I've been a fighter early early testing, and gave it up for warlock and wizard. I've been on a solid losing streak it was painful. This brought be back into fighter and honestly got me back into the groove of it. Using shields more often rather then for basic spell blocks and stats. Thanks for the video helped me honestly improve.
awh, such an awesome comment, thanks for letting me know -- love to think these vids help get more melee in the dungeon, since I think hack&slash gameplay is the most fun!! good luck this wipe :)
yeah feels like people prefer the 'easy way' move speed builds because they don't need to 'gamble' on netcode and perceived shield blocking unreliability.. but the shield is actually reliable in 95% of situations, you just have to relearn how to 'see' the game.. most folks just don't want to put in the work! so more space for us Board Members to mop up!! haha
There's a definite progression in your skill base with that build well done, especially using your sidearm bow to chip away. More confidence, definitely noticeable!
Oh man, that string of Ls was brutal. Thanks for including them still for us to learn from! Do you find that tilt is a thing in Dark and Darker top level play? I've felt it creeping in a couple times, but less than other games.
sometimes I def succumb to tilt, and load up on epic gear after a bad beat, only to then get ganked and lose that gear haha -- but I also feel like luck has a big part to play too.. sometimes you just don't get the hits you need to win. wait, or is that also a skill issue :) just gotta keep trying!
Of course. Tilt is a thing in every game. I do agree that it is lesser in this game, though. I don't know. I guess it's because I don't really place and importance on the ranks. Who really cares about being demigod? You know? And gear really is transient. You only get your turn with it and that's part of the fun of the game.
I think the lack of such strict gear dependence helps too. If you go vs Class 5 armor with an entry level gun/ammo in Tarkov you have virtually no chance, so it can be very tilting to lose your gear and feel like you've "fallen to the bottom". Zero to hero/Self found playstyle is way more viable in DaD. I find myself often not even looking at the market unless my stash is full.
oh that's so awesome to hear! most people don't play with the darkness, but it can be SUPER EFFECTIVE! stick with it and keep me posted on your progress!!

I see a good number of rouges in the lobbies but I run into them sparingly. One guy hid behind some boxes at that rope exit in the goblin caves and got me omw out. That was annoying. Rogue is NASTY rn in solos. It’s not the rouge player’s fault though because this is just the most effective play style. it is an unfortunate symptom of how the class is designed rn, and it is a lot less effort for IM to buff/nerf the class super hard wipe after wipe than do an entire redesign of how rogue’s hide and ambush and damage abilities work

FYI for hilt blocking, you don't get normal stagger windows off them. The attacker's stagger window will be the same as if they hit a wall, which is quite short. I'm not 100% what the defender's stagger window is. I have a very clear clip of morning star vs heater shield hilt blocks causing a medium stagger on the heater shield and a very short stagger window on the morning star. This means that while hilt blocks will stop a combo, they aren't going to give you a free hit vs the other guy in every case. It really sucks for gameplay that it works this way. If hilt blocks caused a weapon to be treated as having an impact power of 0, players would be rewarded for pulling them off. The round shield sucks because it has worse stats and size than the other shields, and that's boring. Even if a highly skilled barb tried a shield build and hilt blocked every opponent they came across, they wouldn't get to trade a hit out as a reward for blocking perfectly. It does mean that the perfect block is more useful than I previously thought tho lol

It's a month after you posted this comment and I think the game is in a better spot now. I'm also new to the game and in sub 25 Gear score lobbies most of the time you can just avoid fights. New players are just in there to loot. I also tend to play in duos or trios tho, so having team play can really help level out skill differences if you all pile one opponent (my duo and trio friends are new as well). I think the point I'm getting at is to try to stick to the sub 25 lobbies or the 25-124 lobby so it's not upsetting if you die. Pick 1 or 2 weapons to try and master and get used to since it seems like there are many viable builds. I've been loving the game, even when we get clobbered lol

Cool video. High roller pvp really sucks, I'm finding. I haven't been playing that long, but every time I go into high roller, no one is geared. I'm the most yolked out dude in there with like... a 1000 gold kit. Drop into uncapped norms though? Holy shit, some of those people are running kits worth all the gold I've made so far after like 80 hours. I think squire to high roller might be kinda outdated. It really should be squire to uncapped norms.
At 23:00 the spear is actually really good and would have sold for a lot. I believe the rogue killed a druid and took their spear, spellbook, and gloves which might have been worth taking. You took the best peices of his gear, but is there any reason you didnt take anything from his inventory other than heals?
because I was stunned to even get the kill, and didn't want to be in the open in the jail module.. I'm actually lucky I didnt stay longer because that Barb was already coming up on me! soooo much easier to consider the loot from a non-combat perspective -- but in that situation I am near-blinded by adrenaline and was happy to grab anything and go (keep in mind I still had the druid's BIS in my backpack and wanted to avoid any further PvP if I could!)
I'm not gonna lie that rogue after the druid hr kill was a little suspect. When he came back around 21:23 and knew exactly where you were in complete darkness, I just don't know how a person who isnt cheating finds you there.
IDK it kind of just looked like he wanted to light up the sus dark spot and instantly threw his torch and armed to fight... I would have done the same thing. Been wearier of the dark and have been using it to my advantage more too.
I think they just suspected I would be in the dark because I was in the dark in that module previously :) nothing nefarious on my radar, and thankful to have come away with the dub!
DaD works in seasons, where there is a wipe to start (all player stashes are erased aka 'wiped') and everyone starts with nothing. the season progresses and players complete quests to unlock better crafting and other rewards. towards the end of the season (aka. the end of wipe), players have access to very strong gear, which makes this kind of squire-to-HR run increasingly difficult, because I'm only farming for 2 raids in normals before being forced to fight fully geared players using a very average kit :) hope that helps!
there's SO MUCH for the devs to consider on a fundamental level, and sadly I don't think any of it is on their radar. "it's just how the game works" and making fundamental changes get harder to do as more players come to rely on/expect those mechanics. so while I'm hopeful for ongoing improvements, I'm also not going to hold my breath for anything :/
@@DD-zh4by huh?! you cant do landmine with warlock. I have literally entered HR lobbies full of nothing but rogues because that's the meta now. Warlocks may be versatile, but they arent broken. I kill plenty of warlocks and been killed many times as a warlock, but when I use my rogue I can see the difference in armor pen and speed so rogue is a broken class. The most powerful warlock solo cant stand a chance versus the most powerful rogue solo. Heck even if you pin squire gear rogue vs warlock rogue still cooks. People that cry about warlocks are so dishonest because any extended fight with a warlock usually ends with them dying to their own curses lol I play warlock main for the challenge of balancing health and spells, not because its broken or OP. I play warlock class as main in every game I play even WoW lol its not cuz is good, I jus like the mechanics.
@@MRDUALITY respect for warlocks! agree that these days rogues are more difficult to play against, mostly because the TTK is brutally short. at least vs a warlock there is a chance for a fight (plus I've adjusted my build to give me some tools to combat them, dagger/buckler, oil pots, etc). with landmine rogues, if I miss my first block I'm usually dead :) but that's how the class is supposed to work! people just don't like dying to something they can't imagine a counter-play to. thanks for watching!

@@YourBoyBlinn Oh ok, I see. Thanks!
When is the new wipe guys
hold your horses, I've got a bunch of fancy gear in my stash I need to waste first!! haha
Likely late august/early september. It's usually 3 months per wipe and we are about halfway through.
They need to remove bunny hopping!
there's SO MUCH for the devs to consider on a fundamental level, and sadly I don't think any of it is on their radar. "it's just how the game works" and making fundamental changes get harder to do as more players come to rely on/expect those mechanics. so while I'm hopeful for ongoing improvements, I'm also not going to hold my breath for anything :/
you're truly inspiring))
hey thanks so much!!
rogues ruining the game
lol spoken like a warlock player who doesn't see that they're the ones actually ruining the game.
I play warlock class as main in every game I play even WoW lol its not cuz is good, I jus like the mechanics.
definitely noticing more and more rogues as we get deeper into wipe! they are tricky little dudes, but beatable with a couple of clutch blocks >:)
@@DD-zh4by hehe don't want to wade too far into this convo!
