      This was measured in fluid ounces and I did 1.1 which is equivalent to 1.05

      So in other words, the miniscule difference between 1 fluid Oz and 1 Oz weight of Oil is not going to change the test results.

    I believe you have Prolube in one of your vehicles currently if I am not mistaken?. If so can you do a similar test to what Prolube did by taking oil straight off the dipstick from their finger to the bearing. Reason being is I am curious about heat cycles possibly having an effect but I also want to see if the results are the same or not.

    Weight Ounce vs Fluid Ounce
    Is 1 oz liquid the same as 1 oz weight?
    This is where it gets confusing. Fluid ounces (fl oz) measures the volume of a liquid, or how much room this liquid takes up. Net weight (Net Wt) measures the mass of a solid, or how much the product weighs. Since fluid ounces and net weight measure different things,

    30 years ago the BG reps put on a demonstration at our dealer with a similar machine. Their machine utilized a beam pointer torque wrench rather than weights. They started with a sample of our bulk oil. The bearings seized at a low torque. They then tested their MOA additive. They were able to bury the needle with the MOA. As I mentioned this was 30 years ago so my memory may be off. I don't remember them conducting a third test where they added a percentage of MOA to our bulk oil. We became am authorized seller of BG products. We sold MOA, 44K and Supercharge. I'm now curious to see what the result of adding MOA to a motor oil will be. If it in fact fortifies motors oils like they claim. The MOA, by itself, showed the same result as the Prolube. Perhaps these additives are just "snake oils" that do not provide any added benefit.

    Could you revisit and play with increased ratios? I'm curious if 2 or even 3 oz/quart will show better results. Just curious since it did so well full strength. Maybe Prolube isn't recommending the ideal ratio?

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  11 місяців тому +1

      There's a problem with doing it that way because now you're taking your oil changes from 50 60 bucks and you're making them $100 plus because you're dumping three to four times the amount of prolube in to make anything different but going by their directions it doesn't make a difference

    • @ChadWiese

    • @pheelix-
      @pheelix- 11 місяців тому

      no, quantity doesn't equal more time between changes. if a car take 5qts or 7qts the change time is the same. Adding more oil to the engine then recommended or past the full line on the dip stick could cause issues.

    Think that would do anything ?

  • @weofnjieofing
    @weofnjieofing 10 місяців тому +1

    I wonder what a 50% mixture would do? Then again the oil would be out of spec for the application which may cause other issues.
    Looks like prolube can only work with 100% concentration and is sold based on this fact but in reality it’s not effective at least based on this test.
    Great job in testing this product! Would be great if you could do a series on maybe the top 3 brands of oil additives out there.

    Dumb question, did you thoroughly mix the Prolube with the Schaeffers oil I saw you poured it in, but I didn’t see you get mixed up🤷🏻‍♂️. Either way I’ve been using Prolube for years. I add 2 ounces per quart you have to be careful obviously because it’s a different viscosity. And I don’t run it in the winter months in Minnesota just the summer. #coldpourtest #amsoil

  • @dennisanstadt1039
    @dennisanstadt1039 4 місяці тому +1

    Most oil additives are not needed. You use the correct viscosity and a decent brand change your oil and do not run 10k 15 k 20k between oil changes you won't have a oil related issue.

    The Schaeffer reps do this test to show how their oils "plate up" with their Micron Moly and antimony additives, and then completely prevents the machine locking up, but they will not use that oil you are using...instead they empty that modern passenger car oil bottle out and then refill it from one of their older spec diesel oils with more ZDDP, moly and antimony additives and sometimes heavier viscosity, and then you literally cannot lock it up. I caught a Schaeffer rep doing this and told him in front of everyone I wanted to use a sealed bottle of the modern, current Schaeffer passenger car oil, and he made a bunch of excuses and refused to test again from a sealed bottle. It's the ole one-arm bandit trick!

    For accuracy you should have the weights already on when you start the test because there could be variation in the time it takes you to put each weight on. If one has more weight on it for longer it will obviously have more wear. Also you are weighing in ounces. Fluid ounces are different than ounces in weight. Fluid ounces measure liquid in volume where ounces measures dry objects in weight.

    • @Terminxman
      @Terminxman 11 місяців тому

      We also don't know how heavy the weights are, how much force is being applied over the arm to the bearing. Bearing area/stress, etc. This is basically all that the prolube guy does and I've been raving for months about it everwhere wishing someone would do a real test with quantitative results like project farm because I want prolube proven wrong so bad lol. All we know from this is at what load the motor is at, which does tell you something but we don't have a run time, bearing material loss, etc.

    The best thing to do is not add anything to the oil and use it the way it came from the manufacture. In my 55 years of working on cars and oil changes, I waisted money on oil additives and learned not to add any now. The oils are too good as they come in the bottle. I started using Amsoil in 1976 and have only use synthetic since them. I have Amsoil or Schaeffer in my Harley, Pennzoil ultra platinum in my GMC 1500 and Mobil one 0w8 in my 2025 Toyota hybrid.

    Just a suggestion and not trying to be a di*k. The way it was mixed is not anywhere near consistent. Who knows if Prolube was even in the test. You should figure out the ratio in the testing machine and add Prolube that way to be fair.

      Are you lost in the sauce? Pro Lube seen this video and had no problem with it and after I kept exposing the ratio that they use is not correct guess what they did? They changed it now instead of 1 oz for every quart it's 3 oz for every quart
      Do better goofy
