  • Epic day ends with end with this!
    My Review of ‪@goodthingsfest‬
Absolutely Epic day for me in Brisbane. I walked out of Royal Brisbane hospital at 1pm Sunday, after being admitted for Pneumonia at 5am Saturday. I crossed the road and stumbled into a 37degree, 87% humidity day amongst 40 thousand people rocking out to some amazing bands. Holy shit!!! Do not tell my lung Dr at the hospital that I went to the festival. She wanted me to stay in hospital on IV antibiotics for another 24hrs. I convinced her to let me go "home" hahaha. But the show must go on, and it did in true rock and roll fashion with an epic set from Bowling For Soup ‪@bowlingforsouptv‬ in the soup of a day that Brisbane was. There was more sweat on the ground than spilt alcohol, everyone was soaked even though it wasn't raining and toilet lines were short because everyone just sweated out their fluids instead of needing to empty their urinal passages.
The ‪@TheButterflyEffectBand‬ and ‪@FrankTurner‬ impressed in the big white sweat tent. The day "Rolled On" with an epic set by ‪@TheLivingEndOfficial‬. Then it got hotter and heavier with the always amazing ‪@northlane‬. I followed that up with some ‪@KillingHeidiOfficial‬ and ‪@grandson‬ who were mind blowing. I had a hard time leaving grandson early as they were fucking insane. But I needed to catch some of ‪@thegaslightanthem‬ too, so a mission back to the big white sweat tent was in order and they didn't disappoint. ‪@ViolentFemmes‬ rocked out the main stage in their uniquely epic way as the sun was setting, starting with "Blister in the Sun", which I think every single person at the festival had some kind of blister going on, but they're just festival battle scars. Then ‪@ElectricCallboy‬ brought back the heavy to the evening with an set that won over many doubters including myself. Another hard choice to leave their set early but ‪@KerryKingOfficial‬ was about to step the metal up a notch back over in the sweat tent, and Billy Corgan @@williampatrickcorgan1288 laid some softer flowers in my earholes for 25min to calm down the ringing in my ear, including a great cover of "Don't Change" by Aussie band ‪@inxs‬. It was a sad and difficult choice but I've seen Billy twice with the ‪@smashingpumpkins‬ before and festival clashes means there is always some really difficult choices. koRn ‪@kornchannel‬ are back in their prime for the 30th Anniversary so they were always going to win me over in a clash with most, even Billy Corgan who I love to bits. :( . But the ultimate climax for me was an Epic headline set by Korn and from start to finish they played the hits, some old deeper cuts, some new killer stuff. The Bag pipes were fun, but i could feel that tinitus coming back and people around the whole of Brisbane must have thought it was some sought air raid siren and been panicking. They closed the whole event with an special and epic live version Freak On A Leash.
    What a epic day.
Well done to everyone involved. Great to see ‪@goodthingsfest‬ Good Things Festival going from strength to strength. Keep it up guys, Australian music fans need you!!! A special mention to ‪@TheRedFrogCrew‬ (Red Frogs Australia) for helping keep me alive in the minor welfare area with shade, fans, ice cold water, red frogs and a sneaky view of the main stage still. I should have still been in hospital so without that Red Frogs area, I probably would have had to return across the road to my hospital bed and not made it through the day.
Message about ‪@Sum41‬ who had to pull out of the festival. This is a Joke so please read to the end! But... Deryck from Sum 41, you're a pussy. You had way more time to recover from Pneumonia than I did and I have suffered from really serious lung conditions for the last 6yrs! The doctors wanted me to stay in hospital (across the road from the festival in Brisbane) for more IV antibiotics, fluids, pain relief, and monitoring. But I convinced her to let me go "home" and see how I go. I didn't tell her I was going to walk across the road and attend at 12hr rock/punk/metal/hardcore festival in 37degree Celsius sun and heat with 87% humidity and 40 thousand people packed in. But they took that canula out, gave me a bag of drugs (prescribed and legal obviously) and let me go "Home" in time to catch ‪@bowlingforsouptv‬ at 1:30pm. So yeah Deryck you need to harden up mate! JOKING!!! I know more than most how difficult respiratory illness can be, plus I didn't have to perform in front of 40thousand people 3 days in a row + sideshows hahaha. And I most definitely was acting against doctors advice. Love you Deryick, get well mate. I'm praying you guys will make a special trip back to Australia to complete your final ever tour but if can't happen I've got plenty of old memories of seeing you live and I'll buy your book soon too! If you need the name of the best respiratory specialists in Brisbane, send me message. I myself have had gained a lot of specialized respiratory knowledge and tricks to help relieve the discomfort.
