
You should get one :D
Love it one day I will do mine
Thats two R32's you've featured recently Luke!!
Just saying 😉
‐ Nice car btw, im hoping to get mine boosted in future !!
Fully forged and only 470bhp? I’d be pushing that to 600bhp+ but he does appear to be more sensible than I am.
How long will the drive train last. Lol

Nice to see you got Adrian Lewis on the channel 😂
The “erms” were really annoying
Should’ve kept it under wraps for a while, would have loved shocking people in this car. 🤷♂️
Once you've done a Mk5 R32 you can't resist another...
Luke the music is ????
Name please pal
Bummer that he wants to put an automatic in.

AAAA AAAA
Great video but would be nice to see some car owners actually drive there cars how they should be drove. 🤦♂️
More of a waker than a sleeper
You're gonna want those bigger brakes man, trust me.
Have you act drove one of these? The breaks are massive from factory.
@@nathanwarner6577 I also have a boosted R32, yes.
Nope they are perfect from the factory. I know firsthand. I have a fully built turbo with 550bhp.
doesnt sound good like that. revert it back to NA
