Man, Boomerang was my “safe haven” from all the newer CN shows I didn’t like. I was actually awake on the night of Boomerang’s change; my sister, best friend, and I were staying up and watching Boomerang, when all of the sudden, one of the regular bumpers they played before a cartoon starts played, there was a pause, and the new Boomerang just started. We were all like, “Did you see that!? What the heck!?” Man, Boomerang was a big piece of my childhood, especially since I was born during the age in which CN was airing Cartoon Cartoon Friday’s (02), and I’ll never forget the good old days of cartoons...
Used to, this was a channel I had on my TV 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year (or 366 if it's a leap year) since I got it back in 2004, I miss Boomerang the way it was, instead of it now being nothing but crap, that 2015 reboot was a complete giant middle finger to those who loved the old cartoons that was shown on this channel. Rest in peace Boomerang: 2000-2014
Boomerang was a large part of my early years and gave me a wonderful love of cartoons. I had the experience of growing up with quality cartoon programming for so many years, and to see that pretty much destroyed is terrible. Those bumpers gave me a huge nostalgia wave. Great video Bruce, and thanks for talking about this!
SAME. I remember sitting legs-crossed on the floor/couch and watching the original PPG and Dexter’s Lab nearly every day and being happy the whole way through. Good times.
Man those commercials bring so much nostalgia. When I was little I would go over my Aunts house, run upstairs & turn straight to Boomerang. It had such a chill feel to it. The TV shows were great ❤️
I feel bad for all those kids and children in the world. Imagine a kid coming home from school at a young age. Asking his mother "mom can we watch boomerang today". The mother replies "sure son!". She turns on the TV and goes to the Boomerang Channel. The boy says "this isn't boomerang". The mother says "yes your correct it isn't". She tells her son "There must be something wrong with the channels and TV , lets wait for your father to come home from work". The father later comes home. He tries his best , trying to find the classic cartoon channel they all loved. Spending hours flipping through channels. Later the mother and father look up on the internet and read up on the new rebrand. They tell there child about it. They say not much has changed! and they show him that Looney Tunes still comes on in the morning! and that he could watch it before he went to school. The boy was filled with joy and hugged his parents. Later he turned on the TV to the channel. and he ran to his parents crying. saying it wasn't the same! His parents knew this was true. They all missed the old classic family friendly Boomerang. They missed the old times of telling their son about how they grew up and how they watched TV. and showing him their favorite shows as a child on boomerang. They all missed the classic toy bumpers. and happy music. They later stopped playing Looney Tunes the child's favorite show. His parents then got him the best Christmas present ever. They bought every episode of all his favorite Hanah-Barbera and Warner Brothers and every other show. But the most important thing of all. They could enjoy family time together watching cartoons. All again! tho it wasn't the same and they missed Boomerang deeply. *Imagine if this was a true story. or if something similar is happening. I might only be 12 years old but I love old things , tv shows , and music. And I grew up watching Boomerang. The real Boomerang. I was sad when I saw what it had become. You are right ITS BASICALLY A CARTOON NETWORK 2.0! This was a great short documentary! thanks for making it! -Henry*
Nice story dude,I miss the old one too being a 2000s and all the other half of my childhood in terms of tv that wasn’t taken up by Thomas the Tank Engine And Friends it was Boomerang and Cartoon Network
Man, I remember the day before the change watching Perils of Penelope Pitstop and such and coming back to watch those shows again the following day to find they had changed it all up and I was very upset considering it had all the shows I hated that I used Boomerang to get away from.
I missed the time where I could go to Boomerang to watch the Tom Cat cartoons to relive the days when I first watched it . now it's just a program that offers hollow reruns. thanks for reminding us how big Boomerang was, Bruce.
I remember the Boomerang Channel. When I was either 5 or 6 years old, whenever I went to my dad's house on the weekends, I would watch The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo, Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, etc. on the Boomerang Channel. Even when I came home from school in 5th Grade, I would watch shows on Boomerang right after I got my homework done. Boomerang is still one of my favorite TV channels that I love watching today. I just wish they brought back the old cartoons, especially Popeye. The new boomerang is worse than it was before. It's terrible. The classic cartoons are much better. I also remember the old bumpers, too. The classic Boomerang Channel brings back so many memories. Now I'm feeling nostalgic. This channel was my childhood.
I used to watch Boomerang at my grandparents house and the day my family got it we all watched it as a family. We spent hours watching The Jetsons, Looney Toons and The Flintstones. And sometimes we even would tune in to the channel when there was nothing on. It was a wonderful time.
I forgot how nostalgic I was for the boomerang music and bumpers. also it was cool that you mentioned tooncast, I didn't know that it was it's own channel in other countries, but over here in Brazil it was an animation block they'd have on weekend mornings, now that CN is updated I don't know if they still have it.
I have old memories of watching Cartoon Network all day as a kid and I had a TV in my room and my parents wouldn't let me watch adult swim so I'd watch Boomerang till I'd get tired. As of 2015 my family and I decided to cut off cable as a way to save money, I'm sorta glad I didn't get to see the boomerang I grew up loving drastically change...
I remember growing up watching the Boomerang channel when it was a new channel before and after I entered kindergarten (2000) at the time, the commercials, shows, etc. Boomerang was where I could go for many years to watch Hanna Barbera, Tom and Jerry, and Looney Tunes. I vaguely remember watching The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones (1987) around that time. I've been a Scooby Doo fan the majority of my life and as of last year, officially got interested in collecting and watching the Hanna Barbera library, some that Warner Brothers has yet to release on DVD sets like Quick Draw Mcgraw. Boomerang was where you could watch a lot of H-B's more rare and obscure work. It's a shame to see what's become of the channel and I don't like the change. Long live the old Boomerang! Thanks for sharing this video!
Before Boomerang changed, it was my go-to channel. If nothing good was on, channel 124 was my savior from boredom. After boomerang changed, never again. If I ever went to channel 124 by instinct, it's only a mistake now unfortunately.
Thank you so much for doing a recent Boomerang video! Not many people talk about how much Boomerang has changed or what it used to be! I appreciate it!
I feel nostalgic watching this video. I'm glad that I got the chance to watch old boomerang before it rebranded back in 2015.Boomerang was pretty much the last channel to show classic Saturday morning cartoons.
Boomerang used to be a great channel showing old school cartoons for younger generation to have a chance to watch and have a great time with them. Along with older generation to still have great time with them. I can't believe Boomerang becomes like this nowadays, but that proves that lot of great things do change over time whether better or in this case, worse. Anybody know 2 Stupid Dogs? That's my show on Boomerang! Since Boomerang is new Cartoon Network 2.0 now, how can I watch 2 Stupid Dogs on TV now :(
WARNING: Rant starting in 3... 2... 1... Well, I used to watch the Boomerang channel a whole lot (since I was 4... now i'm 12). After awhile I stopped watching it and moved onto other cartoon stations. And now I have to agree also that changing it to be like this is terrible. My mom loved me and my siblings watching it to show us stuff my grandma and her used to watch. And i agree. #ItsAllComingBackToYa
I miss the old music and bumpers. I never actually liked it that much, but when something I actually wanted to watch came on, I watched it. I honestly fucking hate it as it is now. I just don't like it. It's basically a Sonic Boom channel for me now.
Even if the streaming thing isn't a complete success and doesn't last forever, Cartoon Network would definitely take notice if it turned out that classic cartoons were being streamed more often than the newer stuff in the mobile platform. Boomerang's problem is simply availability, I loved watching the old version of it when I lived in Providence, but now I'm back in Vermont, our only option here is Comcast. Even if they do carry it by now it wouldn't be worth buying the cable package required to watch it (and I don't want to watch it at all now anyway even if it was free). But there is a market for classics if you cast a wide enough net, which is why classic Boomerang would be perfect as a digital subchannel. It would barely cost them anything, they could even just use the toy bumpers again and literally all they would have to do is run the feed. The subchannels are practically designed for retro TV and it's mostly what you see on them. The only thing missing from subchannels is kid's programming, right now all antenna users have for that is PBS kids (which used to also be a premium kid's channel that didn't do well and went off the air for a while, returning only recently as a cheaper to produce subchannel).
Boomerang used to be that channel I go to whenever Cartoon Network doesn't have anything good on the fact I could watch Cartoons from my childhood until I was 18 was great times for me just seeing the Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans, and Dexter Laboratory was just amazing stuff now it's just unwatchable since a lot of the programs are other stuff CN show on their regular channel, Cartoons that did horrible on Cartoon Network and are now push to Boomerang to die, Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry, and Looney Tunes, and occasional old shows that play during midnight which let's be real nobody is going to stay up to watch old cartoons from their childhood not even people in their teens. I lost hope when Teen Titans Go poison Boomerang with it's present and overstay it's welcome like it did on Cartoon Network they had me surprise one week when I saw episodes of Kids Next Door I thought CN was FINALLY returning back to what Boomerang was made for (and a chance to show CN that there's still an audience for Kids Next Door like with Samurai Jack) but fuck us because not even a month past and Boomerang was back to playing Teen Titans Go like that spoil first child everybody had. And don't even get me started with Boomerang theater what a bunch of misleading clickbait piece of networking bullshit the commercials talk about showing all our favorite movies even showing movies like Scooby Doo in the Cyber Chase, KND Operation Zero, etc. but guess what plays all the fucking time Scooby fucking Doo. I love Scooby Doo as much as the next guy doesn't mean I want to see his movie every single weekend come on that commercial promise us variety and their only showing movies from one franchise and those are the same movies that 9 time out of 10 people already seen and have no real reason to watch it again 2 weeks from now where's the obscure stuff like the Dexter Laboratory movie, The Powerpuff Girls movie, Grim Adventure of Billy and Mandy Big Boogery Adventure, etc. I want to see those instead of Scooby Doo XYZ the movie.
(I think this was in 2010-11, I forget.) I remember one day at daycare, I didn't feel very good, so my dad came to pick me up. Well recently at the time my dad changed cable so we now have AT&T, so he just finished assembling everything, etc. I turned on the TV and laid down on the couch in the living room. The first channel that popped up was Boomerang, I remember Dexter's Laboratory was on so I left it there (FAV SHOW) and laid down and watched.. memories...
I miss the old Boomerang. I used to watch it EVERY DAY till what, midnight? Now that I see it, it's not the Boomerang I know and love. #ItsAllComingBackToYa
To be honest when I was a kid I loved Boomerang more than Cartoon Network. Since it 24 hrs I would watch cool and classic cartoons nonstop. I would watch Looney Tunes, The Batman, Justice League, etc. Now it sucks so bad I wouldn't even dare watch to see if they have changed again. RIP Boomerang 1990s - 2010s
I remember the day Boomerang changed, it really sucked. But I saw it coming, I just didn't see it come quickly. I have to say Boomerang had the best bumpers I have ever seen.
good vidya, bruce. videos that revolve around some form of animation history are always 👌 kind of a shame this was boomerang's fate, but i get why, i guess. keep up the work B]
Nah, be honest with yourself, if it was the same today. You would have complained that the channel was on autopilot and that there was nothing new. It needed to change eventually. That’s something that I’ve come realize since growing up from this video.
I Used To Watch Boomerang at my Grandma's House I Remember Watching Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Ed Edd N Eddy, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Cow And Chicken, And a lot of Old Classic Cartoons On The Channel, Now They Don't Have Them Anymore Which Sucks.
I grew up with the old boomerang and I loved it when I was 5 I already knew the schedule and when everything change i was so pisses i didn't talk to anyone in school for 2 days
I remember when boomerang was good and thriving with life and I used watch Dexter Johnny bravo The Powerpuff Girls and Pokémon Diamond and pearl and I wish I could go back to those days
Boomerang is rare with good old shows for rare shows they are ed edd n eddy fosters home for imaginary friends dextars labatory witch still has bumpers Johnny test original teen titans and more
I wish the rebrand didn't happen, but it does seem kinda depressing thinking about a channel that plays the same old bumpers and shows forever and ever while nobody watches it.
Thanks for the information, I wanted to know more about what happeded to boomerang. My idea for boomerang is for them to be more like tooncast, where they aired recent and old cartoons. However, I whould like them to air shows that where cancelled from 2008 and older, and still air the vary old Hana Barbara cartoons. Another idea is to also cast shows from allover the world we never got to see, in english dubs, of corse. And why not air some old adult swim cartoons. Well not every night at least. All of theses changes will bring over new kids for cartoon network shows that they never go to see, older people for the adultswim, redubs, and old english cartoons, and people from other countries to watch the redubs, for at least to see one or 2 cartoons they watched as kids.
Getting Comcast was one of the worst mistakes of my young life. It was during the beginning of the second dark age of animation 2009-Present Avatar vanished, Billy & Mandy died, SpongeBob was getting moldy, then the 2010's cringetoons hit the scene and forever ruins the utopian world of TV, I then fled to the internet and this is where we are now. Later when I got Dish back I was appalled what they did to the once wonderful channel I kept coming back to.
I agree with what you said about what Boomerang used to be why don't they have where is like when you have satellite TV when you get two different Cartoon Network channels why don't they have a second boomerang from Cartoon Network all coming back to you that we've been a good idea and thank you for making this video of the history of Boomerang from Cartoon Network It's All Coming Back To You and one thing I think you should have added it just my opinion of your video the show the last time they had the old version of the original version of Boomerang from Cartoon Network It's All Coming Back To You changing to the new version of boomerang from Cartoon Network at the end of your video the last piece of it I get 5 stars 5 Boomerang symbols it really helped me learn why they changed Boomerang the way I liked it when I was younger and when it got started
that's not how it went. What happened was that the block still aired regular. And what really happened was they complete changed Boomerang in 2000. They didn't change boomerang at all until 2000
I remember watching Boomerang waaay late into the night on weekends(11:00am-3:00am), those bumpers and the cartoons themselves where my favorite thing ever. I LOOOVED seeing those little figures and the little bumpers, while waiting for my favorite cartoons to return (Powerpuff Girls, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Dexter.) I would even tune into the other cartoons. The new Boomerang sucks, rehashing new shit that bashed the main purpose of the channel. A smart decision would be to air the OLD TEEN TITANS, along side timeless classics that made mine and other childhoods WORTH WATCHING. I love newer characters, don’t get me wrong, Steven Universe and The Amazing World of Gumball are the best cartoons I’ve seen in a LONG time. But, I love watching the old stuff, gives me a sense of childhood that I held onto because I didn’t live in the best environment. Jesus Christ, Cartoon Network, just leave it alone and bring it back. And cancel TTG for the love of GOD, get a hint, its embarrassing to know to consider that burning pile of garbage to be a “top cartoon” Edit: I edited it a bit because me can’t English

RIP Boomerang 1990s - 2010s
I remember the day Boomerang changed, it really sucked. But I saw it coming, I just didn't see it come quickly. I have to say Boomerang had the best bumpers I have ever seen.
Here in latin America sometime in the early 2000s they decided that it would be a good idea to make the channel a channel for teenagers
good vidya, bruce. videos that revolve around some form of animation history are always 👌
kind of a shame this was boomerang's fate, but i get why, i guess. keep up the work B]
thanks egg
ayyy, no problem B]
Thank God for Internet streamong services that can air old boomerang shows
BRING BACK OLD BOOMERANG THEME!
4:00 Don’t act like I didn’t hear you stutter, Boomeranger!
I really wish Turner kept Boomerang exactly how it was
Nah, be honest with yourself, if it was the same today. You would have complained that the channel was on autopilot and that there was nothing new. It needed to change eventually. That’s something that I’ve come realize since growing up from this video.
@@brucesnoop But it was a great video and I loved it. It was very nostalgic
@@MediaCentUK This vid hasn’t aged well. I prefer what I just made now.
I used to watch scooby doo on boomerang
who remembers Tom and Jerrys slamfest marathon ?
I loved Boomeraction damn it teen titans go.
I wouldn't care if the old Boomerang was repeating shows and bumpers. At least I prefer to the 2000's version over 2015 rebranding.
I miss the Centurions and the Silverhawks very much! Boy, I wish they're back again!
I Used To Watch Boomerang at my Grandma's House I Remember Watching Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Ed Edd N Eddy, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Cow And Chicken, And a lot of Old Classic Cartoons On The Channel, Now They Don't Have Them Anymore Which Sucks.
love the vids
Bring back all the old cartoons and old boomerang is better
I grew up with the old boomerang and I loved it when I was 5 I already knew the schedule and when everything change i was so pisses i didn't talk to anyone in school for 2 days
I remember waking up the day boomerang changed and noticed the changes
I was in kindergarten at the time
R.I.P. to us Comcast users that only had Boomerang On Demand, had to go to someone else’s house to watch the Boomerang channel :(
it's was big part of my early years too
You don't pay much attention to what you have until it is gone...
I got an idea, send this to everyone you know. We will save up money, send it to the guy who made this and buy boomerang back!!
I think I had a memory of watching old boomerang with my cousin and it was showing what I believe was a scooby doo movie
I remember when boomerang was good and thriving with life and I used watch Dexter Johnny bravo The Powerpuff Girls and Pokémon Diamond and pearl and I wish I could go back to those days
I actually remember the day Boomerang rebranded. Yeah I thought it sucked but I still watched it for like a year after
I don't have to play Fallout with a controller anymore, I can just watch the new boomerang because it's a wasteland of lost dreams.
Sick thumbnail dude!
Yesterday I saw a new episode of Sonic Boom on BOOMERANG!
Why would they have Teen Titans GO on Boomerang anyway? At least play the original Teen Titans!
Delphox 616 money
wish there was more to say, I'm being blunt
Delphox 616 they did, but the bastards replaced it with Teen Fucking Titans GO
Trey Owen because it has 3 seasons now, soon to be 4 maybe
***** well I just recently checked the schedule for this week on boomerang and you're not gonna believe this. Not a single episode of TTG was spotted.
Trey Owen Are we finally free?
I miss boomerang cartoon network old one
Boomerang is rare with good old shows for rare shows they are ed edd n eddy fosters home for imaginary friends dextars labatory witch still has bumpers Johnny test original teen titans and more
I wish the rebrand didn't happen, but it does seem kinda depressing thinking about a channel that plays the same old bumpers and shows forever and ever while nobody watches it.
Bro i miss how boomerang used to be i still watch it of course but i miss the bumpers the little music video breaks all of it
Thanks for the information, I wanted to know more about what happeded to boomerang.
All of theses changes will bring over new kids for cartoon network shows that they never go to see, older people for the adultswim, redubs, and old english cartoons, and people from other countries to watch the redubs, for at least to see one or 2 cartoons they watched as kids.
just get the boomerang streaming service when it comes out bro
If I worked for Turner, I'd turn HLN into Tooncast America.
Turner Company Turned Hanna Barbera Company Into A Joke What A Disgrace
what about the ident from 2004-ish, the loopy text one
That was my favorite logo
Your the first UA-camr who Ever like my comment
'Off with the old, on with the new'. That's what I hate about the TV industry.
"...by adding a world where the characters can live and grow."
Guess they haven't heard of the city era.
I understand too but they at least kept the old logo and re-brand boomeraction like toonami and the only one they kept was boomerang theater
6:00 They spelled Looney Tunes wrong...
Holy smoke, He's a Toon!
@@TIGERBATE Surprised?
why isn't boomerang coming back
I'm sorry I had to do this
I agree with what you said about what Boomerang used to be why don't they have where is like when you have satellite TV when you get two different Cartoon Network channels why don't they have a second boomerang from Cartoon Network all coming back to you that we've been a good idea and thank you for making this video of the history of Boomerang from Cartoon Network It's All Coming Back To You and one thing I think you should have added it just my opinion of your video the show the last time they had the old version of the original version of Boomerang from Cartoon Network It's All Coming Back To You changing to the new version of boomerang from Cartoon Network at the end of your video the last piece of it I get 5 stars 5 Boomerang symbols it really helped me learn why they changed Boomerang the way I liked it when I was younger and when it got started
I still watching bomarang
Who else is watchin today in spirit of Boomerang commin on this day?
I like old boomerang.
Just rename boomerang to Cartoon Network 2 and create a third channel to bring back the old boomerang
Who cares about boomerang, when we could be talking about jetix. (cricket sounds)
Enrique Saldana i loved Jitex
Let's make a petition
Good news boomerang has changed
that's not how it went.
And cancel TTG for the love of GOD, get a hint, its embarrassing to know to consider that burning pile of garbage to be a “top cartoon”
Edit: I edited it a bit because me can’t English
This was really good! Do you think you can do one for Jetix?
Sorry, stopped being interested in cartoons.
@@brucesnoop It's fine! We all move on from things
