He is a super nice guy me and my son were launching the boat at a place we never launched, and he gave us tons of info about the area. He also gave me 4 of his new bumpers. It's definitely a guy and product we should support.
Great idea about the Spin-n glow. I've lost a few, and some I didn't want to even try to retrieve on Hwy 4 (comes from years of bass fishing) I've a serious collection of electric tape and countless rocks wanting to get wet in the Columbia, but that is a neat setup. I use 8-10lb line to my pet rock rock for break off purposes. Plunking is relaxing...and nothing gets me up from a deep sleep other than a good ringing of a plunking bell.
If ur plunkin for salmon....I've used my madkatz rod ...it's a hd catfish rod tho.... I can sling up to 16oz on that....its good for plunkin, crab snaring, and obviously catfishin 😊
Have a question for you brotha. The weight gets hung up in the rocks are you gonna lose the whole setup? The rig is stronger than your braid. What's your thoughts?
Bad design, definitely should use like 10-15lb test as a dropper. I thought the same thing. Granted on a lot of the lower Columbia beaches there aren’t many snags but there are definitely some.
If you are fishing sand . The coldwater dropper is perfect . If your fishing rocks take a 10” 15lb leader and tie it to the original dropper on his bumper
Incorrect. You use rounnd cork bobber same like you rig spin n glo...the ratio of leader to bobber to herring is 60:40. Bobber part is a tad bit longer and herring/anchovy/brad's cut plug/prawn soinners can all be plunked. I have and caught fish....just other day it didn't stuck...could gave been my first keeoer if 2024. Still early here in Oregon. I'm sure you know this but your statement is incorrect. If you still dont undesttand...I can take pics of couple of my rods which arw rigged that way.....I even put a size 4 or 5 blade on top of my herring when plunking. There's never enough bling 😁 Tight lines my friend.
Hey Alex, just wondering how you decide to plunk vs fishing from boat. I’ve never plunked and think it would be like a laid back kinda of fishing. With kids and dogs playing and a picnic or grill or something. Or just hanging out reading or yakking with friends while the line is doing it’s work. Am I on the right track with that thinking?
If more than 3 people want to fish I plunk, if I’m tired of spending money on boat gas , I plunk . Lol sometimes I have limited time so I plunk . That’s basically it
Plunking is in my opinion the most effective way to fish for steelhead and salmon. Specially in lower tributaries mouths. One you just get to sit back and enjoy two it's basically like fishing for trout And I myself really don't use spinglows. I use, ancient American secret squirrel. Or just plain bait's no nothing but a lead, drop and a Two foot leader.. what I can tell you is! I've seen those mad river artificial worms do a good job on steelhead. And the Old school spin byrdies. Which you'll never find. AND I myself only use one leader One hook The fishing odds are the same.

Very informative 👍👍
Any suggestion for a 11’ spinning rod that would do the trick at a reasonable price ?

Could you do a video on how to rig a plunking setup with a bobber using herring?
if you are bobber fishing then your not plunking. vise versa!
