We use a less expensive projector when we going camping to watch football games or just give the kids something to watch away from the adults around a camp fire without worrying about something expensive getting broken. Its not meant to be perfect but it gets the job done!
I bought one of the Aukey projectors about 5 years ago to enable my friends and I to watch movies whilst on holiday. I was never expecting anything spectacular out of it given the price but I've found that it serves the purpose perfectly well. We don't particularly need fantastic image quality for our use case and since we're normally using it late at night it doesn't have to be especially bright either. Overall, if cheap and cheerful is what you're after, then I think it's money well spent. Cheers for the video, it's nice to see the other options with a similar price.

Great video. I think introducing an affordable projector say under $200 or so in a home that loves movies but are not quite sure whether to pull the trigger on investing $1500 - 3000 is brilliant. Most of us want to experience it first to see if it is similar to a theater and we can compare it to our current 55 - 75" flat screens.
@Bastian De Vos I purchased a WiMiUS K7 projector, and it works great. It doesn't work in a room that is bright. It must be dark like most cheaper projectors. I can make the screen 6ft x 10ft placing the projector about 12ft away. I also purchased a Bestisan 100-watt soundbar that works with Bluetooth. It is quite an experience for about $400 or so. Do I want to jump up to a better projector? Yes, but I will wait for the laser projector to come down some. Plus, I think the audio is just as important so $1500-2000 projector needs $1500-2000 Receiver / full home theater speakers. But $400 today is 80% of $5000 system.

This turned out to be more interesting than I expected. I personally think the quality of an emissive screen (i.e., a regular TV) is so much better than a projected image that the great majority of the time the TV is the better choice, even if you have to sacrifice a little in the way of screen diagonal. (You can always sit a little closer.) But that said, there are obviously times when you need a screen size that only a projector can give you. (The most obvious case being having a bunch of friends over.) It's good to know that for a few hundred dollars you can have an adequate-if-not-great projector and screen for the occasional movie night, emphasis on "night."

If you use cheap Chinese projectors sporadically (once or twice a month) you're good for a few years but everyday? Projector lens filter will burn out in less than 9 months. I started with an $89 dollar Amazon Days Deal to use out on the deck. Well it was to cold so my set it up in the office/den and it wasn't bad and best of all my wife liked it. I said "it can be better" and bought a $229 projector and a new screen. After watching about 250 movies I said, "this can be better". Since we watch a lot of movies and very little television we went for a better projector and ended up with an Epson Pro Cinema 4050. WOW, is all I can say and my wife loves it. Next will be a new Dolby 5.1.4 Atmos system. It all started with a $89 Amazon Days Deal.
Thank you, i was waiting on a good budget projector, Man sometimes we just don; have the money for a $500.00 and up projector, but i still have your recommendation for the Optoma HD27, when i get the money,
Optoma HD27 and ACER H6521BD are both great 1080P projectors - they also have a low latency 120Hz mode built in. Can highly recommend for a beginner home theater setup.
Just ordered Wanbo Mini for $70 Will do some basic testing on gaming and HD movies but I don't expect much out of them if a $2000+ Laser Projector won't satisfied you then this sure as hell won't. I like cheap projectors as they tend to bring people in to try out a cheap big display alternative to TV. Good thing I just want one for extra display as I'm running out of space to place a TV on a set of furniture.
Man, they are really gouging the prices of these projectors right now, probably because it's summer time. The Vivbright mentioned in this video went up from $199 with a $30 coupon to $269 with a $30 coupon. So effectively went from $170 to $240; a $70 price increase in just two months. There was another projector that I was eyeing earlier this weekend. On Friday it was $239 with a 60% off coupon, so almost $150 off, total of $95.6, now today on Sunday, it's the same price but the coupon went down to $100 off, so $139 total. That's a $45 price increase in just two days!!! I also feel like these huge coupons are kind of a scam too. Makes it throw off what your perception of the actual price is. Also makes it harder to track on price trackers like Honey.

They're fine for anime if you're a broke college kid but I'd recommend looking for a used projector. I bought a second-hand one from an office that was shutting down six years ago that I still use for my PS3.
Excellent review from a person whose reviews I trust! I've always wanted YOUR take on these inexpensive Amazon/Walmart projectors. Mahalo for this video!
Little side question if I may: what are your thoughts on projecting onto a white woodchip wallpaper wall? Does it make a noticeable difference compared to investing into a canvas built for this?
I say try the bare wall first, you've got nothing to lose. I have pimply drywall and it's good enough for me. (My thermostat is also in the way when I'm projecting 120".) If I want a better projector in the future, then I'll pair it with a nice screen.
Its great to see how far projectors have come. I haven't bought one in probably 15 years. The quality of that one is probably like a $100 one now. The short throw projectors are looking good to me but think for now I will just get a lower end 85" tv.
me too an old hitachi 720p without hdmi... u can see the screendoor effect on it..but the colors, sharpness is still great and with a lot of functions.. but the cheapest 720 now is better, but not colorwise..
Chris. Outstanding work as always. Something for other commenters to keep in mind is the used market as long as you pay attention to the hour count. I was able to get an Optoma UST 1080p pj (GT5600) with only 1000 out of 3000 hours on the bulb for $500. Retail is typically $1000ish on that PJ. Now. Next you can review budget home audio. :)

I bought a 300 inch native 1080p for super cheap on Amazon. $165.91 about a year ago. Cheap, Great, and Amazing. Make sure you have a Ring Focus and you will be happy. If you have a couple grand, those new Dolby Laser ones look absolutely amazing. Anyway the one I bought can certainly take up my whole 14 foot wall. But the smaller you make it, the higher quality picture image, either way, love these things. I bought the VIVIMAGE Explore 3 Native 1080P Projector, FHD 7500L Movies Projector 300" for Home Theatre 60Hz Compatible TV Stick, 2 HDMI, VGA, Smartphone, PC, TV - Fun to use on the PS4 , and watching youtube on my computer in 1080 and sometimes 4k.
This is like someone driving a 300 dollar car and saying how great the experience is and it's similar to a new modern car. It's not. If you actually experienced a good projector you wouldn't be saying this chinese e-waste is good.
My only issue with these budget projectors is the false advertisement. If its 480p native, just state it that way. If its 100 lumens in brightness, state it like so.

This is indeed an excellent piece, as it shows us what total rip-offs "name brand" proj3ectors are! Take for instance JVC. A lamp for one of thei4r PJs will cost you $850. For which you can get not one but two decent quality 1080p no-name brand LED projector that does not need lamp. Or a $5,000 3LCD HTPJ from name-brand Epson. C'mon, who do you think cannot see through this racket.
The sweet spot on the low end is about $150 - $200 for 600 ansi lumens (most in the this price range coming in at 300-500 ansi)/ 1080p. If someone was looking at more then 2x this cost then it is investment grade decision making. The next bump is 800-1000 ansi lumen... and really is only necessary if you want to use in a lighted room. Beyond that is 4k, hdr and of course more lumens or niche use cases such as short throw, long throw and commercial grade.
Of course, most of these budget projectors say “compatible with 1080p”. Meaning that it can accept that resolution. However, the resolution is typically a lot less for that price point

Going from a $70-$100 Auking/Happrun/Goodee etc to a $200-$250 Nexigo/Yaber/Vivibright is a night and day difference. I would highly recommend a Nexigo PJ40 or Yaber k1/k2s if you can get them for less than $250,
i just purchased a 50 inch 4k smart tv, but now i am thinking of returning it for a projector for i just moved into a smaller place and i think this form factor work work out great for me!
I just canceled my order. 480p in 2023. I would of been upset. They need to be more accurate with discrimination. Thank you for your efforts.
I have a clone of this projector. It's definitely a great idea to pick one of these up to try out the projector experience and go up from there if you like it! I'm looking to upgrade to some real hardware soon, but I wouldn't have known if I liked projectors without trying this one out first!
Didn't even know I needed a projector until I watched this video.....now I'm looking at spending £599.....thanks for that!
Love ur story, I just bought a 110$ projector and next thing is 100 to 150$ speakers
Buddy, try Bextzuby 1080p projector, I think that one works great too.
@@reviewsmolly9354 You think, or you know. Never even heard of that brand, and Googling the name brings nothing up.
Just ordered Wanbo Mini for $70
Will do some basic testing on gaming and HD movies but I don't expect much out of them if a $2000+ Laser Projector won't satisfied you then this sure as hell won't.
I like cheap projectors as they tend to bring people in to try out a cheap big display alternative to TV.
Good thing I just want one for extra display as I'm running out of space to place a TV on a set of furniture.
Buddy, try Bextzuby 1080p projector, I think that one works great too.
I have had my WiMiUS K2 for a bit years. Still really good cost me only $99.99. The best cheap one on amazon I have ever tried.
Buddy, try Bextzuby 1080p projector, I think that one works great too.
I have bought a ViVi Mage Xplore 2 Beamer for 40€ and it have 720P.
Perfect for my Home.
And it works with Daylight with little loudness.
This Performance shocked me.
I just bought a Groview projector based on someones comparison reviews 1080p for like 140$ and im very surprised how good it looks. Definetly a good purchase. Wanted a decent size tv but since i always end up buying a shield tv and sound system for a better experience, i spent 140$ instead of 600$ for a 4ktv. probably get everything i need for less of what the tv was gonna cost me alone.
Buddy, try Bextzuby 1080p projector, I think that one works great too.
You’ll find this projector at a lot of goodwills. I found three of these projectors at thrift stores in my town in ONE WEEK!!
Finally!! Thank you for this. Appreciate your recommendations for sub-200 as we can't always spend huge amounts of cash.
Buddy, try Bextzuby 1080p projector, I think that one works great too.
Thanks for putting a video out for us plebs, lol. What I would like is something cheap like these, but an acceptable input lag
Which is best for transferring images to canvas for painting? Needs to fit tightbudget and be easy to set up and use for non computerized brain!
@@reviewsmolly9354 no
How to know for sure about the used bulb hours?
I’m glad I stuck around. Thanks for introducing better alternatives. My man.
Hi Chris, l need a PROJECTOR for my Christian charity PPT presentation. My budget is $80. Please let me know which one suitable to get on AMAZON
Wait like Majesticland Majestic? Arcade and family amusement? DMV? If so I might have some equipment for you to review.
this tech is new to me I was originionally looking into this for presentations and art projects but this stuff is really blowing my mind for how cheap it is.
Can you please do a review on a good 3d projector that will not kill the back, I would really appreciate. Thanks

Hahaha, I swear you made this video after i posted mine on FB pages and people thought I had a really nice projector/tv.....😂😂😂your assessment is true.....i been telling people that it looks a lot better in pictures

Great video sir! I appreciate the time and work for this review!
got that same projector and it’s great, not perfect but it’s great for what it’s worth
I plan on using this as a alternative to a traditional smart tv hooked up to a mini PC which I'm using as a alternative to a roku box to play my pirated movies in 2024 in my bedroom.
Hi Chris! I was wondering if you’d be able to help me out with best projector for my golf simulator. I built a shed and unfortunately the screen is so big, yet the projector can only go so high so the image is terrible😅 I need professional help!
Buddy, try Bextzuby 1080p projector on amazon, I think that one works great too.
Great job, it's always worth that extra bit of time, effort and aforthough, making it aestheticly pleasing as well, goes a long way.
@@Aerondighteternal its my first one man!! Next I will get one of those 4k laser ones, but i do use my 65 inch 4k regular tv most of the time.
The Vankyo Leisure 620 projector is the best cheap projector I've seen.
My Optoma Darbee recently crapped out. I really enjoyed it. Any suggestions on a replacement or should I buy another Darbee?

I have the same model and it works fine for me, I dig it
The AuKing is $58 with a 50% off coupon right now. I'm tempted to get it for camping. Even for $30, do you think it's too crappy for camping?
My only issue with these budget projectors is the false advertisement. If its 480p native, just state it that way. If its 100 lumens in brightness, state it like so.
turn it into a short throw projector it helps a lot
keep it up..i think we all started with a budget projector and then progressed

You look fine to me on my neopix plus one for 130 dollars
I have it at 500 inch its brilliant
I use this exact projector for projecting Atmos effects holiday effects, On Halloween and Christmas displays. Works good for that and cheap for something I'm only using for holiday displays.
Have you done a review of short throw projectors for digital decorations?
I have a viewsonic 4k smart projector, but I'm looking for a few cheap ones for my gaming room setup, looks like these are definitely viable options

Beng TH585 is costing me 900 USD (70k INR) * Benq Tk700 @ 1700 USD (135000 INR) here in India. Is it worth that price ?

Hello, I have a optima h190x, currently projecting to white wall, looking for advice on a screen that I saw on best buy, (elite screen aeon edge free 100 inch) I have a dedicated room, really dark, what's your thoughts on this one?
Buddy, try Bextzuby 1080p projector on amazon, I think that one works great too.
I love your channel. You do a great job breaking things down. Question, how much does the screen make a difference with these less expensive projectors? I use screen paint and have always wondered if screen paint can produce the same picture quality as a real screen.
It helps a little with resolution but it’s not going to make a drastic improvement.
@@ChrisMajestic Thanks Chris. I'm running a BenQ HT2550. Was thinking of upgrading to a real screen over the screen paint, but maybe not. Perhaps I'll upgrade to the BenQ TK850i. Is there a material difference?

I bought this from Amazon. When we switch it on, light for a few seconds then switch back off. It has been a nightmare for my kids since I bought it. Sometimes it does play but not more than 30 min then switched itself off. My 4 yr old is devastated since I can't explain to him what is wrong.
Do you have any for outdoor use? That’s what I’m in search out and so far I came up with the Kodak Luma… what’s your thoughts
I like this. I'm mad I haven't been getting notifications for your vids. Now I have to play catch up
I was curious about those budget projectors…..great video!
You seem into this
Of course, most of these budget projectors say “compatible with 1080p”. Meaning that it can accept that resolution. However, the resolution is typically a lot less for that price point
I just found your channel and subbed instantly!! My God I'm already obsessed with your movie room 😭❤ I've always wanted one and seeing yours inspires me haha. Glad to start following you!
It’s the top selling “4K” projector but is only capable of 1080p max with a native res of 480p
These options aren’t for sale anymore. Could you make a 2024 updated video?
I need something for projecting sewing patterns onto fabric. Will this do the job? I’ll have to mount it from above so it projects onto the floor or table.
I used the hd version of those low end projectors.Terrible colours but I still liked it enough to use it as the base for my home cinema.I build the screen and got a nice old pro logic surround amplifier and Magnat monitor supreme speakers , Ikea swing /poäng poeng? Seats .Now I have a Optoma hd36darbee .The low end unit never complained after running 6h or more every weekend for 3 years
I guess these should do very well in 50” or less in my room
Am hesitating between the 5020UB 1080p(550$) Vs the 5040 UB 4k (1000$) as a second hand is the 5040 makes that huge difference or just noticed by someone has experience with the projectors? My budget is a bit tight so if the 5040 is a game changer i may try to get the unit.
