  • While I was bleeding the brakes on my 300D, there was a blowout. Brake fluid started leaking all over the floor from where the brake booster connects to the brake pedal
Watch in this video as I remove the master cylinder and the brake booster. WOW. There is a lot of fluid in there! I do have a new master cylinder, brake cables, and other parts... but now will be searching for a brake booster. This one seemed to be falling apart.
One positive thing I do show is the repaired cluster which is back in the car. I painted the needles and replaced the LCD on the outside temperature display. Odometer was repaired by Overseas Speedometer

Was your pedal firm, then it would almost go to the floor? That is what is happening to my 300sd. I am not losing any fluid, so i am thinking maybe a vacuum leak?. Going to replace the master cylinder anyway but i have to wait a week.

No, the brake pedal for me was basically not doing anything until you put it ALL the way down. If anything, it felt mushy or spongy. Then during the bleed, that's when it blew out completely 🤯 Buying a new or rebuilt master cylinder is cheap enough that I would totally do it 🙂 Worth every penny. Diesels should be using a vacuum pump (not intake manifold) so you might check that to see if it's working as expected
