The lens shift actually works pretty well. Its not extremely sensitive, but for the most part it gets the job done. Ultimately what you want to do is get the projector and the screen almost exact then use the lens shift to fine tune it.
Yea, a low profile one will work best. Also if you have floating ceilings you can recess the mount above them a little and build a support above the ceiling out of wood and attach the mount to that. Doing so will allow you to put the projector even closer to the ceiling.
I got it at Best Buy. They were running a deal and then I got money back through my credit card company. I used it a little, but just for a little adjustment. Overall it lined up pretty easy. But it is definitely a nice feature to have to get that 'perfect' alignment!
No problem! If you have any other questions let me know! Wow thats exciting! You will love it! And personally I don't even like going to the movie theater anymore! Much better! Good luck!
Hey, it is about 12 feet from the wall. The closer you put it the less bright you need to make it, which saves your bulb! Also 12 feet is good for a 120 inch screen! If you have a bigger screen you have to put it further away. Let me know if that answered your question!
@David Vargas You can hook up cable. What you would want to do is put the video out straight into the projector and then the audio out into a receiver. you can also do a hdmi straight from you cable box to your receiver (if possible) and then hdmi out of your receiver to the projector! basically there are a few ways! if you have any other questions let me know!
I am jealous of your HUGE viewing space! I have about half to 2/3rds of what you have, what I wouldn't give for that room for seating. I have a Panasonic PT-AR100u projector, but in retrospect probably should have bought the Epson for is reported slightly better black levels.
Thanks! Honestly I have never had any problems with lag! Everything runs very smoothly! Now that doesn't mean that there in't a possibility of you getting a defective unit, resulting in such an issue, but that is always a possibility. If you have anymore questions, let me know and I would love to help!
Hmmm, well we actually purchased this screen really cheap. I bought it on amazon and I think their system was messed up because normally it was 170 or so and for some reason it went down to 30...and free shipping! So honestly for the price its not bad! :P But thanks so much for the suggestion! :) And thanks so much! By the way I checked out your channel and I saw your speaker lights, they are a really cool invention! ;)
Where'd you get it for 1K? Everywhere I'm checking is $1100+, but a $100 savings would be nice... Also, did you rely on lens shift to align the screen? I'm not sure if I really need Lens shift
I would go with the 710hd. First off it is newer model of the two. It is brighter and if you buy it on Amazon, its cheaper. Now the only thing is, if you are going to watch Bluray movies, it will not look as clear as if you got the Epson 8350. The 710hd is only 720p while the 8359 is 1080p. But between the two, the 710hd would be my choice.
Hey, I noticed that your projector is mounted close to your ceiling. I have a low ceiling in my basement and I am looking for a short mount for my 8350. Where did you get yours? Great setup btw.
Hi nice setup , is there any lag frame rate issue with this projector ? I was going to buy the epson projector 3010 but saw a huge lag issue in the shops it was hooked up component . The 8350 dont have this issue ?
Hello, I love this projector! The only problem that I have run into really isn't a big deal to me, but the lens shift is a little touchy. Otherwise I would highly suggest you purchasing it! It is a great buy for the money! Good Luck!! Let me know if you have any other questions!
Is that 12 feet from the lens to the wall or from the back of the projector to the wall. Reason i ask is because 1 extra foot is like an extra 20 inch screen size. Im gonna get this projector and my wall is just over 12 feet away
I have a 12 X 11 room with 8 ft drop ceiling. I am thinking of 100 inch screen. Max distance I can have projector hang is at about 11 ft from wall. Do you thing 100 inch screen is too big for the room?
Yes it can. But the further you place the projector away from the screen you will loose quality. There are still the same amount of pixels, but they are more spread out.
Thanks for the help bro. I needed the exact measurements for the theater room to plan is out precisely. So now I know I can get at least a 110" screen in the room. I should have my room finished in a month or so. Nothing to crazy I am doing everything myself. Its gonna run me about 3000.00 Im excited. Does it really feel like a movie theater when your watching movies that big?
Very nice room! I'm in the process of setting up my theater room to and I was wondering how far away did you mount your projector on the ceiling? And how high is your ceiling? My room is 21X21
Hey natedog. I'm thinking of possibly buying this projector. Do you still enjoy it? Any issues you are running into? Your thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Here is an article that should explain the solution: www.ebay.com/gds/Understanding-the-Differences-between-LED-LCD-and-DLP-Projectors-/10000000177630814/g.html
I am considering purchasing this item used but it has a new lamp, I am wanting to use it for outside viewing which will typically be in evening hours. I am wondering about the sound though, I won't have a theatre home system outside, but can I plug in with audio cables just a nice set of speakers I have? I am not seeing anything of it having RCA jacks
What will you be playing the movie off of? Because normally you would run all of your equipment (DVD player, Xbox, cable box, etc) straight into a receiver. Then from the receiver you would run one cable (HDMI, component, or s-video) straight into the projector. Just think of it this way, the projector only provides the video signal (picture) and then you need some sort of receiver/amplifier for the sound. I hope this was helpful and if you have any other questions please let me know! -Nate
About how many feet do you sit away from your screen? Im thinking about upgrading my home theater to a projection sysytem but im worried i may sit too close (13ft) from a 120 inch screen
I am anywhere between 15-17 feet away. But my friend has the same size and he sits about 10 feet away and it looks fine! So I think you should be alright, but at the end of the day its personal preference. Good luck!
Ok thanks! I'm just wondering because all of the home theater professionals I've talked to from different companies say that from my distance of 13 feet they think even an 80 inch screen would be the max to get the best viewing experience. I've always doubted them though cuz that seems way too small for a projector.
I just got one. I tried to set it up today, but I wasn’t aware that you can’t hook speakers directly to it. It doesn’t have any audio out port. You have to buy another piece, which is what I’m waiting on now. The picture still seems really good though
@@freethrow62 same here, except I got extremely lucky and got mine for free. I was able to hook a sound bar to it via Bluetooth. I will never not have a projector as my main tv from now on
Yeah, I would say that 100 inches is a little too big. I have 120 inches and my seating is about 17 feet away. So with that said you might want to go smaller otherwise you have to turn your head to see the screen. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Like @ralongoria3 said you need to run the ps3 through the receiver. So the setup should look like this: HDMI out of PS3 to HDMI in on the receiver, then HDMI out of receiver to HDMI in the projector. Let me know if you have any other questions!
+Cole Hintermeister I've read online that it is the gears inside the unit. However, I have also read that unplugging it for a minute or so seems to do the trick! Sorry for the delay in response!
+X7natedog No problem! It hasn't actually broken yet, but has happened a few times since then. I've been away, as well, so I haven't been the primary user for a while. Thanks for the reply though! Greatly appreciated(:
WaffleNova I'm not sure of the exact size it can go up to. But like most projectors, the larger the screen, the further you will need to put the projector from the wall, which will most likely lose some quality. So when you are installing your projector, just keep that in mind. Try to put it as close as possible to keep a nice crisp image! Good luck!

Find the center of the room for the screen. And then find the center for the projector! And for up and down movement thats when the lens shift helps. But you want to make sure to get it almost perfect before doing the lens shift. Honestly it just takes some time and patience! Let me know if you have any other questions!
hello, i got this projector from best buy for $390, from a bestbuy that was closing down. It is on sale for $799 but then it was open item so they took like 60% off or something brining the final price down to $390 1372995 is the SKU. go to google and write list of closing best buy's and search for one in your area, if your luckly you might find one closing near you. Good Luck.
@awmonkeybizzness Hey, it would not allow me to put the link in the comment, so I will send you a message containing the link. I have floating ceilings so I was able to make it as close to the ceiling as I wanted! I attached two 2x4s from the studs above and measured how close I wanted the projector to be to the ceiling, This allowed me to have it really close! If you have any other questions let me know! Thanks, subscribe!

It is holding up well! It really depends on how much you use it!
Thanks for the link and the info o how you got it so close. Makes perfect sense.
Thank you for uploading this! I get so tired of looking for products just to find a stupid video of the info on the box and a link to amazon.

nice room
can you hook up cable with that also. me and the wife want one, but we don't know if you can hook it up
With 100" you can have the projector anywhere from 9'3" to 15'1" from the screen.
@billtaylor315 Yupp thats what I gave him the link for! Love it! Thanks for the comment!
Very nice setup and helpful review. Do you mind sharing what projector mount you used for the 8350?... Thanks

Can this projector project any bigger sizes if so, how much bigger without losing quality ?
How do you get the sound to work?
Very nice room! I'm in the process of setting up my theater room to and I was wondering how far away did you mount your projector on the ceiling? And how high is your ceiling? My room is 21X21
How is the bulb holding up? Can i trust it to last atleast 2 years?
Thanx for posting...:)
Is it best to mount the projector on the highest or lowest notch?
There are no speakers on the projector. You will need to connect the ps3 through a receiver for sound.
A little less than 8 feet. Thank you very much!
Hey natedog. I'm thinking of possibly buying this projector. Do you still enjoy it? Any issues you are running into? Your thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks!
