For his final pre-election report, John Harris hits the knife-edge Tory/Labour marginal of Nuneaton - one of the small number of Middle English seats that will decide which party forms the next government. There's a huge billboard of Alex Salmond in the town centre, and as well as the usual talk about immigration and welfare, the streets are alive with nervous chatter about the SNP supposedly coming for England's money. But as Labour sticks to its tightly-controlled campaign and the Tories take their place next to local Morris Dancers, could that issue really swing the election?

It truly is amazing to hear so many disillusioned people on the views of the Scottish!! We get free prescriptions,university fees because we pay for it through our taxes especially when we pay the highest proportion of tax per head than anywhere else in the UK & have done so for the last 35 year. Also this nonsense that people don't want the Snp in government after we voted in the referendum to stay part of the UK system is scanadoulous, does that mean the views of the scots aren't welcome in the UK (that we voted to stay part of) & we should shut up get back to chasing haggis,drinking irn-bru and do as were told.

G96Saber Wow, how dumb can you get? Firstly it says these are ESTIMATES!!! i.e not actual. Second it claims this is 80% of tax but "they do not include revenue not collected by HMRC", then place this excluded figure on top of the UK figure to make it look the highest. But this is the UK figure and includes Scotland. If you look at England, Scotland, Wales and N.I. which one is the highest? Oh, that would be Scotland, you just dismissed your OWN argument.

Tell me, if Scotland is as big a drag on the UK economy as you'd have us believe, then why did the UK fight to keep Scotland as a member, and continually block the people of Scotland from handling their own money?
This is the crazy thing: England have been stirred up into fearing the Scots stealing all their money, when all that poll after poll says is that they want Home Rule - which means all they want is to keep _their own money!_
I can't understand why the two sides are at odds when they fundamentally want Scotland to have the same thing - their running their own affairs.

I was cycling through England on my Land's End to John O' Groats tour and although most people I met seemed very nice, I was still amazed at the racist and anti Scottish attitudes which I encountered down there.

When I saw the election result for Nuneaton I thought she looked professional and a young mature candidate, but after watching this in hindsight I feel different now. Looks can be deceiving I suppose...
