@@jerrymiller9039 Not at the moment, even with our help Ukraine is low on 155mm ammunition that it needs for its’ artillery. It will take some time to build more facilities that are required to meet the demand.
The issue with this bill is that NO ONE tells the people what the big sum of money is comprised of. 20+ billion goes to border protection (which is the biggest investment in U.S. history, in border protection). The amounts going to Ukraine, Israel and S.A. Asia (Philipines, Taiwan etc.) is comprised not of MONEY, but ARMS. Arms with expiration dates. No one explains that most ammunition has chemicals which expire, and they need to be replaced (normally, they would be dismantled (WHICH COSTS ACTUAL TAX MONEY)). Explosives, rocket/missile fuels are chemical components with expiration dates. Some arms have gasses which leak. Some arms have chemical paints which expire. Even artillery rounds and some types of bullets (you know your 2nd ammenments right...???) expire. When they expire, they can be unreliable and even cause friendly casualties. So they give these ammunitions and equipment to allies (Like Ukraine and Israel). They go into the books as "sums of money" (which they are not). Media and politicians are as dumb as the population. They keep them dumb even. Inform the people. Problem solved.
My understanding from the bill it was just a way to say they handled the border when they really didn’t and just gave more money for processing adult immigrants. If a young man claimed to be under 17 he was counted as a minor and not included in the numbers. It’s like saying you solved child abuse by eliminating the age of consent. I read other criticisms of the bill. This report seems to skip all of them. I thought WSJ was a conservative news source not even one item that show some flaws in this bill. They also initially tied billions of more aid to Ukraine. They submitted a bill they knew republicans wouldn’t pass just to say the republicans are the problem.

What is the point of passing border legislation while we still have sanctuary states? If democrats were at all serious about the issue, sanctuary cities and states wouldn't exist. If the democrats were truly interested in border security, they wouldn't be engaging in a catch and release policy. It is difficult to get into this country legally and it should be. It is a simple way to measure each individuals capacity to do well in our country. You don't understand the bill. 5K/day is the maximum number of people who will be given asylum hearings, not the number of people who will actually be allowed into the country. Most asylum claims are rejected after they are heard, the problem currently is that we don't have the capacity to hear them all, so people stay in the country while they wait for their hearing, which can take months or years.
Also, 5k/day is FAR lower than the current limit, because as it stands, there is NO LIMIT, meaning literally anyone who comes to the border is legally entitled to a hearing, which is the whole reason we have such a huge backlog in the first place.
The bill sucks. 60.06 billion to Ukraine, 14.1 billion to Israel and 10 billion for Gaza.

Weak reporting from a Murdoch owned paper. Misbehavior on both sides ? Really???

If a person can make it through our process, they have a far greater chance of succeeding in our society, without a lot of hand holding. And illegal immigration should be met with zero tolerance. There is no reason to sneak in.

Republicans got a great deal but rejected it because it’s the only policy they know how to run on. Fixing the issue would mean they would have to have some other policy to run on, that’s a lot of work. Easier to keep rehashing the same issue for decades.
