    What’s weirder is that I don’t think parents or grandparents usually decide or start the decision on whether or not their child skips a grade.all the do is allow it if the school propose the idea. So why are they acting like the grandpa just said ‘nope no more kindergarten for you, go to the last year of middle school now’

    • @USA_UNITED1776
      @USA_UNITED1776 2 роки тому +25

      No parents usually consult the child, or don't, and then decide to get good enough grades and learn material ahead, the grades that you can skip easily are six seventh and eighth, because they are almost just repeats of fifth and kids who learn fast will have no trouble.

    I knew the closest real thing to this kid. Skipped straight to 2nd grade at 5, went from 5th straight to 8th, etc. Pretty sure he had a doctorate before I was in college.
    But he had it rough, man. Kid could solve first order differential equations at 8 and spell any word he'd seen once, but his free writing was abysmal because it takes time and experience. Couldn't keep up in PE, had trouble playing on the playground, more socially awkward than I, even.
    But I write all this to say that states have graduation requirements, and most colleges have hard limit to how young they'll take you. He had to do 2 years of high school for the credits and another before the university would allow him to attend.

    From 8th grade I had the option to test out and start college. My mother thought it would mess me up socially to not do high school. I did end up testing out after 10th grade. This video August is covering is atrocious, but it is true that this a pretty normal thing to skip grades. Being “gifted” and having adults say “the student is too bored, they need a challenge” is pretty normal.

    I don't even know why they want him to graduate THAT early, like if you skipped high school you would be 14 since you just finished middle school, and he said he went straight to college, impossible. You can't get accepted into college until age 17. Do they just want him to stay home three years or get job, what is the goal here?
