Very Very helpful - thankyou . Im also interested to know how to set the default access when a new document is added . So I add it with a more restricted access level but can then decide I also want to give access to a wider group . This allows the team managing the site to freely add things knowing its protected but for some items they can then selectively allow a wider group to see and either just view or also edit
Well presented - and a helpful video - thanks for sharing. For the sites i have created (on Office 365 tenants) i have been using the Azure AD Security groups rather than SharePoint Groups to restrict access to document folders. Does it make any difference or is one recommended over the other? Thanks
Hello sir, please make video on career growth in SharePoint as a engineer. Ex. What are different roles Future scope Salary ( package) Requirement of technology in the market. Thank you.
Really excellent content!! A question arises: if a list row contains a field with mail, how would the flow be to dynamically assign permissions only to that same user so that he/she is able to view and edit only that list item?. Of course there are same users in several rows/list items. A good permissions level definition and a Power Automate flow with "Apply to each" action then a "Grant access to an item or folder" using the ID field containing the mail address might be good approach but i really would like any ideas or suggestions well detailed from you. Thanks!
please answer my question: in my site permissions I only see visitors, members and owners group, why can't I see the groups for the unique libraries which I also created in the main site permissions???
Thanks for your comment. I believe your site structure Site A >>> Site B (So inside Site B you are not seeing the permission from site A) if this is happening then go to site permissions of Site B and then inherit the permissions. If you are facing some different issue then kindly elaborate.
Hi, there is query regarding permissions. I want to grant permission to multiple members for a excel file but the requirements are like 1. Users cannot delete file 2. Users can do only update without affecting previous changes. Mean to say; user can't modify previous changes but can update by putting value in new cell. Please guide me on this if it is acceptable.
I am making a site where I can add individual employee documents such as pay stubs, personal info, etc. I have the folders setup but want to make sure I only share each employee's folder with the specific person and not the entire group. I think I would setup a site that everyone can access and have the main folder accessible to everyone. Then inside the main folder I have a folder for each employee and I just share that specific folder with each person?? Is that the best way?
Thanks for your comment. This is one way to do thing but I wont suggest if the information is very confidential and you can not take risk to have any human error. Because with this approach there are high chances of messing up the permission as you will be breaking permission at the second folder for each employee. I have done this kind of permission breaking thing but we did it through PowerShell. Btw how many employees data you want to hold?
how to restrict access to site collection for admins or site owners , for instance Audit Department Site contains sensitive data and info which should not be accessed on by Audit members , not even SharePoint site collection admin or farm admin or owner can access and view the contents , how to do that , for on premises SharePoint 2019 for instance?
there was a mistake by a owner he removed all other owners and users from right corner members and removed it one by one. now other users are unable to access their old folders how to get them back?
I have a parent folder "Parent" under my SharePoint DOC library. I have three files say file1, file2 & file3 inside the "Parent" folder I want to give access to user1, user2 & user3 for file1, file2 & file3 respectively (say unique permissions) finally, i want to share the link of the "parent" folder to user1, user2 & user3 in such a way that each user will see only their respective files. e.g if user1 receives link of the "parent" folder only file1 will be visible to user1 and the same applies for user2 & user3. I tried this by stop inheriting at “Parent” folder level and grant unique permissions at file level. However, users were able to view all the files irrespective of unique permissions at file level. Please advise to achieve the intended result. Thanks in advance
