For those wondering, right after watching this video, we did this to our chairs, which were even more chalky that these in the video. It is AMAZING the transformation. Thanks for posting this!
So I took your idea and upgraded it to a propane attached hose. Bigger flame and faster melting. Holy shit. You cannot tell the difference!! It looks brand new. Thank you! My 25$ Craigslist find paid off!
Was just going to throw out my chairs. Decided to paint them and then seen this....Are you kidding me??? This is so much fun. Were drinking beer and laughing our butts off as I torch my chairs. LOL
Great video. I make a lot of things out of PVC plastic pipe and use a heat gun to form parts. With that being said I would like to try a heat gun on a chair since they are simular materials. Only problem is... I don't have the chairs.. Poor me 😔. Wonder if the neighbors will let me experiment on theirs? When using fire, how does areas of staining and discoloration come out?
Yea...I like it... I think maybe with a flared torch end the finish might be more even. I saw another guy demonstrate this with a round torch and like you did...hmmm...
Brilliant! I just tried it and it worked great! Did you think of this on your own? Thanks for posting this video. Next time I might try a nozzle that spreads the flame of the torch wider to get a more even spread of heat and slightly smoother finish when done, but this worked great. I wonder if a heat gun would also get hot enough.
Looks great! I am going to go home today and break out my torch and renew mine. I cleaned them yesterday and they still look bad. Question; did you add that cup holder yourself? Have a tutorial on that as well that you can share?
This process worked MUCH better than WD40 - I used an electric heat gun. However, mid season they've returned back to yuck - I was hoping to get a year out of them. Any suggestions on how to make this process last? Also, how many times can you repeat this process?
Anyone know if this helps to restore chairs that have become brittle due to exposure to the elements. From what I see it looks amazing as far as making the appearance better, but does it help restore the flexibility of the pvc as well?
This will only restore the cosmetic aspect of the plastic furniture. Fire / flame cannot magically restore the actual structural component. Once the sun has leached the plastic sufficiently there's no turning back. Folks make the mistake of not covering outdoor plastic furniture (or bringing the items indoors) because plastic is "sturdy and lasts forever". Also people just toss it and purchase more without really caring that plastic doesn't decompose .

Here's an idea to keep it from doing that again hit them with clear coat

Well done! I saw this done in a clip on Instagram, and had to confirm that it was a real thing before torching my own chairs!
same here 😅
Did you torch them then?
@@Silver_lad I did. They look good. Almost like new.
@@MichelangeloFlores I did with mine as well, but they turned out to have some white stripes

Wow, great results! Just what I need, thanks for sharing!
Thank you! We just did it on our chairs. They look brand new.
Holy crap! just tried this and it worked PERFECT!!! I used to use tire shine spray but no more!!! THANK YOU!!
This worked great! thanks for making the video.
Wow useful ideas😊👍🏻
Amazing! Thanks!!
How about strength of chairs. Does it also improve or not ❤
Pretty cool
awesome trick

They do this at baseball stadiums but with a bigger flame. I heard what it does is bring up the oils not burning it.

Did you not see those viral videos of it? Plastic stadium chairs
What kind of gas does this torch use? What's the name of this torch?

Great idea. I have white ones though and I need to clean them. They’re made by “Rubbermaid” and they have dirt scorched into them from the sun.
Good luck! Power wash them hard!
Nice

Thanks - just did it with a heat gun and repaired a crack with a glue stick
What watt heat gun would work?
Can I use an electric heat gun, or does it have to be propane one?
I would have done that well away from the house - accidents do happen - take care 😇

Did you previously wash the fired-chair or just go for it?
Power washed

Excuse me . What is the name of this product?
Turn the gas off. It's all I hear. But, really a great 💡💡💡
How long does it last?
Same as original assuming conditions are similar.
Well hot darn.
Melted the cup holder closed though :(
Next time put it on the ground not a wood deck🤔
Why not just use a heat gun on the high setting instead of an open flame.
Because of the open flame. Why take the fun out of it
Did you try it?
heat gun would work too!
How many watt heat gun would work?
Huh!
Seriously your doing this on a wooden deck??? DUH 😐
